I hope the Vols suffer for an eternity.

What does the 98 stand for? The last year they had a winning season?

Dunno ............ there is so much dysfunction there I don't even know if they know whose number that is.

I'm just happy they secured our DC for us for another year(probably). Thanks.

It will be interesting to see what they settle for. UT isn't on the hook for the entire amount but they will have to pay him something.

HS

Schiano deserves some kind of financial compensation. Those fucking idiots in Knoxville cost him an enormous financial windfall. I believe Schiano eventually will get paid by another program but if I were him I'd want satisfaction for that BS they put him through.

He will get something.  It won't be anywhere close to the full amount but they do owe him something for backing out of a signed agreement, I don't care how they try to spin the whole "invalid" opinion, that just won't fly.  There are certainly some "damages" that have come from their actions and that will cost them.

HS

Agreed. I think the $5M buyout sounds appropriate as a settlement.

HS

I had also agreed to a similar deal before they found out about my unpaid parking tickets

HS

Yeah those will pooch a good $M deal every. time.

That's a bonkers amount of money to put on the line. Seems iffy whether or not Schiano will get that money, but I'd love for him to at least get half of it or more just to stick it to Tennessee. Especially since Ohio State is stingy on assistant pay.

HS
BornAndBredABuck's picture

Looking at USAToday's numbers, OSU appears to be 13th in the nation in total assistant coach salaries this year. Not the top, but hardly stingy.

Relative to our rankings, we're underpaying. I mean, I think there's too much money in college football to begin with, but that's a different discussion.

I hope Jeremy Pruitt and Vol Nation have a miserable relationship and Tennessee has as many SEC over the next 10 years as they had this season.

HS

Schiano is better than Pruitt. Watch and see.

HS

What I really hope is that Pruitt is awesome, and the Vols go 9-3 next season, and then he pulls a Kiffin and leaves for a better job.

I don't know where Schiano lands next, but I hope to God he faces Tennessee at some point.

And collectively kicks their ass.

I'm not a lawyer, but I saw a statement from the Chancellor authorizing Currie to hire a coach. I'd think a contract is binding and Schiano was terminated without cause. According to the MOU, he should get 75%.

Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

The AD had what’s commonly called “apparent authority” to sign a binding MOU. Otherwise why create one?

HS

I only wish he could get the job at like Vanderbilt or Georgia (if Smart left for NFL) and bury them every year for 2 decades.

He could hire Spurrier just to do press conferences before and after the game!

Can anyone link me to the fan yelling "F Tennessee" after that game? I'll pay you in UVs.

HS

Tennessee probably wants Schiano to go away quietly, so I assume they'll go ahead and pony up the cash.

HS

After Pruitt fails I hope he takes two steps back for doing business these people. Looks like a D Line coach to me.

HS

But don’t you think every fan base will go nuts when or if another university offers?  You know mob mentality.  Just a shame.

HS

Extremely happy to still have GS at OSU, but this situation still irritates me. He's s solid man and coach. He didn't deserve that idiocy.

HS

That defamation lawsuit should give Schiano a nice payday.  I hope he sues Clay Travis as well.

I believe he will get more offers once the bowl season winds down. Good offers ? Maybe not. We will see what is out there and his interest. He shouldn't leave for anything less than a top 10 job.
