Let's potion tOSU:
Potion them what?
Saw that. Corrected. Thanks!
There should not be alternate uniforms in The Game. Do you think Alabama and Auburn are wearing alternate uniforms today?
Edit: I do like the uniforms though, just not for The Game.
Lock of the week: Trending in the wrong direction
You're right. And we should also travel to the games in horse and buggies. Also, passing plays should not be allowed and absolutely no games on tv. Freshman should not be playing on the varsity team and no scholarships given to players. After all, aren't those all traditions that used to be the norm? It's called evolution. The fact is, players and recruits like alternates, and from everything I've seen on this site and social media, the majority of fans like them. Traditions can change and they usually do for the better
Traditional is all well and good, but why cant we make new traditions? If it works for the players and the players love wearing them, I say lets support the team no matter what they wear
See Alabama's unis and count its natty's.
Here's a new tradition...alt-uni...at night...in the Shoe...against any other team.
I dont care about Alabama, dont care how many national titles they have. In life you have to understand what is and isnt important. What Ohio St wears for games shouldnt be something that is worried about, as long as they win I dont care.
BAJ - While they are at it, they should continue phasing out the band in favor of DJ’s. Good call
Did I say anything about the band? No, I simply stated it doesnt matter what the players wear. The players like them, they are the ones playing for YOUR and mine entertainment. Plus recruits like them, which once again matters since recruiting is the lifeblood of a major college football powerhouse. Tradition is great, and if the players were complaining about it than I would say the same thing, the players play and they like it. That is really all that matters
BAJ - While they are at it, they should continue phasing out the band in favor of DJ’s. Good call
Bring on the DJs! Might help with recruiting!
Many of their NCs are made up - yes you read that correctly.
Living the life! Go Buckeyes! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
1942, 1954, 1957, 1961, 1968, 1970, 2002, 2014 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
A tradition is something they repeat...the Alt-uni is something you do once over and over again to sell more jersey combinations. There is a difference...and this ain't no tradition.
Who the fuck cares? Just win the game!
"faith seeking understanding” (fides quaerens intellectum)
Anybody who has been an Ohio State fan longer then a couple years
Really? I've been a fan for a few years and like the alternates in general. Over teh years OSU as changed uniforms so what is traditional now (Buckeye leaves anyone? Gray helmets?) was new sometime.
In addition, sponsorship by athletic apparel companies have changed the economics for outfitting teams. Designing and manufacturing alternates for one game on the school's nickel doesn't make sense but when its UA/Nike/Adidas footing the bill it's different.
Personally if the players like them I'm OK with it. YMMV
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
Sorry, but I've been a fan since the early 90's. I know what this game means and the horror of losing to Michigan ever year. So sorry if I care more about winning and less about the jersey.
I see Buckeyes all over the NFL wearing other jerseys and they are still ( and will always be ) Buckeyes to me. The clothes dont make the man— or the team.
Deserves got nothin' to do with it
Of all the things I've got to worry about in life, what uniform the Buckeyes are wearing for the game (or any game) doesn't rate very high on my list.
Yawn. Tradition is not grass and leather helmets?
I love these unis...better than the cocaine whites IMO.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
I'm gonna start a petition to ban the constant whining about uniforms.
We look like Oregon today
We are wearing green and yellow? I didn't notice.
They're all chickens. The rooster has sex with all of them.
Faux - Oregon doesn’t always wear the same colors, because they don’t have any tradition. They wore all white against OSU in natty I believe
My 12 year old girls walked in from shopping in the middle of the 1st quarter and both of them asked why I wasn't watching the Bucks. Unrecognizable.
YOU guys ARE MORONS............ You do not know didly about tradition, you probably kneel with the NFL Players........ Get a damned grip on your young asses before someone does it for you ! THIS IS OHIO STATE NOT OREGON, we do not wear ice cream unies, we wear scarlet and gray and in case you don't understand it is bright red and darker than white GRAY, you cannot be a BUCKEYE FAN IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HISTORY so have your mommas send you back to school to learn the definition of tradition !
