Because who wouldn't want to be coached by Zach Smith every day? Come on down Dylan Wright.

The best way to recruit WRs is to have a QB who can throw to them in games. Looking forward to seeing Dwayne Haskins/ Joe Burrow/ Tate Martell be the next great QB.

HS
awlinBrutus's picture

Yep, gotta throw the deep corner routes and crossing routes. At least be able to lead a RB in the flats  instead of behind or over his head.

MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS

Is it at all possible to have any type of thread on 11W in which someone doesn’t try and dump all over Barrett?

I doubt it, this site is littered with young entitled pups that think their interwebs voice is king! 12-2 B1G Champs is not good enough. All the while, they yell up to their mom to microwave more pizza rolls! Downvote me, I dare you.

Step up and tell me why you gave me a dv??

This is the PROBLEM , Nobody wants to debate anything, they disagree and want to silence or downvote a disagreement. It's very sad!

I used to play sports, then I realized you can buy trophies.

You want to debate?

Let me give you a suggestion.. put forth a coherhant argument and stop relying on ad hominem to push your position... In fact, you might want to clarify what your position actually is.

The only thing I can draw from your comment is that you are a very angry person, and "12-2 B1G champs".

Are you saying that JT is the reason we won 12 games, or are you saying he is the reason we lost two games? Is the B1G championship suppose to be the nail in the coffin when it comes to JT Barrett discussion. Is your position that he is underrated as a passer by the fans, or that he is somehow good for WR recruiting?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in reading your comment it sounds like the last thing in the world that you want is a debate about JT Barrett... but then you go on to beg for it like a tough guy.

I come to these comments every night because I want to read and participate in spirited debate about Ohio State football. We don't always agree with each-other, but as long as it doesn't devolve into personal attacks, it's usually pretty fun and reasonable.

As far as I can see, you are part of the problem. Think about that next time you want to debate somebody.

This is not a debate of who what, It is a question of why 12-2 is not good enough???

Demanding greatness isn't a bad thing. I would love to forget some of those years where we hands down had the best team in the nation but choked against Meat Chicken. Thanks for the memories John Cooper. "Remember it's just another game."

But when you look at the NFL success of players that JT had around him and couldn't win a title. That's what we remember.

2015, JT has Michael Thomas and only managers to throw for 46 yards against Sparty. 46 yards. In an entire game. Thomas is averaging double that in the NFL against NFL CBs. Add in multiple starting NFL lineman in front oh him (Decker, Elflien, now Price), a RB like Elliot, and 2 other pass catchers that both are in the league and getting reps (Brown and Vannett). So he had an NFL roster and couldn't beat Michigan State.

I could go into more detail in the following 2 seasons about how the defenses were elite and very good respectively and yet the offense, which is run by the greatest QB in Big 10 history, couldn't muster up anything against the top competition. JT backers point to the career stats, but I like to look at the individual games, in the loses to Sparty (2015), PSU (2016), Clemson (2016), OU (2017, and Iowa (2017) JT threw for under 200 yards per game, 56 comp. %, and a 7 to 11 TD to int ratio. Don't pretend that those numbers don't tell the truth about Barrett. He was good against teams with lesser talent but when the talent around him wasn't vastly superior, he flaked. I loved him as a representative of the university and he did everything right by me, but if you want to say he was "Good enough" then that's your opinion, but some of us look at the success the other players have had at the higher level and have to wonder how that didn't translate in college.

I will pound and pound you until you quit

search all 11W threads.   Are there not thousands already that do not do what you characterize as a "possibility...of any type"?

Sadly, [probably unintentionally], your post is not among them.

It is a human irony that, without self-control, we often do the very thing we 'come out' against.

The offense is just different with JT at QB not better or worse just different. No knock on Barrett but I am excited to see a change in offense, well hopefully

Andrew, you mentioned that the WR position for 2019 is pretty deep.  With several seniors at the position expected next year, how many receivers do you think the staff is looking to take for 2019?

HS

zone six will have no where to hide..either catch it or have it bounce off your grill. whoever wins the qb job will be putting the ball on the money...this I am sure.

If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

Though he's never been to campus, you can bet Wright will seriously consider taking a trip to Columbus when junior prospects can start taking official visits in April.

Andrew: Prior to the recent rules changes that created the December early signing period and allow rising seniors to start taking officials in April of their junior year, the OV timetable naturally gravitated to fall home games. Do you think we are going to see a switch with a lot of kids taking OVs in the spring, i.e., for spring games, or do you expect most of them to stick with the old plan so they can enjoy the pomp and pagaentry of a home football game? Is the window permanently open starting in April or is it open only for a short period of time? Could this change have a significant impact on the future recruiting landscape the way the early signing period has?

Not Andrew but unless a kid is dead set on making a summer decision, most will still be in the fall.

Interesting. Per 247, he's the #1 CB in the 2020 class but only the 34th best overall player--I'm used to seeing the top cornerback ranked higher. I wonder how his 2020 ranking translates into 2019's class?

I'm really not surprised to see our WR coming back. They have been seeing the potential of our passing game for a couple years now. Haskins will absolutely light things up. Give him some time and actually catch the ball (Mr. McLaurin). Their potential draft stock could rise thru the roof with Dwayne slinging the rock 400 yards per game.

It's put up or shut up time. Whomever wins the QB battle (Haskins) should have a killer year in 2018. It's go time!!! If Haskins doesn't prepare this offseason and spring then watch out for Martell. Martell is a gamer and he is hungry

Interesting that you single out McLaurin when I remember ALL of them dropping multiple passes over the last year alone (with the exception of Mack). Lots of progress to be made in the WR room.

This is my boss's son.  He balled out down there in San Antonio and is reaping the rewards from doing so.  #6 QB in the class but pro-style.  If the Badgers can hold on to him, they will be getting a kid who should arrive on campus at 6'5" 230lbs.  He has a cannon and a sweet touch.  It wouldn't be going out on a limb to say he could possibly start as a freshman.

Harghblow visited him today.  I joked and asked if he brought his pajamas.
