I can think of no one on the team more deserving. Curtis Samuel is a special player. If there is an OC out there that can figure out effective ways to use him, he could be an absolute monster in the NFL.
Def. going to miss him in Columbus #don'tgotothebrowns
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Definitely going to miss him is right.... But hopefully this opens the door for a young one to step in and shine.

I think Demario is the likely candidate for the "Curtis Samuel" position.
Remember to get your wolverine spayed or neutered. TBDBITL "Defend Your Shoe" AZNCHIPMUNK
I doubt it. I love Demario's heart and speed.....but the young man is a smurf and imho, too small to get a lot of touches at this level. I don't think there are too many "Demario McCall's" on either Bama's or Clemson's rosters tonight. We keep thinking that Meyer is going to find gold on this roster and his next "Percy Harvin".....and what we wind up with are guys like Marshall, Wilson and Samuel who simply move on to the next level, never fully utilized. Besides.....Curtis Samuel's position was a converted WR and deep threat....cuz nobody else on this roster was apparently able to do it. I don't see McCall filling that role either.
I'd go KJ Hill or maybe Parris Campbell
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
Let Parris and DMC fill the H and let KJ be the best receiver he can be without the distraction of H would be my wish. I am still waiting for Urban to call me for my expert opinion. I may have to wait a little longer perhaps.
Our people are everywhere, Esto Dignus.
I'll tell Urban to call you tonight after he calls me.
In Meyer's system, the H needs hands and some ability to run. Hill has the hands, even if not a much run as Samuel does. While folks were lambasting other WRs and calling for Hill to replace Campbell, McLaurin, and Clark. He didn't because he plays H, behind Samuel and Wilson. In the bowl game, he played ahead of Wilson. So with those two gone, Hill is next man up @ H and I expect will do well!
Do you not think the failed fully utilization of the player may have to do with the one throwing the ball?
I think utilization is about the one calling the plays.
that's what makes the "after-season" so awesome to watch unfold for the Buckeyes
“Save yourself and relax during every game. I recommend a fine bourbon.”
Samuel was listed at 5'11", 197lbs after 3 years in the program. Was listed at 186 when recruited.
McCall is 5'9", 182lbs as a true freshman. Put on a few pounds this offseason and he will be fine. We aren't talking about McCall playing tailback.
Not sure about McCall being the man but an upvote for calling it the 'Curtis Samuel' position!
The pain of discipline or the pain of regret, take your pick
Does anyone think mccall is going to put up alot of yardage recieving? I dont. The curtis samuel position is first and foremost a reciever first! then a runner. Mccall isnt going to play wide out in the nfl like samuel is going to or marshall, braxton or harvin did. Mccall is a runningback imo.
Yep. Coaches have a tall order on hand this spring.
"Cause I couldn't go for three!"
Not Surprised, but going to miss you. Thanks #4
Best of luck, Curt. May you get drafted by a team that knows how to use you.
Who the heck downvoted this. I hope that was a mistake.

Just guessing that the downvoter didn't like calling him "Curt." But I'm not too much into spelling people's names correctly----I love purposely misspelling Buroughs' name just to mess with people.
...there's no 's.'
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
And they were DV-ing me for referring to McCall as a "smurf" and that he was not a logical replacement for Samuel. Hey, you win some, you lose some.
Gonna miss the guy, he'll do some damage in the pros. He'll be a Buckeye legend, even if this was his only moment, it would be enough.

Best of luck to him. He's going to be amazing in the league for sure. He reminds me a lot of ty Montgomery for the packers. Just an all around good players.
now lattimore it's your turn... your killing us.
Good luck Curtis! You will be missed by Buckeye Nation for sure.
Good luck to him, but this sucks. Our only offensive weapon. I hope Kevin Wilson can work some magic with these guys.
If Wilson could deliver offenses with the personnel he had at Indiana, surely he will be able to do the same with the personnel he has at tOSU, even without Samuel.
McCall it's your turn now young man!

Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Go get paid young man! Best of luck to Mr. Samuel!!!!!!!!
Good luck Curtis! Time for the young Bucks to step up.
Good luck Curtis!
God help the rest of the League if somehow Billy B and Tommy get their hands on him.
Kid is going to wow them in the combine!
I am comfortable in him going because if there was a bright spot in a backup player, McCall is a capable replacement IMO!
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
How did we go from being the youngest team in CFB to being possibly even younger next season.
OSU football is becoming an NFL farm team :-( Just as we're getting to know these players, they're off to bigger and better things. Best of luck, Curtis!
Looks like we'd better get used to it -
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
I wish him the best, but I worry about all these early departures. As the Fiesta Bowl showed, you need veterans and experience. I don't see the Buckeyes winning another title anytime soon if they lose 5 or 6 underclassmen to the pros each year.
You do you realize this happens to almost all the other top schools as well?
List of "all the other top schools":
Redshirting and superior talents like Zeke.
He is a special talent with the ball in his hands, cant be surprised by this decision.
I was hoping to see Samuel return and run all the way to New York and the CFP. However, he is instead moving on to pursue his dream. At least this clears the way for more of the young weapons to see the field earlier (looking at you, #30). Next man up has been the mantra for a few seasons now, and with the continued early declarations that will have to continue to be the case. OSU's preseason ranking will certainly be interesting to watch, as will the early lines for their bigger games.
Good luck to Samuel. Hope that he proves to be far better than Percy Harvin.

Man, this one hurts most of all I think. All the best to Mr. Samuel!
Expected, but too bad. Was hoping a little that he would stick around. It would have helped a bit with the uncertainty in the backfield. Or at least lack of experience. I think Weber and McCall will be pretty good though. Have to see how Williams does as well.
Good luck to Curtis. I wish he would have received more playing time those first few years. Got to find a way to get these explosive players more touches right out of the gate because they will be leaving after year three.
As expected, and as it should be. Go get your money young man! Thank you for everything you did while wearing the Scarlet and Gray.
Thank you for a fantastic season Curtis! Best of luck! Demario McCall, it's your time to shine! Next man up!
We will fight to the end for OH-IO!

Of all people declaring, I think his absence will have the biggest impact on the team. Time for the young guys to step up.
Curtis was our offense at times, however I feel H-back is the one position we have flexibility with KJ and McCall looking like they can contribute right away.
All the best Curtis... Sorry, you never got the opportunity to totally showcase your talents...
Good luck in the BIGS... and thanks for being a great Buckeye!
... Always a Buckeye!!
Samuel was in the same boat as JT for me. Would love to keep him, but I'm very excited to the see the what the next man up can do!
"Because I couldn't go for three"
He will get drafted before Peppers. Unless the Browns don't trade the top pick.
Good luck Curtis
Never really got to see him use his limitless potential....guess we will on Sundays! Good Luck CS!
I think he should play running back... he can run between the tackles, we just never let him do it.
"Braxton Miller is lose, spin move"
I hate losing Samuel and Brown...but in the long run it forces these coaches to go with guys that are young but talented. Mack, Victor and Hill should finally get a fair look at WR.
McCall should be fine at the H. Need some depth there...maybe Campbell...JT will have to use his weapons this year
I'm thinking Paris and possibly EGW with how well he did playing as Watson during Bowl practices.
Agreed! Campbell could be explosive, but really needs to work on eliminating the drops. McCall has a high ceiling as a playmaker.
This puts the roster at 90 currently with all commits on it. Gibson, Lattimore, Jamarco all included in the 90.
Nicholas l Ernst
Starting to be clear how we get down to 85. James Clark, Erick Smith, Stephen Collier, Darius Slade and Dylan Thompson will all be told to pack their bags (or have "injuries" appear).
Ummm Erick Smith should be in the mix for starting safety next year...
(Not your downvote, by the way)
Got a reliable source on this?
i'd add Dixon to the outbound list. ESmith is staying and will play in 2017.
I'm hoping that's not the case with Dixon, but his nagging injuries seem to always be of the same variety. Let's all hope that his football career and future opportunities are not limited because of it.
Just my educated guesses based on their lack of production to this point. It appears to have really riled some feathers though.
IIRC Smith got PT and was on the fast track prior to his injury. Regardless, we have holes to fill in the secondary and we have the guys to do it.
Dixon already declared he is done and I think Burrow or Haskins will transfer if JT is handed the starting job. Why not lose this year of eligibility and go somewhere where you are given a shot at the starting job, especially if your name is Haskins and you were committed to Maryland before switching to OSU.
BB - hadn't heard that about JD. Thanks for the info.
I'm having a hard time believing a redshirt freshman would transfer (and have to sit out another season of football) because a 5th year senior is ahead of him in the depth chart.
I doubt Burrow would, but why not Haskins? Transfer and play next year. Haskins has too sit at least two years the way things are going so he could transfer and only sit one.
(or have "injuries" appear).
Dylan Thompson actually has suffered significant injuries and was academically ineligible this fall. So anything related to that wouldn't be that mysterious, nor would the decision to move on from a kid who failed to hold end up his end of the agreement in the classroom. Collier has graduated I believe, so he could transfer and play immediately if he wishes. However, I'll leave the decision making up to the players and coaches.
I think it puts them at 89 assuming Haubeil delays going on scholarship.
good luck to him. time for the GOAT
Good luck Curt Sam! Guess not everybody enthused with making a run at the title with a new OC and the Greatest QB in the history of OSU.

