For all intents and purposes, for the entirety of his life it hasn't been...
In case you're curious, it's Mr. Spray
I'll be the contrarian. It's been a one-sided rivalry, but still a rivalry. As fans, we still get every bit as uptight for that game as we have in any other decade. I'm convinced anyone who says otherwise is lying. And the teams still care just as much too, which of course is even more important.
I don't disagree - but basically all he's ever seen is garbage from TSUN
It’s Beautiful, isn’t it?
"My god, it's full of wins"
ESPN starting the SEC channel to concentrate on the SEC is like Baskin-Robbins starting a new store to concentrate on selling ice cream.
Even Urban says, "The only good thing about the game is winning the dang thing."
And BTW is this Mr Spray or Mrs Pray?
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina I ka Pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. (Hawai'i state motto) Aloha nui kakou.
Seems like Mr. Spray and Mrs. Pray would make a good couple, if you think about it.
That’s a tough one, and don’t forget, it could be Mrsp ray. But I’m going with Mr. Spray.
You're not the first to ask - check the line beneath my posts ;)
Seriously? 11W guys are going to lecture Ruckert on "talking nice" to Michigan.
Is this FUCK MICHIGAN FRIDAY ON 11W ????
Zone6, with rotating WR's, will have 1000+ yards at all 3 WR positions this season
Tbf if he were the HC of this team and saying this I'd be extremely worried. The reason why OSU has been so successful in the Game dating all the way back to Tressel's first year is because Meyer and Tressel before him both acknowledge how important the rivalry is to OSU.
Tbf fair though if he were the HC and saying this I'd be extremely worried. Thankfully that's not the case. I'm pretty sure Urban would rather eat sand or lay on hot coals than refuse to acknowledge the rivalry game as anything less than what it is.
This is some Mike Hart level stuff. Coach Mick will make him pay accordingly.
Go Bucks, Deacs, Panthers, Braves
If Ruckert's gonna try to lose Ohio State the game, Marotti will need to get him to a place where he can singlehandedly win it.
Good luck these next several months, Mr. Ruckert. Tell Sisyphus I said hey.
+1 for Sisyphean reference!
I logged in just to upvote that Sisyphus reference.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
Thanks for the link, was unaware of the meaning. Now that I know, have to say Sisyphus was the first government worker.
Thank the Maker that I was born in Ohio, cradle of coaches, US Presidents, confederate-stomping Generals, and home of The Ohio State University Football Buckeyes- 2014 UNDISPUTED National Champions!

Hahahaha! Nice reference! That poor kid...
Yeahhhh not a good look. I really hope we limit bulletin board material to a minimum in the future, it almost NEVER turns out well. Stay humble and hungry kid.
I doubt this follows in the footsteps of the infamous Little Brother comment. As far as we know Urban Meyer isn't planning to retire after this season and sending OSU plummeting into the Dark Ages for a decade on his way out like Lloyd Carr did at scUM the same year Mike Hart made that comment.
As much as I dislike this comment because I believe in respecting the rivalry as much and I hate the other team, the kid is right. . .
The kid has a valid point. And I say that as a Gen Xer who keenly remembers the bad years. It takes two to make a rivalry, or at least to make it interesting.
If you think about it, for the most part TTUN has kept it interesting even while we have had the pleasure of winning. They have had some fairly pedestrian teams give us close games that should not have been as close as they ultimately were. Games have come down to last plays and OT that should not have been all that close.
I vividly remember TTUN fans and players sayin the exact same thing toward the end of the Cooper years. Look how the next 20 years turned out.
Never underestimate the ability of your enemy to turn things around, and never take a winning streak for granted. A poor coaching pick at tOSU and a good one for TTUN could flip this rivalry on its head in a heartbeat.
"You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, & in the manner in which you live.
So, live. Live. Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you. "
- Stuart Scott
Fair point but there is a bit of difference. Several times we were ranked ahead of them and in some cases we were still after they upset us. When we beat them now there is no use of the word upset.
Doesn’t change my point. Life comes at you fast. Enjoy this run of success, because you never know when it will end.
