It was frustrating to see Barrett struggle earlier this year. Needless to say, he has righted the ship. It always amazes me how quickly this fan-base can so easily forget how great we have it here. Hopefully Barrett can go out with a Natty, and then it will be hard to excluse him as the #1 OSU-QB-GOAT.
Thank the Maker that I was born in Ohio, cradle of coaches, US Presidents, confederate-stomping Generals, and home of The Ohio State University Football Buckeyes- 2014 UNDISPUTED National Champions!
Now that he's gotten a chance to have Coach Day and Wilson in his ear after a few easy victories the plan is starting to take its course. I love where this team is going and now JT has to feel a lot more confident heading into the PSU game.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
I was on the #benchJT train early on, but I see now that I jumped the gun. He's killing it, and you're right -- if he wins out he's undoubtedly the greatest OSU QB of all time. I'd actually be willing to say that regardless of whether we make the playoff; as long as we beat Michigan, he's the GOAT.
I was on his side until the OU game. It might have still just been a play calling thing in that game, but it was bad at that point. He has looked good in recent weeks, much better passing the ball than the previous year or two really. I mean the fact that they are making an effort to throw the ball is huge in and of itself.
The next 4 weeks will tell us where we are going to be. I say buckle up and enjoy the ride.
Hey Cancer! This ass kicking is brought to you by the Guernsey county mafia. Give it Hell 84!
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Joey Bosa
JT is playing really well. That was easily his best career passing game just based on the variety of people he hit and his accuracy. After seeing the strength of the wind on the field, I feel even better about what he did. Lot's of good passes and no excuses in less than ideal conditions.
If the coaches remember to keep the TE's involved against PSU, I think OSU wins decisively.
I already gave my heart felt comment regarding JT the leader on another post, so here I will simply state, thank you good man! May the team take up your mantle and fight as hard as they can as long as they can for their are those that never can! I mean this for any and all to read, if the team goes as hard as JT against opponents then we will be in every game every time! GO BUCKS!
I would rather be on hand with 10 men then elsewhere with 10,000 - Timur Lenk
All of these things being said, I was always team Cardale Jones! I have always believed that the QB all things being equal should be an Ohio guy. JT has shown me beyond a shadow of a doubt all things are NOT equal!
Definitely inflated numbers due to the competition, but his consistency has been impressive. If he shows up and lights up Penn State, then we are in business.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
That'll be the measuring stick and if / when we win - his distractors won't have much to say.
Even if the numbers aren’t flashy, say he just maintains control, and manages the game. 240 yards, 2 tds, no turnovers, and a few key rushing attempts. I think that and beating the #2 team in the country puts him firmly in the Heisman conversation.
I believe he's already there - heard this morning on the DP show that he could end up in New York.
How about 28/43 for 245 yds, 1 TD and no TOs? Interestingly, that was his stat line last year. Without the special teams nightmares, Bucks would've won that game by 7 or more.
Last year, JT wasn't lights out @PSU, but I thought he played well enough to have earned a win. I can't wait to see how it goes this year - hope he and the offense go apeshit on the Nittie Kitties.
“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt
Those offenses privilege throwing the ball more than Ohio State and still Barrett compares well.
and let's not forget that JT leaves the game in the 3rd quarter with the game well in hand while other QBs are battling it out for their lives to the very end.
One could make that case against pretty much any team though. Most big time programs play a number of lesser competition. And it is what make the stats look huge in the end.
Corners are playing a lot more solid. Most of the passing yards came on crossing/slant type routes over the middle, and a screen to Ozigbo. Sheffield and Annette still get turned around occasionally but have improved a lot on finding and playing the ball. 2nd Nebraska TD was a beautiful toss just an inch beyond the reach of Ward who had good position and I really thought was going to break up the pass or pick it off. If we tackle better in middle of field, stats from other night aren't nearly as bad.
After Oklahoma, what I saw was a QB who didn't trust his receivers and receivers not blocking very well or running good routes. I was doubtful that the trust could come together for him, but boy has it ever. Accuracy is up, as well. Last two games, seldom throwing behind or way over head of receiver.
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
It’s clear that Spielman was hell bent on getting his name in the Ohio State record books. Let’s not bother with semantics, like “he plays for the other team.”
We got it rolling against poor defenses for sure. Now for the next step. Four out of five next games have really good defenses and some of those stats will drop significantly but getting five BIG Ws is the most important stat.

I love the way Barrett and the entire offense is playing right now, including the coaching staff and play calling. Now, over the last 5 games we have played teams which average 79th in total defense. In 3 of our next 5 match ups we play the #1, #5, and #9 ranked defenses in the country as they are ranked right now (TTUN, ToTUN, and PSU respectively).
J.T. and the rest of the offense are going to have a great opportunity to prove to everyone they should be considered elite. Hopefully what we see over the rest of the season is what we have seen over the last 5 weeks. Cause if we play that well against those defenses, no one is going to want to mess with us in the post season.
Drive, Drive on down the field, Men of the Scarlet and Gray!
I will give you another reason to love JT..watch the 3rd down play for Indiana in overtime vs ttun...if the qb reads the defensive end properly...he keeps the ball and walks into the end zone. Instead the tailback is stuffed at the line and 4th down is a cluster $#ck and IN loses again.
We all love passing.but running the offense is still job 1.
ttun 2019 offense...same pig, different lipstick.
He made some horrible reads in that sequence. 2 on the zone read, and another on the pass. The 4th down had no chance, but a good qb punches it in on any of the 3 previous plays.
That is true, the run option is a pretty important part of the offense for OSU, but it is wonderful to see more balance in the offense and not just the run option or QB run.
The play calling for Indiana at the goal line there was pretty questionable. The read that he read wrong was the best shot they had. They had a good roll out pass to a WR, but the play was great and execution was poor. It is why Indiana fights to be mediocre I think. That said, they held close that whole game.
Welcome back all JT bandwagon jumpers.
I admit that I soured on him and wanted to give another QB a go after the OU game. I was pretty supportive before that though. Seems like the play calling is as much or more to blame than anything in some of the bad loss games. He contributes to it but the play calling when it becomes conservative is pretty bad.
Hope the momentum can keep going through PSU and beyond. Not going to score 50 against the better teams (I hope they do and I am wrong), but with how well he is seeing the field and the calls are good. So trends are all up. Hopefully the WRs can keep doing their job of stretching the field too.
Stretch the field with that run option going well and the LBs and safeties will be lost.
I'm certainly gonna pump my brakes when it comes to Jt . Yes he has look fantastic week by week against lower talented teams. I'm really happy for him I hope this is his year to shine and make me eat all the words I have said negative about him. But for that to happen for me to become a believer he truly needs carry over this production over to the penn state game. If hopefully when he beats them in a non stale fashion I will aboard back on the Jt train .
GO BUCKS!! BEAT STATE PENN!
Late in - excellent breakdown here.
Amazed not only at what JT is doing, but the fact that he's righted the ship with authority.
Ready to see it continue.
Got M...igan gossip? Bang it here.
