I can’t see anyone sitting out a bowl game. That just seems to go against the entire culture that Meyer has built here.
I agree, but I wouldn't be mad after seeing that Jaylon Smith injury a couple years ago. I know it doesn't happen often but it's a big risk to take. Secure the bag
I can't see it either. I just hope a player like Baker doesn't go on cruise control for the game though.
The Buckeye behind enemy lines...
Far likelier, in my view, that one or more of 'SC's touted high draft probables ducks out.
Top of that list would be one Sam Darnold.
I'd be thinking about faking something and bowing out if I had to stare Nick Bosa down every play.
Darnold may stay for one more year at SC if he becomes the Brown's #1 draft target.
If I was making browns pick, I'd take mason Rudolph or Christian wilkins.
No player has ever sat out a major bowl game.
wasn't there some discussion as to whether roby's injury during the orange bowl was legitimate?
I don't feel bad for Oregon at all. They were a flash in the pan.
The only thing Oregon has is Astoria and the Goonie house from decades ago.
And Phil Knight
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
That would keep me away.
Animal House was filmed there.
Wasn't that about Miami in Oxford? Or based on a students time there?
Dartmouth...the Miami of the Northeast
Justice delayed is justice denied....#FTP
Knight is like a hundred years old, you can't sustain a program based on one benefactor either!
Flash! its gone! So not a Blue Blood Program...
"Captain, over here, I've found someth... AHHHH!!!!!!"
agreed. if that was the case, OK st. would be a national power.
Knight is 80 years old (PK80 basketball tournament) we just played in. He probably has Oregon set up with a nice deferred annuity.
If I had to pick another team to cheer for besides OSU obviously then Oregon would be the top of my list. Unfortunate that the program is falling apart right now.

Nice inclusion of the UAB program...I still remember the video of the players being told the program was shut down.
Phoenix from the ashes.
Did UT hire someone last night?
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
Yes, Greg Pruitt the old Browns running back.
Where are you, Kevin Mack?
Still trying to come to grips with that fumble against Denver...
I forgave Earnest years ago.
And if you haven't already, watch "Believeland" - the segment with Earnest on that game stirs the emotions and then some. One of the better 30 for 30's I've seen.
The director of that is a Columbus native, Andy Billman.
Barney Fife lives, and he lives among us.
Byner carries a burden that should not carry.
Where are you, Kevin Mack?
Better yet, where are you, Kevin Mackey?
That would be a great fit, right there.
Bobbing for french fries.
USC and Washington making a comeback to National prominence means it could be curtains for Oregon for awhile.
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.
Go Buckeyes Beat Michigan
And don't forget the Chipster is at UCLA now.
Stock Down: The Playoff Committee
Throw the bums out.
Not only is the Playoff Committee stock down, but the entire CFP market has crashed and burned.
When you spend your first three years changing the criteria each year and then the 4th year you say "fuck it, we want Bama/Clemson round 3" that's gonna happen.
The committee looks incredibly foolish (to everyone outside the EssEeeSee) and I am hoping Clemson and OU make fools of them come New Years Day.
Totally agree ^^^^^
"Vitalum Vitalis "
I don't know if they wanted that as much as they did NOT want to see ohio st with barrett go up against Clemson again. there was a guy on dave biddles show yesterday who came out and said that.
Which again goes against what they are supposed to do, because it is supposed to be this year only.
I'm surprised that wasn't the first point.
Disagree. They nailed it 16 of 16 times.
60% of the time...they get it right everytime!
The bottom line is that they didn't trust a Barrett-led Buckeye squad. They've been through that embarrassment before, and he made them even more weary in an AWFUL b10 championship game. They made the correct decision, and if Haskins had played the b10 championship game, we would have been in without a doubt.
Because I couldn't go for 3.
I agree. without barretts mistakes and missed throws, we win 41-6.
There was no winning this year for the committee. I would have felt kinda dirty getting in because of that albatross of a loss to Iowa.
Knowing what I know now, that we probably had zero chance of getting in regardless of the outcome of the BIG championship game. I would have liked to have seen closely contested conference championship games in all Power 5 conferences to enforce the idea of an expanded playoff. As it sits, the BCS arguably would have worked better this year.
You might laugh at the Bahamas Bowl
If by Bahamas Bowl you mean the game will played in the Bahamas, sounds to me UAB gets the last laugh
If Chip Kelly had waited a while he could have made a triumphant return to Oregon!
I don't laugh at the Bahamas Bowl--in its three years of existence it's turned out three great, competitive games, including that incredible 2014 game where Central Michigan scored 34 points in the 4th quarter and could have sent the game into overtime if they'd just kicked an extra point after their last second lateral touchdown.
"porque las estirpes condenadas a cien años de soledad no tenían una segunda oportunidad sobre la tierra."
Free trip to the Bahamas in December or Motor City bowl in Detroit, who's laughing again?
Thank you coach Schiano and thank you to the Buckeyes for standing with him during what must have been a brutal period for he and his family!
I would rather be on hand with 10 men then elsewhere with 10,000 - Timur Lenk
I wish this would have ended much much worse for UT, but it seems they made a decent hire.
Any Tennessee fans on the fence about Jeremy Pruitt should know Alabama fans are furious about his pending move to Knoxville. That should tell you all you need to know

There are a lot of names being floated as potential assistants, some would be pretty good additions.
One of the coaches I'm told who is expected to be in the mix for an OC job at #Tennessee with Jeremy Pruitt is #USC passing game coordinator/QB coach Tyson Helton.

Not trying to be negative on Baker... but I do not see him being better than Lee was a couple years ago, and Lee is having his struggles in the NFL. Baker is a great athlete, but still is lacking in run support and significantly undersized for a LB. I hope I am wrong, but I do not see him making a big splash in the NFL at his currently playing level and not sure I see a 1st round value on him right now. Maybe he would fit a good "star" position for NFL team... but he is just in between positions IMO.
The thought is that the NFL covets the lighter, speedier LB these days, but I'm with you; I don't watch a lot of NFL these days, but those dudes on the 2nd level look more jacked than Baker does currently. Hopefully as he matures as a man, and with some year round workouts, he'll get his size up (without sacrificing speed) and be able to compete at that level.
Actually, Lee is really coming on strong this year. He's starting to impress in NY, from my understanding.
But I still get your point here.
Yes, you are correct and by means did I intend to come across that Lee was a bust. but even Lee has struggled with rush support and getting off big blockers.... Baker is smaller and likely weaker than Lee so I believe he will have even a more difficult time adjusting. Again I hope Baker is successful and like the kid... but overall I think his game needs to be more rounded before he is a top round draft pick.
I hope Baker's Stock really is Up after the Cotton Bowl, along with JT's.
Maybe Schiano will get tapped for the Oregon gig.
The lord of brevity.
Depends on their tolerance for SJW's making a stink like they did at Tennessee, which really, really sucks.
I don't see Jerome Baker sitting out the chance to play USC with his brothers. I think he wants another game to show he has returned to form after a not stellar year.
Back seven should be jacked about playing against Darnold...only decent QB they faced all year was Mayfield. Won’t find O’Korn and a succession of second and third string BIG QBs in the League.
Oregon, the school that changes head coaches almost as frequently as they change uniforms.
