I mean, can't really blame him. An offer that late is basically a backhanded compliment.
Totally agree, I would definitely have felt disrespected by Ohio State and not changed either. Kentucky is lucky Cincinnati didn't really try to push for him though...
I bleed scarlet...literally
Agreed, but this speaks to how crazy good this class is. Kentuckys top recruit is an Ohio kid that OSU almost didn't even offer.
A late offer for a football scholarship from Ohio State is better than any offer to play football at Kentucky.
I Hate Michigan.
Yea that kind of attitude reeks of arrogance IMO. If you're trying to recruit someone you can't tell them that they should be grateful to even get an offer when other schools have made them a priority.
Maybe OSU is just trying to fill out their class?
I get it....but OSU offer is still better.
Not all kids really want to compete for their time on the field and some kids need to be stroked more than others. I wish the young man well.
For you maybe, just depends on your perspective and what you're looking for.
contrary to popular belief sometimes OSU just isn't the fit some guys are looking for.
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
well said RK84.
the 'fit' is a precursor to trust, then building cohesion, which validates individual sacrifices for an agreed higher/better common purpose.
it is a set of values that must be renewed and tested and then reaffirmed...
not a 'culture' of stuff - but a call to ams, for the band of brothers, by brothers old and new.
Agree, I don't blame him.
Not sure I believe it
dang....why even do this?

Probably to try to stay on the good side of the HS coach. "We offered, he just wasn't interested!"
Cant win them all, good luck down south. UK is getting some serious talent from Ohio these days.
Either way wish him the best. Sounds like he's traveled a long road to get to UK.
The offseason is the longest season.
Meyer has an outside and in approach where as I feel JT had an inside out approach. Farty already has a 3 top 10 from 2018. I know its early and a balance. Tough call in some cases. You take Clark and Shipley early at then it looks bad when they decommit or wait on a player like Bowden and strike out.
Is everyone sure that this really happened? Timing of it seems weird is all.
Looks guys, if your significant other spurns your advances at bedtime but then comes back later in the night and "changes their mind" are you going to say no... Not to say it's on the same scale as choosing a college but at the end of the day, there are the offers you have and the offers you don't have and you pick the one that is best suited to you.
All that being said, congrats to Bowden for sticking with UK and we wish him the best of luck.
"Defiance in Silence"
I wonder about the sourcing of this story. Have OSU sources confirmed an offer?
I don't know about this. They may have contacted him to gauge interest recently, but a signing day offer?
You can say whatever you want about it being late and about whatever. He should feel lucky the offer was on the table EVER. That's like saying your pissed because you didn't know you won the lottery until one hour before the ticket was no longer valid. C'mon man cash in the ticket ride off into the sunset with your bag-o-money. Don't let your pride get in the way of your career. But hey what the heck do I know about being recruited by any team ever? Nothing. Just another opinion.
There can be only one
Andrew Lind just tweeted that OSU did not offer Bowden.
A source close to the program tells me Ohio State "100 percent did not offer Lynn Bowden."

ONE Not Done!
And there you have it.....
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
I'd imagine this just means Coach Meyer got a call from either Jay Tufele, Thayer Munford or Marvin Wilson saying thank you for the offer and time you spent recruiting me but I won't be attending Ohio State. This gave Urban a late committable offer to give to someone and then reached out to Bowden..
We might have got burnt slow playing homegrown recruits.
Not really-tOSU got the extra WR they wanted-Gardiner-when Lindsey decommitted, the last scholly was obviously being saved for a DL. The staff got the #s they wanted at WR w/out Bowden. Agree they could have had him if they offered early.
If they did offer, it tells me Wilson isn't coming
An athlete WR is not a huge priority for this team right now, but in the future we could always use those guys. Elijah Gardiner was more of a priority b/c we need a guy, if he does some serious work in the weight room, can be an X.
I am not sure that I believe this.
“I will go on the record as saying this: we signed the best player in Ohio. Lynn Bowden is the best player in Ohio. And if you ask probably 30 reporters that cover Ohio football, they’ll all say he’s the best player in Ohio.
Vince Marrow trying to stir the pot, also stated that Bowden turned down OSU.
Can't wait for Coach Fick to start breaking his heart next year.