Best of luck, C4.
"Samuel, breaks free...Buckeyes win it!"
Great block by Weber on overrated Peppers.
They didn't even bring out the sticks to make sure he got all the way into the endzone. #crookedrefs
Noooo!!! ha ha. Good luck CS! I wouldn't mind him getting drafted by my Cowboys :D. It's a shame we didn't see him get to play more in his 1st 2 years. Somehow he got less touches in year 2 than 1 (Having EZE will do that) but he should've been one of the main focal points of our O the last 2 season. Oh well, he was fun to watch while he was here and I'll def miss seeing him suit up for the Bucks.
Now I'm beginning to think 2018 is our year. Before this past season I thought 2017 would be the year as we'd be young and inexperienced so making the playoffs this season was a bonus for me.. but now with all these guys leaving early, some I thought would've been back I'm not sure next year will be a Championship year as I was once thinking, now I'm leaning towards 2018.
So surprise, of course. But -
#HotTake - this is good news for the '17 offense. He was a crutch for us this year and at times our only playcall was "I dunno, throw it to Curtis in the flat, see what he can do". At least now we'll be forced to diversify a little.
Well brutus.....you get the silver lining post of the day award! Diversify? Cuz......the Offense was so creative this year? I see your point, but will not hold my breath just yet.
It's true though. I remember after Shazier left in 13, reading quotes from some of our linebackers saying his departure gave them a chance to step up in more ways than one.
We forced plays to Curtis the last 3 games for certain. I would like to see more than half of our throws at least 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.
Is there going to be an open competition at QB? If not, then we are stuck with 5 yard throws!
Many things have to change on offense - significant improvement at QB, OL, and WR are needed (especially in light of the early departures) if this team wants to get anywhere near the 10-11 win range to which they've been accustomed.
Good for the '17 offense AND the '18 recruiting class. I wouldn't be surprised if these consistently impressive draft classes equal or even surpass the impact of overall team success on a recruits decision-making process.
I wouldn't really call it good news, but I understand what you're saying. I would say that is more of a stale offensive coordinator that lacks creativity. The "They know what is coming and they still can't stop it" is cool when it works, but makes you look foolish when you go 3 and out every drive. Ohio State has the playmakers to run an offense that keeps a good balance and is unpredictable, but I just think we've gotten a little arrogant the last two years
Not even that #hot either.
Adjusted for hotness:
Do we even get past Army before the offensive has a new crutch? #hottake
Expected, good stuff. Good luck, hopefully my Patriots pick him up.
Next man up Demario!
Time to step up to the plate, Mr. McCall
Damn it anyway...
Best of luck Curtis. You will be missed...
16-2 is SWEET!
One of my all-time favorite players for the Buckeyes. Great player for us and still think he could've been used more effectively during his time here in Columbus. He is going to be a really good player in the league IMHO.
Thanks Curtis for everything and wish you nothing but the best moving forward. Go kick some ass (maybe as a Tampa Bay Buc....one can dream) in the NFL - you earned it!