That's why I said it was a fair point because it carries weight. Though this seems a little different. We were relevant with a coach that didn't get the rivalry and UM has what most feel is the perfect coach that hasn't changed a thing. This has a Nebraska feel to it.
This is the problem with not recruiting enough Ohio kids.
I hate that I had to waste a click to go to italics because I KNOW HOW YOU PEOPLE ARE.
I wish I could upvote this twice.
If you are like the rest of us, you have multiple personalities.
Underrated user name too.
There are Ohio kids who don't know anything about Archie Griffin. Prolly don't know about Eddie George and others too............I know, I'm old. /s
Love he is already all in vs the Evil Empire
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
I say the same thing all the time...to the TTUN fans in my life, who absolutely flip their lid when they hear this. For even more fun, follow it up with a casual mention that "you know, I really feel like Sparty is a more important rival for the Buckeyes, due to all their recent success".
Punching a guy while he's down. Twice. Love the killer instinct.
Awesome. Salt in the wound right there.
Prepare to be schooled in The Rivalry.
There will be a quiz at the end, so pay attention.

It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
“Save yourself and relax during every game. I recommend a fine bourbon.”
He's not wrong....if you factor him being 17-18 years old.
Love it or leave it!
I've heard "Pain is weakness leaving the body." I wonder exactly how Urban and Mick teach him the corollary "Pain is naivete and ignorance of tradition leaving the body."?
Hard to not have that perception as a young person. We've been the better program for almost 20 years... pretty remarkable.
Gotta be careful not to let the younger guys take it for granted. Don't lose respect for the rivalry because that's when it will bite you in the ass. One loss to Jimmy and I'm quite sure everyone will instantly "get it".
Not sure why people don't like that comment. It's pretty obvious he meant it as a joke and slight against TTUN.
Something about not giving out bulletin board material I suspect.
"There's still some green showing before you see the chalk."
Does it really matter.....?
I'm sort of in the camp of not giving out any bulletin board material. Sometimes it fires up a team:
Maybe he forgot the edict on using italics...?
Love this kid, tells it like it is and has the bite to back up the bark!
Go Buckeyes and Go Lightning!
Ruckert is 0-0 in the rivalry, and he better figure out quick why it's the greatest rivalry in sports, or he could find himself on the wrong end of it fast.
Makes you wonder if he truly gets it and is just rubbing ttun's nose in it or if he truly doesn't understand the nature of The Game."
"Defiance in Silence"
Young players from “not Ohio” have little reason to “get it” based on recent history and very few young people understand that “those who ignore the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them”. So he will get an education during his time at OSU, but I hope it is purely academic and not grounded in the greatest teacher of all, pain of loss.
Amen to that
Most of us lived through those dark years in the 90's and had our heart broken multiple times by that team. Tressel started the turnaround and Urban is making sure nothing changes.
Damn right. That Team ruined the ‘93, ‘95, and ‘96 seasons, at a minimum. Beating them never, EVER gets old.
"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed, is more important than any other one thing." - Abraham Lincoln
And they did it with Ohio kids, Woodson and Howard, etc. That will NEVER fade.
Howard was a great talent back in the day - now he's just hard to watch.
Oh how beautiful 98 was except for that stupid Sparty game, worst birthday ever....

Yea, not digging that attitude. Youngster has a few things to learn. He will.
The Browns are no longer the worst franchise in all of professional sport.
I am the same age as Ruckert, so I definitely see where he is coming from. On the contrary, I have heard the horror stories from my dad about the 90's and all of the pain that came with those losses. To me, it is still the greatest rivalry in college football. Rivalries are known for the history behind the matchup, etc - not for both teams being highly ranked every year. That being said, I don't ever want to see Michigan as a good football team, and I wish for their suffering as we beat them each year and they stay 7-5.
*Message disapproved by Mark May*
Damn good stuff, Young TG. Mature and wise far beyond your peers and years.
