Coach Holt and staff are on a mission. Really hoping we can get Hunter and Cohill locked up. I'm sure bringing Penn in will help with perspective PG prospects for years to come and getting some of the top Ohio kids to join the program.
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
Thanks Tim for this. I love the football version and am so happy we have a basketball version. Let's hope Holtmann stays hot!
Love it or leave it!
A basketball recruiting Hot Board...
The offseason is the longest season.
MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS
Coach Holt has been killling it so far on the crootin trail. He's been mending those relationships and he's really starting to turn some heads out there.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
I don't know that there were relationships to be mended necessarily. It seems more of a case of lack of visibility with a number of players and programs.
Rumor is Thad and the AAU coaches did not get along. I assume that is what is being alluded to.
Got it. Thank you.
Kirok said it best...
Just one of the reasons we've lost recruiting battles the last few years.
It's hard to fault Thad for that. AAU coaches sometimes border on the verge of acting as agents for some high school players.
Unfortunately, it's hard to recruit high school basketball players and retain your scruples.
Sorry recruiting is on the HC, you are just making excuses. If AAU wasn't working go another route. I really think Thads health issues were the crux of the problem, unfortunately. Candy coat it all you want.
Hunter, Cohill, Ayala and a PF/C would be a great class. Really liking what this staff has done in such a short time
Adding Ayala to the 2017 class with a reclassification would make this one great too. I'd love to see that happen.
Keep the basketball content coming - this is a great breakdown. I suspect, given the two recent commits, if the Buckeyes are fortunate to land Cohill and Hunter, the coaching staff may turn their attention to bringing in a defensive-minded big, with Kaleb Wesson and Micah Potter being more skilled on the offensive side.
I think this is probably their plan of attack. Cohill and Hunter first and then there absolutely will be a big guy in this class. It's just unclear right now who that might be.
there absolutely will be a big guy in this class.
Yes, OSU needs guards. And there's is also a glaring need at Center. There must be depth at that position too.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
Right now I doubt we can expect Holtman to play 2 bigs together (i.e., Wesson and Potter), even if the situation might otherwise call for it (or the fit is better at PF), because he needs to save them in the event of foul trouble, and even so, if you up against a team willing and able to pound it inside, the two of them may not be enough. An injury there could be devastating to chances for success. Center is indeed a glaring need.
Like this info please keep it coming! Let's get basketball back on the court!
Good stuff. Keep it coming Tim! Thanks
16-2 is SWEET!
"July is the most important month in college basketball recruiting and it's officially go-time for Holtmann in his first year leading the Buckeyes."
He's pounding the pavement right now actually.

i don't notice any true centers on the list, anyone to look out for? My understanding, Wesson is our only true center on the roster. I like Potter's skillset, just not sure what happens if Wesson gets in foul trouble
I posted it in another forum but I hope they pursue Oscar Tshiebwe. He is a 2019 recruit and an athletic freak, 6'10 with unlimited bounce. Raw offensively but a true junkyard dawg that would pair nicely alongside our current bigs in Wesson and Potter. Another option could be Oscar's high school teammate 2018 Flo Thamba.
Abba Lawal is a Ohio 2019 prospect that will be evaluated. Those aren't names I've seen necessarily associated w Holtmann yet but just some kids I've had the chance to see play that I think have a chance. Time will tell who the staff decides to target at those positions in the very near future during this live evaluation period.

Tshiebwe reminds me quite a bit of Terrance Dials and his offensive game doesn't look too bad. He also plays some defense. I think you may have found a junk yard dog in the rough there. Hope the staff can take a look see.
I agree. Another name I will throw out there who plays w Indian Elite w Jeremiah Francis is 2019 7 footer Aristide Boya. Can't find much video or 24/7 profile on him.
Nice work and thanks for the reply. I really like where we are headed
I think Tshiebwe is pretty solid with WVU, unfortunately.
I don't think Potter is going to spend any significant amount of time at a position that is not center. He isn't quick enough to guard most 4's.
Been two whole days since our last high quality commitment. Holtmann and company sitting on their hands.
Love the Buckeyes
Do not think his priority is Ayala. Its 2018.
But still Ayala would be nice.
Still need guards, so I expect they're still prioritizing Ayala.
Sure ain't a lotta big fellers on that list. I realize we need guards but someone's gotta rebound. Otherwise, opposing coaches are going to be taking old Shooter Flatch's advice to Norman Dale before the Cedar Knob game: "They got no head toppers. Ohio State? A bunch of mites. Run you off the boards. You got to squeeze 'em back in the paint. Make 'em chuck it from the cheap seats."

I appreciate this information. Thrilled that the new staff is doing good things. We are on a great path. A big guy for strong depth will will hopefully be a target.
I would love to get Ayala in this class, but I am not sure what the plan is.
2018 I would love Cohill, Hunter, Watson and a big in 2018...especially if we get Ayala in 2017.