Good luck Curtis - you're a hell of a Buckeye.

What was supposed to be a rebuilding year has quickly become Buckeye exodus 2.0 :/
Nothing but the best to everyone who will/has entered the draft and I'm sure they will all be great. Luckily Urban did a great job of getting a bunch of players on the team so inexperience shouldn't be as much of a factor next year (not to mention a crazy recruiting class).
I still think we can be very good next year, but now we will def need some to step up big. This could be thete year alot of fans thought this year would be. I still see us at worse, 9-3. Having 3 of our big 4 at home is a blessing
DAMN it... was hoping for one more year but cannot blame Curtis for his decision.... Good luck young man and thank you for all you've done for THE Ohio State University.
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
Along with Jamarco Jones, he was the one I really wanted to come back. Oh well. Best of luck Curtis.

I Believe In Ohio State.
Not surprised... but this one hurts... Wish him the best at the next level and in life..
Suprised he is going so soon, but maybe this will make Najee Harris think about coming to OSU. We need a big back with speed. Thanks for the everlasting memory (MIchigan) Curtis!
"When you're part of a team, you stand up for your teammates. Your loyalty is to them. You protect them through good and bad, because they'd do the same for you." Yogi Berra
Isn't Harris an EE? OSU class start today so I don't think Harris is a possibility.
I heard he was going to enroll early too. I'm not sure when Alabama starts school, but I do know Najee graduated HS on Dec 22nd. Here's a quote, I guess OSU was closer to him they they actually believed.
“I really love competition, and there’s nothing better than the SEC,” Harris said in a November interview. “Then when I went there, you feel that thing in your body, like, ‘OK, this is where I want to go.’ I felt comfortable there. …
“But I got that feeling at Michigan, too, and Ohio State.”
Harris is already at Bama.
I'm happy that he will get to have what will most certainly be a great career in the NFL. I'm sad that his last game was that horrible debacle in the desert. Good luck at the next level!
Urban wasted his entire jr season with that dogshit offense.
Same way he wasted Braxton at WR his senior season....
alas...what could have been....
best of luck at the next level.
Harsh, but valid criticism.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
Appreciate it. Apologies for the cursing but I'm gonna blame that on 3 things (Monday, last nights loss to Minnesota and it was zero degrees here in NYC while I was walking and typing that)
I'm excited for Samuel, his season's success and his future @ the next level, because he spent HIS sophomore year behind Braxton's Sr year transition to WR. There was absolute no reports of him grumbling, from inside or outside the program. Has the same talent last year as he showed this year, Glad he followed his heart, go get paid!!!
Feel like his NFL career will only make us realize more how underutilized he was at OSU...guy has Marshall Faulk skills...as a Browns fan, I hope you go anywhere else like all other Buckeyes.
Your feelings are valid. As much praise as we heap on Urban this is a trend.
I think the trend starts and mostly ends with who is or is not throwing the ball. Urban needs to find a guy who can throw with running being the icing on the cake. JT running is the cake and there is very little if any icing in the way of throwing.
Yup. I feel like this offensive coaching staff arguably cost Miller and Samuel a Heisman and definitely cost Elliot one. What a shame.
i hope he goes to the browns the damn deserter
My only disappointment is that he didn't get enough touches over the course of his 3 years at OSU. Actually, I would say for every Buckeye offensive player, barring Zeke. Give 'em hell, 4.
Thank you Mr. Samuel for your career as a Buckeye. I wish you health and success in your NFL future. Manage your money wisely for a secure future for you and your family.

