"Salud" to all the 11W family able to make it to Indianapolis tonight for the pre-championship game banger - Enjoy and DRINK RESPONSIBLY - I'm just guessing but I think ending up in jail the night before the game would have a detrimental effect on one's enjoyment of the entire weekend - GO BUCKS!
Reminds me of my last time in Indy in 2014:
Piqua Whitney and I are getting drinks midway through the second quarter. By this time, Ohio State is housing the Badgers. All of a sudden, it smells like somebody just lit a joint in the bar area. I mean, absolutely reeks. I make a comment to Whitney about it, and this blitzed girl behind us was like, "Ohhh my God. Can you smell it? I have weed in my purse."
We laughed, and in talking with her and her boyfriend, they were Buckeye fans who lived in Atlanta, with no other connection to the university or the state than their arbitrary fandom, who drove up for their first OSU game. I respected their heart, if not their wisdom of bring a noxious drug into a dome.
Anyway, long story short. Whitney and I get our drinks, turn around, and the girl is in absolute hysterics while an undercover cop is going through her purse and two more are administering a breathalyzer to her boyfriend, who was only 20 and failed something ridiculous. They found her weed, put her and her boyfriend in cuffs, and took them both away while she was crying about how they can't get arrested because they're not from here, they have nobody to call, and all their stuff is at their hotel and they have to check out tomorrow.
Didn't matter. They got escorted out in cuffs and we all stood around and watched. I've always wondered how their story turned out.

Put JT in the first play and let him hand the ball off to Dobbins; then he leads from the sideline while Haskins and team go to work....it's gonna be hard work, for sure. You give JT his earned respect, and put the team in a position to win the game. killing two birds with one stone...i believe. The passing game will be key to beating Wisconsin, given their dominant defense.
That would be cool to see. Let him take the victory knee (on his left one, of course) too.
The victory meniscus
Want hate for Bucky? I know it isn't related to JT taking the game's ceremonial first snap, but it will do.
Fall, 1982, I was but a boy, son to two OSU alums, going to my first ever game in the 'shoe. My mom, a pretty good fan in her own right, assures me that my first ever Ohio State football game, Oct. 9, will be a win.
I will never forget seeing the old scoreboard that used to hang from the southeast pillar of the 'shoe reading OSU-0 WISC-6.
I was a student at the time and at that game - raw, cold drizzle and crappy outcome.
Exactly how I remember it. Cold, wet, and miserable. Of course, it was the last loss of a 9-3 season.
Of another 9-3 season: 1982 was #3 out of six straight. But we still beat Michigan.
We avoided going seven straight in 1986 because we played 13 games and finished 10-3.

No better strategy than that And DJ's suggestion of JT taking the victory knee would be icing on the cake.
Beanie Wells on 97.1 said he truly believes J.T. Barrett is not going to play. Beanie said the guy has an open wound in his knee from surgery with obvious swelling and will be asked to do QB runs.

Doesn't matter who is behind center on the 1st play from scrimmage: it's going to Weber or Dobbins. Not that we get predictable or anything. ;(
Luckily we are playing a team with the same habit. This might be the "Predictable" Bowl
Great, their center's last name is German for badass.
Lifetime vs. UM: L 8-1, C 7-0, T 4-0
I couldn’t help but notice that too. And their OL is talented: Edwards played quarterback in high school and was recruited as a tight end.
I was watching a game earlier this year and actually rewound it to double check if his name really was Byad-Azz
German spelling, Russian pronunciation?
Chris Gamble was interfered with
The RG's last name is German for Bench Press Freak.
Indeed it is, I overlooked that.
Class of 81
Pretty sure that's of Prussian or Polish origin with it ending in 'z': "biad asz" in Polish translates to "woe to you" according to Google translator. Not as cool as "badass", but still a cool football name.

Not to mention he's the, ehem, smallest of the bunch at 316 lbs. It's gonna be a good matchup with our DL, maybe the most important of the game.

Words of wisdom to those last three teams that suffer a loss at the hand of the Buckeyes, "you may take a modicum of joy from the fact that your team and school ain't Tennessee "!!!!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
Interested to see who gets the majority of QB snaps for us this Saturday. Go Bucks!
Mike Leach is equal parts lawyer, pirate, and national treasure.
In the best timeline he trolls Tennessee by getting a MOU that reactionary fans force the university out of yet again. Meanwhile, Leach is owed a buyout, collects on it, and buys a big ole pirate ship with the cash. The Jolly Rocky Top sails into the sunset.
At first I thought Leach to UT was a joke. But after thinking about it, I feel like he's just arrogant enough (that's not an insult) to feel he can take the reigns and succeed in Knoxville.
