Tough row to hoe for Ash at Rutgers, but he might make them respectable. Schiano managed it.

Zone6, with rotating WR's, will have 1000+ yards at all 3 WR positions this season

Rutger's get's to finish the 2018 schedule @Wisconsin, then home for tTUN and Penn State, and finally @ Sparty.  A step or two up from the Big East.

Based on that schedule, the NCAA should authorize hazard pay for the players, the coaches, and the staff

I've always liked Ash and wish him the best in NJ. But I've always wondered what the conversation between him and Urban went when Rutgers came calling. Ash: "I'm going to take the Rutgers job." Meyer: "Congratulations, Chris and thanks for your service at OSU. You're the guy to take over at the birthplace of football. Just to be clear, I'm going to try and take every talented kid out of NJ that I can and I'm going to teach the rest what losing by 50 every year feels like. But good luck."

True Jack, but since Rutgers is in the Big Ten now it might take a bit longer; they played four top 25 teams, plus Nebraska and tsun last season.

Maybe like when Dan Mullen took the Mississippi St job. Hopeless program stuck in the SEC West with Bama, LSU, and Auburn. Took a while, but Mullen made them respectable.

And, when Urban was offered his first HC job. he called Lou Holtz and told him he might not accept it because BGSU was such a losing program. Holtz shot back, "Well, if they were any good, they wouldn't want YOU!"  Kinda like that. Ash got his first HC gig. Good for him.

I like the rotation the entire d line uses for sure but Landers getting more snaps next year sounds great to me. He’s been a disruptive force since he’s stepped onto the field. With some expanded reps this season I can see him get 12.5 TFL as opposing OL’s try to figure out trying to double and triple team Bosa or Young or Jones or etc....

Keep fighting CalPoppy

HS
Seattle Linga's picture

Well said and I agree - the D Line may not be as rich next year but that might not really matter. Plus we'll see the NKOTB and what they can bring.

Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!

HS
Sanantonefan's picture

I know he is undersized, but it seemed that every time Landers was in there, he disrupted plays in the backfield. Camping out in your opponent's backfield time after time has to be just as effective as swallowing up blockers. It's not always the size of the dog in the fight...

You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!

HS

Spot on! Landers always seems like he's disrupting the offense. His motor seems boundless.

The final score of the men's bball game last night is a result of the "trap game" that Northwestern fronted them with late in the 4th quarter..it might have been the first time all season they have faced that much pressure in the back quart..we were able to pull out the win though, and they way our guys handled it is the difference between a good team, and a great team..

HS
Schizo's picture

Agreed. They also have a tendency to start slow and give up way too many turnovers. Hopefully things get cleaned up before Feb 7th.

HS
WezBuck28's picture

They were making some poor passes early, forcing passes that weren't there..Jallow forced 2 turnovers on back to back possessions..he didn't come off the bench the rest if the night..

HS
Sanantonefan's picture

They might well have lost the game last year--or maybe even earlier this season. They have certainly made great strides!

I won’t be able to make that match but I will for sure be looking for it on TV. Kyle Snyder is other worldly. Can’t wait to see what he does in life. UFC champion? Next WWE mega star?

Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.

I'll be at the Schott on Sunday to catch the WrestleBucks in action, and I can't wait. It's been a while since I've been to see them live.

Nice win by the BasketBucks, really nice win. Didn't have the best shooting night, but they pulled through. And good love Micah Potter and his 13 points!

Apparently Rutgers will run a pro-style offense next season, with only the most elite elements of the spread offenses sprinkled into it.

I love when OSU faces pro-style offenses. The least scary offense of all. Hey college coach, college offenses win college games.

Disclaimer: Iowa.

That'll be a disclaimer for a long time, unfortunately. Ugh.....

BBL is one of the guys you want to succeed - if nothing else to smash stereotypes about being "undersized".

