Ajskiba23 in the other thread said Jaiden Woodbey is at OU visiting, which obviously is a pretty big bummer considering all the hoopla about him decommitting and all that. There was that video on Rivals about a close friend/teammate of his saying he thinks Jaiden will decommit soon. If he does, well.. put the full court press on Houston Griffith/Tyreke Johnson.
To cover myself:
Saw Birm put up that he must be in Oklahoma (referencing the tweet), I forwarded the information here.
It appears me and Birm both found out tonight you can edit your twitter location (Now that I know it's possible, I WILL use this to my advantage in my personal life very soon).
Sorry for any confusion.
Before it gets brought up, yes Jaiden Woodbey did tweet something out and it said he is in Oklahoma. He's a game-player so it wouldn't surprise me if he manually edited the location of the tweet.
Edit: It got brought up 48 seconds before this post.
Oklahoma? Oh my. Has anyone told him what happens to DBs at that place?
OU db's be
Jack Tatum hates targeting penalties.
Just like in his header image the two runners in the background are from Oklahoma. Not a coincidence. I would have fun as a teenager too watching countless people react so significantly with ever minor tweet or edit.
Like Andrew has said, it will be great if he stays but we will be fine if he leaves.

And the followup tweet:
I'm in California, please stop ... like seriously, stop it ...
— J-DUB (@JaidenWoodbey6) June 15, 2017
I can now rest easy tonight knowing where a random 17 year old is currently located.
Oklahoma fans in his mentions look like crazed stalkers. LOL. Could've been him and his buddy just messing with people. A reporter talked to him and confirmed he was in California.
"The future is bright at Ohio State."
"Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends"
Somebody needs to show him the 3 DB's that OSU had drafted in the 1st round and the 4 TD's OU DB's gave up to Noah Brown... shouldn't even be a debate.
Attention seeker changes location of tweet knowing it will get attention; gets mad about said attention

I tried bum juice once, it was bitterly disappointing.
Edited the post thanks BJIB

Even if he does commit to OU/flip there.. I would imagine his recruitment is still far from over. Also don't think he would have a spot left in the class if he wanted to re commit to OSU, no matter how big time you are. Buckeye nation wants kids that want to be here.
If he flips they wouldn't even go back after him IMO

The twists and turns of high schoolers
I mean, I don't think anyone really thinks it's funny but him. Acting like Ohio State needs him. Would be great if he stayed committed, but if he decommits, he just gets replaced with someone equal in talent or better. It's his choice so it's probably just better if he quits horsing around and makes up his mind.
Was he pranking OSU? I'm completely lost on what's going down lol
When you have location enabled on your tweets, the city and state shows up when you send something. When he sent that tweet out tonight, it just said "Oklahoma." No city was listed like it usually is, so I think he manually entered it just to get a reaction – whether it be from Ohio State, Oklahoma, or both.
He told the Oklahoma writer that he has no idea how it happened but I'm calling BS on that one.
So awesome that you writers stick together. Nothing like the Inside Scoop in enemy territory.
Not loving Woodbey too much as I've said before. I know he's just a kid but he just screams attention seeker. And let me preface this by saying totally in support for kids that have committed to continue taking visits. But playing games like this are pretty dumb to me. Rather move on at this point and go with someone else.
so everyone wants to forget jackson Carman is an attention seeker? or does living in ohio get him a pass
Not being committed gives him leeway...but I don't recall everyone exactly giving him a pass.
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
Rather move on at this point and go with someone else.

Andrew, I need to know. Is it pronounced Wood-Bay or Wood-Bee?
Not Andrew, but I understand it to be Wood-Bee.
While on the subject, how do you pronounce Teradja?
That would be correct.
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
I think they accepted Woodbey's commit a little too soon. I'm thinking he's the type of kid who needed to go through the process longer and get his fill of the spotlight; seems like he wants more attention than he's been given to to this point.
No way this kid sticks with us. Time to move on and find a better fit w/o the drama.
Ryan Day the goat....and yes I pee on ttun all the time.
I'll circle back when he decommits and you can +1 me.
Predicting the kid to decommit isn't saying anything profound.
you are getting dvs (not from me) because you want to cut bait on a 17 year old for being a 17 year old.
You took that and went 180 with it. At some point, it becomes a distraction and the coaching staff gets involved.
I'll +1 you right now. I swear I'll do it
much more interested in Woodbey's 40 time (4.85 at his Opening regional) than his twitter game. guessing the coaches might be as well.
So you're saying Joey Bosa (4.88) is fast enough to be a DB? That would be pretty interesting
So you're saying joey bosa COULDNT be a DB?!?!?
i disagree. Bosa island bro. He would lock it down!!
He would just pick up the WR and nonchalantly carry them out of bounds. 0% completion percentage against.
Kitties aren't supposed to smell like cigarettes, they're supposed to smell like kitties.
Yikes, that is concerning. Not a high ceiling with that kind of speed.
I'll take Houston Griffith now over him instead. Asking for drama is way different than what Shaun Wade did last year
Nicholas l Ernst
Isn't one a safety and the other a CB?