I just read elsewhere that the TN AD was fired (didn't see that one coming /s.) Apparently they told him, "get back in the plane, come home, don't sign anything." This just keeps getting better and better!
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
I need Mike Leach at Tennessee in my life. I need it badly.

Hairball’s IQ is probably about half of what Mike Leach’s is; those Rocky Top folks would have a hard time keeping up.
The only hard day was yesterday
You know that not only is he smart enough to insult their fan base in a way that makes them think he's complimenting them - He'd actually do it.
I would like to see Leach in the Eastern time zone too. Just at literally any other school than Tennessee. That fan base doesn't deserve another win.
Looks like Mike Leach may be another pipe dream in Knoxville. I'm hoping this tire fire continues to entertain through December.
Sources: John Currie was prepared to hire Mike Leach but university officials wouldnt allow him to do so. Phillip Fulmer has been sabotaging search process in hopes to become Tennessees AD
— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) December 1, 2017
Fulmer's hoping to be the first recipient of the Fulmer Cup's new Administrator category.
IIRC we were fairly worried about (at least talking about their size) Wiscy's OL in 2014 too.
Nothing cleanses the soul like a no call pass interference.
Can we use the "we have B1G East speed," and are better than the slow pokes in the B1G West, meme?
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
Yup, Wisconsin's beefy adult sons are nothing new. Just a matter of getting off blocks because there's a lot more to OL play than just size.
Wisconsin was so much easier to hate when Bert was around.
Agreed. I don't hate Wisconsin, I respect them. They're what Michigan could/should be.
I think it's funny how UM's big name coach has been able to bring the team back to relevance except for winning the important games. UM fan base doesn't have a clue what to do and neither does their coach.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Considering their recruiting resources, preferred running game, coaching, seemingly endless supply of big OL, Wisconsin is more like what Nebraska used to be. Wisconsin has survived one bolemic coach and has been very consistent over time since Alvarez 'established' their 'identity'.
*ichigan is... MIA. They are recruiting 'better'... which means underperforming more. But it'll take a few more years wandering in their desert before they reach the Promised Land of our 1990's.
I don't know... spend a week in Chicago talking college football with Wisky alums. They are almost as bad, and maybe even a little more annoying, than TTUN alums. This allows me to have enough hatred for the program to last through game time.
Kind of a shitty situation regarding Barrett and his status because he only needs 1 more win to break yet another record..I'm hoping that he is healthy enough to trot out there and not skip a beat, but yet at the same time I'm excited to see a whole new offensive scheme with Haskins..as long as we get a team win, nothing else really matters..
Jt will be fine he's one tuff dude. I don't see him missing out on his snap's
It's an interesting dilemma for Meyer. What if he plays him and he gets seriously injured and Ohio State loses the game? Then he doesn't get the record and might miss an NY6 bowl or whatever. Why not let him coalesce fully to be ready for the playoffs? The Buckeyes can beat Wisconsin without him, IMO.
I though the play calling got better with Haskins in last week, and agree that the Buckeye can win the B1G CG without JT.
There is nothing worse than going into a game of this magnitude with question marks at the quarterback position... distractions like that can kill a team, hopefully they get a solid plan together and let Haskins do his thing if he’s called upon
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I don't think there are questions in the WHAC. Everyone there knows exactly what is going on.
100% right. They’ve known what was going to happen very quickly. They don’t have time to dwell on a decision, they have to prepare.
Tap tap, SouthAlabama. Rumors of a Haskins start have been swirling since about Wednesday, too.
I dont think even for a second there is concern over Haskins starting over JTB..... I think in some ways its a huge + in the passing game. It will impact what running plays they call, as they likely cant lean on the zone read as Haskins is no where near as good as JTB in making the right keep/give call.
You WIN with people.
2014 would like a word with you.
(Actually, I agree, but the set up was too perfect)
Living on St Thomas we are trying to rescue a homeless dog. We leave food daily as she is still frightened since the storms. Our friends in the Humane Society work hard. We saw one rescue that was so thin it looked like the photos from concentration camps. People here are SO GRATEFUL when supplies come in. There were horses that died from dehydration initially after storms. Things are getting better but you would be shocked to see what life is like here. Thanks to anyone that can help in any way!
JP - it breaks my heart when I see animals suffering! My wife and I have spent many years volunteering and working with local animal shelters here in Arizona. We did not want to travel to St. Croix this December because too many people are still recovering and we didn't want to add to the problem. We were brought to tears hearing about this shelter being destroyed, then vandalized and we knew we had to do something! That is why we started the matching campaign with them and it has been going great! A tip of the hat to you for trying to rescue this homeless dog - I'm hoping she comes around sometime soon!!!
