They’re playing with so much confidence now, the squad has completely transformed from earlier in the season. They came out to start the 2nd half and stepped on the throat of their opponent, back-to-back games now.
So much fun to watch - this is sooner than I expected. I’m placing no expectations on the team, I’m enjoying the ride. Go Bucks!
…But I had better see them ranked next week, or else
Make preparations in advance. You never have trouble if you are prepared for it.
Ohio St basketball is a pleasure to watch again.
The world is yours
It bothers me that the yellow switch palace hasn't been hit yet in this GIF...
And now that you mention it, it bothers me too. Haha
When this teams best player is draining 3s, no one can stop us.
Even more impressive, watch his defense this year.
Can't wait for our big revenge game against Rutgers on Sunday.
I never thought I would ever type that.
"Medicine is not a science" - Leo Spaceman
I had forgotten that. Ewww.
Crazy to say as well, but Rutgers is a great defensive team. They are ridiculously physical, fouling out 4 guys against MSU last night.
They are pretty terrible on offense, but if they hit their shots, it could easily be the closest game the Buckeyes play in conference. Never thought that would be a possibility 6 games into the conference schedule.
I play, coach stays. He goes, I go.
Oh shit, I just checked and they took MSU to overtime last night. This is gonna be a tough one.
"Tough" is a stretch, taking a team we beat by 16 to OT isn't that worrisome, they've also lost to teams like Hartford and Stony Brook. Should be a blowout
"The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish" - Charlie Chaplin
Touche.' But they also beat a ranked team , Seton Hall. All I am saying is they play hard and besides Sparty, they will be the best defensive team we have played in conference.
I think we will win because they really struggle on offense. But I would not be surprised if it is an ugly 68-60 'grind it out' type of win.
This team is on fire!

Playing great basketball! KBD is a STUD
Good complete team victory! It was nice to see Joey Lane knock down a triple at the end of the game!
Get dumped then
There is no offseason, only basketball season.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
great effort, great shooting and keep working! Get better everyday!
Thanks for the fun of Bingo, IP. Although I do have to say much more enjoyable with a win.
Gotta go out on a limb here and say We’ve really made some strides since barely missing the NIT last season ! Lol :) loving it !!!
Buckeye radio announcer Ron Stokes keeps saying that the Buckeyes are an NCAA team.
Hope they continue to play well. Three road games in 6 days is daunting, but one game at a time.
Beat the tough and nasty Rutgers squad !
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
Hooah Go Bucks!
"Old minds are like old horses; you must exercise them if you wish to keep them in working order."
Great win, hopefully they'll take care of business the 3 games next week and let the B1G know they're a contender for the B1G Championship.
KBD is a Boss.
Holtmann is a Wizard.
Glad to see the 12 people that showed up tonight got a chance to see a dominating performance.
I’ll be at the Minny game at MSG. Can’t wait for you to complain about that game too.
Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory lasts forever. -Falco
Bet you're fun at parties.
Keep winning and the people will come watch.
They are fun to watch. They are shooting so much better this year. They look in balance when shooting. It helps to have good ball movement as opposed to kind of walking through their offense. Good screens create open shots. Building for the future, and KBD’s development this year has been off the charts. He showed flashes but I didn’t think he’d be this good.
Good screens create open shots.
Yes, the Buckeyes finally seem to understand picks (screens). Last season they kept getting offensive fouls (and turnovers) because they were still moving when setting them. Glad they have bought in on Holtmann and staff's teaching on that, and that it's paying dividends.
Actually the ball handlers are waiting for the screener to set himself. Crean said it, they’re playing at the proper pace. Beautiful to watch.
the ball handlers are waiting for the screener to set himself
Right, OGiJ, it takes two. It's bad if the player with the ball, or about to receive the ball, doesn't use the screen correctly. He also can mess up if he doesn't move closely past the screener. This may require practicing screens over and over until both players do it right. It seems the Buckeyes are accepting coaching on this, whereas last season, not so much.
That was fun to watch! I love this team right now, have to keep it rolling at Rutgers on Sunday! 5-0 in the Big 10!
Very impressive win!
The offseason is the longest season.
Amazing!!! Is it possible that a buckeye head coach can win coy?
Unlike the football COY award, which is cursed, the basketball one is very winnable. Matta won it 3 times.
Yeah but I'm thinking Naismith Award
Thank you Chris Holtman. This is so fun to watch.
Wait til he gets a couple more recruiting classes in here.
He's already turning heads with this team.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
A solid win in nearly all phases of the game. I love the ball movement and the fact that we have multiple players scoring buckets and contributing in other important ways. A team it is!
"Most Noahs have two of everything, he's got four tonight" - Gus Johnson on Noah Brown's 4 TD catches against Oklahoma.
...on 32 made field goals. Holtmann said he's happy they are making the extra pass to find the open guy, and praised them for finding Keita the moment he gets open.
AND only 9 turnovers, 3 of which happened in the last 1:34 after Holtmann replaced all the regulars.
A world of difference from what we’ve become accustomed to.
