Enjoyable to see a (1st) team deliver expected results against a tam who was completely overmatched. How about Buckeye Nation take a week off handing out criticism...
*Except Matt Millen. Go in on him all you want! Go Bucks, tho - let’s get on a roll!

Fields of Dreams
3 QBs. 7 receivers with TDs. Fix the penalties. On to the next one.
Two of those PIs were very questionable, the Roughing the punter; he was clearly pushed into the kicker. I didn't think they were that sloppy overall.
One of the PIs in particular looked to me like textbook defense. The other two, eh maybe.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
I only thought the first one was questionable. Sheffield was a bit of a liability out there on 3rd down, especially when he was covering the go-to receiver.
on a brighter note, outside of 1-2 bad throws each, JT and Haskins looks pretty good (the competition could have had something to do with that).
You score a touchdown, and you score a touchdown, and you score a touchdown.......

Overall nice win by the starters
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
3-1, opportunity to go 4-1.
Growing pains, but saw some new faces take steps forward today.
We already 3-1, Hove...
EDIT: Hove in with the fix, fast
Yeah, had already forgotten Indiana...

Jekyll and Hyde. I think they played amazing, but the penalties and turnovers are something to be worked on.
All in all, it was a productive day of football.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
How about that Joe Burrow kid?
I hear that JT bloke is pretty good too.
Meh, he was only playing against UNLV.
We looked great today, and plenty of backups got some quality reps. Apart from a few bad PI calls and two turnovers inside the 5, there's a lot to love. JT looked very accurate today as well which was great to see.
Loved seeing Chase Young, Jason Cornell, and Browning standing next to one another.
Only one of the turnovers inside the five actually hurt us. The other got us a bonus two points.
I enjoyed watching all the of the 2nd teamers as much as I did the starters. Love to see these guys play with live reps
I think its time to start Okudah, or at least work him into the first team, because Kendall is just not cutting it period. He's the weak link in the secondary
Hope they bomb his ass the whole game! Wish him the best though. https://t.co/RsZxtLZ5wm

same thing that was happening at practice anyway
— Alphonse Taylor (@SHANKK50) September 1, 2017
Same thing happened at Alabama, it also doesn't help that our corners are not taught to turn their heads around
But all in all good game from everyone else, Bosa is a monster
I don't think he played that bad. Those PI calls were mainly due to bad technique...he was at least I position. Technique can be fixed.
Good game, good game.

Bucks with the knockout in the first half. Wish we could have kept it going in the 2nd though.
Side note: C.J. Saunders could be the Bucks version of Hunter Renfrow. Runs great routes and catches the ball with his hands not his body.
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
He should be starting...assuming he can still get separation against better teams.
seems like a guy who knows his routes and has a knack for getting openin space, aka Fred Biletinikoff

A solid TEAM win. Sat down the 1st team and watched the backups get some meaningful reps. Go Bucks!
nice day CJ Saunders!!
Please tell me the pick six will quiet the JT benchers.
first half was fun as hell. Go Buckeyes
He ain't even stretch doe!!
Haskins has an arm and the future looks bright. But maybe the experts are right and JTB gives us the best chance to win.
Haha it's a good learning experience for him for sure. Haskins played a majority of his time with back ups all over the field. He lead a quick, efficient TD drive at the end of the half with the starters tho.
Main difference I've seen other than velocity is Haskins doesn't need a lot of short throws and screens to be effective or get going like JT. He can come in and riffle the ball all over the field. We actually see slant routes and that gerbil completed with him. I do like his quick, decisive reads and throws too. Future is bright with him.
I agree his arm is better than JTB. QB is more than arm talent. He made bad decisions and overthrows too, those weren't the fault of the 2nd or 3rd team. They were all him.
Having said that, I think he will learn, grow, and could be a great QB. I am rooting for it and expecting it.
That's true, JT does all those things too and he's in his 4th year as the starter for the most part. Haskins def has a lot more potential than JT in terms of throwing that football and it's pretty easy to see. JT is in the record books for a reason though. He may not be the best QB but he's still pretty good for the most part. Unless we're facing a tough D then you never know what you're gonna get.
I'll definitely agree that Haskins has more arm talent and likely more potential as a pro-QB than JTB! And I do think JTB' passing has regressed some. He used to be better when Herman was coordinator - though I think Wilson will get him back to that level.
Like I said, though, QBing is more than just arm talent. Haskins needs to make some better reads (he missed some). He can straight sling it though. As Urban said, he had the best mechanics he'd ever seen from a HS QB. You can see that in him for sure.
Good W. Still need to work on some things but this game was the classic stat stuffing and play the back ups a lot type game so can't overreact to much. Haskins got an arm tho. Makes me excited for the future passing game. Harris and Grimes gonna be nice to watch out there over the next few years with their size advantage. A shot on the sidelines of those two talking during the game they tower over all the other receivers minus Victor.
Berry, minus the fumble looks like he could develop into a threat at TE. A beast and athletic as hell.
Agreed. Berry has butter fingers but he'll get better.
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
Watching Chase Young as a true freshman reminds me of 6yr old birthday surprises
JT Burrow should have seen more time. I know he was coming back from an injury, but he looked smooth running the 3rd team offense.
Didn't want to risk injury to that hand. Probably why Haskins came back in to line up under center for victory formation.
He should be starting with JK Weber.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Saunders is emerging as "that guy". Seeing some good things. Haskins shooting lasers and even showed some scrambling ability. Little disappointed in some of the the calls, but hey, no one ever cheers for the refs.
Hopefully this generates confidence and momentum moving forward.
I'm definitely not picking a fight, just making an observation, but I thought Haskins scrambling ability left a lot to be desired. Kinda looked like he was stuck in quicksand when the pocket collapsed. But he'll work on it.