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
Thanks AND! As sad as some situations are, it warms the heart to see people pull together to help those that cannot help themselves. Our humane society friend told is that over 100 dogs and cats have made there way to the mainland.
Fortunately Bucky Badger has a human soul that Brutus can take care of with no sadness from us.
Kick Wiscy butt!
And a big THANKS to DJ and Canuckbuck for taking notice and letting people know!!!
All thanks to Arizona_Buckeye. I'm just the megaphone.
F. Scott bringing the serious introspective, time stands still in those words.
Maybe it's our age or our "Midwest upbringing", but that article grabbed ahold of my psyche and hasn't let go. Still thinking about it, at the expense of all else, especially in light of my current 'employment.'
Not sure what compelled you to read/post that article, DJ, but wow. I now have to go back and read some of old F's books.
In a span of minutes, I went from opening my eyes and reading Buckeye stuff/football to opening my mind and contemplating bigger things, and my role in them.
But that's the reads of FSF for you.
I just try to share good writing in the WMDs. It's my way of trapping people who appreciate the finer things that don't want to suffer the crudities of my prose.
Keep on keeping on, DJ. That was a powerful piece. Thanks
Hov (and Navy) thanks for bringing this one to my attention. Definitely an eye-opening read. I realized so many similarities in his writing to my life. If only I had read that 20 years ago.
DJ, me thinks Mike Dantonio probably more boring than Chryst.
I have to disagree on this one. Dantonio rarely gets excited, but he has done it. Have you seen any interviews with Chryst? Talk about painful. The guy may know his offense, and he is a perfectly willing puppet for Barely Average the AD, but listening to him is worse than a root canal.
"They say, "these geeks come a dime a dozen. I'm lookin' for the guy who's supplyin' the dimes." -Classy Freddie Blassie
I lived in Wisconsin for 30 years. Paul Chryst is "Pure Wisconsin". He is absolutely the epitome of the quiet, calm, steady, "boring" Wisconsite. I'm sure he drinks water at the "bubbler", eats "custard", orders "soda" or a Leine Red at the fish fry on Fridays, and roots for the Packers on Sundays. I can't imagine a more appropriate coach for Wiscaaaansin. Ja, hey dere!!!!
Chryst is to Wisconsin as Tressel is to Ohio?
The Vest is a bombastic maniac compared to Chryst methinks
No way dude. I will never forget this, before the second Buckeyes-Texas contest Tress said he was looking forward to a great game between "two of the top research institutions in the country."
What makes this comparison a bit unnerving are the parallels between Tress' 2002 Championship team & this Wisconsin squad. Make no mistake, this undefeated and yet still disrespected team with a rugged defense and a stud frosh RB, playing for an underrated & soft-spoken coach relishes the opportunity to bring down teams full of "prima donnas" (as they say on the local sports radio) even though no one nationally is giving them a chance.
Phenomenal coach and a 100% perfect match for Wisconsin. There are 5 really good programs in the B1G right now. OSU, MSU, Wisconsin, scUM and PSU. The next tier down has really good coaches and are not far from turning the corner and being right up there with that first teir.... Some of them will need a couple of years of recruiting but they will be a tough out annually.... Minnesota, Northwestern (9 wins this season :O) and Purdue with Brohm
I like me some Leine Red myself.

Is this a real screen grab? What's the context? Is Dino watching video of Shirtless Harbaugh grabbing some kid by the pants and that's his real-time reaction? That's what it looks like to me.
Yes. Its real. Its espn at its finest insulting one of the better coaches in the nation by identifying him with the name of an NBA coach.
I occasionally have to fill in for James to cover the Big Ten teleconference with all the coaches. Trust me, Chryst takes the cake. But apparently his players would die for him. I'm sure he's not as boring in private, but good lord, he puts me to sleep anytime he comes on. Helluva coach though, obviously, so can't really knock it. I just enjoy bigger personalities more.
What did Byrnes just say about me? I'm as mean as they come for Chryst's sake.
I will hunt him down and waterboard him with cheese curd whey when I get back from Indianapolis. By the way, I want LOTS of camera-persons on that OSU sideline.
I remember when he was on the ESPN Coaches' room broadcast of the FSU-Auburn title game with Spielman, Millen, and some other coaches. Inbetween Millen taking breaths of air to shut up, Spielman pretty much had to call on Chryst the entire time like a school kid to get him to speak. When he did speak, it was usually a very accurate assessment. Chryst was still at Pitt at the time and was really struggling to recruit there. He is perfect for Wisconsin though.
My friend's son played for Wisconsin, and speaks well about Chryst and she really praises Joe Rudolph, the guy behind these offensive lines they lumber out annually. Sounds like they are very good guys.