More reps?  Yes please.  He needs a couple of more opportunities to scoop 'n score! [somebody please insert gif below]

Whether or not the Sweden killings were the Yorkshire Ripper or not, someone killed those women, and an am glad that someone is still investigating the cases. I will be curious to see the follow up when Lundqvist gets the results from the DNA test on the hair. Interesting wmd as usual from DJ.

I will admit that at turned off the basketball game with about 10 minutes to go, as it seemed all but over. The Cats had not shown they could score enough up to then. Now that I see the BasketBucks had to overcome some late adversity, that will bode well down the line.

The number of D linemen this team has on an annual basis who are good players is almost embarrassing. Keep up the rotation and everyone gets to have some fun and stay fresh

I wondered aloud while looking at the glow-in-the-dark plastic stars taped to the ceiling of "my" house.

I put up those stars on my bedroom ceiling when I was around 6 years old.  I'm close to 42 now.  36 years and to this day they still glow in the dark and are still stuck to the ceiling back home.  That's some space age adhesive and glowing agent right there man!

HS
Sanantonefan's picture

One of my kids moved out and we made a room into a study. The glow in the dark stars were still on the ceiling. My wife said, "we can take down the stars, but you'll have to repaint the ceiling." My response: "I love those stars!"

Man is this ever the truth. I tried taking them down after I sold my house, trying to do the buyer a favor. What a miserable experience, and I don't think they appreciated my effort -- there was a painter there days after closing.

Since Kyle Snyder has conquered the wrestling world, face it, he is like a cat playing with his food, the way he can toying with his opponent, isn’t it time for him to move on to a new challenge…

I’m thinking “Middle Linebacker”!!!  He can still enjoy making take downs, and I can see a blitz ending with a suplex of the qb.

When players say they are prepared for the League and scouts and coaches concur that is definitely something to be noted. Several ROY awards support this too. Okay, Browns, who is your 2018 Johnny Manziel/Mike Junkin?

HS
brutus360's picture

OMG! Just when I'm getting excited about the upcoming draft for the Browns, you make a Mike Junkin reference!!! Wasn't he suppose to be "a maddog in a meat market"??? Look for Minnesota to draft Billy Price after what they found in Pat E.

Ha, those are never healing wounds. I just got done looking at another mock draft and had such a good feeling. Then I read your post and my good feeling changed. I want to say Damn you, but I should thank you for slapping me back to reality.

although he has apparently never drafted a Buckeye, Dorsey has some cred based on his work at KC. Hopefully he won't screw this draft up.  So many picks.  Looking forward to some good picks and some deals for players/etc.

I agree. The Browns really have an opportunity to get quality, talented playmaking weapons who start from day one with at least their first 5 picks.  And with all their picks, they can really get some quality depth and some gems. With plenty of money to spend on free agents to boot. Oh boy, I'm getting optimistic again...This draft could and should change and turn around this team, and quickly.

I was at the gym earlier and Sportscenter was on. Normally I would ignore it, but Mel Kiper Jr had his first mock draft of the year unveiled. He has the Browns taking Josh Allen at 1 and Saquon at 4. That would have to improve the offense, at some point. Throw in Duke Johnson and Crowell and maybe the Brownies will move the ball at least.

I love those first two picks! I personally think Allen has a better arm and moxie than the big two at qb. The fact Kiper has picked him though makes me want to change my mind. They can get two wr’s with the next two picks and you’ve got instant offense.

I called in to Mark Packer's show to talk Buckeyes basketball the other day. He cited the same thing about the team being ahead of schedule and statistically dominant and heaped praise on this team's effort and coaching. It's good to see the team getting some credit outside of this board. They've just got to not run out of gas down the stretch.

I don't follow the draft all that much besides maybe the first and second round and obviously I keep tabs on the Buckeyes so I don't know if the Browns had the chance to draft all the following, but the fact that in the last few years the Browns have passed on Bosa, Michael Thomas, Lattimore, Elflein, Corey Linsley, Taylor Decker (yes I know they had Joe Thomas but still), Elliott.... It's just indefensible.