That was fun! Brings back memories of the good ol days (5 yrs ago)
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
Oh what a difference a day makes
Good win guys, congrats!
16-2 is SWEET!
Great energy on the team this year! Love seeing us go 8-9 guys deep.
Who needs a Wooden when you have KBD?
I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.
(Need help posting gifs on mobile)
Fun to see a former walk-on from Xichigan who barely saw any playing time in Ann Arbor become such an important contributor to the our team in Andrew Dakich. He really steadies the team when he's on the floor.

UM's loss is OSU's gain.
Ok, I'll take credit for their season turn around. They started playing better after I saw them in person in Portland at the Phil Knight tournament (and our loss to Gonzaga in which we looked pretty bad). As long as I don't watch them in person, we should be a final 4 team!
No more live games the rest of the season for you GB!
The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win. -- Woody Hayes
Don't sleep on Rutgers, they played well at MSU and lost in O.T. I'm sensing foul trouble will get them in trouble there, Referees home cookin, plus Rutgers have extraordinary guard play. GO BUCKS 6-0!!!!!
I noticed Kaleb Wesson didn't play much in the second half, hope he's not injured, but his brother had some quality minutes. Kam is playing a little more consistently, and I think maybe Micah Potter is finding the range. There is still a lot of unexploited potential on this team and the role players are all showing improvement, more or less. We'll have to see how far they go, but it's fun to watch this team develop.
K Wesson wasn't as effective as he usually his since Maryland had 2 7-footers down low. I think it was a calculated move by Holtmann to go smaller and quicker, especially with Maryland playing so much zone, we really didn't need an inside presence since we were hitting midrange shots and 3s. Then we were able to stretch them and hit them with a few drives to the basket.
That was fun again! I was a little worried when we got off to a slow start, but that 13-0 run that took us from down 7 to up 6 was great to see. And getting 11 points from Dakich was obviously a huge unexpected bonus, especially since KBD hadn't really heated up yet. Nice to see we kept them at arm's length in the entire second half. Also loved the 25 assists on 32 made FGs. Just about the only thing that we didn't do well was avoid fouls in the second half. Good thing the game was pretty much out of reach, and they had 2 straight 0-2 trips, but I'd like to see us be a bit more disciplined down low and not "swat" so much with our arms. Overall it was great to see us not have a let down game after a big win Sunday. Now we get to take the show on the road for 3 straight games. Let's keep it rolling! Go Bucks!
That 13-0 run grew into a 24-4 run.
While I was hopeful to see the Buckeyes be much more competitive this year, I didn't see this season as being any more than transitional in nature. The start of this season has really been especially exciting to see. Stay focused and healthy! Go Bucks!
The game was determined by the play of young Dakich making his 11 point run in the first half and does Dan Dakich agree
I’m afraid that Andrew has now replaced Aaron Craft as Dan Dakich’s favorite Buckeye of all time. Sad.
Holtmann could win Tressel's senate seat right now.
I can only imagine how the game would go if OSU would rein in the turnovers and stop being out rebounded on the offensive glass. Hmm.
Hard to rack up offensive boards when you are shooting the ball as well as we are. 17-29 on threes tonight.
Can't get offensive boards when you're shooting at a high percentage and fighting for offensive boards is somewhat overrated unless you're the C or the ball will clearly hit rim. our guys like to get back in transition. i watch the warriors do this all the time
Dakich shooting more? Been saying all along. I rest my case. Now we are finally playing 5 on 5 when he's running the point. Just makes this team more dangerous down the road.....
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
Bucks have a three-game road trip now @ Rutgers, Northwestern, and Minnesota @ MSG in NYC. I'm anxious to see how TOSU plays away.
Go BasketBucks. Hone those skills.
I am not very smart, but I recognize that I'm not very smart. --- W.W. Hayes
I had a class with Joey Lane today, and somebody was teasing him about getting to play tonight. Funny he got to get out there.
I love watching basketball again!! Even when they lose they play hard and are aggressive. Something we haven't seen for a few years. This team is a joy to watch. No fear, that's what I love about it. There is absolutely no fear. They just go play...
Gotta love it.
The turnaround of this team is actually quite amazing
Last year we won exactly 1 conference game by 9 or more points (a home win late February against Wisconsin by 10).
This year we have all wins by 9 or more.
We did not get our 5th conference win last year until the 12th conference game in early February (ie 5-7 at that point)
we were 1-4 last year after 5 games with a 10 point loss to Minny and a 23 point loss to Wisky. We had already lost 2 home conference games
The you start thinking about how last year we had a returning PG who had started the year before, a return key player at SG, 3 veteran Forwards, a returning starting center and a full roster of back ups/recruits
This year we have a former walk on grad transfer as a back up PG and a JUCO former back up as the starting PG, a true freshman Center, another back up guard who is now on scholly who is a former walk on (Lane), a 17 year old who should be a SR in HS, etc, etc..
We didnt get our 14th win until early February last year to make us 14-10 at that point, at the 18 game mark we were just 11-7
quite surprising to say the least