I seen Braxton miller struggle against Clemson with an obvious injury issue and months later his arm fell off. I am not saying this to be vindictive but I hope we look past loyalty and do what's best for the team. Meyer and Wilson make a lot of money to handle these things. I expect an A+ plan
This is my concern also. I worry that Urban would rather play a wounded JT over a 100% Haskins because of perceived leadership. JT can lead from the sidelines and be ready for the playoff game. There won't be a playoff game if we play a JT that can't move like he needs to move to be effective. A stationary JT is just a guy.
Tap tap, Pat. Tired of Ohio State walking into an ambush every game.

Yeah that place was wild. If you could brave the lines it was a decent option on the way home from Brothers.
We hit up that newer one north of campus too, though "new" was around 2004.
Still laughing at the utilization of the Danny McGrath character and the Tennessee coaching search.
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
That hot mess is a disaster of another breed
Selfishly I hope it goes on for another week at least. Hoping Leach goes into the press conference and drops a Billy the Kid quote from Young Guns.
“P.S. I changed my mind, kiss my ass!!”
“P.S. I changed my mind, kiss my ass!!”
I'm also not ready for this to end - nothing would please me more if this went on past New Years. Someone is bound to take it but this has turned to a dumpster fire pretty quick
They selfishly burned Schiano, so I say they're getting everything that comes to them. I hope this drags on til Valentine's Day.
And now they've fired their AD. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
Thanks for linking the Times piece on the isolated elderly in Japan. Sad. I lived in Japan and got to know many elderly whom were usually charming and sweet (several would apologize about the war). I lived in the inaka, countryside, where generational families were still mostly intact and the elderly were very involved in the community as opposed to those isolated in the vast building complexes seen in the story.
Animal Shelters make for good charitable donation recipients. These animals have no say in the situations they are in and are completely defenseless against the less savory among us humans. And since the topic of animal shelters was brought up, I just want to take the opportunity to remind people that puppies are for life, not just for christmas. A lot of puppies get adopted this time of year and end up back in the shelters or worse within a couple months because people think they would make for good christmas presents without considering the long term responsibility that a puppy requires.
As far as JT goes, I spent most of yesterday thinking the same thing. If he plays, how effective will he be? Surgery is always serious, and I know its possible to come back in 6 days. But JT's best weapon is his legs. I'm very concerned about his ability to come out and win us this game this shortly after surgery. On top of that, I think this Wisconsin defense is very susceptible to the kind of game that Haskins brings. These guys are strong and disciplined, but not overly fast. I think they are a defense that can be picked apart through the air to open things up on the ground. JT's game is based on the power run game opening up the passing game. Not a knock on JT, I just don't think his game matches up as well.
I really hope Mike Leach does not go to Tennessee. I like Mike Leach and find him incredibly entertaining. I don't want to grow to hate him because of the shitty fanbase he coaches for.
MB12, your last paragraph in particular is spot on. I agree with pretty much everything else as well, but please let Leach avoid UT like the plague. I enjoy him too much to see him there. I would be ok with The Pirate going to Nebraska, as it would shake up the west division, and we B1G fans would get a lot more Leach, which would be nothing but entertaining.
Tennessee doesn’t deserve Mike Leach. They deserve to wallow and drown in their spit but it’s hard for me to imagine Washington State being able to compete with Tennessee financially or in prestige.
It’s interesting that Gundy was supposedly offered $7 million per year while Doeren is staying at NC State for a salary bump to $3 million, which I assume was either a matched offer or Doeren didn’t want to go to Tennessee even for more money. In any event, $4 million is a wide, wide gap for two guys being considered for the same job.
The dark comedy currently playing in Knoxville is bordering on becoming a tragedy if you’re a Vols fan.
I would think once a $7mill number came out, real or not, that became the marker for any other coach they approached. Anything much less tells the coach they really just want someone as a filler until they can get their guy in a few years. That may still be the case but if I were a coach I'd want a large buyout to cover me when I get dumped as well as a large payday until then; since it is probably a 2 - 3 year job; especially with teh recruiting dumpster fire that is starting.
Fantastic article by Pat Forde yesterday (credit BuckeyeChief for finding it) about the dumpster fire that is SEC football coaching right now. He gives some great reasons for Doeren and others turning down UT. Paraphrased - Stay, get a raise and folks are happy with 7-5; or go for the big money where people lose their minds and fire you in three years for going 8-4.
UT does not deserve the Pirate, Mike Leach.
Here is the iconic Friday Night Lights cameo of Coach Mike Leach.

TBF - SEC media days haven't been the same since Coach Spurrier retired. Coach Leach' pressers might be just what the SEC needs. Just not at UT. Imagine Leach at Texas A&M, though. Or Arkansas...