Thanks for everything you did here, Curtis. The Brooklyn Dagger will live on forever. Here's to making guys miss like this on Sundays...
Make preparations in advance. You never have trouble if you are prepared for it.
Best of luck in the League Brooklyn Dagger, we'll miss you

My second reaction was, "Good luck, Curtis! You'll be missed!"
The entire Buckeye Nation should take pride in how UFM and staff are doing their best to improve our Sunday afternoon football experiences.
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
Curtis is a class act and will be missed, but not forgotten as we will be seeing more of him on Sundays.
Best of luck to Samuel. It's time to show out McCall.
Good luck Curtis, Next!
Time to call up Demario!
yes, I'm still alive
Congrats Curt. Although you'll be missed, I'm pretty excited to see what McCall can do.
Best wishes, Curtis. Time for McCall and others to step up at The Ohio State University. No drop off!
Sad to see Curtis go, but it makes sense. His draft value is about as high as it could be. If he stayed another year opposing teams would be keying on him.
Hopefully he shocks the NFL like Zeke has. Best of luck, Curtis, and thanks!

You will be missed, CS4...best of luck moving forward.
I had to run away high, so I wouldn't come home low...
Tim Beck cost Curtis Samuel millions.
I think Curtis is going to be a high draft pick. After demonstrating a "baseline" of college productivity, the NFL compares more about your combine numbers than the numbers on the field. For example, Christian McCaffrey put up HISTORIC numbers in 2015, yet won't necessarily be the first running back drafted. Curtis, because of his "tweener" status (personally, I think he can have a similar career to Brian Westbrook) was never going to be a Top 10 pick like Zeke.
Braxton was the 85th pick this year. Mike Thomas was the 47th. I think if he runs a sub 4.5 40, his draft position will be more more inline with Mike's and possibly higher.
Sad. I think he needs to improve his draft stock with another year. But I understand the temptation.
Why can't this coaching staff keep talented players for longer? Alabama seems to have little trouble convincing redshirt sophomores and even juniors to stick around for one more season. Jonathan Allen, Derrick Henry come to mind.
Bama has lots of players leave early. Allen is an exception. Henry left early, he was in the same high school class as Zeke and left after 3 years (2013-2015)
Best of luck. Not sure how high he will be drafted. Seems like he is a 3rd down back at the next level. Too short to start at WR and too small to carry the rock every down.
Too short? There are many receivers in the NFL who are 5'11" like Curtis including Odell Beckham, Antonio Brown, Golden Tate, Emmanuel Sanders, Randall Cobb, Julian Edelman, T.Y. Hilton who actually led the NFL in receiving yards this season, and many others.
paging Demario McCall... you're time to shine son.
What's funny is I called this yesterday. Got downvoted into oblivion for it. I think JT coming back and likely being given the starting job factored heavily into Samuel's decision. Why not go now instead of next year when there is no real hope of improving your draft stock with the same inaccurate QB. Clemson publically challenged JT to be accurate and won. Everyone all year the loaded box and dared JT to beat them, but it never really happened.
Best of luck Curtis Samuel. Go get paid young man.
I suspect the same is going to happen next year. I suspect we will drop a game like at Iowa, but I'm concerned that the team is still so talented and better than the rest of the schedule, that we'll end up in the playoff again, a year early.
Next man up...........
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
dang..JT is going to have nothing but newbies and inexperienced on offense next year... new coaching but players will be very young...
oh well.. it is what it is...
lot of 4-5 star players w/ 1 yr or no experience on offense.. a lot of new secondaries too next year...
Best wishes as you pursue your NFL dream.
Buckeye Forever, Curtis Samuel.
I am not very smart, but I recognize that I'm not very smart. --- W.W. Hayes
Good luck Brooklyn Dagger. I have no doubt you'll be slaying defenses at the next level.
Shandy is not beer
[] - []
After losing Brown and now Samuel, the Oklahoma fanbase is likely doing collective backflips. I still think we can beat them, but the guys that scored against them this season, just bailed.
They lost Mixon, Perine, and Westbrook
Well, Mixon's gone, and I think Austin Kendall can be counted on for some more bulletin board material. So it evens out, I think. ;-)
This might sound a bit weird, but this might be addition by subtraction. Hear me out. Samuel is a fabulous player, but when he is in there, it's almost like the offense has gotten dumbed down as we try to just get the ball to Samuel. I think I would have hit my head on the wall till I passed out if I saw one more failed jet sweep. Not having the crutch will force a more dynamic game plan. One other thought that I had is that Samuel is a bit of a tweener--not quite a RB not quite a WR. I feel like, in the quest to find a "Percy Harvin" type, we are playing these tweener RB types out of position to the detriment of the offense as a whole. I think Samuel is a dynamic talent and probable top 50 NFL pick, but I think we get better without out him. I know that sounds crazy. And FWIW, I think McCall can do the same thing.
At any rate, thanks Samuel for 3 years and best of luck going forward. As we always say here, NEXT MAN UP!!
You are entitled to you own opinion, not your own facts.
I feel like if you replace the name Samuel with Miller we were saying the same thing last January and look how this past season turned out.
As a selfish fan, this sucks, I love watching him play and wish he was coming back, but good luck Curtis! You deserve it! Let's go Run DMC!
Good luck to you Curtis. You will be missed.