I AM 110% FOR TRADITION !
Guess I’m not a Buckeye fan since I don’t give a shit what they wear. I’m happy watching them play regardless of what they wear. I only get a limited number of these games each fall. I’m happy watching them no matter what.
We call it Scarlet, BTW. It's between red and orange on a color wheel.
A rose in any other color would smell as sweet.

To Hell with the dipshits who come up with and approve these stupid alternate uniforms.
I like the uniforms, no problem with changing it up every now and then. Anyone that hates change is love to see what your cellphone looks like.
This post is leasable space for this dude right here BeatTTUN
Get rid of these alt uniforms. Especially during this game.
Never forget how we got screwed in 98
Why is it only the ‘68 uniform that should be worn for The Game? Why do they get the lock on great uniforms? Because one fan says so?
holy crap - why do this?

I like "some" deviation. Some deviation is unique and cool. Better than the ASU's and Oregon's who change it up every week but also a little more with the times like some of the programs that never have any alternates to look forward to
I would agree just not for this game.
Although I understand the basis for your comment, you must recognize that the alternate uniforms aren't for you. They are created for the recruits. I'm guessing that EVERY potential recruit is watching this game. If given then choice, would you rather have a top five class, or older uniforms?
Buckeye living in Gatornation... It feels GREAT!
They are created for sales. No other reason. If they weren't making money selling them, Nike wouldn't be paying OSU to use them. The Game puts more eyeballs on their merchandise, so it's unlikely this practice will change unless people stop buying them.
I've got no problem with it.... we are 5-0 in alternate jerseys in the game.. Heck we have more wins in the alternate jerseys then they do against us in this century (3). It brings a little excitement to a game that isn't even a rivalry at this point..
And EVERY game. This alternate uniforms are awful. It should be criminal to mess with the uniforms for this game.
And yet they still won. Get over it.
Part of what makes college football so much better than the NFL is tradition. If tradition is for sale to the highest bidder and we don't care as long as our team wins, then it's a slippery slope.
There is another thread on here about how long OSU will play in the shoe, and there is a very strong sentiment that most fans never want to see them play elsewhere. Some day, hopefully not soon, that question will be more than a hypothetical. I hope I never see the day. If I do, I won't be saying "who cares where they play as long as they win."
If script Ohio changes to script Auto Zone because they put up the cash, I will not be saying "who cares as long as they win."
Tradition is important. We need to get rid of the Buckeye leaves, gray helmets, etc. and go back to our roots and not mess with tradition - brown pants and helmets, red jersey with vertical brown or gray stripes. While we are at it, there was no band with halftime shows, and we didn't play in the Horseshoe.
That time and change thing is overrated; now get off my lawn...
Not sure if you're trying to be funny or intentionally obtuse, but that is a different interpretation of tradition.
I'm not sure either, but my point is simple: What is viewed today as tradition was a new idea at some point. Even what we consider tradition has evolved, buckeye leaves got smaller, the band added signs and other non-musical elements to shows, etc. We also lose traditions, such as Block O sign shows, Sachem / B&D exchanging the Illibuck mid field at half time, I get people don't like change (I personally don't like all the non-band laments such as pull out signs, fake cannon shots etc. in half time shows) but change is inevitable and necessary. At some point what was debated today will be new traditions.
Your point IS a very simple one, probably overly simplistic since nobody argued that following tradition means you have to do everything exactly the same way you did it on day one. Traditions develop organically which of course includes room for change, especially when the change is a good one that improves the program and the experience of the people involved in it.