He's a good coach and a likable guy. Agreed because he's far better that taking that pirate act to rocky top
lets hope its Arkansas.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
What's funny is when he demonstrated what swinging your sword should look like. The right way didn't look much different than the wrong way. Definitely didnt look like a swashbuckling bucaneer.
This is perfect DJ:
I hope Ohio State sells out on the run and dares Alex Hornibrook beat them over four quarters. I'll roll the dice in that casino any day of the week
While Hornibrook can make some throws (that td pass down the left seam was a laser) there looks to be zero chance he can do that with any consistency. Sell out for the run, but put someone on Fumigali and try to take away/limit the security blanket. If Hornibrook can find lightning in a bottle then good for him, but it seems unlikely.
I'm sitting down Saturday prepared to die by the TE seam. It better not happen, but if it does, my psyche is already steeled.
I don’t know how good of a chance we have with Haskins in. They will give him different looks and i feel he will throw 3 picks against that defense. They will crowd the box and stop our RB’s and force him to throw. I hope they came up with different plays. He can throw better than Barrett but doesn’t have the legs like Barrett so that makes them one dimensional.
I really liked the ending of The Sopranos. We all know that eventually Tony would meet a violent end. He was the shark that never stops swimming. But was it going to happen today or tomorrow? Would it happen while with his family or with his Family? I found the build up of that final scene and its editing well done. Found it satisfying.
The Wire has been on my list for a long time. Have to tackle that.
I loved the ending. The Sopranos was never about what was going to happen to Tony Siprano, it was about what it was like to be Tony Soprano. We know he’s gonna end up murdered or in jail, and Tony Soprano knows it too. But at that moment, that final moment of the series, we get a feeling of what it’s like to live with that knowledge.
These are all fair points. I absolutely see what you mean with the limbo aspect. It just felt like a cop out to me, but so do all stories to me that leave it to interpretation. It felt like he ran out of time and just said "screw it."
My other issues were p. much the same with Breaking Bad, which should have ended with Hank, Gomie, and Walt in a mass grave in the desert while the neo Nazis drive off with his millions and their new meth slave, Jesse. That's the brutish hopelessness of the drug game. Instead we got cancer ninja walt eluding a national dragnet to sneak into his ex-wife's house and leer at his son from behind a tree at school.
Tony Soprano deserved to have his brains blown out at that diner in front of his family. Carmela, for all her flaws, deserved that too. He built an empire on other people's pain and never offered anything but bullshit excuses. He is undoubtedly one of the most diabolical characters I've ever seen, and I tilt my cap to Gandolfini's acting in capturing that criminal enigma.
Obviously it doesn't spoil the show for me overall. It's still a banger I'd recommend to anybody who likes the genre. But when I compare the ending to that of The Shield, it's no contest.
I wrote a piece about Breaking Bad and The Sopranos in a weird corner of the internet. Check it out here.
Great article DJ. I agree the Shield was the best ever series finale. Bitter sweet. Om second thought it was just bitter & more bitter.
Sepinwall tells a great story about how early in the series David Chase was surprised that the audience was rooting for Tony so he intentionally ratcheted things up to show everyone that Tony wasn't the good guy.
Man I sure hope Urban can figure out a way to win a big game if JT can’t go.
Hold the golf cart and pizza. This is Urban tomorrow night:
So is this:
This meme made me laugh. One thing I enjoyed about the series was how, even in the mafia, medical bills are a harsh reality.
Better odds of mirroring the 2014 game? 1) A Bosa scoring a TD 2) Scoring 59 3) Holding Taylor to 2.9 per carry 4) A QB not named Barrett throwing for 250+
I’m thinking 4,but maybe 3.
It would seem that Tennessee is just going to get more and more desperate as their search process lingers. It's been a very bad look already.
Meanwhile in Tennessee:
Why does Dublin have so many round-abouts? Because everyone in Dublin thinks they have the right-of-way.
Good health to you D.J.! The F. Scott Fitzgerald wmd was a fascinating read. So much good stuff in the Skully. I here there is a big game tommorow night. Go Bucks!!! Win the BIG!
Go Bucks Beat wisky!
9-0 and a chance to go 10-0...
Count me in as a Sopranos nut job as well. Favorite series by far. Also, still have to tackle The Wire as well.
On the Taco Bell ‘Cantina’ thing, isn’t this their new chain that will serve alcohol? Look out, Cbus!!
On the QB situation, this team has enough talent to throw in another 3rd stringer and lead them to a National Title. The question is, will they execute?
Preparing to head out for Indy this afternoon. Get ready for the Buckeye takeover. It’s about to get crazy.