A lot of people think Griffith is a future safety.. and I honestly just really want him in this class
I think you gotta put to Woodbey at this point: He's either in or out. We have too many guys on the DB board to be holding spots for players who aren't really committed.
And I don't mean that as a knock on Woodbey. He's perfectly free to look around. I just think Ohio State might be better off moving on if he's looking around.
I'm willing to put some pebbles on the line that Woodbey is out of this class come NSD, whether that be his decision, or the staffs... And stop comparing this to the Shaun Wade situation. Wade never talked, visited a couple places and made sure the staff was aware of his actions the entire time. Woodbey is simply playing the game, and he has that right, but we know how the staff feels about these types of recruitments.
Free article up by Gleitman on 247 about Ruckert. Nothing earth shattering but is down to OSU, TTUN, ND and Wisco. Expects to release a Bleacher Report commitment video on Twitter at some point this summer.
I should add that the most positive part about the article was the way Ruckert spoke about the Buckeyes compared to the other three schools. Seemed somewhat revealing.
This one is Birm's old "eat his shoe" territory or Andrew's new Grinch smile.

Fields of Dreams
NEW UPDATE FOR PART VI
Lots of folks on here looking for Woodbey to lose that 5th star. Glad to see BRR is keeping it 100.
"I don't think you necessarily have to get a trophy to be a winner." - Nick Saban 1/2/15.
Carmen Jackson isn't and will never be a 4 star. He is a 5 star, all world, must have tackle, and the #1 player on our board. And I hope is already a silent commit.
Once Carman commits 1994 will have to reassess. Buckeye Recruiting Rankings can be fickle at times.
Buckeye Recruiting Rankings are the most accurate in the game. No bias at all. If Carman wants that fifth star, he's going to have to earn it.
Man, you've been killing this as the recruiting director for BRR. Never before have I seen such a well thought-out recruiting rankings
Carmen Jackson isn't going to OSU. Jackson Carman might though. when he pulls the trigger i suspect he'll jump up in the BRR
Exactly why I brought you on as my assistant. Good work BROTHA
Some people say distinctions matter. Other say, "what's the difference?"
Sports Illustrated must be following the BRR on this one:
The Buckeyes are also poised to nab Ohio’s highest-rated player, four-star offensive tackle Jackson Carman...
I'm starting to attract some big name sponsors so to answer your question below there will be a BRR camp later this summer. Streaming live on elevenwarriors.com
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
There are times where the worst thing that can be spread is misinformation
Hey Bucknut, I hear the BRR is going to start holding camps for all those studs. Are the rumors true?
Hey mr. Bucknut I was wondering if I could be a crystal ball predictor for your brr service. I promise I won't be bias towards osu (I promise nothing). I have done a ton of research and have determined that the best way to become a "recruiting expert" is to wait for the Andrews to put in a crystal and then immediately follow it with my own. I call it the van ooyen theorem.
Everyone calm down about Woodbey. He's still committed and has stated he's committed. Even if he does visit, that's his right to do so. He is just having fun and you guys getting mad about a 17 year old kid doing that and saying you want him out because of that is rediculous. He's an amazing talent and I think he will be around the whole way. He's done nothing but come off as a good kid and has helped recruit for us.
It's mindblowing how many people forget what jagaloons they were at 17 years old. Difference is there wasn't internet for (most) of them when they were that age and definitely no twitter, facebook, etc.
I was more of a jagaswan myself.
Only speaks in swear_trek gifs
Exactly. Me and my buddies personally were idiots. I look back now and shake my head but it's just how most high schoolers are. You can't get mad at them for just messing with people on twitter. I mean TPing houses and egging and messing with other schools stuff the week of a rivalry game. Even senior prank. It was all hoolagan stuff.
Agreed 100%. Hell, I'd likely have been thrown out of my high school if everyone had camera phones back then. Thank GOD that shit didn't exist when i was in school.
It's pretty simple: if he is trolling reporters, fans - people can be annoyed but that's hardly a huge deal.
If he starts trolling Urban Meyer and the coaches, then that will take care of itself.
Just saw this last night. It looks like an Oklahoma fan was posing as an OSU fan to make us look bad. All his other tweets are to Texas fans and he even messaged Tom Herman. You can check his account out. A few people called him out including another OK fan. Man, are they desperate and pathetic!
The best way to get rid of trolls is to not acknowledge trolls. If I remember right, you're the one who made the Shawn Martin thread. You can be a troll hunter, just don't give them the attention they don't deserve.
I'm working on it. LOL. Hopefully we don't have any OSU fans posing as Oklahoma fans.

Looks like he will keep his 5th star in the BRR's. Good choice. All the stalker OU fans probably freaked him out.
UFM banned him from Twitter?
Looking like that's the case.
While I doubt that, let's say he did and Woodbey is listening. That would indicate he's not flipping.
I just noticed the date he said he would return to twitter is the day of the Mayweather fight. You have to live tweet during that right? LOL.
Man, this new Land Of 10 Forum is really testing my loyalty. I love Birm, and felt good reading both Dotting The Eyes and The Hurry Up daily, but I'm refusing to sign up for the Lo10 forums on loyalty to 11W. It just feels traitorous.