My point is good traditions that have developed organically over time and have come to be associated with the identity of the program should be upheld unless there is a strong case for change that improves the program. The creation of the shoe, and the rivalry with Michigan playing out in the last game of the year every year are examples of good traditions that didn't start on day one. If there are changes some day, it should be for a good reason and not just for a a cash grab that related to a flavor of the month trend. The Buckeyes wearing scarlet and grey against Michigan is more time honored, and does more to define the identity of what it means to play for Ohio State. In the long run, these time honored traditions will deliver more for efforts to sustain the program, which includes recruiting, than the short term trend of a cash grab cuz "kewl uniformz bro!"
These are just my opinions and I know others disagree. But your insinuation that I'm arguing for a rigid adherence to everything good or bad from the beginning and don't accept any change is way off the mark, that's all.
Traditionally good teams shouldn't have to use these alternate uniforms to recruit, hype players, fans, whatever. BAMA is the most dominant team over the last 10 yrs and their uniforms work
Proud Graduate of The Ohio State University-2014
Bama’s traditional uniforms aren’t doing crap for them tonight.
Bama, Bama, Blah.
Alt unis are fine but at least make them look like Ohio State. These didn't and were ugly as well.
We had a neat tradition growing up. We'd all gather around the radio or the black and white TV and root on the Buckeyes.
We don't do that anymore. I now have a 70" TV with a Bose Surround Sound system.
Deal with it.
Hah. We had to listen to telegraph in Morse Code. The games were all played in the Snow. Both ways uphill... +1 for having a TV...
78, I'm gonna have to start a "Go Fund Me" page to see if we can raise enough money to get you a TV. I'm assuming you have electricity since you have a telegraph. I'm not really sure if telegraphs use electricity or if it's just freaking magic.
Ran off of batteries but yah, it was pure freaked magic. The nice thing about paper tape was replay was we had instant replay whenever we wanted it.
Very nice. Cutting edge stuff. Would have come in handy for watching replays of Michigan beating up on high school and club teams back in the good ole days.
Great win over our rival and you have two negative threads ...so far.
Not sure how I missed this gem.
Hello you have reached the winter of my discontent...leave a message.
The alt unis did seem to confuse O'Korn on that one pass of his...
These are my vote. I hate the sleeves ever since the change in 06
Same. These uniforms Tressel introduced have been cringe worthy since the very first photo. These should always be tOSU's uniforms.
I find it interesting that every time a thread about uniforms is started it gets hijacked by the "Who cares" posters. If you really "Don't care" or believe "It doesn't matter" then why not ignore the topic? As for me, I agree with the OP that THE GAME should be reserved for traditional uniforms. Don't get me wrong, I actually liked this years alternate uniforms, but I'm tired of seeing them in the biggest games of the year. Lets be honest about this, the alternate uniforms are not being designed to make the players happy or to impress recruits. They are a money grab pure and simple, and that is the reality of the times we live in. Finally, if these alternate uniforms are going to be permanent fixture, can they try to maintain the school's primary colors(Scarlet and Gray) in there design.
You are right AZBuck. The uniform threads have the usual predictable posts. Mine included. I dont know why some get upset and say so what who cares, they can wear polka dots, or pink tutus, just win blah blah blah. I find it hard to understand how some say it does not matter what the heck they wear.
I dont buy the reruits BS. Sure they may say the like them but nobody is choosing Ohio State based on alternates.
I am ok with alternates if they look ok. This years did not. I want legitimate throwbacks mixed in. Not fauxbacks like they have worn most of the time. I would like to see Ohio State Michigan in color on color. But yes wearing the usual uniforms for Michigan again would be nice.
For me, the wins wearing alternates always feel like much less of a Buckeye win. Feels like some other team won when we look like Rutgers, Texas Tech, Oregon or Cincinnati.
However, as others mentioned, the addict has gotten a taste (of more money) and this won't stop until Nike/OSU can't wring any more cash out of the venture.
Seek some help..
Theire is only one truth...
I think the uniforms excite the kids playing, so how about we let those who have to actually wear them decide what they want.
You're not a parent are you?
Bring back the grey sleeve stripes plzzzzzz
The gray sleeves look so much better.
