Love Friday - I think we will be hearing that a lot over the next few years.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
I think you’re right. I really want to see Oats in this class too.
The pain of discipline or the pain of regret, take your pick
The question is: Do you enjoy Oats and Friday together?
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
I'm feeling my Friday Oats, definitely.
Great day for the Bucks!! Andrew I was wondering if Christopher Oats and Javontae Jean-Baptiste are both takes at this point or is it first to commit? Seems like they could both be rush ends or big OLB’s.
Keep fighting CalPoppy
JJB is a take regardless, but I don't think he makes a decision until next week. If Oats have everything settled academically, they'll find the room. JJB is certain to be a defensive end, but I think Oats would end up at linebacker.
I hope JJB commits this weekend.
Thanks for the info Andrew. You do an outstanding job keeping us all up to date.
Have to give it up to Urban, he missed out on Brenton Cox and Oweh and still pulled a top 100 player out of his ass, a player that was a heavy lean to Michigan of all places. It's almost better this way if you ask me.
Ignorance isn't bliss for the rest of us.
I was esp doubting Urb's forward planning/continued drive for the future when early signing day came and we were short on OL and DL, but you're exactly right. Idk how he keeps doing this, but UFM is proving me wrong and still is going 100%
Now to steal Walker from Penn State..
You can say that again!
I believe that he just did!
Hope we can get one of the remaining offensive lineman. Happy with the news about Friday. Go Bucks!!
I hope we can too, but if not, I'm guessing we'll see about 6 OL in next year's class.

Thanks KB. I'll have a full recap of both on Sunday!
I know you will. They should have sent ya, IMO.
162 tackles, 41 tfl, 12 pb, 5 sacks, 3 ff, 2 ints, 2 blocked field goals and a touchdown!?!?!
Is Virginia football subpar competition, or did 247 get this ranking wrong?
My word is bond.
They played an international schedule that included competition anywhere from lower-tier schools from Canada to IMG Academy.
As Andrew said, Teradja and his team played a national schedule(American Heritage, IMG, St. Frances Academy), and those are some very eye opening numbers. I think the middle of our defense is going to be just fine for years to come...
That's 11 PM Ohio time.
Boom! Andrew telling me what I want to hear!
What a good day.
THE University of Dayton
Until I see some changes I will question Urb’s play calling...but never do I question his recruiting and ability to build a program. Year after year simply fabulous. Seems always to have a plan b for plan b.
If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.
who the f downvoted this man?!
Any updates on our visitors this weekend?
Andrew won't speak to them until their visit is all wrapped up.
I know they’ve both arrived. I’ll have more on Monday, though.
With a full class and all the 4th year juniors returning, there has got to be some more transfers coming, but I can't really guess who they may be.
We are two scholarships over 85 now, right? And we are looking at taking 3-5 more guys?
Thats a lot of work to “make room” coming up this offseason.
Staff obviously has to have a good idea who else is leaving the program.
You win with people.
And so forth...
9 Units Strong!
It looks to me like this scholarship grid is up to date. Ohio State currently has 86 scholarship players. If they end up anywhere from 88-90, I don't think it'll be too hard to get down to 85 by the Fall. There will definitely be medical hardships and transfers, and the staff is aware of that. They're not gonna let someone commit without knowing they will have room.
Unfortunately I feel like Malik Barrow might be a medical hardship candidate. I hope not, because I've felt he could be a really solid DT, but that's just the feeling I get.
I don't disagree with this-he has suffered serious knee injuries two years in a row-I hope he can bounce back, but this type of situation often doesn't end well, on field wise.
Staff obviously has to have a good idea who else is leaving the program
Of course they do. They just don't tell people about it until they're ready. All is well.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Woody trolling the SEC.
I'll just leave this down here for another read and chuckle......
The Wolverines' highest-rated player, meanwhile, would be 15th in the Buckeyes' second-ranked recruiting haul.
Thursday night was tough for TSUN. FRIDAY was the cherry on top!!
I used to play sports, then I realized you can buy trophies.
All this talk about Harbaugh being the savior of the Michigan program... Well, they say "recruiting is the lifeline to great football programs"--- with Ohio State having 14 recruits rated higher than Michigan's top recruit, I'd say Michigan fans have to be very thankful for Rutgers, Indiana and Maryland... and it won't be long until DJ Durkin's Terps surpass Michigan in the East.
I see some think Rasheed Walker is trending to OSU. With Walker likely committing to his school of choice on NSD, does he have any visits with Penn State scheduled or in the works? What about in home visits?
I detailed it all here: https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting/2018/01/90...
TL, DR: He took his official visits to Penn State and Virginia Tech in December. He still as in-home visits left with all three head coaches, though.
The gap continues to widen.
As long as they perform according to their respective rankings. A lot of things can happen between recruitment and playing for the school that recruited them. Experience teaches that the ratings are sometimes indicative of success and sometimes not so much. FWIW, sometimes lower ranked recruits end up being better players than their rankings as well.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
So Andrew let’s talk final numbers for the 2018 class....with Friday’s commitment today that’s makes 23. Walker, JJB and now Oats are trending in OSU favor which would make 26. Then there’s still NPF and Maurice Washington. Evidently the recent visit from Urban and Co. was a home run for Washington and there’s talk if NPF’s official visit goes well he could commit also. I can’t see this class ending with 28 commits. Someone has to be left out
I would love to have that problem, but I highly doubt we get Walker and NPF. Better chance we get neither than both. I would love to be wrong.
I guess if your not able to compete on the team, yoy can transfer to another program where you can get playing time. I mean the scholarship is only 1 year at a time.
All B1G schools offer 4 year schollies only. Doesn't mean a kid can't transfer at any time, but there are no 1 year scholarships. Now the SEC, that's a different story.
According to 247Sports/Scouts final rankings, The Buckeyes’ 2018 class consists of just one 5-star recruit, Ruckerts. But I keep reading on this site that we’re getting anywhere between 4-6 5-star recruits. What gives?
People are probably referring to the 247Sports Composite, which takes into account the rankings from all the different scouting services. Ohio State currently has three 5-stars. Only other 5-star that they may have a legit shot at is Nicholas Petit-Frere, so the max is probably 4 but most likely gonna remain at 3.
Much better to take each recruiting site into consideration as opposed to just one, IMO. I always go with the composite rankings. Balances the bias that comes from some that wrongly give too much weight to attending their camps, etc.
Seems like a lot of transfers are coming down the road. Not sure how to “make room” for so many additional players.
If you want a little salt with your Friday and Oats, then by all means, look here :)
Does anybody know how many players OSU can take this class? They are acting as if there’s room for 27 or so, Oates, Baptist, an OL or two, and others
Haul in Oates!
Can or will we exceed all expectations ? Watching - waiting and hopeful. Too many discussing this 3 star or that 3 star. In another thread I suggested Nicholas Petite-Frere and Walker as a priority on OL and lost a helmet stickers. Oh I see what I did wrong. Welcome to the nut house.
