Goodness. Sounds like Clemson's D will be ready......I wish some former bucks would throw Urban a bone....
"Life is not about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. THATS HOW WINNING IS DONE!!" - Rocky Ballboa
Two things:(1) Former Ohio State players are still busy in the NFL (2) we have talent on the team that can serve as suitable scout team players
Just... Go Bucks.
only argument I could have against that is our talent on the scout team is unproven. Tajh Boyd is proven at the college level. He may be out of the league, but that does not mean that his services wont be a better simulation of JT Barrett than Clemson's scout team talent. DV me if you like, but I do think this gives Clemson a competitive edge. I'm sure Urban will have our boys ready, but this seems to be a trend now with big programs and I hope OSU gets on board because I think it is a good idea.
Well, Cardale is busy and Braxton is hurt, but maybe they should bring in Joe Bauserman.
Not sure that would help much
I don't think thats fair to Deshawn Watson.
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
Definitely the best post on 11W today- unless you can't detect sarcasm.
I wonder if Bird Dog Bauserman gets on here and sees how everyone thinks he's a turd. #StopTheHate #WeLoveYaJoe
Buckeye players are a little busy in the NFL these days.
Oh... sorry Clemson ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have to disagree. Barrett is a different type of runner. He's not that fast but me makes quick, smart choices. Most importantly, Barrett NEEDS to be on target with his passing. If he can do that then he'll get even more lanes to run, and won't have to run so much. That is seemingly a lot to ask though if this season is any indicator.
I bleed scarlet...literally

Sorry, did we ever play against him? All of my football memories of December 2013 and January 2014 were erased that February.

Wr screen all game lol, we couldn't stop it
We would've had we let Daron Lee, Vonn Bell, and Eli Apple play all season - instead of stashing them away. They all left as redshirt sophomores, so we should've just played them. Who knows how that season would've turned out <knows we would've played FLA st. for the title>...
Edit: What? You don't remember Corey "Pitt" Brown gobbling up snaps that season?
OSU didn't execute and lost to horrible officiating. BOTH things can be true
He's still in my nightmares!
Pitt Brown or Tajh Boyd?
This rule is ridiculous. As are the ones that have 3 former head coaches on the Bama staff as "analysts".
The rosters are big enough with actual students of the university to find practice players to suffice.
Dont we have a former HC as an analyst ourselves? Careful throwing those stones.
I stopped reading at 505 yards of total offense RIP 2013 Defense.
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.
I Believe In Ohio State.
Curtis Grant, Sophomore Joshua Perry rushed into action, C.J. Barnett, Pitt Brown... it was a different era of Buckeye recruiting in 2013.
Now at those positions you have Rakewon McMillan, Jerome Baker, Damon Webb and of course Malik Hooker - Clemson's facing a way different defense in 2016.
Go look at how many guys in the our recruiting class of '13 are already in the NFL. We had the players then - they should've been playing. They left after 3 years anyway, a couple of them redshirt sophomores. Plays these dudes already.
Two names I wish I didn't have to hear ever again: Pitt Brown and CJ Barnett! Just bring back memories of the end of that 2013 season! Darkest times of the Urban Era! Nothing against them personally, just they epitomized that bad defense!
We will fight to the end for OH-IO!
The fact is Barnett and Pitt Brown wouldn't make the 2-deep on the 2016 team. And people forget that while Perry became a very good linebacker here, in 2013 he was not good but the coaching staff rushed him onto the field underdeveloped because we just didn't have anyone else on the roster. Flash forward to 2016 where our linebacker depth is a situation where when Booker goes down with injury we have Jerome freaking Baker sitting behind him. 2013 they're rushing Perry out on the field, 2016 Baker can't get off the bench if not for an injury. Crazy.
This is such a different level of defense talent it's incredible to think about.
We talkin' 'bout practice...
Cool that some teams use former players like this, but color me amped that our scout team athletes still have eligibility.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
We don't really have anyone that could fit that role for us. Unless we convince Pryor to stop by for a few hours....
That is OK by me. Looks like Taj has hit the buffet since 2014. JT is not a burner but he has plenty of game speed. He has more grit than any QB we have had in a very long time. I agree he holds on to the ball too long and steps up too close to the LOS rather than sit in the pocket. Still, for one game, he is my pick to lead us to a victory.
Our people are everywhere, Esto Dignus.
One of JT's best qualities is his decision making. He pulls the ball or hands it off on the read correctly like 95% of the time. Color me excited that they are using someone who threw an inexplicable pick right at our guy with like 3 minutes left in the game as JT. They'll be expecting bad decisions and getting good ones.
One at a time friend.
Lets do this Brutus
OSU just needs to start from the opening kickoff with the mindset of not taking any **** from them. If they hit us hard, we hit back harder. It's football....game on.

You can simulate all you want, there will always be a difference..
Boyd last played against Ohio State in the 2014 Orange Bowl, walking away with 505 yards of total offense and five touchdowns
I prefer to recall a young true Freshman Joey Bosa sacking Boyd for a 9yd loss - and what was to come from him afterwards #selectivememory
Our d now>d then

Maybe they won't be prepared for J Burrow. Something we should keep in mind and should already remember from 2 years ago. Team sport and all...
Go Bucks! TTUN tears are best! Beat Wisky!!!
I second your motion to get Joe Burrow a few series early
“Save yourself and relax during every game. I recommend a fine bourbon.”
Huh? That ain't gonna happen.
You actually think Burrow is going to play? That is funny. The only way that happens is if disaster hits and JT gets hurt.
Did he say Tajh? I thought i heard Raj.

a 26 yr old playing Barrett vs a 19 yr old playing Watson. I think we're good.
Does anyone know whether in December 2013 we used Barrett to play the part of Boyd?
Did they really have to bring in Tajh Boyd to simulate over/underthrowing wide-open targets?
Winning wins Championships.
Wish we had TP plying the role of Watson...oh wait, he's actually playing in the NFL. Go Bucks!!
Time to stop fucking around and play some hard, fast football and leave clemson on the field flat and broken.
"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
How dare they do this - are they trying to actually win this game?
Pass the bourbon
If we're going to win we're going to need a pick six by Hooker.
A few turnovers
this is a ridiculous rule ... also, why would former players want to come back and relive glory days?
If I had to guess, the rule was originally intended for alumni to come back and use the facilities do S&C work with the coaching staff. It was a good way for pro athletes to stay connected to the school, and stay in shape in the offseason.
and tapped former All-American unemployed quarterback Tajh Boyd to play the wily Texan.