You really don't want Michigan to be a great team ever? I would think it would be more satisfying to beat an undefeated or 1 loss Michigan team than beating a 3-5 loss team. If it was reversed and Michigan was on this run of victories don't get me wrong I would love it, but I would enjoy it even more to be able to ruin OSUs title hopes. That's just me.
Another example why it annoys me that recruiting and signees get any kind of attention and/or press. A high school kid who hasn't even had 1 practice at OSU just gave ttun bulletin board material by opening his mouth about something he doesn't know a damn thing about yet.
Someone school baby-face quickly... kid needs all kinds of growns-up in his life ..

I kinda want to make a thread on mgo but I dare not. They gon be maaaad
A man got to have a code...
Finally, a thread they won’t shut down because of internal strife.
Well, they linked this article and the reactions are pretty damn good.
No need for that. Let Michigan do the talking (like normal) and we’ll do the walking.
I hope this doesn't end up being our "Little Brother" comment Jeremy "Hart" Ruckert????
Good. Screw modesty. Ohio State owns Michigan and this run is going on 18 years of dominance. I love it.
Proudly dispensing unbridled arrogance since 1983.
Me thinks he's just bitch-slapping TTUN. And I love it.
Fields of Dreams
You have to show up and play in The Game at least once before you should open your mouth.
Even then it is better to keep the mouth shut and let your play do the talking for you. IMHO.
Bitch slap 'em off the field. Bitch slap 'em on the field.
100% WITH you Ruckert.
I am not saying that I don't support an Ohio State player who is confident. What I would like to point out is little statements over my lifetime that have been motivation in The Game:
"Michigan is nothing"
"We want to get Cooper fired"
There are just two from immediate memory. How much difference did they make? I don't know, but in The Game, or in any true rivalry where you throw out the records, sometimes the smallest thing can make a difference.
Better to be quietly confident, humble, and focused than giving away potential bulletin-board material.
You have to show up and play in The Game at least once before you should open your mouth.
You've got to play something...anything...before you start running your yap at a new level. He hasn't even played a single college practice rep yet. A little early to be having "hot takes" on anything college-related yet.
He doesn't get that...yet.
That's an awesome comment, I don't know why some people don't like it. The OSU/Michigan rivalry has been the best rivalry in CFB history, mainly due to the fact that both teams frequently met with Big 10 and national title implications on the line. For the past 17 years, Michigan hasn't held up their end of the bargain.
He'll get up to speed on "The Game" and hopefully be involved in 3 if not 4 more wins before he moves on......
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
Lest we forget Michigan STILL owns the all time series by 9 games. It's unfathomable the huge lead they once held, but 9 games is still pretty substantial to make up.
I appreciate the cockiness, but, kid, you don't even know. You don't even know!
That first part makes you sound like a ttun fan every time we bring up the record this century.
Joke must've went over some of your heads. It was a jab at ttun fans not the poster.
Yeah, I don't get why you got murdered for that. 90% of the people on this site will admit they watch Michigan every week, and most will openly say they hope Michigan wins every game until they play us.
Sure, it's what a Michigan fan would say - but if we were in their position, we'd say the same damn thing. The reason we want to beat them so badly is because we want to own the series, right? If someone is OK with not beating them more than they've beat us, simply because of recent history, then that person will have a long climb to the middle.
Yeah they own it because they were a powerhouse before any other program was. Their best years are pre-1940. If you start the all time series at 1908, OSU leads. And if you start it at any other date after that, the lead gets better for OSU. They have that cushion because they have wins before this was even a rivalry, or played annually.
You are correct. Ever since UM and TOSU officially joined the Big Ten, TOSU has the lead.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
9?! 9! We are down to NINE!!??
Ohh to think what UFM might accomplish.... and at Jimmy's expense all the sweeter....
As long as he doesn't say that there will be blood on the field, I won't be concerned.
Don Brown must've attended night school, because he got owned by Day.
I get Ruckert's sentiment, but there's no reason to give TTUN bulletin board material.
The reason we have won as much as we have against TTUN is because our coaches, players and fans take The Game more seriously than TTUN and their fans. Ruckert should take note of this.