Just use both. I'll never leave 11W under any circumstance for any other site, it's the best site for any and all things OSU related in my opinion. The only thing I wish they would do is have a system where threads with a lot of comments only load the 50 most recent comments and the older ones have to be clicked to loaded. That way we don't have to keep making part 2,3,4 etc.
That... actually makes total sense. People will lose upvotes though because people might be late to the party and not feel like clicking for the old ones.
Or at least have an option to sort the comments.
I think it'd be easy to just maybe add a drop down bar for the responses to a select comment. A lot of the threads get filled with responses to a few comments. So adding the drop down option might help. Or reversing the comments. Newest on top or something like that.
The UI for the forums on Land of 10 are horrible. Feels like I'm playing on a Nintendo GameCube when I'm used to a PS4 or Xbox One. Not sure how it is on a desktop but the navigation aspects definitely need some work right now it's clunky at best.
My username is too long...just shows 11 warriors superiority
I just talked to her last week. She was gonna make a pot for me.
Would you recommend I land often?
Just announced Army All American Jeremy Ruckert is set for a summer B/R commitment announcement video and final 4 of tOSU, um, Wisky, Fighing Brian Kellys per 247
The offseason is the longest season.
It looked like he had the most to say about us which is a good sign. Really liked how we are recruiting everyone in his family.
Kurelic stated that Ohio State leads for Solomon Tuliaupupu going into his visit this weekend. Not concerned with going far away from home or the depth chart. USC a close 2nd
That's huge. Hopefully his visit this weekend is a home run.
Will be huge to help show the parents it will be okay to let him go across country for school. I think Solomon is convinced and we lead for him. Now we just need to be the leader in the parents eyes.
Would be interesting if they took both him and Pope. Seems like the room is very tight in this class and 4 LBs might be one too many. Hard to pass either of these guys up though.
All our insiders say Pope is in just a matter of when he announces at this point. Solomon has said he doesn't care about how many LB's are in his class. His top 2 are us and USC and USC already has 3 LB's committed. Numbers don't matter to him.
Might matter to OSU though. Squeezing potentially 4 LBs with this potential DL haul with needs elsewhere...not easy
It can happen. Andrew mentioned that they would find room for both. There's no way you say no to Solomon.
We will probably lose all 3 starters and may see some attrition beyond that.
Per Birm it doesn't seem like Tuliaupupu is going to make it this weekend.
The world is yours
I'm always confused by the number of times recruits have "transportation issues."
Have you ever gone from cali to Ohio?
its a PITA and expensive.
Not often, but when I have, it involves a confirmed flight more than two days prior.
I could totally understand if you're trying to figure out a car ride for a drive 1-8 hours away.
Pretty sure I saw that he was at UGA (or somewhere east of the Mississippi) today for a camp
He was at UGA for a camp today, was planning on heading to Columbus after Georgia but travel plans didnt work out as expected .
Keep in mind that Chatfield is also considered a borderline LB
Two more recent crystal balls for Blue Smith from Tom Loy and a Kentucky guy - we need a BOOM!
Go Bucks, Deacs, Panthers, Braves
I think a Kentucky guy gave you a DV.
Ryan Timmons imo.
I want a fall Saturday in Ohio Stadium..
Xavier Peters' Top 10 doesn't include OSU. Not too much of a surprise but newsworthy nonetheless.
East Coast living with Ohio roots
Xaivier Peters dropped top ten w/o OSU on it but still has bama... IF that is commitable I think it's huge that OSU is willing to let him go, kinda gauges the state of the program IMO
He has grade issues. He may very well have been part of the class if his grades were in order.
I've heard that rationale previously as well. My question is how can Ohio State be eliminated from the mix due to Clearinghouse issues when other schools are not? Peters is still considering USC (a private school) and their academic standards are quite high. I'm not criticizing Grisle I'm simply confused on how it works.
Most of these kids put schools on there top 5/10 or whatever that has offered them but still wouldn't take them, to sweeten up their top schools list.
I am pretty sure it is a luxury we are afforded right now......I believe we are able to be choosy with the highest of character players. I am sure they could figure out a way to get him in but we don't have to...
No way that is committable.

Thanks for embedding Osu992! For some reason it's a struggle on mobile for me on this site.
2) setting browser to desktop mode
3) nimble fingers, patience, screen real estate
Yeah I'm an is iOS guy even on desktop. Run a lot of electronics in my place through a voice activated UI. Own too many synchronized iOS devices to make that switch.
4* NC DT Rick Sandidge currently on campus and visiting this weekend.
He'd be an interesting pickup. He's blownup some of these camps. True 1-technique DT.
Team Vapor Speed for The Opening has the following commits and targets:
Jaelen Gill, Teradja Mitchell, Josh Proctor, Jaiden Woodbey, Taron Vincent, Andrew Chatfield and Brenton Cox
Jackson Carman, Anthony Cook, Solomon Tuliaupupu
There are a few other targets, but those three are the most realistic.
We got two future OSU LBs on Vapor Speed
— (@WhosThatNumber7) June 16, 2017
— Solomon Tuliaupupu (@nokeakua) June 16, 2017
Tuliapupu's tweet was a reply to Mitchell's, since it might not be obvious to those who don't twitter
Not only is it not obvious to me but I also don't understand the bacon emoji. LOL
Don't worry. Teradja will bring it home for you.