If JT starts next yr you can pretty much kiss the season good bye in terms of being playoff competitive. That's not just a knock on JT. Where is the offense going to come from? Easier schedule next yr, but the problems will be exposed and magnified vs the better teams. OSU really needs to blow this offense up next yr with a new leader at QB that open up the field and the game instead of playing against a crowded box.
OSU's best shot is w/ the passing phenom Joe Burrow. Over 70% completion rate his jr and sr yr in high school, 79% in limited action with OSU and star of the spring game (14-23 w/ 3 TDs). Burrow has had success passing every time he's been on the field vs only 5 of 13 times in 2016 for JT and only had one game in 2015 for JT passing for > 150 yds w/ a PE > 125, that vs lowly Rutgers. Burrow can throw through much tighter windows than JT and can open the field up. The deep pass will have to be respected again, opening things up for the running game. Does Burrow have everything JT does? Clearly not, but it is OSU's best chance at developing a dynamic offense that can be competitive in the playoffs.
"If JT starts next yr you can pretty much kiss the season good bye in terms of being playoff competitive. That's not just a knock on JT. Where is the offense going to come from?"
We did this last week. Enough. Fact is, you have no way of knowing if one of the best QB's in Ohio State history can lead this team on a playoff run. We will have a whole new offense next year--different coaches, players, more experienced line, etc. Stop being melodramatic and pretending you know the unknowable (said another way, take your negativity somewhere else. Many of us are getting sick of it).
Let's not forget either that Weber should be better than last year, and to be quite frank, WR play couldn't possibly be any worse.
I am excited to see us plug in and develop true WR's like Victor, Mack, and Grimes to name but a few. I think Victor could be an Odell Beckham type stud.
Not being negative, just being real. Look at the offensive results passing and overall the last 3 games. Sure JT can pass for TDs vs Bowling Green and Rutgers and other weak Ds. And if OSU had all that talent surrounding him in 2017 like he did in 2014 things would be different, though the passing game went nowhere in 2015 with incredible talent surrounding him. We can bury our heads in the sand or look objectively. A lot of this seems to go back to JT vs Cardale - people pick sides and never change. I actually love everything about JT other than his passing game and what is quite evident with results vs better teams. I like to win, and you can pretty well see where this is going with JT at the helm. So can the coaches prepping for OSU next yr - crowd that box, stopping the run and horizontal game, and don't respect the deep ball.
Going a completely different route is OSU's best chance to win. And that may not even be Burrow. May be Haskins or Martell, though Martell has a lot to learn. Any of them would set up OSU better for the future.
We have already hired a new QB coach and it believed a new OC as well. So changes are coming. Maybe you weren't around last week, but we hashed this out already ad nauseum Fact is, the only people that really have the information to make this decision are insiders who know exactly what is going down--the people who know about small injuries that never get reported, that are at practice everyday, that see the hard work the kids put in away from the practice field, etc. It's okay to have an opinion so long as you realize it's limitations--some internet guy who has not worked at a high level in CFB (I am presuming here) who watches the games on tv or at the stadium after consuming some beverages, isn't in the best position to diagnose a plan of action going forward. Sorry to play this card, but I am going to trust the guy who has a .850 winning percentage and 3 titles to make the call. Just the way it is bum juice...
12 gauge winning percentage as a starter was undefeated with a National Title win also. Bum juice? Gotcha fear the nut, you have a great buckeye day also
Melodramatic? It seems the dramatic one is u telling somebody enough and take there negativity somewhere else. Fact is the Greatest statistical QB in the history of OSU is open to fair critique and criticism like anybody else. Its what makes sports great pastimes to banter about maybe your glasses are to rose/Buckeye colored to see that JT has regressed in his play to a point that its reasonable to believe that when he is done he will be lucky to start in the CFL, However he will be the greatest statistical QB OSU has ever seen. Dont get mad that some fans wanted to see a open QB competition between some pass first QB's that could possibly elevate the offense to passing levels the greatest OSU QB ever hasn't.
Gonna miss you Curt Well all be cheering you on in the NFL. #Curt4Heisman #Curt4Ever
Clemson student. GO BUCKS!
Funny no mention of OCs or positions coaches in the thank you note....
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
This is the one that I didn't want to lose and think will most effect this team IMO. Dude would have been the focal point on offense ( even more so than 2016) and would have been an early Heisman favorite IMO. I also think he could have benefited by staying, increase his draft stock, I don't feel he reached his ceiling yet at all. Bumjuice!
If you want kicking tee return guy and Gatorade guy thanked...Golden Globes is perfect for you!
ttun 2019 offense...same pig, different lipstick.
Hurry up January 16th!
Happy for Curtis, he'll be awesome as always.
Sad for us schlubs who were hoping for one more year. Thanks for the memories to another Buckeye forever.
"The only good thing about it is winning the d*** thing" - Urban Meyer on The Game The War
I am excited for Samuel as well as for the offense. At this point JT is the only one coming back who is considered a weapon. The coaching staff will forced to be creative without relying on one individual. Plus, there will be no expectation or demand to get one person the ball.
For an offense that was inept at times, it is sort of refreshing to hit the reset button and start over. Best wishes to these men as they pursue their dreams. Hopefully their NFL futures are bright.