I’m not buying Wisconsin. They know who their overlords are. If they’re hanging some hope on the Iowa game as evidence of how things will go tomorrow, or that they’ll muster the same performance scUM did last week, think again. 59-0 here we go again. And Haskins WILL be the starter. Ain’t no way they’re sending JT out there with an open wound. Get him healthy for the playoffs.
Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
I could envision Barrett playing the first series, at least, so that he becomes the "QB of record" and gets credited with the win even if Haskins plays the majority of snaps.
I would love to see JT start. Absolutely.
First down, pass to KJ Hill, goes for about 35 yards.
Next play, Parris Campbell reverse, 35 yards, touchdown.
JT goes to the bench, and we bludgeon them with Haskins, Weber and Dobbins for the next 3 quarters.
And another thing, a win with our backup further diminishes Alabama’s win over FSU. For reasons.
a coach with a 33-0 career record turned spurned them.
Hey DJ, missing a digit in that loss column.
The pain of discipline or the pain of regret, take your pick
Lmao. I don't always edit my typos (long live Dark Vader), but when I do, it's shit like this.
My 7 year old would've "well actually"d the hell out of you on Dark Vader.
Love what you do brother!
I appreciate that, 1020. Thank you for reading.
Some of the dummies used to say Salad. SMH. Big Dummies.
DJ... I fear your hatred for Tennessee may have surpassed the hate for that team up north. What up?
For some people, maybe. Throw it to the TE. We need it now!
I have no respect for what they did to Greg Schiano in attempting to blemish his name like that. For all Michigan's faults, they've never used cover up of systemic child rape to torpedo a good man.
I hope Ohio State sells out on the run and dares Alex Hornibrook beat them over four quarters. I'll roll the dice in that casino any day of the week.
Just don't let them see Robert Reynolds go to the Kung-Fu grip on Hornibrook on the bottom of the pile.
My biggest worry with Haskins is that he is not very experienced with the zone read. Many times last Saturday he handed the ball to the running back while the DE crashed down on the RB. If Haskins had kept the ball he would have had some lengthy gains. If Haskins truly is the one getting a lot of playing time on Saturday the Buckeyes should go with a more conventional setup in the backfield and just hand the ball to our RBs instead of using the read option. It will be interesting to see what transpires on Saturday.
They would. When Haskins came into the game, they always used Baugh as a 6th blocker. That will continue. And on that 3rd and 1, where the defense crashed, that actually appeared (by the blocking scheme), to be a straight handoff.
Elliott dots the eye, on this national championship win.
Loved the Shield. Watched it from Day 1 and told people who wanted quality that it is highly recommended. Agree with the inability to hate the weaksconsin badjerks since Bert left, and sure all teams have bad fans, but this team has the strangest. They were one of the worst I ever encountered . . . after they won! Been there 5 times and after their 2003 win, everyone from 5 to 105 was in our faces yelling "F Ohio." Either way, they are the enemy in a day. Whoever starts, I expect everyone to come together for a big victory. Go Buck!
Agreed on the Shield. Everything flows from the choices made in that very first episode and culminates with a perfect ending shot in the finale.
The GOAT police character. Shawn Ryan and guys like Kurt Sutter were brilliant with that series. I cannot wait for the 4K/Blu Ray release that has been years in the making, but Shawn claims is still happening. I loved the early seasons of the Sopranos, but there were a few seasons that I thought it was living off of its reputation and were meh (and my god the loopholes they would leave). The Shield, Wire, and SOA kept it coming until the very end.
The Wire was great and seeing familiar Charm City landmarks was a bonus. It needed one more season to really wrap things up but alas that was not to be.
Working through Homicide:LotS right now, I highly recommend it.
My wife likes Chicago PD, and its mainly cheese, but I love seeing Bunk Moreland playing a corrupt politician.
Check out Bunk in Treme...
I've read good things about it...just need to find the time.
I watched Bosch (s 1&2) with Jamie Hector playing a main role. Always love seeing the Wire guys in other vehicles.
Amazon has some good shows. Bosch, man in the High Castle, Mozart in the Jungle...
Don't forget Sneaky Pete.
Treme is one amazing show. My wife and I were beyond impressed with how accurate their writers were with the authenticity. Their use of dozens of local New Orleans consultants to influence the script, acting and dialect really showed. The show also captures that love/hate relationship people have with the city, especially after the storm.
Justified had a few stumbles during the middle seasons but the series finale (prison visiting scene) I rank up there with the Shield.
I agree...FX was my favorite channel for many years. I enjoyed Justified, as well as Rescue Me, but they aren't on the same tier as the Shield, Wire, Breaking Bad, and SOA.
Another great show is Ozark on Netflix. Really well done.
Ozark is phenomenal. Highly recommend it; we can't wait for the next season.
Couldn't agree more, Schizo.