The current TTUN fanbase is meek and accepts losses to their rivals. Shoot, when you watch the 2017 game in AA there were plenty of fans in Scarlet And Gray in the stands. You will never see the opposite of that in Columbus. Even during the Cooper years there were very few TTUN fans in the Horseshoe.
TTUN as a whole seems to lack a sense of urgency. Harbaugh just grimaces with an incredulous look and paces the sideline.
I lived through the cooper years and I am not scared to say this:
Michigan will NEVER dominate OSU again, Harbaugh isn't Meyer, Hell he isn't even Carr.
Harbaugh is 0-3 against OSU doesn't anyone here actually think he can win four straight against OSU?
Sorry CowCat, to me that is just silly. Michigan players and coaches don't take The Game as serious as the Buckeyes and that's why they lose? You don't think players are hungry to win that game because the entire team hasn't experienced a single win? I guess it has nothing to do with the fact that OSU is more talented, more experienced, just better overall every single year with the exception of Fickells season.
It's not silly.
Michigan used to pride themselves on beating OSU teams that had more talent overall. They relished in it. Just look at the Cooper years. Cooper recruited like the best and then got destroyed by no-names like Tishimunga Biakabatuka.
I attended school during the Cooper years. I never saw a win against Michigan. Finally the fans and the trustees got fed up and forced Cooper out, bringing in Jim Tressel, then Urban Meyer. The collective expectations for The Game are very clear now.
Sure, Michigan players want to win The Game these days, but they lack the fire to do so. Their fanbase doesn't show up, and they don't seem shocked when they lose, apart from Harbaugh whining about ball spotting.
Bo beat Woody in his first year when OSU was the heavy favorite to win the NC -- after he chased away a lot of players from the Michigan program. There should be no excuses. Win or lose.
I see what you're saying. Biakabutuka wasn't a no-name though he already had over 1400 yards that season before the OSU game. Michigan fans aren't shocked because it's been this way for quite awhile, and ya you would think being a rivalry game the less talented team (Michigan) could pull an upset here or there (Like in 69). To me, Michigan's records in the 90s didn't necessarily reflect their talent level. They underachieved every year with the exception of the OSU game and 97. I honestly thought Harbaugh would come in and at least win 1 by now, I was wrong and maybe you see more Buckeye fans in the Big House because fans are fed up. It's getting hard to say well next year there is hope. My dad has been a season ticket holder and a die hard since the early 70s and even he made comments about not going to The Game this year. (He did). Fans are just tired of it, especially when most thought the Richrod/Hoke mediocre at best days were over.
Always nice when young folks have their feet on the ground
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
One of my new favorite players. Considering he has yet to play this is quite the boast, but in his lifetime he is not wrong. TTUN has won twice during his existence. By his calendar Sparty is a bigger rival
"They say, "these geeks come a dime a dozen. I'm lookin' for the guy who's supplyin' the dimes." -Classy Freddie Blassie
As long as Michigan continues to hold to edge in the series, there is no way in my mind they shouldn't be considered a rival.
I've been through Ann arbor one time. I pulled over at a gas station and forced a poop.
Ah.. Youth.. LOL.. Just tell him he doesn't want to be on a Buckeyes Team that loses to scum..
Pigskins & Porkrinds
I'm 19 and I can only remember ttun winning once and been a huge buckeye fan since I was old enough to understand. So all I've ever known is buckeye dominance but my goodness it absolutely still is the greatest rivalry ever.
CARDALE JONES! CARDALE! JONES, THE WHOLE STATE OF OHIO IS COUNTING ON CARDALE JONES!
Dude...you owe us a tree now.
If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.
Michigan at this point is a second tier football program. I rank CFB teams as elite-1st tier-2nd tier and so on. My elite are Buckeyes, Bama, Okie, Clemson. 1st tier-PSU, MSU, UGA, Auburn, USC, Notre Dame, Miami, Wisconsin, TCU, FSU. I can not include Michigan with any of the fore mentioned. That basically puts them a top 15-25 team. They are a 8-10 wins per season team.