...or does this mean that Urban will simply rely on JT even more?
I like your positive view of things! It will be nice to start a season without the constant questions about how to get an individual player "His Touches". I've never liked having your offense designed on just a couple of players because it makes your offense to predictable for good defensive teams. Samuel was a great talent, but the Clemson's defense looked like they were in the huddle with the offense. Next years team will really be young(Again), but it will be exciting to see who steps up.
Another under-utilized HomeRun Hitter we hardly knew...
Good luck Curtis - Beastmode is coming to the NFL again!
I'm pro money, so it should be no surprise, my only issues with this news are the font face decision and the spelling of "Marotti."
No surprise - best of luck at the next level. Just no Stillers or Pats

I hate both of those teams but he is a dream come true for the Pats.
Going to miss him. He will do well. Thanks for the outstanding contributions you made.

— Marshon Lattimore (@shonrp2) January 9, 2017
Seems like these guys are intentionally spacing them out as to not steal each others' thunder, and I'm good with that. If Lattimore returns, it would be Meyer's greatest recruiting job for 2017.
Marshon is gone!!! He's just having fun, as he's done since the season ended and others started declaring. For those that follow recruiting, he did much the same with his commitment.
He's gone. There was a player meeting yesterday, who was not there was as telling as who was. Marshon falls into the former category.
Go get paid !!!! Good luck and best wishes !!!!!
Samuel is the fifth Buckeye to turn pro after the team's shocking 31-0 loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff at the Fiesta Bowl.
For everything that these guys achieved from 2014-16, it's sad that this will be the lasting memory of most of them.

My lasting memory will be of them defeating TTUN three years in a row.
Always remember our yearly goals:
1. Beat TTUN
2. Win the B1G East
3. Beat TTUN
4. Win the B1G Championship
5. Beat TTUN
6. Make the playoffs
7. Beat TTUN
8. Win the National Championship
9 Beat TTUN
!0. And oh, yeah..... beat TTUN!

