Can we get a Fickell vs. Snyder match before he heads to Cincy?
Yikes, I doubt Fickell would want that matchup
Recruits love Coach Fick - he'll do well in Cincy and hopefully will start his own legacy now that he's been able to witness what it's like to work with one of the best HC's in the history of the game.
After watching that video - Fick doesn't have an ounce of fat on him - rock solid powerhouse.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.

I have a feeling this will affect UK's recruiting more than OSU's.
Absolutely - great point about UK. Let's hope he takes some of the same tactics Urban has shared with him to the Cincy football program. Having him do well would be great.
Spread your wings and grow as a head coach.
Get yours, Fickell.
I season my simple food with hunger
I get what you're saying about Cooper bringing Ohio State back into national relevance, but I will never think of him as a Renaissance man that brought us back. I lived through that shit.
Buckeye forever. He'll be missed.
Man. This departure hurts.
Coach Fick is a Buckeye and Ohio legend.
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.
I Believe In Ohio State.
Although I've been critical of him at times, I've always respected Fickell for what he has done for OSU and the blood, sweat and tears he has shed. I hate to see such a Buckeye mainstay leave but he has more than earned the right to run his own program. Best of luck Coach Fickell. You will be missed, yet always cherished in Columbus. Once a Buckeye...
Luke Fickell. Buckeye born. Buckeye bred.
man that's insane. A pin in under 1 minute in the state final- in a state like Ohio with a TON of wrestling talent. My high school's cross-county rival is Graham, they've won every state title in D-II this millennium, and been crowned national champs twice in that span. Hope he does well at Cinci- just hope he doesn't take too many coaches/staff with him!

"Year for what?"
Bahaha go home Clint, you're drunk. Go Climbers, beat the Falcons :P
I'm proud to be a Buckeye, because he IS Buckeye, and that makes me emotional

No Offense, but exactly WHAT Renaissance did Cooper start? The great record against scUM and/or the great Bowl Record?
I would say cooper spread our recruiting base, where Earle would just go for in state kids, Cooper went to Texas and got David Boston
Successful people do what they have to, whether they feel like it or not
Exactly. While he was terrible vs scUM, he upgraded the talent level by expanding the recruiting base. I believe he was quoted as saying "too many slow white guys" after he had a chance to evaluate his new squad once he became coach. Ohio State hadn't really been nationally relevant in some time. Twice his teams finished ranked #2 in the country and often his teams were seen as legit title contenders.(usually till we played TTUN)
In addition to Boston out of Texas, he recruited Michael Wiley and Ken-Yon Rambo out of CA. A lot of the stars on the '02 team were recruited by Cooper. The cupboard was pretty bare when he arrived. By the time he was let go, he left the program in much better shape than when he came in.
So you never actually watched any 8 & 4 Bruce coached teams then?
I certainly didn't watch any "8 & 4 Bruce coached teams".
It seemed they were always 9 & 3.

BNY. you would have to remind us.
With Bruce it was a steady stream of B+
With Cooper is was manic-depressive; A+ and then D- for Michi and the bowl games.
Excellent fit and opportunity for him. I now have a second favorite team. Hopefully he is very successful and can return home once Urban retires in 2055
Damn, someone please stop cutting onions. #ThankYouFickell

...Fickell has worn the crown and the crown of thorns.
Nicely done. (Feel like could be a pull-quote.)
Excited for Fickell and the Queen City. Coach Fickell will remind some of the forgetful people down here that it's Cincinnati, OHIO.

Sorry Kentucky you will no longer be getting the 4 stars we can't sign.
We were born to love Ohio State and hate that team up north.
That was my second thought (first was I hope he coaches through the playoffs). Cincinnati's classes will consist of the top 5-8 players than normally sign with UK, 2 of MSU's top 5 recruits, and about 1 player per midlevel B1G team.
Good luck to coach Fickell as he has been a Great Buckeye for many years!
He gets UC to a Group of 5 Bowl a few times he will make himself a candidate for our job when Urban retires. If he fails he wont. It's that simple.

Plus one or two ND commits per year.
I wrestled for 6 years while in Jr. High and High School, all the way up to my Senior year. I cannot imagine also playing Football, just the Wrestling was so much work, so much time. Fickell going 108-0 and not liking it as much as football is really amazing, especially because he was recognized as a super star as a wrestler.
Theire is only one truth...
Good luck Coach. Hope you win them all (unless it's against TOSU)
He gets a chance to beat the skunk weasels' in his second game next season up in AA.......
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
Mahalo Ramzy, I had no idea Fickell was such a fantastic wrestler!
Use the Force, Luke.
Luke Fickell is and always has been a class act... I want to relate a personal story about Coach Fickell.
In 2006 or 2007 we took our son (who was then like 5 or 6 years old) to an event here in Columbus, and part of the draw was supposed to be some Buckeye players (it was a Turkey Trot run). The race was ended and we were starting toward the parking lot, and our son was a little bummed because hadn't seen any Buckeye players. Nearby I saw Luke Fickell standing and talking to a group of 9 or 10 people, some of whom seemed like personal friends of his. I told my son to wait a second and that I would see if maybe he could meet Coach Fickell. We stood back from the group and I tried to unobtrusively indicate that a young fan was hoping to say hi... He looked over and then noticed my son. When he saw the little boy, he immediately asked the group of people to excuse him for a moment. He walked over, introduced himself, and took a knee and talked with my son for literally 10 or 15 minutes... asking him questions and taking time to make a little kid feel pretty special.
Coach Fickell went above the call that day... it's always been a meaningful memory for my son & I. Sorry to see him go... UC is lucky to have him.
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
First time hearing (reading) Fickell was injured for the '97 Rose.
That's a damn tough dude.
Sad to see him go, but appreciate everything he's given to TOSU.
Got M...igan gossip? Bang it here.
That's because Fickell isn't just from Columbus, he is Columbus. And Columbus will miss him dearly.
Hopefully Luke's sojourn in Cincy will be last leg of the journey that gets him back to his rightful destination.
Most excellent and evocative writing, Ramzy.

Wow never knew Fickell was such a legend as a highschool wrestler. Seems like he had Olympic level natural talent as a wrestler, crazy that it wasn’t even his favorite sport.
Fickell is a true Buckeye soldier. He'll do a great job at Cincy. Fickell vs Harbaugh week 2 next season.
