Hooker? I barely knew her!
I recognize the last name from somewhere.. /s

Your call log? You and Hugh Freeze must have the same contacts.
EDIT: BRB beat me to it.
Holy shit! That was fast. Young man who knew what he wanted.
Yes-- that escalated quickly....

No shit he wasn't offered by any other big time programs. You thought we'd lose him to Bowling Green
Pitt is a big time program, especially to a kid in western PA.
I doubt it. Certainly bigger than Bowling Green but they're not top tier.
For a class that was said to be tight on spots, things are opening up some. Hooker is a take as well as Pope next week.
Might be some guys leaving to open up these spots. Anyway... welcome to the fold Hooker part 2
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Conspiracy theorists will say forced out.
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't schools limited to 25 scholly's this year, regardless of space?

Early enrollees can be counted back to the previous class, which can stretch that 25 number a bit. I'm personally excited to see another legacy come through the program, but wonder if this offer and commitment isn't at least somewhat indicative of the staff's confidence in their chances with Cook and Campbell.

I hope not, but there is usually a method to their madness, so could be.
Just a guess, but this seems to indicate it will be an "or" instead of an "and" with Cook/Campbell.
Welcome to Buckeye Nation Marcus, hope you do B1G things like your brother did.
That's still my favorite-suck it harbaugh
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!

Welcome to the class, Marcus!
Wondering how this'll effect the pursuit on Cook and Campbell down the road
Saying he will most likely play safety at OSU. should not impact them
Things seemed to have cooled with Campbell.
Love the shake weight
The shakeweight ruined the shakeweight.

This is true however not all shakeweight gifs are created equal.

Ohio State has had a lot of success recruiting legacies. Lets hope the apple didn't fall far from the tree with younger Hooker!
Griffin family? Ray and a guy named Archie.
There are a lot worse recruiting strategies than "take a guy with the same genetics as a top-10 draft pick" haha!
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
Not entirely what I expected to find when I googled "Hooker boom" but that makes it even better.
Kind of surprised by them taking 3 safeties especially after both Proctor and Woodbey said they were shutting down their recruitments and taking 2 safeties (counting Okudah as one) last year. They should only be losing 2 safeties to graduation this year.
I believe Okudah has been playing corner, no?
Couldn't tell you. I just remember reading during his recruitment he would likely move to safety.
I think that has yet to happen, and he was an early enrollee.
I think Okudah stays at corner. They have a need at corner and they say he has performed well so far. He played corner in the Spring Game and haven't heard anything from the staff about him being a possible safety, although Damon Webb was originally a corner.
I always felt he'd end up moving to safety like Jordan Fuller, Damon Webb, Wayne Davis, etc... but it looks like he's definitely getting a shot year one at CB. Seems to be a little behind Wade though at the moment, but seems to be CB #5 behind Ward, Arnette, Sheffield, and Wade.
Okudah is most definitely a corner. I refer you to his HS tape. Moving him to S would be a mistake, IMO. Sure, he'd still be a good player but he's a future superstar cb. And there certainly isn't anything wrong with having a physical cb that can make plays in the run game.
As expected BOOOOOOOOOM!
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.

I don't think Hooker's 3 star rating is indicative of his huge upside potential. Welcome to Buckeye Nation!
Wasn't his brother a 3-star? I forget how that turned out.
Malik was a 3 star, you are correct.
He picked Ohio State over 11 other offers from programs such as Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple, Toledo and West Virginia.
Not exactly the schools that I want OSU to be competing against but here's hoping he's got the talent.
He got a camp offer, so it's a bit different than just comparing offer sheets.
"Not exactly the schools that I want OSU to be competing against but here's hoping he's got the talent."
why don't you watch his tape? The internet is a large and mysterious place, I know, but I had no problem finding it. Oh that's right, offer sheets tell you everything you need to know about a recruit. Silly me.
People, watch the damn tape. On all our recruits. I implore you. Stop relying on people with journalism degrees to tell you whether or not a player is any good.
Hookers tape is a bit odd. Doesn't look like anything special on offense but looks like a completely different animal on defense. Aggressive, fast enough, knows where the ball is going and how to get there.
Watch the tape? What a highlight tape online? Every kid OSU recruits has a ridiculous highlight tape, lots of kids have ridiculous highlight tapes that shouldn't be offered. Highlight tapes mean very little. Entire game or season tapes plus a camp visit mean much more much more.
He agrees w/ you-he is just saying that people should look beyond the starhanderouters/starswallowers in the evaluation process. You are correct that highlight tapes mean little in the overall process-a former Buckeye told me that his position coach had a giant stack of VHS highlight tapes in his office that were sent to him by parents and coaches across the country, and gave them to players to use for class projects or whatever.
When I was 6 I was thinking about this rivalry. This one is seared on your soul, It's ingrained through every part of your body. -Urban Meyer
Very interesting. But trust the coaches.
Someone ask Shawn L Martin if the coaches are still "picking off a list" or "star chasing".

MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS
— Mark Pantoni (@markpantoni) July 27, 2017
The world is yours
Wonder what Hugh's "The Hooker File" looks like?
Definitely a boom. Looking forward to having this young man on campus. His brother was special. Go Bucks!
And Toledo still sucks.
Got M...igan gossip? Bang it here.
Well that escalated quickly. .gif .boom
BOOM. Welcome to the family. Again.
When has a 3 star with the last name Hooker ever done anything noteworthy for the Buckeyes. /s
It was only right.
Welcome to the Buckeyes family, Marcus. If this is a legacy recruitment, then continue with The Tradition.
Now complete the deal with some Dreads.

