It's all most that TIME!!!
Everything happens for a reason
Though not really a fan of the leaves in the numbers
"There's still some green showing before you see the chalk."
Would really like to see that 1928 jersey modernized into an alternate sometime soon.

I hate the offseason.
And I "would really like to see that 1968 jersey modernized into an alternate sometime soon."
How about this retro unis with gray sleeve stripes!
where are you frum?

Exactly! People won't know if we've shown up to play football or shoe their horses!

Would really like to see that 1928 jersey modernized into an alternate sometime soon
Made me think of this actually
HP references will always get an upvote from me. :)
I too love that era jersey. Made myself a diy.
1928 the Buckeyes wore steel gray pants with jerseys that style or close.
The 39 helmet was black not red.
Love the poster and have it.
Would love to see 1890-1928 made in leather jackets
Wherever you are, there you be!
Bring back the gray sleeve stripes permanately.
Nike needs to start making metallic pants again. The shiny gray pants with the gray sleeve stripes are the best uniforms in sports, imo.
Agreed the Gray Sleeve stripes should be our permanent jersey for both home and away. I'm fine with the pants as they are but to each their own! Doesn't get much better than this:
If the media guide is any consolation, isn't it hinting that those will be the permanent uniforms? Or am I just a sucker for reading the title and drooling at the picture?
"I've had smarter people around me all my life, but I haven't run into one yet that can outwork me. And if they can't outwork you, then smarts aren't going to do them much good." - Woody Hayes
Perhaps keep the pants stripe too.
m GO BLOW!!!
Those grey pants were awesome, but I don't believe Nike makes football pants like that anymore. Nike always promotes having extremely light weight equipment. Since they have gone in that direction, i haven't seen the metallic grey pants any more.
I think K-State still has them. google image search link
K-State and the Cowboys definitely have them. I would love to see those return to uniform to match the helmet, along with the gray sleeves.
Between goals and achievement is discipline and consistency. That fire you have inside to do whatever you love is placed there by God. Now go claim it. ~ Denzel Washington
Correct. Nike doesn't make shimmer fabric anymore. The Raiders, Cowboys and Kansas State have a third-party, Rippon, make them. The company has been producing uniforms for as long as I've followed along, oftentimes with the apparel company (Nike) slapping its logo on afterward.
"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity..." -John Muir
I think the shiny gray pants look like ass. Too similar to tights or spandex
I wore those in hs and college, they suck. I assume they have lighter ones now but the grey pants osu wears look comfortable by comparison.
Same. On my high school team we wore metallic blue pants. What makes them shiny is the elastic which in turn makes them heavier and more constricting.
Also the current ones breathe much better which makes a HUGE difference.
Concur. Gray sleeves, bigger numbers, and metallic pants (Dallas wears them still). I prefer the thicker black stripes but I can live with the current pants stripes.
Let's hope we are subtle in the changes and not over the top and gimmicky...

I don't hate that look of the Buckeye Leafs within the numbers. Kinda different.
Fields of Dreams
Agreed! I think it's a nice touch that's not too flashy for us old farts ;-)
I don't care what they wear but these young players do. Whatever makes them (and Nike) happy.

I'm with you, closer to 40 than 20 so a skeptic of sorts. I guess maybe we know what Terry McLaurin was doing during his Nike internship
How much is too much "extras" on the unis. First it was the Buckeye leafs at the back of the collar with "Buckeyes". Now the possibility of leafs on the numbers ? That'd just be gaudy
You wouldn't even be able to tell unless you were right next to the jersey.
The players will see it. For some reason lots of leaf stickers on the helmet looks awesome, but it looks funny on the numbers.
So why do it? I guess so we'll talk about them and some people will buy them.
I like the leafs. hey are subtle enough not to distract from the number but a nice touch. Does the NCCA require solid color numbers on jerseys?
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
NCAA doesn't have anything on it. Cal has a bear in their uni numerals.
My gosh you've bagged a wild lynx.
For those curious-
I'm an old guy - my favorite jersey/pants combo is the '68 Super Sophs look. That said, I really like the Buckeye leaves in the numbers.
Nice name, old guy