Forgot to include 2019 5 star OT DeVontae Dobbs on the list of targets
Also forgot Sevyn Banks in the list of commits...been a long day
Bumjuice this is exciting. I could see us conceivably getting 9-11 of these kids on Vapor. It could help lock in Woodbey being on Team Buckeye. I feel Carman is in. This could help fortify our efforts with Cook and keep us with a better chance at PUPU. Blue Smith and Babb are both on a team so that helps, Parsons is by himself and I'm not sure what team Ruckert is on. Hopefully Andrew will do a story on the teams and we can do an open thread when the Opening rolls around too.
Ruckert and Tyreke Smith are teammates with like the 3 scUM commits that made it, on the team with commits/leans to the LA schools. Zach Harrison and K'Vaughan Pope are also on Blue and Babb's team.
I think we are in good shape with Ruckert and Tyreke Smith so that doesn't concern me as much. But yea that's good that Harrison and Pope are both with Blue and Babb. Harrison might be our most important recruit in 2019.
Not entirely related, but I wanted to throw out that Andrew E. is only about 3 points away from passing Steve Wiltfong (247's recruiting director) for the top spot on the expert rankings on 247. If he ends up beating him for the top spot, that will be the first time he hasnt had first place since 2014 when the Crystal Ball was implemented and they started doing expert rankings. Pretty impressive for someone who is just a troll
Probably all from copying Tom Lot's picks like the Miami fan said
Andrew has simply done fantastic work- is forthcoming without being to revealing.
SIAP but Tyreke Smith is visiting this weekend
Mike Farrell over at Rivals in a recent article said Tyreke reminds him of former 5* Da'Shawn Hand who's now at Bama.
"Tyreke reminds him of former 5* Da'Shawn Hand"
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Get well soon Mrs.Naut 6-0 > 3-6.
I wouldn't rule out amon st brown if we get him on campus
I mean, shit, i honestly wouldn't count anyone out who visits us at this point. I think we are just at that level at this point
He'd be an amazing pull. Like his tape better than any receiver but Babb. Brother is at Notre Dame, so distance doesn't seem to be a factor for the family .
I know urban had previously stated that he wanted to recruit more Ohio players. However, I realistically don't see how we will be taking more than 5 Ohio kids this recruiting cycle with the nationwide reach Urban has. We already have Gant and Gill. And I would expect Carman, and both Smiths to commit at some point. Other than those 5 I don't think we take any other Ohio kids. I don't think we have room for Hawkins, Oates, or Peters. Does anybody else see anyone from Ohio that we might take.
Who knows how it would have all played out, but grade issues for both Thomas and Peters seem like they became huge roadblocks in their recruitments. Unfortunate, but not unfair.
thomas was behind teague regardless of grades
Alex Gleitman reporting that Matthew Jones just committed:
BREAKING: #Buckeyes land commitment from 4-star OL/DL Matthew Jones @GrindTime55 https://t.co/sWH2Zo4XDw (FREE) @SWiltfong247 @Bucknuts247
— Alex Gleitman (@alexgleitman) June 17, 2017
First boom of the day!! OL/DL Matthew Jones has committed to the good guys per Alex Gleitman on Twitter:
Edit: Reuben beat me to it by a minute lol
And then Gleitman tweets out that he hasn't committed yet and we're still on boom watch. Lol this sounds like the Jalyn Holmes fiasco all over again with that site.
Lol that's before my time, explain
Holmes told the reporters he was a silent commit and he was going to make it public later that week. Bucknuts reported that he committed which understandably upset him. Birm at the time explained it to us.
"I'm not going to lie. We're anxious to be a part of a matchup like that. It's two states that love the game of football." -Jim Tressel
Yeah what InTress said. The Holmes family was extremely upset with Bucknuts for that one. They've done some really crappy stuff in the past too. If anyone remembers they reported Jamel Turner was dead when he wasn't. They've come very close to losing their privileges/credentials inside the WHAC so this shouldn't be surprising. My fav part was when Biddle disguised himself as a poster named spongeworthy and was posting how Biddle was doing a great job reporting.
I didn't hear about the Biddle thing. That is pretty sad.
I didn't hear that either. That's pretty lame if true.
It's extremely lame and he does the same thing with a twitter account. Pathetic IYAM.
There is a guy who calls himself spongeworthy on twitter and he makes fun of Biddle. @Spongeworthy247
Plot twist. @Spongeworthy247 is Ben van Ooyen.
Ben van Ooyen is Dutch for "the ninth route."
Houston Griffith with a run of CB's to FSU. I know Andrew said he was about 5th on tOSU's board but it would be kind of surprising if he left the Midwest.
He goes to img now so not so surprising.
i just hope the staff is right with cook and Campbell.
Cook, Campbell and surtain to replace banks
Really feel like people are underselling Banks. He missed all of last season and still got an invite to the opening. That doesn't happen very often if ever. Coombs saw him workout in person and if he wants him in this class then we should be excited about that.
I agree. His film looks legit and I think he is long and athletic. He reminds me of Shaun Wade.