Don't really know how your basing this, but MSU 1st tier? Yes they've had a great run for a few years but...3-9 in 2016 should take them off that list. That is something I don't even think Harbaugh could do. Notre Dame 1st tier? Eh I suppose.
"You will Skywalker, YOU WILL!!!!"
"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
The only reason it is not one to him is because we have coaches at Ohio State who know it IS one.
I like the attitude, but don’t pretend to know anything about the rivalry until you play in it.
And never temp the football karma gods. Go outside and turn around and spit right meow.
Braving the long dark of the offseason
If he feels this way, can you imagine what junior high and high school students in Ann Arbor are thinking? (Once he starts college life, he will feel quite differently.)
While I admire Ruckert's bravado and appreciate his perspective, some of us who've been around longer are inclined to disagree.
I hope this doesn't become a Kyle Kalis-like statement that comes back to haunt him and us.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
Well, that's interesting. There's really nothing I can say. TOSU has dominated Michigan for a long time. No two ways about it.
Yep, I'm salty. But I don't have much to say. Only two things. First, the Wolverines need to show it on the field. And "this close" isn't cutting it. Until Michigan wins, and more than once every 8 or so years, there's no point in saying anything. Second, Michigan fans will and players will file this away.
EDIT: And FTR, a majority of those at Mgoblog agree with him. Bitterly, but they agree with him. Very painful. Especially for those of us who remember when it was a rivalry. I actually pine for the days of Bo and Woody, when both were winning. While it was fun to beat up on Cooper from a Michigan fan's perspective, when Bo and Woody were at the helm respectively, it was a real rivalry.
While it was fun to beat up on Cooper from a Michigan fan's perspective, when Bo and Woody were at the helm respectively, it was a real rivalry.
The record was even during the 10 Years War, but it is still, and always will be, a Real Rivalry. Much respect to UM. It will ALWAYS be The Game.
Jeremy Ruckert has never been to The Game, clearly. He will understand that it is a real rivalry once he is in the house for his first experience in The Game.
Win or lose, when Ruckert plays in his first The Game, and he gets a couple of ribs cracked on his first target or catch... he'll know what all the rivalry talk is about.
Hard hitting game, every year.
Blu - appreciate the perspective. I wish you were a little more hate-able. Go for it. I won't downvote you. Lol.
I have always been unconflicted about how I feel about the Tressel-Meyer era of dominance. We had a couple of decades where the rivalry went back and forth, but Michigan held an edge. Then came John "It's Just Another Game" Cooper. Words cannot describe the pain and frustration of seeing national titles and seasons ruined at the hands of TTUN.
When I was a 10 year old kid around 1974 I remember seeing the all-time record of the rivalry on the TV and TTUN held a couple dozen game lead. My older Buckeye mentors would tell me that margin was created when helmets were leather and the football looked more like a rugby ball. Still, it bothered me to no end. How do you make up 20-25 games? You don't and TTUN was +8 during the Cooper era which almost made me lose my mind. Some people would claim "almost" can be eliminated from that sentence.
Getting that margin under 10 has been a tremendous achievement, but I will not be happy until OSU erases the margin and has the all time lead in the series. It is the right and just thing, and it is our birthright as Ohioans. :)
That said, I can see becoming a little conflicted in the future. At some point, beating TTUN will become an assumption rather than a hope. It already is with younger Buckeye fans. I want a win over TTUN to always mean a lot and be special. I'm not sure that will be the case if we almost never lose to them. There is also a part of me that believes that Ohio State is better, and the B1G is better, when TTUN is highly respected and formidable. The truth that I don't like to embrace is that we are like jealous brothers who need each other to be the best versions of ourselves. But right now, that truth seems to be trumped by another one: I want that all-time margin to be in Ohio State's favor, and I can't shake my addiction to the schadenfreude I feel when TTUN loses any game, but especially one to Ohio State. The arrogance I have had to endure at the hands and upwardly positioned noses of TTUN fans over the decades is the cause of that schadenfreude, and makes it impossible for me to feel one damn bit of pity for their pathetic state - and forces me to want to see more of their humiliation. If that sounds like mental instability, that may be an essential requirement of being a member of Buckeye Nation.
