Funny how often the glitz and glamour of smut-peddling get in the way of the facts.  Another great piece, Ramzy.

Ramzy's writing is far too factual to be considered journalism.  How about a few anonymous sources and more innuendo?

+100   It is truly scary how the spotlight of media scrutiny can be pointed so haphazardly at an individual who may be completely innocent.  The media can ruin lives, and they don't seem to take that responsibility very seriously any more.  Shameful...

+1,000,000.  Ramzy is better than most "newspeople" journalists, both in writing and research.

I'm talking the whole media here.

Investigative journalism like this is too much work for Sports by Brooks or ESPN and doesn't fit their narratives. Well done.

HS

Well done.
Reminds me of Bruce Hooley tweeting of what an injustice it was that the NCAA never called Talbott. Outside people ripped 97.1 The Fan for firing him, but honestly he's a bigger hack than Criag James. I've since unfollowed him because I don't want to support his "journalist" career and only followed him when he got fired.

Excellent piece, Ramzy. As you discovered, you were looking in the wrong places for the "shadowy figures," who were/are much more present among the halls of eSECpn and the NCAA than they ever were around the Woody Hayes complex.

I'll say it once again, as it bears repeating: of all the mistakes and/or acts of bad faith associated with this ongoing episode, by far the most despicable ones have been perpetrated by the tabloid sports media. The NCAA is a corrupt organization, but at least the NCAA suits believe that their overriding mission is worthy, however Orwellian their means of achieving it. In contrast, some of the turds over at eSECpn are flat out worthless human beings. On behalf of Dennis Talbott, they can go suck it.

HS

Agreed.

For as ridiculous as the NCAA can be the majority of the time, it is instances like this where I give them so much credit for not giving a sh*t what anyone else thinks because what everyone else thinks is usually sh*t.

Ramzy, it appears as if Talbott's name has been and is still being desecrated in the tabloid sports journals.  He says he is waiting for his innocense to be proven.  My question is this:

Does anyone here think for one second, given how sports journalism (currently) works in this country, that Talbott will have his name cleared even if his innocense is proven?

Once ESPiN has written a defamatory article, or taped a hit-piece, how often do they produce a retraction down the line.  And even when they do, is it noticed by as many people?  In other words, is it front-page, or written in small letters, and only up for a day?

I feel for Dennis Talbott, because I fear that no matter his innocense, he will always be answering questions and facing misguided vitriol, due to the wanton largess of ratings-hungry trash tabloids, such as ESPiN and SI.

Ramzy, that automator was hilarious! Leave it to scUM to be so well informed, those little guys are just so bright. Great pics too. totally delivering what the people have asked for. I've thought, since Talbott's name was introduced, that he was a very weak target. I'm not a legal person, but I hope that he and his attorney has a contingent plan if/when his name is cleared that he is in a position to gather a nice defamation settlement from the swine that is ESPiN.

Great article! Funny how you were able to ascertain this info from him with such ease. How hard would it have been for espin to simply do their research to find the facts? Tabloid sports should not be treated as credible.

When you see  RAMZY NASRALLAH'S byline on SI (or the like), you'll remember him when, for this post.

Maybe we should tone down our praise...just to keep him around for a little while, longer.

But do we think Ramzy would really forgo journalistic integrity just to work at ESPN or SI?

It's like people only do these things because they can get paid. And that's just really sad.

I don't buy that the media has more shady characters than what are walk around WHAC, it's just that the truly shady ones don't get caught.  They get in trouble for other things or someone pisses them off and they run to the likes of ESPN or Yahoo to spill their guts to the world.

This guy was just collateral damage from this shit storm.  His hands are tied, and he can't sue the people who pay him for his work.  Sad thing is, it seems Ramsey was able to write this post off of a few phone calls, emails, and a Google search.  OTL could've easily shelved this piece, but it was about Ohio State, which means ratings, so tabloid journalism rules in the end.

right, these sob's are one step above ed fife on the integrity ladder.  they should be sued.   espn has so many shady motives underneath just producing sportscenter and broadcasting games    espn = entertainment and shady sports reporting network.

I have enough information to write a story like this on Kniffin. All of it was given to me off the record, so there won't be a story.

Kniffin is different from Talbott.  He had to pull his kids out of school and move away. You may hear from him again.

I think that we can all go off the record at ETB2 over some Oval beer.

This is a GREAT journalistic piece--aside from the fact that Dennis is STILL lying.  Partly because many people, including myself, know for a fact that he has done many of the things he is accused of.
I have personally seen him pull this crap.
I am embarrassed to have him as a part of the Ohio State Buckeye fan base.  I'd much rather him root for the mighty Golden Flashes of Kent State--I mean, at least he went to school there for a term or two--even if he was kicked out.
Dude is a scumbag.

If you are reading this DT....PLEASE, GO AWAY.

I think reading 34 pages of the NCAA sanction report will sum up everything for those with doubts. Please take note that my name was not mentioned. I never received a call from the NCAA. They didn't need too- I remained compliant with Ohio State and the athletic department. I was collateral damage in a massive witch hunt. In the end, I remained loyal to Buckeye Nation, the athletes, and the program. It did, however, make for interesting reading each day in June. So many "I know a guy, who know a guy, that saw Talbott hit tressel with a candlestick in the Library". Go Bucks!!! Thank you Eleven Warriors for reporting the facts. Oh yea, the tpryor license plate was for a tailgate van driven 6 times a year. The plan was to change the plate every 4 years to honor a new player. To do again, I prob would not make that choice. :)

You've been a member for over 12 weeks, and this is your first post, so you might actually be Dennis Talbott.

But I'm still skeptical. Is there anything you can tell us about yourself that perhaps may be able to confirm you are indeed Dennis Talbott?

I'd repost this comment to a current article if you want it to be read by 11W readers... which I assume you do.

Geee...thanks for remaining "loyal" to Buckeye Nation, the players, etc...--we're SO lucky to have you bring this negative press and idiot moves.

Unfortunately, there are WAY too many people who know Talbott directly and the crap he has pulled in the past.  Not "a guy, that knows a guy, that knows a guy who knows Talbott.""

Here is a follow up story for both 11W and 97.1 The Fan...
DT says that he's never been into buying memorabilia INCLUDING rings when asked directly on 97.1 The Fan radio show--THEN ask about Lydel Ross and his "family member" who stole his Championship Ring (as reported by 10TV News a couple years back.)  Wonder who could have really bought that ring and who the family member is.  He he is trying to clear his name and then continues to lie.  The line of people who have proven dirt on this dude wraps around the corner.  Ross may have been an alumni at the time--but a complete lie.

Word to wise: when you burn bridges, keep a low profile.

I know he is lying...which is why it disgust me to the gills being an ACTUAL alumni--not someone who claims to be.  Seeing people like DT ruin the reputation of Ohio State football is something that every true fan/alumni must deal with and defend. It p!sses me off to no end that one dude can poison the water hole and leave a long lasting black eye on my school.  If I ever heard this dude recite Carmen Ohio! I might puke where I stand.

GO BUCKS!

HS
DJayTalbott's picture

Lol! Well, some bridges are worth burning. I guess I could have done a million things wrong in my past. However, the proof is in the pudding. I had ZERO to do with bad publicity and the NCAA sanctions. I could sit and point fingers or take the mid six figure book deal that was offered. However, to what end? Those that know me, know that I am a dedicated father and friend. The past is just that! Thank god for today- it's a gift and that's why it's called the present. Thanks again to friends and family!!
