That was an impressive performance. Bates-Diop coming into his own as is the team too.

Simply can't say enough about what coach Holtmann and his staff have done with the lack of scholarship players and team depth they inherited. Thanks for restoring hope to the BB Buck program.  Kudos to the staff and also the players for believing and buying into the new system.

No coach had beaten No.1 teams with different teams in successive tries since.

Well, until tonight.

I was making parallels to that Illinois game the entire game. Was worried about foul trouble on our bigs early but we kept it together it superb fashion - Bates diop doesn’t have a pulse ! Money from everywhere on the floor.

his successor is matching his fast start in Columbus - and in at least one case, historic fashion.

Wow, never figured it hadn't happened more frequently

Eh, it kind of makes sense - most coaches at midmajor schools rarely get chances to play a #1 ranked team and once you get up to the high-major level, (good) coaches tend to stick around for many years.

Still pretty amazing that Ohio State has been part of it twice though.

Strong finish in the first half instead of just being satisfied with a close halftime score.  Great to see players with hustle and emotion.

I'm proud of these kids. It's unfortunate that it took drastic change to bring it out, but change is actually a very, very stimulating thing. Go Bucks.

And Bill "onions!" Raftery did color analysis on both games - eerie no?

HS

I can't stand Raftery. But Gus Johnson is great even though he was born in _ichigan.

He used to bother me but either he's mellowed in his old age or I have :) but I don't mind having him call our games.  Maybe that's because any game he calls is on national TV, and we generally do pretty well when we are a featured game on CBS.

Well leave no doubt  about it. This team has bought in. Wise move. Buckeye basketball is fun again.
