Time to put November back on track.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
There are times where the worst thing that can be spread is misinformation
I just want this team to play physical. I feel they lack that bite this year on offense. Let Rashod try running it up the middle, what else is there to lose. Show the boys what toughness is. I just want to see him truck someone up the middle....just once...thats all I want for Christmas Thanksgiving.
^will it happen, no..sadly. lol

"he needs to be more hands off and let his assistants do their job"
Thank you!! Couldn't agree more..I think he's just afraid to let go of what used to be, still living in the past when his style was new to college football and noone knew how to stop it..
Meyer has done his job with building the culture and he's got two HCs as coordinators. I hope he learns how to trust what he has built.
"Because we couldn't go for three"
David is kinda a punk.
Joke of course, keep writing kid!
I season my simple food with hunger
I wouldn't say punk, but I do disagree with most of David's takes today. In particular, I do agree that Dobbins should get more carries but the reason his YPC is so high is because JT makes the right read 95% of the time. If the play call is to automatically hand the ball off within the same formation there will be many stops at the line of scrimmage. Now, run the type of plays that led to Zeke going crazy during the last few games of 2014 with similar blocking up front and Dobbins can be very successful. But the assessment that the defense is taking away the handoff and forcing JT to keep the ball is spot on. Iowa made a blue print for other teams to follow, so the offensive scheme and/or play calling needs to change accordingly.
What is demoralizing: Iowa didn't make that blueprint. Sparty did, two years ago. And now several teams have followed it.
"I don't think you necessarily have to get a trophy to be a winner." - Nick Saban 1/2/15.
The read option is holding the team back and frankly makes JT's job that much harder. He's trained to keep on certain reads. He's a solid but not great runner, but he's a great reader. He bangs away for 5 yards a clip but also gets hit 20 times (and is simply not a home run threat). And then we wonder why he can't get in rhythm.
Take the training wheels off of Kevin Wilson's offense and let's see what we can do. It's still high stakes (B!G and NY6 game at stake), but it gives us a preview for what to do next year to contend for a natty.
David, I appreciate the honesty.
Vegas friend says Vegas is smart. Big MSU win and OSU loss means most money coming in is on MSU. No way they offer up free money like this...
"Making the Great State of Ohio Proud!" UFM
I say again let Wilson eat lol Go Buckeyes!!!!!!
Or will he sulk in a little hole running for 3 yards left and right while Urban Meyer looks on from the sidelines perplexed? My brain says the former, but my gut says the latter.
"Medicine is not a science" - Leo Spaceman
I'm with David on this one.. I'll still be cheering for the home team, but I'm tempering my own expectations after last week's "scarlet-colored-glasses-shattering" experience.
Don't text while driving.
Creed vs. Balboa 1.
Apollo State wins in a slugfest they should have run away and hid with early in the game while a plucky Spartan Stallion sticks around long enough to be a threat but just doesn't have the raw talent to overcome the gap.
Proudly dispensing unbridled arrogance since 1983.
I am hoping I am wrong but my gut says big win for Sparty. It will look like Iowa part 2. Meyer will look lost and JT will sit on the bench with the same "I'm done" look he had when Oklahoma came to town. LBs will continue to look lost.
Its gonna get ugly after the game.
You have brilliantly articulated the worst case scenario. And it could actually happen. But the worst case is very much the exception, not the rule. I expect better, especially since we just experienced our Waterloo, Little Big Horn and Dunkirk rolled into one. C’mon Bucks, show us your best selves!
Thanks, Steely. "Worst Case Scenario" is called that for a reason. In most cases, it's also "Very unlikely scenario."
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
It all depends on which team takes the field, IMO. Angry Buckeyes or Mopey Buckeyes - and this includes the coaches.

Hope it's chip on shoulder Buckeyes, because . . .
Angry = Stupid
and I want don't want to see mopey dopey players, or coaches.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
We saw last year- with the same players, switching Dante Booker for Raekwon McMillan – a unit that was very strong under the leadership of Luke Fickell
Middle Linebacker is the QB on the defense. He should lead the team in tackles. He should be the anchor. Not sure "only" losing Raekwon means the LB group should be good to go this season. That's a HUGE loss when you don't have anyone with experience that's a natural fit for the position. Just look at the 2012 team. We had to move Boren to MLB because guys like Storm Klein and Curtis Grant weren't getting the job done. That was a LB group that was struggling before we moved Boren and that group had Ryan Shazier on it...
Not to mention the reality is we got worse at two linebacker positions from last years squad. Kwon to Worley is a downgrade and 2016 Baker to 2017 Booker is a downgrade.
Maybe Davis is the problem... but when you have a middle linebacker in Worley that doesn't have the natural skillset to play MLB and continues to freelance like an outside backer just about any position coach is going to have problems. And Fickell had 3 first round picks now playing in the NFL at DB last year that made everyone in the back 7 look better.
Maybe Davis is the problem ...
Under Fickell, the linebacking corp was more disciplined, more assignment oriented. Fans expected more explosive play, especially from McMillan, but the LB's got the job done. Under Davis (and Schiano) the goal seems to be let athleticism win the day, while opposing OC's feast on the lack of discipline.

Re: your comments on Worley, I'd add that the panelist (D. Wertheim) said that all three linebackers were high four stars. According to 247, Worley was a run of the mill three star with a composite rating of 0.8675.
Yes, I apologize for that. Worley was a four-star according to just 247sports.com, but not the Composite Rankings. Good catch RF&E.
Two servings of Humble pie. Let's not eat any more.
Andrew: Meyer's biggest problem is from Sunday through Friday, he delegates his responsibilities to his assistant coaches. But come game day, he micromanages everything. Most notably play-calling.
Amen. The common piece of JT right and JT left in tight games over the years is UFM.
way to be a buzzkill, David.
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Joey Bosa
If teams have figured out that they just shut off the read option so that JT has to always keep it then OSU had better figure out other options to their offense!! Seems like we can still get the ball to Dobbins w/o the RO!!
I am very pessimistic about our team, coaches and just how good Urban really is!! He seems real good when we're winning but lost when it doesn't work!! Saturday is a huge game for all of them! He loses this one and he might start getting heart symptoms and want out???
Last week was an aberration. We will win.
What I'm wondering is, if Dobbins gets 25 carries for say 120 yards and JT completes 55-60% for a couple hundred yards and we still somehow take a loss - what then? The majority of our run game is predicated on reading the defense at the line of scrimmage, so fewer carries for Dobbins very likely means that his option was repeatedly what they chose to take away. Would the many calling for us to give him the damn ball have us repeatedly dial up runs for him into a defensive front that is focused on firing to the hole where he is heading? Because that will look like 3 hours of us running "Dave."
I have been under the impression Coach Schiano actually called most of the Penn State game on both sides of the ball. Although I do believe defensively against Iowa, he did not call the best game.