You people are unbelievable
You've got barbecue back there?
What's that supposed to mean? I even tried (apparently unsuccessfully) to point out I'm not starting an argument. I was going to post that Haskins seemed stuck in the mud but this seems like the better place to do it. I'm sick of the arguing so that's definitely not what I was doing. I feel as though your comment is a direct result of the ridiculousness that has been the last two weeks.
Would love to know the reason behind JT not getting Saunders in his receiver group and Haskins not getting McLaurin. Odd especially since this was the second broadcaster ( Millen) to say JT has raved about Saunders as a guy "he can trust"...
Loved seeing all the young guys getting some real snaps.
Future is bright, like the direction. JT looks to be getting in stride, Haskins is going to have a very nice career here. Playcalling still awkward at times, but when is it ever perfect? On to Rutgers...
"Because I couldn't go for three"
I think we should be working Saunders in the slot a lot more. He might not have the speed that Campbell has but he has great instincts, hands and route running. Not saying he should automatically be the starter but I would like to see him getting 3-4 touches a game.
Reminds me a lot of Gonzo. Would love to see more of him with Barrett.
"You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, & in the manner in which you live.
So, live. Live. Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you. "

And Dane. He looks closer to the size of Dane S. But they both caught the ball more with their hands than their bodies and ran good routes.
I'd like to see Saunders in some of the 3 WRs sets paired with Mack and Campbell or 4 with Victor. Still not sure I know what McLaurin's role is supposed to be and it seems pretty obvious that Saunders could thrive as a slot/possession be where you are supposed to be WR.
I love it when we are off the radar and then just start going to work...feeling a little like 2014 around here
Why does Bill Landis say Haskins is the clear #2 QB ? Does he know something that Meyer doesn't know (say).
I think the fact that he played a half and Burrow played a series means that’s not a huge leap to make.
Meyer also said Burrow not 100%
Burrow got in on the action, looked good in his very limited action. Not sure who is better between Burrow and Haskins but I hope they get a legit competition to decide it.
Hard to tell. But in one series with the 3rd string offense - Burrow was 4/4 and moved the ball well.
Very impressed with "walk on" C.J. Saunders. Kid had six receptions for over 100 yards. Very impressive and nice passes by Haskins and Burrow.
Agreed! I think he has earned some reps with the first Team receiving group.
All the WR's played really well. I don't there was a single holding penalty by a WR today. And, I think everyone who got in had a catch. Nice!!
Good team win for the Bucks today! Bosa is a freak and good to see Chase Young in there with significant playing time. All of a sudden that win over FSU for Bama not looking as impressive. FSU might be in for a long season.
Because I couldn't go for three. -- Woody Hayes
FSU is the new kid on the block at our Buckeye bar. Very quiet group today. (sad face /s)

