Top o the morning to you
Success - it's what you do with what you've got. - Woody Hayes
And to you, Rocket Man! Just saw my first green painted bar patron on TV as they opened at 6 am. Cleveland will be crazy today.
“Don’t fear criticism. The stands are full of critics. They play no ball. They fight no fights. They make no mistakes because they attempt nothing. Down on the field are the doers, they make mistakes because they attempt many things.”
I'm Irish, but I'm not a leprechaun....
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
"The magic word's rock n' roll, Man!"
Hope I didn't offend you, FC. Was just trying to show how diverse "Irish" really is and how connected it is, and has been, for decades, if not centuries. Your vid is another example i wasn't familiar with.
Happy St. Pat's!
No offense taken. The whole Irish thing was part of House of Pain's shtick and the first line is a quote from another one of their songs. As far as the Dennis Leary rant goes, he just happened to be in the video for the song.
Cool. Joke flew right by me.
Nellie, in regards to our fretless bass conversation the other day, check out the post from Hodge farther down in today's thread. In the first song he posted by Lisa Hunnigan at the 1:18 mark you'll see what I mean about people marking their bass.
What?! Those weren't mother of pearl inlays?
Good eye, FC. Thanks.
Again very topical of you WN and nicely done. I approve the included Dropkick Murphys' video, it is quite amusing and has been sometime since I have seen that. Tip of the cap to ya.
So I don't think they are actually Irish but how about some Celtic style metal:
CLE - Where we "wait till next year" every year
Thanks Sparty. I like that band, even if they're Swiss. Bands in this genre often cite Horslips as their inspiration. Here's some Celtic metal for ya. Braveheart head banging.
Glad you like them WN, I never know how the harder stuff is going to go over. That little diddy that you posted isn't too bad either.
Some of us love the harder stuff. I say just throw it up there. There's really only on person on here that's gonna talk shit anyway.
And he's so stoned on patchouli he won't remember anyway.
You don't get stoned on patchouli. It just covers up the stench. Fucking rookie
But, that might be the best tune you've ever posted!
Patchouli doesn't cover the stench. It is the stench.
It's really good for blocking out "songs" with too much cowbell, as well
Good to know Chaddie, I will be sure to keep them coming then when I see an opportunity/good tie in.
John, speaking of the harder stuff any chance we will some day see the return of the SMS?
I miss the SMS but my technical issues remain. My computer at home shuts off whenever it feels like it and that makes writing and posting very difficult. Until I get a new one I am unable to reliably produce quality SMS material.
Pretty unreliable to do that, anyway.
I kid. I kid, metalheads. Don't get your black leather panties all bunched up.
Gotcha. That's definitely a bummer but until you can get those technical issues resolved I will wait some what patiently till the day of that the SMS makes it glorious return.
Talk snark. Talk snark.
Oh yeah, shut up... :-)
That's just bea-u-tif-ul! LOL
How did the list go this far without Flogging Molly?
edit: Miserable fail on the video embed.
Got 'em listed in the Celtic Punk group, BD. Here's your embed. G'day to ya!
Crap missed it. Been a rough morning. Thanks for the embed
God, that brings me back. Seen 'em at the LC three times now. What a live band!
Nice one, JCLP. You helped me decide on today's avatar with this one.
Right on, glad to see you back around. Hope you're not working too hard.
Yeah, one more person to talk snark with. Good day to be nonFat, nonFat...
I'm not sure this is Irish, but it's green in color and the song just fits.
I read the Pogues but immediately thought of the Poggs, a band from Fayetteville, AR, that I listened to when I lived there.
The Pogues = the funeral wake song on 'The Wire'
"Question of the day: Does anyone find whining to be attractive? Just curious." - Jimmy H
Bringing out the unknowner's to most.
I'm starting to like you...
Don't try too hard. I will be sure to disappoint you soon.
Yep, he'll be bummed that the lead singer is wearing a vest and not shirtless. That's a great tune, by the way.
If ya smoke too much Fat, ya just might be a confused nonFat.
I prefer my dancers to have long blond hair with flowery sundresses (and nada else), and hairy armpits. Not shirtless dancin trippin dudes, with or without hairy chests, black leather and tats.
