Excited for the rest of this season and to see my Buckeyes play meaningful basketball! Love the job Coach Holtmann is doing, keep it up and let’s see where this season takes us!
The way this team played tonight, come march they may win the national title. Stifling defense and great offense
First time I've been watching a game thinking, "Damn! I'd like to be there!".
We train to fight and we fight to win.
In a long time.
Haven't heard an Ohio State basketball crowd that raucous since Gary Williams had St. Johns rumbling back in the day!
True leadership exhibited there all around and bringing the intended fruit...enthusiasm! Feels so good! What are we gonna do today guys? Disembowel the #1 team in the country with ease! It'll be fun!
Still very early, but he's making his case for BIG COY (wait, is that allowed to be given to us in basketball?).
Probably going to Ferentz
Could feel the energy from the Schott through the TV.
Like the season, I didn't have high expectations going into this game...but I'm glad I stuck around.
Got M...igan gossip? Bang it here.
Moribund DJ? Great game for the Bucks!
So nice to actually be able to turn my tv up at home and hear the basketbucks make some noise. I am really impressed by the job Holtmann has done in such a short period of time. The defensive intensity has been the difference, not to mention KBD being back healthy. Excited to see the rest of the season. Go Bucks!
We don't give a damn about the whole state of *ichigan.
Get on the Band Wagon DJ, we're going to take you for a ride.
It had to be the Cane's!!!
Why does Dublin have so many round-abouts? Because everyone in Dublin thinks they have the right-of-way.
And so it begins.gif

I would enjoy the feeling of energy in the Ohio State basketball program. Keep grinding, men.
I think this Holtmann guy is gonna work out.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
I have been around the whole time....but let me tell you...the Buckeye Bandwagon is much more fun when it is full of fans...WELCOME ABOARD DJ!!! (and others)
I actually enjoyed the beer this time ....and...I had fries (over 70)
I love the energy and attitude on this team. I think DJ was being generous; I stopped going to games when it began to feel like I made more of an effort to get to the games than the players did playing it.
Best game I watched since Craft and company destroyed Duke....
It is great to be able to enjoy Ohio State basketball again. Haven’t really been able to enjoy it that much since D Russell’s only season. It’s been a rough couple of years, but Holtman is clearly doing a great job, and has the Buckeyes on a fast track toward an NCAA tourney bid!
We will fight to the end for OH-IO!
80 points = BIG MAC
So this is the first college basketball game I've ever gone to and I had a blast. My seats were in the nosebleed section in section 309 but I didn't care. I was able to see everything. It was loud and everybody was jumping around screaming at every turnover and point scored. I had a blast and I definitely want to attend more games. Several hours later I'm still buzzing over the the manhandling of MSU. I did feel very nervous for the first 5 minutes or so of the game and kept waiting for that moment where we stalled and gave up the 20 point lead but it never happened!
Great article OP. I tuned in..hoping against hope that the game would be worth watching,if only for a little while. Was I ever wrong.I ended up screaming and yelling at the TV and watching a team throttle the former #1 ranked team.....and never let them recover. I haven't felt that way about Buckeye basketball in a very long time.We truely live in a golden age of Buckeye sports, and I'm loving every moment. GO BUCKS !
KBD gonna get paid big time if he keeps it up.
As someone posted in another article, the B in KBD stands for buckets. I like that!
TG Proud Buckeye alumnus.
It is great to see Buckeye basketball back, even better most of the younger guys are Ohio kids. It was miserable watching the NCAA tournament last year and seeing all the Ohio kids lighting it up for other teams.

The reason why the Schott does not rock consistently is due to to the general attitude of fans. As today showed that building can be very loud. The Kohl Center is of similar size and somehow it is widely recognized as much more intimidating. I've been in a lot of very loud games (I rarely miss a home game) in that building and it was great to see it again today. Anyone can show up and cheer at a big game...it's all the other games that build a base of attitude and tradition.
Just my $0.02 rant...
There is nothing shorter than OSU fans memories when it comes to basketball...
I can't imagine anyone has given Holtmann a harder time than me. But I'm impressed and would be in love if it keeps going.
My big takeaway is this: This team was close. Not close to a title but close to so much better than they were. A healthy KBD, maybe a some new voices (assistant coaches are mega upgrade over what was left after Boals took off) and better roles. This wasn't a dumpster fire -- they beat MSU last year, beat #4 two years ago and three years ago won 24 games/made 2nd round -- despite the lazy narrative that keeps getting pushed.
But I do blame Gene for almost costing it all with the worst possible timing ever. He remains a clown.
I obviously do not follow the UM hoops program closely....but any explanation on why Dakich was basically the last man on the Michigan bench for 3 years, and is now giving the Bucks some quality minutes?
Orange Whip? Orange Whip? 3 Orange Whips!
Looking at the information provided, you could certainly argue that a great deal of the improvement is off of the additional minutes that are actually played. I recognize however, that this is not really the answer, as there has to be a reason that he gets the increased minutes.
I do not doubt that other things than playing time, in addition to the additional minutes, have gone into his improvement at so many areas.
But a side aspect that continues to hit at me, is the fact that the Buckeyes have a short roster. Dakich has to have additional minutes because there are not a lot of other players behind him.
Beyond all that, I have to look at the high determination that he must have. To have made the decision to transfer, in light of the rivalry, in light of his Father, etc., to make such a step must have been a huge, huge decision. I don't care about the graduate transfer aspect, he had that possibility to any other school that might have him. Everything aligned for him to OSU, and it must not have been easy for him. I could only imagine the influence of his friends on the team, the friends he had made at school, and all.
I just think there was a decision he made to accomplish a lot more, not just to waste a year playing college ball before having to get a job. I would bet that there is some strong determination that was specifically made and we enjoy the result of his decision. Purely my speculation.