Agree with both of you. 10 months after ACL surgery he posted the 9th highest testing numbers at The Opening regionals.
I have no issue with Banks and would have no problem with in this class but you would take those three ahead of him for sure at this point
He's just not high enough on the CB board at the moment, and we already have two safeties committed. Only way I could see him in the class is if we lose a safety or strike out on 2 of the 3 of Cook, Campbell, and Surtain jr.
BOOM JONES IS IN
So we have heard that Jones is likely to play on the O-Line. He has been talked about OG or OC. Any idea how this might impact Verdis Brown? That is yet another nasty slob that I'd love to see us land. My Dream haul:
LT - Carman
OG - Jones
OC - Brown
OG - Salyer
RT - Wray
We'll probably land Scruggs and Brown and be finished with the OL.
Ive never understood why we are wanting to land Brown, Scruggs & Jones. Thats 3 interior guys with possibly 3 landed last year (Meyers, Davis & Munford) & 5 more guards in 2016 (Jordan, Wohlabaugh, Cupp, Gerald & Pridgeon)
we lack the depth and proven players at Tackle, so i figured we would keep Davis, Meyers or Munford at Tackle, bring in Wray, Carman & another tackle or 2 instead of the interior guys.
Myers can still play tackle, Munford IS a tackle. Tyler Gerald was a tackle too, and Pridgeon can still play tackle. 3 tackles would be nice but getting just Wray and Carman for 2018 is more than enough.
myers is not going to be a tackle,Gerald will most likely never play and munford will most likely only play guard. Pridgeon is the only one out of the 4 that is a true tackle.
Tyler Gerald will certainly never play here. As he's not with the team anymore.
MoneyMike is gonna be soooooo mad now that you told him that
Did Gerald lose his five stars in the BRR?
naw i'm good
How do you know he won't play tackle?
Because he quit football..
My question was about Josh Myers. I still think he has an opportunity to play right tackle in the future.
Yeah there is no reason he can't play RT eventually
Yeah, you might be creating a problem where there isn't one. Plus, 2 OT spots and 3 interior lineman spots with how our staff likes to transition guards to center means more guards overall.
And Carman. (I know you are probably assuming he is a given, as am I).
More realistic scenario with the 2017 & 2018 recruiting classes:
LT- Jackson Carman
RT- Max Wray
LG- Josh Meyers
C- Matthew Jones
RG- Wyatt Davis
Realistically I would honestly be complrtely fine with Wray, Jones, land Carman and go after instate tackle Darian Kinnard or Rasheed Walker and continue to go after Nicholas Petit-Frere (national tackle w/OSU in top 3) and lock down the OLine recruiting for this class. Need more guys on the edges than the interior.
I wouldnt continue to go after Verdis Brown or Fredrick Scruggs because numbers will be tight come NSD with all these other higher ranked guys at other positions of need UNLESS they plan on using Matt Jones along the DLine (where I think he needs to be).
I heard from a Michigan insider that Petit Frere is a MSU silent commit.
I'll take Nicholas "Little Brother".
This comment should have 100 up votes. Well done sir.
Outside of Michael Jordan and Billy Price (who's at C now) there's not a single OL on the roster who has proven anything at G. Did people forget what happened to Knox when he had to go into the game? We don't have a lot of depth across the OL as a whole. That whole unit needs a talent infusion across the board.
I mean the same can be said for the receivers as well. I think the interior of the OL is just fine from a depth perspective, I believe guys like Knox and Burrell can and will make significant leaps. It's the tackle depth that's horrible, if Jamarco or Isaiah Prince go down, we are gonna struggle.
2018 WR LChristian Blue Smith on Ohio State: Its the place to be https://t.co/xB1KN2cumb
— Ben Axelrod (@BenAxelrod) June 17, 2017
Why isn't he committed ?
Only a few more weeks, you can tell he's all but locked up to the good guys. I think the summer is going to be good to OSU. Im expecting some more commitments from Blue Smith, Ruckert, Tyreke Smith, Babb. Should be fun.
And Pope for good measure.
So many names, I can't even keep track.
This is a great class but I am a little worried about the speed of the LBs. Gant 4.84, Chatfield 4.9, Pope(sounds like he's in) 4.9, Mitchell 5+. That's extremely slow compared to current and recent succesful Ohio State linebackers. You don't have to be Lee or Shazier fast to be a good LB but even McMillan ran a 4.61 and some thought his speed was a liability.
Per 247 Gant's 40 time is 4.60, per ESPN Pope's 40 time is 4.72. Those were the first places I found a time when searching for each player, they aren't cherrypicked. For Mitchell, he admitted he showed up to the Opening Regional overweight when he ran the 5.01, but still got open and I looked for another time, and per a Bleacher Report article when he committed, he can run a 4.69 second 40.
Wasn't there also some talk that he was banged up a little when he ran as well, but still insisted on competing and giving things ago despite not being 100% physically? I could have imagined it, but I'm thinking I saw some talk of that as well.
