I am glad Tyreke finally got an offer from the Buckeyes.
He had to wait a WHOLE season to get offered, geeze!
"The Edge is where average stops and elite begins"
Let's go Wilson...it's time to come to the good guys. With the way we rotate the line you'll be an impact player right away...and get a top notch education in the process.
“Right now, they have a leg up because my boys Jeff [Okudah] and Baron [Browning] are loving it up there.
"It's always scotch-thirty on my island."
I'm still refusing to get my hopes up. There's been too many Marvin Wilson situations, where we come up just short at his position, for me to get suckered in over a couple tweets. I'll belive it when I see it.
I've been taking the same approach as you, but I'm slowly finding myself getting sucked back in, and getting my hopes up a bit.
I coached in college for 5 years, and the allure of playing with friends is a very strong recruiting pull. I'm not saying we get Wilson, but I think we have a way better chance than what people are giving us.
Only problem is...he has 2 good friends at FSU and LSU too. I am not sure where they rank on his "best friends" list, but the fact that he went to SA on his own dime to watch Jeff and Barron play has to be a good thing. I wish he played in that game with those two rather than the UA game.
Are Okudah and Browning super close to Marv, or are they just like casual friends that met through the recruiting process? True friendships have a certain level of loyalty to them, so I think that could make a big difference.
from everything I've read on numerous sites they are "good friends" and even visited several campuses together during recruiting. Let's hope THIS campus will be his final decision.
Hopefully better than Tate and Tyjon

Urban > Hairbaugh
Just curious.. who is the dude in the white shirt standing next to Urban?
He's Marvin's best friend, Mac Rowe.
And apparently a 5 star prospect...
someone posted his twitter account. I'm guessing it's an inside joke between friends.
Fitzbuck | Toledo - Ohio's right armpit | "A troll by any other name is still a troll".
He's not a five-star prospect by any means, but it's my understanding he wants to go to whatever school Marvin does and try to walk on.
Offer him a track schollie...
Thanks for asking. I was more than curious myself.