I loved The Wire and Sopranos, so I'm thinking this might be next on the docket.
If you liked those two, there is a 100% chance you'll enjoy The Shield.
Was at Lucas Oil for the 59-0 beatdown. The guys next to us wearing Bucky striped overalls left at half time - actually congratulated us as they left, with no sarcasm, but then again how could they as it was something like 38-0 already at the half. Just Glorious.
I was there and the Wiscy fan next to us was talking to his girlfriend/wife at half time - How do they get 3 good quarterbacks and we can't even get 1?
They left shortly after the start of the 2nd half. It was nice to be able to spread out. Such an amazing game. I've never seen a team of that quality get dismantled like that and it could've been worse - missed a FG and we took the pedal off the metal offensively for a little while. Wiscy was a good, solid tough team with a Heisman candidate. Glorious, indeed.
Haters gonna hate and Bert is gonna Bert.
I too remember watching it in standard def. FX really was on the cutting edge of cable TV, even back then.
Score more points and things will work out accordingly
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.
Go Buckeyes Beat Michigan
That Wisconsin offensive line could not be any more "Wisconsin offensive line" if it tried...
Every damn year it seems like it's:
Dolph Wienerschnitzel - 6-7, 340
Jacob Schmidt - 6-6, 335
Frank Kowalksi - 6-5, 325
Phillip Kaminsky - 6-6, 335
John Schröder, 6-8, 350
Bucks on Saturday night: "We're gonna need to Fumagalli this place."
I'm pretty sure Augustus Gluch played there in the 80s.
Please please please let Leach be using UT for a raise at WSU. I want the UT comedy to continue on and on.
UT certainly does not know how to swing their sword....
Fields of Dreams
It ain't that hard rooting for OK. Not after just rooting for AL, which, was a first. Finally root for a Bama win and they crap the bed. So, Boomer Sooner... whatever.
They had but one flippin job SMH
STOPPING THE BEEFY BOYS. We're roughly 24 hours from the B1G Battle in Indy, and I have yet to stir an inkling of hatred for the Badgers.
Maybe the First Lady can help with the hatred DJ...

Would love one of those Badger carcasses for the holidays but Amazon doesn't offer Prime Shipping on them....... so I'm out.
DJ you got it backwards, you need to switch it. The ONLY way for the 2-loss buckeyes to get in is for Oklahoma to have 2 losses.
You're worried about the head-to-head as a tie-breaker DJ? Did you forget did you forget? Boy we have the ultimate tie breaker, we have lots of lots of cash! The committee wants to put on the games with he highest TV ratings and Ohio State brings the eyeballs in quantities the big 10 can't touch. You think he committe wants TCU and their anemic alumni base in the playoffs? Common man!
Here's how it breaks down
1) ACC winner is in
2) SEC winner is in
3) Alabama is in because Alabama
4) a 1-loss power 5 team is in OR a 2-loss Buckeyes are in if we put up enough ESPN highlights in the next game to give them a reason to do what they want to do already.
If Oklahoma loses, I'm not worried about them getting into the playoffs over Ohio State. It would just make Ohio State's 14-point loss look a lot worse.
Agreed on the angle on the cash, though. Written about that a lot. If TCU and OSU wins, I think Bama and OSU both get in with OSU being the No. 3.
Hmmm Tennessee fans don't want schiano because of unverified and unsubstantiated 5th party claims that he may "have heard something", yet they are all for hiring mike leach who was fired for player mistreatment at one institution with similar claims being made at another. The funny thing about this is that Schiano is the defensive equivalent to Mike leach's offensive mind. Both have similar records but I would trust schiano a bit more having worked under Urban and Belichick. All I know is I would feel confident in schiano as our coach if for some reason urban stepped down in the future.

Best url in a WMD article: balls.ie Salud to my Irish cousins...
The teacher wed hit on a larger problem across the country. School districts push students through to keep numbers high so they can get funding and accolades but shortchange kids in the end. Teachers are pressured to pass kids or get poor evals and forced out. Administrations make rules that make it tough and time consuming to fail a kid but easy to pass so eventually even good caring teachers give up under the workload. Parents don't complain if their kid passes or gets an A and the truth doesn't come out till reality hits them with a clue by 4 in college or the workforce. Administrators tell teachers no one can get the highest rating because the district doesn't want to pay bonuses, so why bother? It's no wonder teachers where I live say 70% would retire tomorrow if they could and actively discourage any kid from entering the profession. I can see why teachers in the WMD retire the day they are eligible just to make the school district pay for a sub for the rest of year as a final FU to administration.
I just took lots of sick days...
Looking forward to see the rocky top saga continue for weeks
Students of OSU: I live about 5 buildings up from the Taco Bell Cantina in Cincinnati and it's pretty damn great.
