.Seems like Iowa is always a pain, but OSU just seems to have a whammy against them. Witha Nebraska win over Northwestern, a Maryland win over Rutgers, and an OSU win, that gives OSU 3 more teams that they have beaten with winning records. Should help them in that (stupid) metric for the playoff comiittee.

I don't think Nebraska is beating Northwestern. Maryland would be an easy pick if they were healthy, and I still think they'll pull it out.. but it looks like a close one to me
That story makes me feel a bit better.

I know what you mean RM - there is some nervous and anxious anxiety out there.

Last night and that #6 ranking is more than enough to relieve any possible feelings of anxiety. Urban is probably making it very clear that they need to win and win big. He is probably presenting doomsday scenarios that could happen if the Buckeyes do not handle business. He will present it once, then focus on the process of getting better and beating Iowa.
Great points - this team is not only on a mission but has unfinished business.
That is not how Meyer (Or Saban) Approaches these situations. He will be stressing special teams, and making sure we are nine units strong for the game. If that is the case the blowouts will follow
Read what I posted again. He will present it once... then focus on the process of getting better and beating Iowa. That is pretty much verbatim how these guys handle it.
I whole heartedly disagree. They don't waste a goddam second worrying about "doomsday scenarios" They concentrate on their job and that's exactly what they present. Nick Saban would go on a 10 minute tirade if you suggested he discussed that imaginary BS with his players... Urban would say "that's stuff you guys think about, we're not worried about that, Iowa is a good hardnosed football team and Kinnick is a tough place to play, we are focused on Iowa". And you can argue that's coaches speech, but its not. Only loser football coaches waste time thinking about other teams and other games. Winners worry about their job, and that's it.
Congratulations on playing D3 college ball or getting a tour of the Woody.
If playing for a conference championship team at Ohio State for a National Championship winning hall of fame coach is considered D3, or if my 4 day a week lifting schedule in the football weight room is considered a "tour" then thanks for the pat on the back, guy. Cheers
Sorry for getting into it with you. I honestly didn't think coaches would press teams to blow other teams out.
So this is you?
Honest question, do you think coaches pressing you to blow a team out actually helps you accomplish that? I get the impression from Nick Saban is a quest for perfection.. if you play a near perfect game with talent like Ohio State or Alabama has.. a blowout is going to happen.
Another question.. If you are that guy in the video above.. Do you believe that the kickers can't kick it out of the endzone consistently?
Only Hawkeye worth a damn performed medical work for a M.A.S.H. unit in Korea. Buckeyes by 90

Yeah now is not the time for a letdown. Beat Iowa.

A truly elite team respects all opposition and knows that upsets happen mostly due to lack of mental preparation and focus. There is a difference between confidence and ego.
Plus we are #6 for CFP and no one is taking us seriously as a top 4 team after zero points against Clemson last year and the total sloppiness debacle last Saturday. We have a long way to go if NC is our goal and the team has a lot to prove. We need to win out and continue to win impressively.
There will be no letdowns of Clemson-like proportions as long as Kevin Wilson is running the offense. (Yeah, Beck still sucks...)
Well, Columbus wasn't looking for America, my man, but that turned out to be pretty okay for everyone.
I second this

Bucks are perfectly positioned. Just take care of business (read: figure out special teams) and the rest will figure itself out. First things first. Take care of the Hawkeyes.

love the fact that they're #6 for this exact reason...team should stay angry

Big win last Saturday, but they couldn't feel the win until the closing minutes. I think their energy and, more importantly, their focus will carryover. I'd be more concerned about their heads if they'd actually not spotted psu so many points and instead put the points up from the beginning onward to match their stats. My guess is that they're anxious to continue proving themselves.
"A lot of dead people wish they were out here right now."
There is literally nothing else that the team controls right now, other than making sure they take care of business against everyone. Just go and get it done, and let’s see where we end up at the end.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Sounds crazy but I'd actually be more worried if we were playing a lower caliber B1G team this week. The fact that Iowa kept it close with PSU proves they at least have the possibility of playing close with good teams. So the good guys should continue to have that laser focus knowing Iowa isn't just going to lay down.
“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”
True. I think Urban should take the spread and play the first quarter as if we spotted them 17. This will end them by halftime. Let JT air it out a bit early and then use all 3 RBs to pound them into submission. Get the backups in for the 4th quarter, and start prepping for Sparty... then repeat!
Meyer hanging loose from the starter gun against Iowa, and at Iowa ... eh, who really knows. He is the main source of confidence for the team, players and staff. It was remarkable hearing him say how he was the only one panicking during the game last week. Could be that a lot of things are in change right now--for the better. And kickoff coverage cannot get worse, right?
Only concerned if Iowa wins the coin toss and elects to receive...
Kickoff coverage jokes aside, I think the team is hungry for more after an epic win.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
I was only half as excited after touchdowns vs Penn State because I knew we had to do a freaking kickoff
Iowa is a 'bottom of the top tier' B1G team and cannot be taken lightly. They are the third best team we have played and we lost bad to one and barely squeaked by the other (coach speak). If we let up, even for a second against the upset specialist Hawkeyes, we could easily be beat. If we come angry, with a lot to prove, and we have a lot to prove to jump 2 spots in the CFP poll, and play accordingly, we will crush Iowa. In reality, if we sneak out of Kinnick with a 7-10 point win, it will hurt us in the pollsters eyes, so we need to hang 50-21 on them.
Beat the crap out of Iowa; not because we can, but because we need to.
If we play our game we will blow them out.. no need to worry about what other teams do or where we are ranked. Start worrying about other crap or trying to do too much is how you drop a game you shouldn't
No letdowns only beatdowns!