Hey Marvin Wilson, I know who you should pick.
Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.
This is by far my new favorite, so funny! This kid will win a Heisman at Ohio State one day.
But first, Marvin Wilson needs to come win a few Natty's & be a team Captain!
Thank the Maker that I was born in Ohio, cradle of coaches, US Presidents, confederate-stomping Generals, and home of The Ohio State University Football Buckeyes- 2014 UNDISPUTED National Champions!
I was not nervous about Wavy Dub at all, but now that I see the dreaded 100%...
Very much looking forward to seeing him in S&G. Kid's a road grader and a bully on the field from what I've seen. Can't have enough like that.
Yeah, he and Chase Young might be the two I'm most excited to see.
Marvin, Tyreke and Thayer.........That's who I'm thinking about next Wednesday.
Sorry, Tyreke not until 2018.
I hope LJ lands Wilson. He has been so close to landing 5 star DTs and is always the runner up. He is do to have one go his way.
Come on down Marv!!
Re: Oliver Martin, "Jim Harbaugh reportedly convinced him to make the trip to Ann Arbor>"
Making the trip to Rome in the spring may be another selling point.
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina I ka Pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. (Hawai'i state motto) Aloha nui kakou.
Sometimes lessons are learned the hard way. Seems like a good kid.
...but Martin wouldnt be eligible to visit the Eternal City since he is NOT an early enrollee , right??
He should have taken the trip to Columbus, Ohio then!!
Not to mention Harbaugh, drunk off limonchello & shirtless, swimming in random Italian fountains...should be good times.
Thanks, Picasso, for painting that mental picture for me. I'll have nightmares for weeks. Grazie!
Findlay by birth, Buckeye by the grace of God.
Darn shame about Oliver Martin .... instead of playing for NC's, he decided to spend his college career treading through the mine field which is known as the OSU secondary. At what point do these recruits have a chance to chat with TTUN greats like Kyle Kalis or Mike Hart and get their view of what ALWAYS happens during the 3rd week of November ??
Some kids won't settle for anything less than complete success .... others are quite comfortable to just, settle .... enjoy your college career, Oliver .....
I still think that someone like Wilson, who wants to go early and make the big bucks plus try for a NC, cannot do it at LSU. They are more years out than that while the Bucks are favored to be in the CFP at least for the next 2-3 years. Staying home is great but leaving for 2 years might be the difference in about 10 million bucks come signing day.
While I agree with what you say about a NC...I am not sure on the leaving for the NFL part. LSU has the 2nd most NFL players aside from Alabama...
The only thing that is up for debate is this "early" impact and development piece that Marv has stated are his top priorities. LSU has a stable of kids that are physically imposing on their DL. He will play as a freshman, but he will be in a minor role. Here he is the Oliver kid from Houston and Dexter Lawrence combined. When you see the 3 star DTs that LJ has developed into NFL players, that handles the development aspect too. He could always be a role player for two years and then dominate a year at LSU and be a 1st rounder, but if he wants to be THE guy, this DLine is the way to go.
It's good for some to stay close to home. Hopefully he realizes Parents can A. Move to Columbus or B. Visit very often. There's no reason to stay close to home if you have world class talent. LSU can't even compete against Alabama let alone hope for a chance at a National championship or 2 or 3.
ANYONE who turns OSU down for TTUN really is out of touch with college football. I try not to be sour but that's just a really not a great idea. The track record for getting WRs into the league, victories head to head, opportunities to play for championships, etc. of OSU vs. TTUN is just so far skewed in favor of the good guys. I guess a recruit could just be looking for a play to get playing time or buy into the load of crap Harbaugh is selling. Unless you're from that wretched dump up there then I see no reason why a perceived intelligent kid from a good family would pick them over the Buckeyes.
Relationships. UM has one, and OSU does not.
It is too late to start, for the vast majority of recruits.
If someone offered me a chance to play for a NC somewhere, with an open ended option of choosing somewhere that had a better chance, I could go with the odds. But we don't know what other reasons he has. Maybe they offer better academics in the area he wants, or just wants to play for a certain coach. I bet a lot of TTUN players who had the chance to rethink, they would have been in Columbus the last 11 years.
I know Michigan is THE rival, but you really are wearing some scarlet colored glasses. Not everyone likes tOSU and/or Columbus, academics, possible majors, competition, the list goes on. There are much worse programs to play for, and Michigan is one of the top football programs in the region too. Sure they haven't had recent success comparable to tOSU but they have no shortage of NFL scouts hanging around.....even though they end every season with the taste of defeat.
"Top programs in the region".. how the mighty have fallen.
Your comment seems to presuppose that a decision regarding any recruit's choice of school should be 100% based on football, and, more specifically, the particular team's success for those 4 years. Essentially, you are taking the gist of Cardale's infamous tweet and flowering it up with prettier words. The reality is that most of these young men (whether they play at OSU, TSUN, Alabama, etc.) will never sniff the NFL, and I would always say that any college choice based 100% on football is beyond foolish (see any of Jeffery Okudah's stated rationale's for attending tOSU as an example of a fantastic mindset). Sorry, but I feel that is just an incredibly narrow-minded approach that I see far too often not only here, but on all other recruiting boards as well.
While we can discuss ad nauseum all of the objective benefits of tOSU v. TSUN, we don't have the appropriate knowledge to speculate on why any particular recruit should choose one over the other. We simply don't know them well enough (or, at all). Just like most of us here, I am ecstatic when they choose the good guys, and bummed when they don't (or flat out pissed when they choose the skunk-weasels). That doesn't mean that I could ever presume to know that they made the wrong choice - it could very well be the best choice for them.
Michigan was a 4th and 1 overtime stop away from likely going to the playoff and competing for a national title. As great as it would be, OSU is not an absolute superior choice for all recruits.
It's over with Wilson. Best friend with the floppy LSU hairdo wants to go to the same school ...
If our hat is on the middle of the table, it will be another sad day.

We have a barber shop in our locker room to provide him with the necessary hair cut. /s
I have a bad feeling about it. His best friend's apparently all LSU on his Twitter, and the way Wilson talked about how he had all his questions about LSU already answered, makes me think he's leaning there.
But let's see how Urban and LJ handled his concerns about playing time. We have several really good DT's, but none with the pedigree of Wilson's. I haven't looked at LSU's last few recruiting classes, but I'm hoping they signed a bunch of highly ranked DT's.
Come on Wilson, play defense with your buddies Oakudah and Browning!
Wood make him pretty poplar
Go Bucks********Muck Fichigan
Good one, smartash.
Meanwhile, I will pine away for Wilson to come to Columbus.
Columbus is the perfect spot fir him
Someone should definitely spruce up campus for his official visit. If not, we may all be weeping like a willow.
It would be nice to bring in two Wilson's in the same year. One by the name of Marvin and the other by the name of Kevin. Here's to wishful thinking. Good luck with your decision making process. Do what is best for you and your family.
THE 1st undisputed champs
Im sure he will hold his word....*crosses fingers....*wears same socks till announcement * throws salt
We do not pull in and fill up. And I'll tell you why we don't. It's because I don't buy one goddamn drop of gas in the state of Michigan. We'll coast and push this goddamn car to the Ohio line before I give this state a nickel of my money.
Excellent offer to Tyreke....way to go UFM