Plus one old man, plus one.
Too much time spent at the North Heidelberg rather than the classroom. SSD 68-72
Ditto - from one old fart to another.
Only rule is that it has to contrast from the color of the jersey, so sublimation is fine. Gradients are a different story. Arizona had to change its numbers a few years back to solid blue after the gradient didn't contrast enough.
Judging from the photo, the gray is back as part of the regular uniform, not just as a "championship" jersey.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
As I mentioned, it's a photo of Jerome Baker taken ahead of the Fiesta Bowl. Can't yet confirm either way if they're keeping the stripes from that uniform or changing back.
Give me grey stripes or give me death
"Let's go make some noise."
At least from the photo, the embedded buckeye leaves appear to be yellow. This is a very bad color, as we all know.
Make them subtly gray if you use them at all.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
Get the feeling Nike is starting to get Adidas-y.
Subtle changes, por favor.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Agreed Hove, but even if the in game jerseys have that Buckeye pattern in the numbers, I don't you'd be able to tell unless you're really up close and the light is hitting them just right.
Now if you could tell from a mile away then I'd like to sit down and speak to Phil Knight
Agreed. I did not notice the leaves on first look so they were subtle enough. Now I do notice them, but again, at first I missed them.
I like the really subtle changes. Makes it feel fresh without being gimmicky or doing massive changes.
The helmet stripe should be the pant stripe and the sleeve stripe. All other opinions different than mine are wrong.
Haha dillon i know some have that opinion. But the gray sleeve look better. Already got the stripe pattern on helmet and pants. Dont need it on jerseys.
Subtle changes are good. I definitely don't want to turn into Oregon or Maryland who have no uniform identity, but some subtle changes or alternates are definitely a nice addition.
How will cleats look this season? I seen on Jerome Baker's instagram he had a pair of what looked like all white lebron soldier 10's, like the ones they wore against the wolverines
"Ohio State's jerseys for spring ball featured Buckeye Leafs on the numbers. Keep an eye on this."
Sounds good to me.
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
I don't understand the need for changes and tweaks each year. I understand swapping out a uniform for a game or two as an alternate...but why can't the base uniform remain constant for more than one season? Over the top. I'd hate to think OSU was doing it simply to sell more jerseys, but that certainly could be it.
From what I remember Nike pays OSU in the contract and Nike pockets jersey sales. If OSU makes additional money it's in margin in stadium sales like any Buckeye Corner would make.
It's hard to take much from a single graphic. That's a nice looking cover though
LOVE the block O on the neck line. I'd like to see a matte gray helmet. It is scarlet and gray, right?
"Toughness is a choice."
The cannonball helmets so many seemed to hate for the Michigan game were flat gray. Flat gray will be too dark for many people's tastes. IMO i thought the combo for the Michigan game was sweet
They were actually black.
The "matte black cannonball" helmet actually appears to be charcoal gray-- in layman's terms-- dull black.
It's not to be confused with the shiny true black of say an Iowa helmet.
Correct. It was matte black with a popcorn paint texture, to be specific. Iowa uses a glossy finish.
Mahalo, Andrew, that's still black, right?
I believe the color was calles "Cannonball Gray". A Matte Gray isn't far off, example https://i2.wp.com/www.carnewschina.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/ferrar...
The TTUN game combo was excellent for one game a year. Paints can vary so much that one teams Flat Gray may look too dark, but it could easily be lightened up to get the desired color. I'd like to see a "Flat Pearl/Metallic Gray" for one game.
The Buckeye leaves in the numbers look, excuse me, a little feminine. But our uni's will never look as bad as those Jumpman all white uniforms of ttun last year. My god were those ugly.
Newcomerstown Trojans. Between Woody and Beaver.
Oui. The sophisticated subtleties of a Parisian fashion designer is precisely what the hoi polloi of football fans demand. Entre nous, mademoiselle, which do your prefer? Yves St. Laurent? or Givenchy?
Anybody know where we can purchase the 2017 media guide?

I believe that they stopped selling printed versions.

Love the big numbers on the jerseys, to include the shoulders.
Let's hope that Nike and the OSU fashionistas bring back the cannonball helmet, aka the "lead head," along with the striped retro jersey, which combo was affectionately dubbed by Fox Sports as the ugliest uniform of the season.
Here are the nine steps to accepting the cannonball retro uniform, or "Satan doodling with coal on your cornea."
Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall. (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
The buckeye leaf imprint on the numbers just doesn't look that great to me. Looking back at some of those old pictures of guys like Eddie, I can't imagine seeing the big 27 with that design. The picture below would not look as crisp and clean. The numbers would look more like paisley.
I would rather like to see a design with a buckeye image at the the top of the stripe on the pants. Basically the same as the helmet sticker but in a larger diameter that would be proportional to the width of the pant stripe. Something around a 3.5" - 4.0" diameter.
I don't know how it would look but I would like to see a mock-up. Okay Nike, I'll need to see that in home and away uniforms and in then another set with playoff enhancements.
holy shit so hype tim beck isn't going to be back
So they used the jerseys with the leafs in spring ball, does that include the spring game? If so I don't remember anyone bitching about the numbers on the uniforms from that day.
whatever they wear just......WIN!!
I couldn't agree more. I don't understand the vitriol the slightest change to the uniform brings. It's not like they're taking the field in orange and black. It is still an obvious Ohio State Buckeye football uniform. People see the slightest change and think it's a travesty, like difference in the shape of the taillights on 64 and 65 mustangs makes the car entirely different...
So they removed the buckeye leaves from the collar, so they changed the sleeve stripe, so they wore all black one game. The claim is that recruits dig that stuff. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, and it leads to championships...wear pink and purple dots for all I care.
On second thought, I might care about a departure that big...
Buckeye Leafs in the numbers....yes please!
IMO a buckeye leaf has to be earned to be on the uniform.....therefore we don't need a ton of em embedded in the numbers....I will say though, I liked the ones stitched on the back of the jersey/neck because those represented championships....then they go an do away with that and change it to "BUCKEYES". Bring back Nati jerseys full time.....however, you can make the shoulder numbers black cuz that's FIRE ! I do have to add, as a fan of the wider shoulder stripes with the gray in them it's not because "We need gray in the uniform" as so many people yell, it's because they are friggin sweet.....remember folks we have gray/silver in the uniform regardless, look at the pants and helmet, there's gray!
"I don't want to be around average, why be around average!" -UFM
The Black buckets with the metallic red leafs were perfection. Would love to see those every year for the Penn State game.