Love that they emptied the bench most of all. Those snaps will pay dividends in the future.
What did you guys think of Laurinitas in the booth? I didn't even realize he retired from the NFL.
Wasn't bad. Going to be yet another Buckeye callin' games all over soon.
IMMEDIATE THOUGHTS ON THE GAME:
I think Saunders earned time with the 1's after this game. Seriously, dude can play.
Backups on the Oline...need some work.
JTB looked the better this week throwing the ball on time and on target. I know it was UNLV - but he was better this week than against Army - and accurate and on time is always good. He sailed two passes. Got the ball out quicker today and used the intermediate middle of the field.
Haskins can simply make some NFL throws but he had some bad decisions and overthrows, too. Had a nice little run, too. Made the wrong read in the run game a couple times. He's a lot like Cardale in the good and the bad. But I think his upside is higher. He looked better when playing with the first team, of course, but the pick 6 and his overthrows weren't the fault of the WRs. I like that he found the TE Berry a few times.
Joe Burrow needed more time. I know he's coming off an injury, but he looked good - and that was with the 3rd team.
The WRs and RBs dropped some passes again. We've got to get that straightened out. Other than that, I thought they blocked well and got open more.
I don't think our DB issues are resolved. Still worried there. But Arnette played really well today, which was encouraging. Ward was good. Fuller played well. Webb was decent. Smith takes too many bad angles but he can hit.
Our LBs and DEs need to do a little better maintaining leverage, on the whole. We still over-pursue and are over-aggressive. OU used that against us.
Kickoffs and coverage much improved on the whole.
Did like to see burrow get second team reps against Rutgers if it we get up big. 2014 proved 2 QBs aren't enough. I think Haskins has big arm syndrome, where he thinks he can fit it in any window, but that's youth.
Have you ever seen a fierce animal who you were sure wouldn't bite? Because I haven't.
I had to call the Columbus Police Dept to report this assault. Absolute beat down of unlv. Thanks for coming.
Noon games suck
Good win! Three thoughts, and many of you have pointed these out:
1. JT is the starter. Missed his biggest throw of the game on second possession on a corner route to the sideline. Otherwsie accurate and still best leader of offense. Hard to tell overall as his first read was often open and he hardly had to "read" the defense post snap, if ever. Hoping we develop the intermediate passing game more next week.
2. Corners still look kind of weak, minus Denzel Ward. Sheffield/Arnette have to step up in the pass game before Penn St or we could get. Interesting to see if the frosh DB's see more time early in a game.
3. KJ Hill is our possession guy and Parris Campbell is our explosive weapon in pass game. After that there's no true separation besides maybe Victor (red zone) and Dixon/McClaurin. Saunders would be interesting if he can beat man coverage against B1G teams. If there were four more than solid receivers clicking with JT plus Baugh, the offense will be improved.
As for Haskins, he is the future. He looked awesome early by feeling pressure and delivering accurately downfield. Got a little sloppy in the second half and with more reps he looks good. Has a Jameis Winston "easiness" to him. Burrow looks more than serviceable and is the better runner. Should be a very competitive QB battle next year. Looking forward to more steady improvement the next three weeks. Next true litmus test not until October 28th.
The secondary didn't even give up 100 passing yards today. How is that weak? There were a few bad PI calls but would you rather be called for a PI or give up a 40 yard completion? I'll take the first option.
Sheffield SUCKS! He was either getting burnt or getting a PI called..
"Its gonna be cold, its gonna be grey, and its going to last you the rest of your life!".
Hes playing his first season, relax. Remember when Conley looked atrocious in 2014? You should really stop bashing the players on this team.
He never really got burned though. The PI calls were due to poor technique, which can be fixed.
It's UNLV. The yards were a low total because the dline destroyed them. Yes penalties can be fixed, my point is that the secondary still has much room for improvement. Definitely not bashing the guys but still a ways to go before we can say we are a playoff type team, which is the measuring stick.
I don’t think people realize just how bad UNLV is, they’re a lot worse than Army. Army would clobber this team. When you play a team that’s as bad as they are you SHOULD be able to do whatever you want against them. JT looked good, as he should..he’s a fifth year senior with loads of talent around him playing a god awful secondary. If he didn’t throw 5 TDs today that’s a problem. OSU looked good with their executions and that’s what matters. Haskins can flat out sling the ball, and can make throws that JT either can’t, or that he struggles mightily with. That being said (and I took An absolute beating in the game forums) JT is the guy going forward, because he has experience and Urbans backing. I really hope JT is turning a corner, we’ll find out against Maryland which will be a test for our secondary...Rutgers should end up with the same outcome as today...and then the big test comes. Can JT get out of the big game slump against PSU? Well just have to wait and see. I’ll take the win!. Go Bucks!
oh, and Kendall Sheffield is TERRIBLE! Is there nobody that can replace him?? The guy can’t cover to save his life!
Bucksfan... I want to give credit where credit is due. This is the kind of balanced QB take that deserves an upvote. You have JTB credit, and still also made sure to point out Haskins obvious talent. That's accurate.
They're both Buckeyes. I'm thankful for both. And if we need Haskins or Burrow to beat PSU... I'm fine with that. But I respect all that JTB has done for OSU.
Agreed... I think our DBs need to improve if we are gonna beat PSU.
I like that CJ Saunders guy. He has good hands.
Haskins showed his promise and his youth. That arm tho. On to Rutgers.