One bone of encouragement I can throw to you is that eventually things tend to swing back the other way, and that humility is a great place to become great again from. But until that happens, may this current era of Ohio State dominance continue unabated, and may my thirst for schadenfreude continue to be slaked. :)
"Then came John "It's Just Another Game" Cooper. Words cannot describe the pain and frustration of seeing national titles and seasons ruined at the hands of TTUN."
Do you know how frustrating it was as a Michigan fan to see them beat OSU but drop games in those years they had no business losing? With the talent Michigan had in the 90s they shouldn't have been a 4 loss team as many times as they were. Don't get me wrong of course I loved ruining OSUs season, but it was frustrating to watch Michigan drop games to inferior teams. For me it got to a point where I expected it every year, and alot of fans started calling Carr Lllloyd.
Oh my. That young boy will learn. You don't say shit like that. It's spittin into the wind.
Meyer will correct him....stat.
Damn, this thread is full of grumpy old fogies.
I resemble that remark.
Maybe the kid was doing what young kids do, I for one I'm glad social media wasn't around when I was 17. Yikes!
Still, slow yer roll Mr Ruckert until the pads collide.
Despite the high cost of living, it still remains popular.
That's our job. Reminding the youth that they do not in fact know a darned thing.
Nah. Just a few guys like me who have seen the pendulum swing over the decades. I guess you don't recall the jokes in Ann Arbor during the 90's about "1-9-1 is the new area code in Columbus".
Sometimes you're the windshield, and sometimes you're the bug. Just a little perspective, D.
Now......g t f off my lawn, please !
Behold the chunky whoop ass.
He will find out soon enough
I liken the past 30+ years to the ebbs and flows of the stock market. We are currently on an unbelievable bull run (tOSU winning), but that bear is right around the corner, and Mr Ruckert doesn't have to tempt fate for our party to continue banging. He will be indoctrinated just like Dontre was or other characters who haven't lost in the rivalry, so not worried about his edumacation in the greatest rivalry of all sports. He just better bite when it is his turn!
"I don't apologize for anything. When I make a mistake, I take the blame and go on from there." - Woody Hayes
WIn/Loss records don't define this rivalry. He'll find out soon enough
Hopefully his ass can cash the checks his mouth is writing...
Why would he make such a irrefutably false statement? Easily explained: it's because he's from Long Island.
I am fairly certain Urban will change his opinion on this subject very soon.
Confident young lad, isn't he?
His first series in THE GAME, He will feel the difference in intensity. The hits will be harder, the effort will more intense. The emotions will be higher. Because this game is a measure of whether that year was a success. We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan.
Anyone else remember when a Michigan player uttered these same words just before OSU started this run?
What I’m looking forward to most is for when after a year of Marotti and Meyer making him pay for this, the week of the Game he’s going to look like one of those kidnapping ransom videos.
Staring straight ahead, fear of death in his eyes: “It...it IS a rivalry. “
This younger generation don't understand the torture alot of us suffered thru during the 90's. Even after all these years of domination it still haunts me. Never forget the skunk weasel fans parading about with their smug faces. All the heckling I went thru the list goes on and on. I never take flushing those turds forgranted.
18 Saturdays till kickoff
I feel like this gives Michigan a motivational advantage, just like the freshman quarterback who called are defense basic gave us a motivational edge. For this reason, I dont like the comment.
When it is the last game of the regular season every year and featured on national TV as well, and I could go on with quotes from lots and lots of players who say that it is the hardest-hitting that they have ever experienced in their lives. Lots more things could be mentioned as to why it is, and always will be, a rivalry.
Here's hoping you win a bunch of Gold Pants, Mr. Rucker. What are Gold Pants? Part of a real rivalry.
You will learn, young man. You will learn.
Seems that the context has been buried. He was asked if there has been trash talking between he and Michigan's TE.
"Ruckert said there is no reason to trash talk with Muhammad about their future rivalry game..."