"Football is, after all, a wonderful way to get rid of your aggressions without going to jail for it." Woody Hayes
247 had gant at a 4.84 and pope at a 4.72
Had as in when? 247 has Gant running a 4.60 in his profile.
at the opening he ran a 4.84 the 4.60 is wrong
There are two K'vaughn Pope profiles on ESPN for the same guy, one says 4.72 and the other 4.96. Per ESPN Gant's time is 4.84.
I try to only go by nike sparq or opening 40 times because they are laser timed. HS forty times are widely (and wildly) exaggerated when they are hand timed.
Burflict ran a 5.01 at the combine, If the staff wants him they're not worried about it
This. Also, hasn't seemed to have been an issue for him...

— Pro Football Focus (@PFF) June 13, 2017
Oh and he ran a 5.09, thanks Wiki
I agree that a slow 40 doesn't guarantee a player can't be great it still is less likely. I'm sure he'll be faster once he gets in the MickDojo but it's just the trend in LB recruiting this year that has me asking questions. I still wonder if Isaiah Pryor and Brendon white will ultimately become walkout lbs.
A player can increase his 40 time with the right conditioning, I wouldn't worry one bit about what a few high school LB's 40 times are before they've even hit college. It's THE most overrated measurable.
Givler again confirmed what both Andrews and Birm think and that's K'Vaughan Pope being the next commit. Could happen any day and definitely within the next 2 weeks. Also said our staff likes Harris but he is more of a WILL/MIke LB and we already have Gant (WILL) and Mitchell (Mike) in this class. Said the staff sees Pope as a walk-out LB ala Baker/Lee. Said the whole Pope grades thing brought up is bs and one quarter of grades isn't going to impact whether a kid is a take or not. It was Urban being thorough to see if Harris could blow the staff away with his workout and they weren't going to take a commit with Harris not a campus yet to do that. So we are on boom watch for the next 2 weeks it looks like with Pope.
Below is a tweet from Sevyn Banks putting in work this offseason. Think this kid will be a good one for us. Kinda hard to tell but I think that's Coombs in some parts of the vid working him out. If someone could embed for me (iOS probs) it would be much appreciated thanks!
How does he do that with his feet?? We got a good one.

Another day, another 5 star.
String of CBs for Rondale Moore to Texas. There goes Herman beating Urban
Texas & Herman going to have one heck of a WR haul with most likely landing Rondale Moore, Brennan Eagles, Al'vonte Woodard, Jaylen Waddle with Justin Watkins already committed
Think Watkins has been looking around.
it looks like he will flip to bama
Kid might be bouncing from his second commitment? Wow. Starting to remind me of Jermaine Eskridge now.
wasnt he committed to FSU or Bama already?
I know the Buckeyes are out on him but was somewhat surprised at the flood of Oklahoma crystal balls for Tavion Thomas today. Would not be a bad landing spot at all for him.
Low academics, desperate for RB depth.
Just saw on one of the Oklahoma boards that Tavion Thomas committed to OU. FWIW.

Is the recent drought of information/updates on Parsons and Anthony Cook unsettling to anyone other than me? Parsons appears to enjoying the process while visiting Alabama, Nebraska, and Penn State (reportedly multiple trips). He didn't camp at OSU or visit from what I can ascertain. Thoughts?
Then again, there's been nothing in regards to other schools, aside from Parsons visiting Nebraska. Just been status quo.
Birm did say about a week ago that he felt better about tyson campbell to osu than Anthony cook
Cook is expected to visit Columbus next month and I would imagine we will see Parsons at FNL. Cook doesn't really talk much and doesn't throw out a ton of tweets per day, he's a fairly silent kid. Parsons is visiting Nebraska this weekend but in the end not many expect him to end up too far from home.
IMO, as things stand now, we have the better shot with Cook. Mainly due to no off the field incidents in the past and that Parsons recruitment really hasn't started yet. Right now Micah is just having fun with the process and would expect some craziness along the way. As for Cook everything I have read indicates most consider us the leader.
Good stuff Spooner. Thanks a ton for your insight.
Per Twitter, Parsons is scheduled to be in Alabama July 15-17. He will name his Top 5 by end of summer.
Been rumors that the crowd he keeps aren't the best type of people to be hanging around with. Wonder if character issues may come into play.
At Nebraska's Friday Night Lights, obviously copied from our FNL, Parsons showed his athleticism by beating DB Christian Tutt on a go route. FREAK!

Kurelic crystal ball to the good guys for Babb. Would love to sew that one up.
Another one from Warren. Nice.
Another daring pick from Kurelic.
247 did a re-rank of their QB's after the shorts and t-shirt circuit, Jones moved down slightly losing his 5th star for the 2nd time in about 6 months.
I'm convinced 247 exaggerates their rankings so the composite will be closer to what they like
I don't follow. What do you mean by exaggerate?
I'm pretty sure they mean if they think a guy should be ranked 100 in the country but all the other services think he is top 10 then they rank him 200 so the composite is closer to 100.
I doubt they do this though. After the draft they compare the players to their rankings to see how their experts do.
As of this second they also have Jackson Carman, OT from Fairfield, OH ranked 12 and Jack Carman, OT from Fairfield, OH ranked 19. Maybe we can get both of them. Bookend the Oline with Jack(son) Carmans.
Jack doesn't even have any offers! We gotta get on this guy, stat!
Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory... lasts forever.
Apparently it seems like 247 changes their rankings every month. Not worried about where they rank them right now I still believe 100% we end up with the #1 class this cycle.
IMG DL/DT Stephon Wynn announced his commitment date of July 1 and a top 3 that doesn't include the Buckeyes.
I know we were pushing for a visit a few months back which looks like won't happen now. That's fine with me IMO the other guy I want at DT is Nesta Silvera. He'd be the perfect compliment to Vincent.
Definitely want to see Silvera in this class.
I don't even remember him being talked about much, I don't think he was a realistic option. Hopefully we can get Nesta up here for a visit as I don't think we are a serious contender until he makes a visit, if he does.
Givler said after Vincent committed that Wynn was the highest rated DT on their board. This was back in March and they hadn't seen Silvera in person yet. I believe Nesta is at or near the top now though. Personally I think he's greatly underrated by rankings services.
Was listening to the BM5 the other day (believe it was yesterday), and the guys on their both said they think Silvera may be the most underrated prospect in the nation, atleast at Defensive Tackle anyway.
I agree. I was on 247 about 5-6 weeks ago and came acrossed Nesta, watched his film and instantly wanted him to magically be in OSU's class. My dad & talk recruiting all the time, told him to go check out his 247 profile & his highlight film. He called me back the next day and was like damn. Told him he will be a monster in college. He agreed & now he is both of our favorite uncommitted prospect.
heres to hoping he lands in columbus come NSD 2018.
He's committed to Miami. We are hoping to flip him.
Correct we are looking to flip Nesta. The good news is that he and Andrew Chatfield (another kid grossly underrated) are very close which should help us.
Hopefully they can bring the two American Heritage DBs with them *fingers crossed*
Urban just posted this video touting Columbus as the best college town for post-college opportunities:
Columbus, OHIO, NO better college city in America for opportunities!!! pic.twitter.com/E45Km7ipur
— Urban Meyer (@OSUCoachMeyer) June 22, 2017
Other programs have started copying Real Life Wednesdays, so this is clearly an attempt from the staff to keep their competitive edge with the "life after football" recruiting pitch. The list of top-recruiting programs that could put out a similar video about their town is pretty short. University of Texas? USC? Sure. But no one's going to confuse Tuscaloosa or Tallahassee for a booming economy.
there is nothing wrong with Tuscaloosa or Tallahasse.
He didn't say there was.
Those are nice towns, but neither compares to Columbus in terms of what Urban is referring to.
both of those towns have exactly what is talking about, especially Tallahasse
Yea man, I don't know if you have ever been to either T-town, but i have coworkers from Florida State and Alabama who have both said "I would have loved to stay there, but there wasn't a whole lot in the way of career opportunities" For the record I love both cities quite a bit having visited them over the past few years on various trips to the southeast.
and especially Tallahassee? according to national data (http://www.bestplaces.net/economy/city/florida/tallahassee) Tallahassee is a below average city economically, especially in future job growth compared to the rest of the US, a pretty crazy number considering the population migration to the south and southeast. Here is a page comparing the economies of Tallahassee and Columbus http://www.bestplaces.net/compare-cities/columbus_oh/tallahassee_fl/economy and here is one comparing the cost of living of both cities http://www.bestplaces.net/compare-cities/columbus_oh/tallahassee_fl/cost.... So what i am trying to say here is, Columbus is a city with a better economy, more jobs, better job growth prospects in the future, and is cheaper to live in than Tallahassee.
The answer may not be at the bottom of a bottle, but it never hurts to check.
City size (per Wikipedia): Tallahassee comes in at 126 with 191k (2016 estimate). Tuscaloosa isn't ranked. Googled Tuscaloosa's population. Their population is 96k (2014). Columbus is 860k (2016 estimate).
Best Big Cities to live in Time Magazine: There isn't a ranking but they listed 6 cities. Columbus is one of them. Tallahassee and Tuscaloosa aren't.
Best Cities For Young Professionals in Forbes: Columbus comes in 7th. Neither Tallahassee nor Tuscaloosa listed.
American Opportunity cities: Columbus #1. Neither Tuscaloosa nor Tallahassee listed.
Kauffman Foundation Cities for Entrepreneurship Growth: Columbus # 4. Neither Tuscaloosa nor Tallahassee listed.
I'm bored of doing the research but I'm guessing neither Tuscaloosa nor Tallahassee come close to Columbus for # of Fortune 1000 (or 500) companies. The ICF Smartest Cities is from 2015, they aren't listed in 2017. Urban's reaching there. Both Tallahassee and Tuscaloosa may have what Urban is talking about, but neither come close to being as good in those areas as Columbus.
Yeah, that's what I meant. Not that Tuscaloosa or Tallahassee are bad towns--just that they don't compare to a major population center in terms of job opportunities, number and size of businesses, etc. Real Life Wednesdays has clearly meant a lot to the parents of recruits, and this seems like a really smart way to gain another advantage on that front.
Thanks for those facts guys. Apparently some people don't understand in order to have a constructive argument you need facts not opinions which is what Urban was referring to.