Solid win, though I hate seeing the Bucks surrender so many points to such a bad team. I said it during the game, ave will say again that outside of downs 1-3 in the red zone, I liked the play calling. It is fear that the staff is trying to build confidence and improve rapport between the QB and WRs. There were a lot of positives to take from this game, and unfortunately several negatives as well. Hopefully, the staff changes/improves the CBs' technique when it comes to playing the ball in the air. The current approach is clearly not working.
Haskins flashed his potential and reminded me of a young Cardale. The potential is there. Let's hope that the staff does a better job of maximizing and improving it than they did with 12 Gauge. As far as the "QB controversy" goes, Haskins unquestionably has a higher ceiling than Barrett and could end up being better, but as of today, Barrett is indeed the best QB on the roster.
Let's hope the Bucks and the staff can continue to build on this and improver moving forward. Fingers crossed that they're learning things that will help/translate when playing good teams.
Surrendered so many points? This was a buckeye practice late in 2nd quarter. Those 21 points don't matter. Anyone watching this game would consider it a shutout
Granted, this game wound have been 86-10 if the starters played wire to wire. I just was hoping for that doughnut like Bosa "guaranteed." I know that 7 were against backups, and 7 were courtesy of Haskins, but giving up 21 to a team that awful is a little disappointing.
That's my biggest concern also. We should have shut them out. Even our deep depth should have shut them down. Learn from it and work damned hard to improve. Much More talent at Rutgers versus UNLV.
Lol you can't expect shutouts no matter what team you play. I'm sure Penn State didn't plan on taking Iowa to the wire either.
Don't forget the pick six too

Secondary still needs a ton of work. Sheffield looks lost out there, and those penalties were inexcusable.
the offense was efficient, dobbins couldn't be stopped, but I like the idea of them not burning him out against a lesser opponent.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I agree that Sheffield could have played better but I'd say 2/3 of those penalties were pretty ticky tak
Except for the one long run by Thomas, UNLV basically didn't do a thing against our primary defense that wasn't penalty-aided.
Browning looks really good, maybe even better than Raekwon looked as a freshman.
Dobbins has gotten to the stage where even his average games are mighty impressive. It didn't seem like he was doing much, and then you see he has 95 yards in the first half.
Berry's touchdown was the sort of play we haven't gotten out of Marcus Baugh in four seasons.
Haskins made some very impressive throws. He certainly isn't lacking for confidence.
Saunders was sure open a lot — I guess it helps that he's probably developed a rapport with Haskins while both were waiting for playing time.
Allowing fans to bring empty water bottles into the stadium was a rare magnanimous gesture from an athletic program that's not known for letting anything happen for free.
A lot of backups showed why they're backups. In particular, it's clearer than ever that we're going to be in a world of hurt if any of the starting offensive linemen go down.
The game was sloppy (penalties, though I didn't agree with all of them; 2 fumbles at the goal line; some more dropped passes). Every UNLV touchdown could be credited to a fourth down penalty or a turnover.
Only 10 points scored in the second half. There were extenuating circumstances, but still.
The third down conversion percentage was lousy once again. I was surprised that even a generally lame team like UNLV could bring pressure when it was a passing down.
Haskins had a few off throws, which would have prompted the usual groans in the stadium had Barrett made them. More to the point, he rarely came off his first read, which bit him in the butt on the pick-six. That's something that comes with experience and it's good that he got a lot of it today, but it's also maybe a sign that the folks who think he could have led a comeback against Oklahoma really don't know what they're talking about.
Enjoy this folks, it doesn't get any easier.
That's right, that's right, we bad