Grateful, have you heard of this project?: http://dayofthedeadmusic.com/
I have not. Thank you.
I'll have to give it a listen. Will probably make for a stellar TIMH all on its own.
Many have covered this song...
Anybody ever catch the Thistle and Shamrock show on NPR? I have stumbled upon it a few times and always listened longer than I'd have expected. http://thistleradio.com/
No, but I have seen these guys on PBS. And I did listen longer than I thought I would.
Here's THE BEST Irish Band in Cleveland. John and Alec are both ex-pats from Ireleand that re-located in Cleveland. John was a member of the original and famous Barleycorn in Ireland.
And below is my favorite original song written by Alec.
Ako ne možete postavljati bez gluposti ... nemojte
Ako vièeš na suce, ti si šupak
Thanks Todd! Nice to "see" you. Thought of you and NB when I wrote this thread.
Great topic today, Whoa. Liked the mention of Stiff Little Fingers and the Undertones especially. So many Undertones songs to choose from but here's one with a little Irish jig to it.
And one of the first 'punk' songs I ever listened to and later played when I was in college.
Thanks LY. Been listening to them for awhile now. Like 'em a lot.
Here's something a little softer, Lisa Hannigan. She used to play with Damien Rice, but now she's doing her own thing, and it's pretty sweet (if you're into folksy stuff). Here's her in a pub:
Here's her covering Iron and Wine.
Aaaaand here's her covering Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog". Haunting as all hell (it really starts to pick up around 1:35).
Nice, Hodge. I hadn't heard Lisa Hannigan before. She has one of those voices the you can just get lost in. I'm definatly going to check out more of her stuff.
Yeah, she's really cool. Her first record, Sea Sew, was pretty choice. Still haven't really listened to her sophomore album, Passenger, but I've heard good things. Definitely worth a spin or two. "Lille" and "Ocean and a Rock" are definitely worth your time.
I had forgotten about Damien Rice. His album "O" was excellent.
Oh, don't ask why
Moya Brennan has one of the most soulful voices on the planet. Could listen to her sing for hours. But, the songs sound so sad I'd have to kill myself at the end.
Here's to you Whoa Nellie
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Seattle Sounders 2019 MLS Champions
Ah, Harp, my favorite lager. Thanks SL.
Next round is on me.
We better have Uber on stand bye
I know we had some Van Cherone, but in the spirit of the holiday (and a dearly missed active TIMH):
Hindsight is, and in, 2020

Happy St Patricks day from Dublin to all my Buckeye brethren! Have a good one!
Fixed the links for your St. Patrick's Day, Buckeye basketball feast! KB-D Go Bragh!
“Megadeth >>> Metallica” - Alum 2019. I couldn’t agree more.
Hope you have been doing well WN. Have seen you around these parts much lately.
Hi Sparty! Peek in most days. Been good, and busy. Re-did the old school music room. Refurbished the old turntable and brought the vinyl back. What a blast. Edison must be getting big.
Very nice! I got a TT last year and have spent the past year working on my setup. What kind of table did you refurb? The little guy is getting big. Crazy how fast they grow. I am thinking though we need to get together at some point and spin some records.
I'm up for that any time. TT is a 1970s vintage Dual 1019.
I'll have to look that one up and check it out. I haven't kind of gone down the rabbit hole with that stuff. And we will definitely have to figure out a time to get together and spin some.
Very nice Bump WN - hope all is well
Thanks SL -- same to you. Top 'o the mornin'!
Golf season is around the corner - you must be getting ready
Yeah, I'm warming up by watching Tiger's comeback. lol
He has his haters and justifiably so but I have been watching him since he was a Stanford and he's still intriguing when he's right.
Not a tiger fan and never have been. I have quite thoroughly enjoyed watching his fall. My dislike is legit though cause when he first started out I was on team Duval.
Which Duval team were you on ................... skinny or fat??
Original team Titleist Duval with the badass shades and completely stoic expression.
True story, only time I ever watched a complete round of golf on TV was the final round of the British open that he won.
He had all the skills from tee to green but his mental game is was caused him to self deflate.
A day with music is a good day indeed.
May the TIMH road rise to meet you...