Not sure why every point has to be argued.. I love the forum posts about recruiting but they're quickly becoming tangent filled garbage
I can think of a few members who I'd say roughly 70-80% of their comments are of the argumentative variety.
I'm going to disagree with you. I don't think that many posts are being argued. /s
See I disagree, I think more are argued than not.
He's not wrong, it's just that he isn't correct.
I rarely comment on here, but that was magnificent.

Blue Smith made this his profile picture. Kentucky fans are salty.
Seriously, when aren't Kentucky fans salty? They still find ways to complain after winning bball Nattys.
He's coming here. They need to accept that and move on.
USC just got its 4th commit at LB
according to 247 they have 1 ILB commit and 3 OLB commits.
they took 3 LBs last class.
Wow!! That is interesting news for sure. One of the posters here (either MoneyMike or 305) said he had read that OSU was the leader for Solomon. Fingers crossed.
He is a take for us and them no matter what, and has previously stated he doesn't care what the teams LB class looks like. But, he did tell Rivals the only OV he knows for sure he will take is Ohio State.
A lot of USC fans are laughing at the fact OSU actually thinks they can get him. I wonder how they will react if he doesn't pick USC.
Probably the same when we thought Audrey Walker would come to Columbus but went to USC instead.
Saw on an LSU site that got a commit out of Zach Sheffer today
That surprised me a bit; seems like the LSU thing escalated quickly.
Texas got a commitment from Rondale Moore, the WR out of Louisville with a laser timed 4.3. Looks like Texas Tom got an electric WR or KR/PR.
Pushed Texas up in rankings. At this [early] point, looks like team rankings could be: 1. tOSU, 2. Texas, 3. Miami, 4. Clemson, 5. State Penn. Could this be the first year in the Internet era (2000+) that no SEC team is in the top 5?
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
He's a good player and a good get for them but I think we end up only taking 2 wide receivers this class due to the numbers on the OL and DL. Which is fine bc that's where championships are won and right now Herman might want to concentrate more on those than taking 6 WR's this cycle.
Alabama on signing day, when all the 5* players announce:
Yeah, that's pretty damn accurate.
Alabama currently leads 0 Five star uncommitted prospects so.. actually not accurate. They only lead for 3 top 100 uncommitted players.(all 4 stars)
It's June, we still have a long way to go. Don't underestimate what Nick Saban can do.
Feel free to @ me if February 7 rolls around and Bama has a class full of 3-stars. But until that happens, I'd keep my money on a top 3 finish.
Top 10 for sure.. top 3.. I'm not putting Money on that
Right on cue.. the Bama crystal balls start pouring in.
Per Rob Cassidy at Rivals, 4* FL ATH Justin Watkins decommited from Texas. Rob also said that according to one of Watkins' coaches, tOSU will be a team to definitely watch moving forward. Kid has already been committed to LSU, FSU, and Texas so I would prob say cautious optimism here if anything. Wants to play WR at the next level which has lead to at least one of those decommitments since some schools see him as a DB. Kid can definitely play though.
Forgot to add but per Rivals Watkins is ranked as the 65th best overall prospect in the nation.
One more for tonight/morning:
High 4* CA DB Isaac Taylor-Stuart is probably playing the recruiting game or possibly trolling but his Twitter background and info is interesting nonetheless.
For those who don't want to click on the link he has the block O as his background and it says "Ohio State '22" in the information area. Again could be a troll or something for attention as it would be considered a huge coup if we landed him. IMO he's right up there with Campbell and Cook on our staff's DB board.
Update: apparently he took it down lol prob should've made a screenshot but it did exist albeit briefly apparently.....Bosa shrug
Antwuan Jackson Ian transferring to Blinn College in Texas. It's same school Kendall Sheffield went to. Ohio State and South Carolina are believed to be his top 2 choices.
Is there a minimum he has to be there before he can transfer to P5 school that Auburn arbitrarily banned?
Pretty sure he will be good to go after 1 year are blinn, can anyone confirm this?
If he completes the requirements he'll transfer in December.
Just thought this was interesting RE: Tyson Campbell. I know coaches probably do this a lot, just funny to hear it from recruits. This wouldn't have anything to do with Ohio State landing arguably the two best corners in the nation last year right?
"Coach Venables sends me the depth chart of every team that offers me so he has just been telling me that if I come there I will have the opportunity to start and compete. I keep hearing good things so I plan on visiting there again this time with my family."
"I've had smarter people around me all my life, but I haven't run into one yet that can outwork me. And if they can't outwork you, then smarts aren't going to do them much good." - Woody Hayes
OSU should send him copies of our past DBs recent NFL contracts.....im sure depth is talked about a lot in recruiting and I don't fault it in playing some part in a kid's commitment, but I think you also need to be careful to not make the kid feel like he wouldn't be good enough to earn playing time at another program...
Next time Campbell visits, Urban should hand him Hooker and Lattimore's cell numbers and tell him to ask them how much early playing time matters.
I'm sure Coombs' 3-man CB rotation helps on this front, too.
I like our message better: it's hard to start here and you will compete against great players. But we are recruiting you because you are good enough to start, and if you do, you will become a millionaire.

Someone better start part VII before the opening begins
The Opening will have its own thread but the next part is still needed.