Exactly! I was just going to ask when he was going to start growing his hair out. Looks just like his brother :-)
Marcus with Dreads would be like the Phantom revivifying himself to the horror of his enemies. (Also the Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride.)

Nope never !!!!!!!
Waited for the Anna Kendrick boom.....along with Denzel's.
BOOM....that didn't take long
Leave one wolf alive....and the sheep are never safe
Says a lot about how Ohio State feels about this family and how this family feels about Ohio State
Back in - his highlight reel is excellent. Love the first clip - punt return, he lays a great block to spring the return for a TD.
BOOM! Congratulations, and welcome, MH.
But I thought Urban only recruited off of a list?
He does-but Schiano and Coombs told him what is up!!!!!!!!!
BOOM! If Marcus is a take for the staff that's plenty good enough for me. Go Bucks!
And Borens too.
"The most important statistic, is the number of wins in a season".........Woody Hayes
Did I read that right, another Hooker coming to tOSU...
Oh hell yes!!
"Defiance in Silence"
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.
Go Buckeyes Beat Michigan
I know he's not highly rated but I wanted him in the class!!! BOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!

Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.
I'm excited as hell for him and love a boom as much as the next guy, but after watching the tape...meh....

Good to know you gotta keep us entertained
Why stop here? Let's see if TJ Hooker still has any eligibility left! :D
Took long enough! Just imagine what he can do if he plays for 2 years!

SWEET! Welcome aboard Marcus!
16-2 is SWEET!
I like how the article earlier this week asked if the Wray's are going to be the next line of Buckeye brothers to OSU? Well BOOM it's the Hookers.
Things move rather quickly in the world of recruiting lol
I noticed. Could we have two young brothers commit within the same calendar year? What is your over/under on that? Thanks Andrew.
You can never have too many Hookers...
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
Class of 2010.
If he has half the production his brother had then tOSU got another steal. Only thing that concerns me is it took his brother 3 years to see the field, with the depth we have now seems like the same situation may arise for the younger Hooker.
As a RS Malik Hooker had to be talked out of transferring-he wasn't ready to come in and contribute at a high level. People need to stop thinking that every freshman signed is ready-physically or mentally-to immediately jump in and contribute at a high level-no matter their star level. Some players are, some players aren't-that's why they have 5 years of eligibility. 4 stars does not mean "ready to start as a freshman".
It seems that Urban has followed Max Weinberg's advice:
OSU Class of 1999
While Hugh Freeze is calling up hookers, Urban Meyer is signing them
WONDERFUL NEWS !!! GREAT !!! HOLY BUCKEYE !!! Welcome Marcus, we in Buckeye Nation are thrilled you will be playing for Ohio State ! Best of good luck in your college football experiences !! Go Bucks !!

"Hooker to the house!!!"
I never tire hearing this.

You just gave me a good gif idea, lol.
Glad to help. My GIF game is not strong
Welcome, Marcus Hooker!
Welcome to the Buckeye Family, Marcus!
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
Urban got a steal here.
Watching his film, this kid should at least a 4 star player overall, if not a 5 star. He plays with relentless effort and toughness. He can play WR, RB, or CB. He's a great tackler in space.
Maybe his versatility went against him in the rankings, vs.other players that just played CB?
But I'm more than happy to have him on board and continue our family legacies.
Alright gang, help me out. This have any bearing on Cook?
I live about 20 minutes outside of New Castle in Poland Ohio and am very familiar with the Red Hurricane staff and they believe he's got more upside (hate that vague term) then Malik did. He's def had a more prolific high school sporting career then that of Malik. Thrilled with this commitment!!! Obligatory boom gif
Is Marcus on the same level as his brother on the basketball court?
Offered yesterday and committed today. Probably not a secret that he wanted to be a Buckeye all along.
Didn't take long -- I think he just got offered? That's awesome.
Varys: I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege.
Tyrion: A wedding.
Looks like a heat seeking missile. Reminds me of Winfield/Doss.combo.
Glad he's coming to Columbus.
"Give your dream an aspiration date."
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I hope he becomes as great as his AA / 1st round brother. Without his brother's contribution last season, this young man would have received somewhere between little and no attention. Hoping for the best. This was a bit of a surprise. The 52nd best at any position would rarely get a returned phone call.
Work hard young man. Best of luck.
A list of top 3-star Ohio State Football players:
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
They forgot Darron Lee
... and Nick Mangold
Ahh - this was just Coach Tressel's recruits - Mangold should be on there at least.
Yes, this list is from an article I found from 2011.
There have been others since then, including Malik Hooker as well as Mangold.
So I guess that means that the number of stars is not as important as how the player develops at the college level, or something. I know that the names on the list and the ones that you mentioned as real good football players.
I bet Nick Mangold has made lots of money playing football, I'm sure more than some of the 5-star players in his recruiting class, for example.
Gamble, Holmes,Hartline, Robiske, Sanzenbacher-that's a helluva lot better WR corp than anything Urban has recruited.........
Thomas, D.Smith and Samuel are some of the best and Urban has been here half the time of Tressel. Just wait.
And WHO recruited/signed Devin Smith-hint-it wasn't Urban....take your recent fanboy glasses off and look at the history.
