Square feet. That's one thing that's safe from inflation.
Although these release seems to suggest just 1MM sqft of buildings...hopefully it means holding something hostage for more land as well. That would be more fun from the evil people turning everything into mixed-use space.
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
Big plans. The "straightening" of curl drive is already underway or about to be.
Thank the Maker that I was born in Ohio, cradle of coaches, US Presidents, confederate-stomping Generals, the Uncomparable Joe Burrow, and home of The Ohio State University Buckeyes- 2014 UNDISPUTED National Champions!
23 acres sounds a lot less dramatic so I get why it's described as 1 million square feet.
Baseball was better with steroids
Acres usually refers to land area, square feet to buildings. I wonder which it is. The article could be clearer.
Lanternesque headline writing. Do better 11W.
I keep seeing mods referring to "clickbait" - this is an example of that. /closes thread
Hmm, the headline on the front page is "Ohio State Eyes Campus Expansion". What part of that is clickbait???
If you want clickbait, scroll up to the Taboola links that say "She had no idea why the crowd was cheering" or "You won't believe Ezekiel Elliott's IQ", or "10 things middle aged women should not be wearing".
"Ezekiel Elliott's girlfriend is actually jaw-dropping"
The 2055 Moon Campus is going to be sick though.
as a ardent fan of all things Buckeye, both academics and sports, I can only endeavor to be available for this new campus ribbon-cutting ...

Armstrong Hall is still closer to my classes than Morrill Tower!
I believe that artist rendering shows athletic fields/green spaces where St. John stands. #undergradmemories
From the slide:
"St. John Arena is no longer on the immediate hopping block, but eventually it could turn into recreation space that now sits of of Coffey Road. That space would be lost because of new research buildings planned for the area."
If your not moving forward your going backwards.

Nice work Drake
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Seattle Sounders 2019 MLS Champions
Meh, whatever. I think arps Hall is the only building I used as a student that is still standing that the university hasn't demolished or molested into something else.
When I arrived on campus they realized they needed more space to hold my bulging stomach huge biceps.

Hey aren't you that guy that girl called to from the porch at 2AM that one time at the beginning of freshman year?
Haha yeah I mentioned that in a forum post about my pre-game and in-game experience for the Tulsa game, my second game as a student. Didn't result in anything... I was too worried about my drunk friend I was walking home.
Yeah, I remember...just busting your chops. Don't let those biceps go to waste.
a temporary stay of execution for St. John Arena.
This is the best part of the article. They just need to make it a permanent stay.

Amazing. I remember when west campus was out in the sticks, i.e. anything west of the Olentangy. Taking a class there was like being exiled to Siberia.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
My major was out there, just west of the river.
Graduated in 2004. Was still out in the boonies.

As a resident of Upper Arlington, I question your remark.
As a welding engineering graduate (shout-out to the victims of the attack) West campus was a great place to have classes. We could drive out there, have class, and drive back. No walking in cold weather for us man. Was nice.

I mean, it still is kind of out there. People complain whenever they have class out there and here I am practically living west of the river because I'm an ENR student.
How can they expand if they already own the land
a temporary stay of execution for St. John Arena
Fuck you and your corn fields and meth houses, Indiana. Here we come.
The Ohio State University in California
But...French Field House...
I hate the offseason.
French Field House?? What about the Varsity Club ???
Too much time spent at the North Heidelberg rather than the classroom. SSD 68-72
What a wonderful University we have!
Missing from this story is how much this is going to cost, and how much more tuition is going to go up as a consequence.
FWIW, capital expenditures like these are funded by the endowments and other fundraising. They have billions (with a B) in the endowment.
Endowment doesn't cover the cost of staff and maintenance on the new buildings.
Ohio State Football is what keeps me connected to my alma mater, but this sort of investment (and hopefully elite professors) is what attracts the best and the brightest. Very excited that OSU is committed to athletic and academic excellence.

Great. More construction to become an eyesore for visiting fans. After seeing how beautiful Oklahoma and Virginia Tech's campuses were on game day, it almost makes me want to have them stop any construction in the fall haha
Proud Graduate of The Ohio State University-2014
Just leave the Varsity Club alone.
Just leave the Varsity Club alone.
I cried when I discovered that the old North Berg was gone. I will likely have passed when the dozers smash the VC. Today's Varsity Club is not the intimate pub of yesteryear. I cannot go there again. Thomas Wolfe was right.
Please please please keep St. John!