Lead, follow, or get out of my way!
'CS4 The Score' and an edition of The Game I will never forget. Best wishes!!!
Best of luck Curtis and thanks, especially for the 15 yard scUM heart removal surgery. Hopefully I'll get to keep cheering for you on Sundays in Eagles green!
You're up, McCall!
So the deniro gif was out of bounds but you post this shit, what a hypocrite lol
Thanks for your services, CS4. Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye!
He had to go. Good luck Curtis! I think someone like EGW may be used as the "H" back. McCall I see as a running back and getting carries and screen passes etc.(that's right screen passes when Wilson gets involved). KJ Hill is a WR a slot guy. I was so looking forward to different players on offense next year including Burrow or Haskins at QB and a different OC in Wilson..... Don't see JT taking all the snaps next year if there is no improvement in his individual passing- no way Burrow or Haskins can be that poor of a thrower. Burrow or Haskins IMO will see the field more next season.
I came here today thinking "I'll check if Curtis has declared yet, surely the dudes at 11W will know. I was expecting this but every day I didn't hear it I got a little more hopeful. Oh well! Go get yours Curtis. THANK YOU for everything.
Proudly dispensing unbridled arrogance since 1983.
I really really have to wonder, with both Samuel and Brown leaving, if this has to do with changes to the offense coming under Wilson. I'm sure Curtis will get paid, but I'm guessing he's grading out around the 3rd round right now? Maybe near the bottom of the second? He's not a true receiver right now, so he's a bit of a project. I think he would have had to really blow up for crazy yardage next year, something like 1500+, to substantially improve his stock from here. And I wonder if it became clear to him that he just wouldn't get the touches to do that under Wilson.
I think he will be a pass receiving third down back in the nfl. Simply not big enough to run between the tackles 15-20 times a game and take that pounding. So as quick and athletic as he is, third round pick for use like this seems about right to me.
I don't know why you think changes to the offense to include an OC who has run very prolific offenses at OU and IU would push him to leave. If anything, sounds like a reason to stay to me.

I would think he's more of a slot receiver, no? I imagine all the running stuff he did in college would be once or twice per game trick plays in the pros.

Don't get me wrong, I'm VERY excited about Wilson coming in. I just think the H-back position might see fewer touches with "true" WRs playing a much bigger role. Samuel is neither a possession receiver nor a true deep threat. He's also not an every down back. I think it's plausible that next year he would have lost carries to Weber and receiving targets to Victor/Hill/Mack/any other WR that might emerge. Instead of being the focal point of an offense that still managed to put up 50+ points several times this year he might have been more of a cog in what I expect to be a truly impossible-to-stop offense next year: 2nd or 3rd in receptions/receiving yards, 2nd in carries, ~1000 total yards. We would love having him, but it would do nothing for his draft stock. Why stay in that case?
I've enjoyed watching Samuel play but we can't keep them forever. Next man up. Stay classy Curtis you represented the Buckeyes program at the highest level. Maybe Dobbins or Williams get some more playing time next year.
Here's to hoping you get draft by the Patriots. I couldn't think of a more perfect fit.
5"11, 199. If he has recovered from h.s. injury, and returns to form, my money is on JK Dobbins to play the Samuel position. Could be a mirror image of Samuel. GO BUCKS!!!!
So where does he land in the league, position wise? Hes way too small to be an everydown back + most LB (and most DE) can all get to the corner as quick as he can so its not the college option game anymore. I just wonder what role he fills on a team
Yeah, plays like the winning TD against Michigan are essentially a trick play in the NFL, not bread-and-butter like they have been for OSU. I don't think he's a back at all in the NFL aside from trick plays where any WR might get the ball in the backfield. I think if he's lucky, he develops into a true receiver, almost certainly a #2 receiver given his height. Otherwise he might be a special teams and change of pace guy.
This is exactly why I think his ceiling is the bottom of the 2nd round for a team that knows exactly how to use him.
I am truly blue today. Things were setting up so well for the future but now it's over. I think maybe Urban needs to rethink the types of kids he's getting.
Well earned draft stock.