In this context, proclaiming that the Buckeyes have been dominant for so long that he can't understand why it's considered a rivalry is tantamount to trash talking. Which makes it funny because he said "there's no reason to trash talk.." but then he goes on to essentially trash talk. Good stuff
Fvck! May he be blessed by the gods of college football with a helmet full of buckeye leaves.
56-46 in the past 102 years to our good. 10 games above .500. That’s with Coop’s 2-10-1 (or w/e it was) record against that team thing up north. Give the young man some time to study up on the long history of The Game and he’ll be ok. This will be another “we ain’t come here to play school” type of thing.
I used to think UFM stood for Urban F*cking Meyer
It's just a cultural thing, Jeremy, no worries - You see, in Ohio, we have to put sarcasm in italics. (I lived in NY for a couple decades - everything said there is just assumed to be sarcasm, and "sincerity" is put in italics.)
I let this simmer for a day, have a feeling Jeremy has a better understanding of things now.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Ohio State hasn't lost to Michigan in 6 years, don't be the first class to lose to Michigan!
I've definitely noticed Ruckert has that East Coast/Jersey Shore 'tude.................
Silly Freshman. I think I am going to reach out to him to sell him those elevator passes at the WHAC that I have.
Dear Jeremy, UM absolutely OWNED OSU back when touchdowns were 5 points and no one wore helmets.
The lord of brevity.
If you want to see the bad guys thoughts on it:
"Because the rules won't let you go for three." - Woody Hayes
THE Ohio State University
Jeremy... you don't YET know. You will, soon, and from many directions & perspectives - from great to... far less.
He probably remembers only ONE TTUN win (2011 - the kid was 2 or 3 in 2003 so I doubt he remembers that one, either). I understand the idea that a rivalry should be more back and forth.
HOWEVER, as lopsided as the rivalry as been the last 17 years, he should cool it with that talk. Let's not forget the 13 years prior to these last 17 were also lopsided - the other way. That's the same kind of shit talk you'd hear from TTUN back in the late 90s when they were dominating the rivalry. This kind of attitude can lead to things swinging back in the other direction (like it did in our direction in 2001). Jimmy is probably posting this quote all over their facilities (or will when he gets back from his latest sleepover).
Class of 2010.
Rivalry History 101 should be a required freshman course.
Uhhh, we're still behind by several games in this rivalry so...this kid better learn what it means real quick.
Stop abandoning the running backs.
I've been alive long enough to see both ends of the spectrum and even I have to say it's basically been a joke as of late. The rivalry is currently less about the team and more about the fans and the history than anything else. But that is because we the fans carry that around with us year in and year out. UM is a dumpster fire. And it's not gotten much better under the current regime.
There can be only one
Well I would say it's gotten better. Hasn't produced wins but Richrods teams the game would be over before halftime.
His heart is in the right place, even if his head quite isn't.

I can admire the confidence. Despite the recent lopsided nature of the rivalry, the rivalry goes back way longer than the past 15 years. Doesn't necessarily define what makes a rivalry or not.
Think Michigan really messed up on this one. Not sure how you miss on a TE as a pro-style offense that relies on the blocky-catchy types as much as it does. Bummer.
Honestly I was worried he'd go up North because you guys have a history of utilizing your TE much more than us.
I hope we can get the most of out him because there's no doubt he's a special talent
That's what's perplexing to me. As impressive as OSU is, TE isn't really a featured position. HB, H-back, dual threat QB? Absolutely! TE? Sure, you've put a guy or two in the league, but nothing to make me think he'd be an integral part of the offense. But, like you said, he is a talented kid, jury is still out on how he's utilized.
He may be one of those guys you take in the draft based on talent more than production on the college level regardless. We'll see.
As soon as he gets hit in the mouth during rivalry week practice he will understand.I still remember the cooper years and that always sticks in the back of my mind.as long as urban is here I don't think it will ever be as bad.

Someone talk to this young man
Doesn't mean the games haven't been competitive, but it's been one team or the other. Hope he doesn t think we walk on the field and we win...very intense game.