Well, we have a big game out here tonight ahead of the bigger one tomorrow night. Our Owasso Rams against the defending champs, Union Redskins for the title. Looking for a big game from Buckeye commit Josh Proctor to hopefully avenge the 4 OT loss to the Redskins from earlier this season. Go Rams; Go Bucks!!!!
D.J. - Again, I cannot thank you enough for dropping the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center in today's Skully! I took a long shot with you and Shelley Meyer and you've both come through in spectacular fashion! We've been travelling to the Virgin Islands in December for the last 4 years but had to cancel given the conditions that exist down there right. My wife and I are both animal rescue supporters (fanatics actually) and could think of no better way to spend our vacation fund than to create this matching campaign to double our donation. My company also has a matching program for Giving Tuesday so we're able to match up to 12,500.00!
So, if you can - please donate!!! These people are dealing with their own destroyed/damaged homes but they are still saving these animals and rebuilding the shelter! They are simply amazing!!
Again D.J. - you are my hero for helping our cause out!!!
I'm no hero, Arizona. Just a guy who likes animals with an internet column read by very kind and generous people.
Well done Arizona. You are less than $400 short of your goal at this point. It won’t be much longer now. I bet it never felt so good to be $10,000 poorer. I don’t know you from the next 11W commenter, but I’m proud to know that you’re among us.
Brutus - you are correct - it really feels great to be 10,000.00 poorer right now! I am happy to say that because of this campaign's incredible success, they are meeting with an architect tomorrow to get the rebuild started! I don't think there are many activities that bring a higher level of joy and satisfaction to my life than animal rescue. There is something special about watching a dog frolic in an open field for the first time in their life, or watching an abused animal start trusting again! Simply the best!!!
Thanks to EVERYBODY that donated and shared!!!
Weber between the tackles, Dobbins on the outside, maybe a half dozen QB runs for Haskins, enough to keep them honest and have to pay attention to it.
The key is the guys up front. Haskins made great throws last weekend, hitting guys in stride and threading it to Mack in between defenders. But equally important was that a very good, well-coached defense was unable to present our line with packages that disrupted Haskins much. And when they did, he scrambled for a nice gain.
Looking forward to Haskins making that throw to Victor in the corner if we get to the red zone. I am a pro-JT guy most of the time, but it has been maddening to watch him short those fade throws into the end zone. I think Haskins gets that throw high and outside where it belongs for at least one of our TDs.
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
You never said SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! Darn you to heck for sometime short of eternity.
Barney Fife lives, and he lives amongst us.
A morning shoutout and good luck to my hometown Wheelersburg Pirates who play in the Ohio Div. 5 state championship game in Canton this afternoon vs. Pemberville Eastwood, the No. 1 team in that division. I played on Burg's only state title team in 1989 and cannot attend. The entire town is shut down today for the game. Go Burg!
May Buckeye Nation be safe in its travels to Indy this weekend. Go Bucks!
P.S., those poor doggies in Puerto Rico :(
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
Best of luck to the Pirates against Pemberville, who is bad!
hate hate hate tennessee. I hope they end up with hokey
The Sopranos is my favorite TV series of all time. I've watched it all the way through probably 5 times. I agree with your assessment of Vic Mackey however. The way he just bossed his way around in the finale was absolutely incredible. Seeing the looks on the faces of the other police officers listening to him confess to all his crimes was glorious!
With that said....Go Bucks! It should be a damn good weekend of football!
Yup. And how he avoided jail but lost the very thing he did all that dirt for... it was perfect.
Nice article. I wanted to comment on the "Ann Arbor Assassin". First, it needs to make its way on a dry goods tshirt ASAP. I would have a silhouette of a camera guy sniping.
Secondly, I did a google search "Ann Arbor Assassin" for fun and below is what I found. I'm a degreed history nut so forgive me, but I think it's crazy that POTUS James Garfield's killer was a former student at TSUN and a graduate of AA HS. Something sinister is going on up there.
I hope Haskins starts the game, only to have fireworks go off and JT jogs out of the tunnel while Gus Johnson flips out screaming "Bah Gawd, that's JT's music!"
Haskins and both Weber and Dobbins start in the back field would blow their minds!!! Oh , Haskins had a 23 yard run against tun, his arm more then covers being slightly slower Buckeye receivers rejoice with his arm in game, you must have not watched the tun game, where McLaurin was WIDE OPEN 30 yards down field and JT could not get him th e ball
Tennessee's 4-8 record makes Ohio State the only Division 1 team who has not lost more than 7 games in a season. They avoided it over the last few decades at least twice when winning their last 2, but now every other team has lost at least 8 or more games in a season. Thank you Wrecky Top! Go Bucks!
