Obviously I would be happy for whomever wins that RG spot but I am really pulling for Knox to be our starter come game one. A fellow 11w member and contributer.
pulling for Knox
it is funny how you said it like that because I think Knox will be the starter and become the best pulling guard in college football. Granted in HS, Knox could maul someone as a run blocker so bad he would drive the guy 10 yards deep. I know the article says Burrell is a really good pulling OL but I think Knox has elite talent as a pulling guard. He has powerful hands that can drive a defender off his spot. It will depend on how well he has gotten as a pass blocker.
I like all three and may the best man win but I think Knox can be a special player.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
With Urban at the command and Warinner and Studrawa coaching up the line and Marotti leading the "Winter of Development" I have great confidence in whomever trots out against BGSU. I want to see the Slobs tradition and dominance continued and even elevated.
Looks to be the best position battle come spring, also thinking it's Big Meechy's time.
Studrawa has a challenge in breaking in two new tackles and a right guard, but he sure has talent to work with.
I had to run away high, so I wouldn't come home low...
Looking forward to Elflein and the new slobs opening up holes, that "speedy tephlon wizards" will run through, and make opposing defensive coordinators quake in fear!

Those are some rather impressive options to have at guard. Let's put it this way - depth shouldn't be an issue - no matter what -

I just cannot see Burrell not being an impact player next year, seems a charismatic player with tremendous talent.
and what evidence did you uncover to back this claim??....... he wasn't even on the 2 deep last season... Knox or Lisle will start
Brutus is........The People's Champ!!!!
well he was a "true" freshman last year and needed to hit the weights while the guards were rather deep already. Him not being on the 2 deep last season has nothing to do with his potential in 2016.
If you think Burrell won't have some affect on this team, then you are mistaken. And the above did mention something that has been a big part of why Urban wanted Burrell, he has an infectious personality that will lead others. He will be a future leader on this team, when is the question.
ZZZzzzzZZZZzzz you done yet??... first off... guys like Jamarco, Prince....were true freshmen as well and were on the 2 Deep, because they were that good...for whatever reasons Pat wasn't good enough... and guess what buddy... the guys ahead of him.... they hit the weights too.....and infectious personality means sh!t if you aren't better than the guys already ahead of you..and to be an impact player, you have to actually get on the field.. chances are the older guys win the job... a guy like Lisle, who's been in the program for a few years and who's body is far more matured... why else would a guy like Chase start at right tackle.... I believe your mistaken
"he will be a future leader on the team. When is the question." in this, he is not mistaken
you sure about that?? how bout we see if he gets on the field first... then we'll talk
Remember how everybody said rod smith was the next eddie George....or ray small was the next teddy ginn... yeah we're all still waiting... good one
yea, fucking troll someone else, good one
that was weak dude...
My impression was always that Meechy would take over at LG and Burrell at RG. Obviously, things rarely go according to plan, and only RG is open. It would be interesting to see Meechy start at RG this year and switch to LG when it's open, similar to Decker from RT to LT.
I'm really torn on who to root for regarding the starting guard positions. I know Price is returning, so I assume he's got that locked down going into the spring. However, I really want Burrell and Knox on the field at the same time. Their ceiling is so high, but I know Price has given the program a lot over the last 2 years. Either way, the interior of the line should definitely be a strength of the team this year. #FreeMeechy

We always look at the recruits with the biggest Booms. Could be a player like Bradly Taylor breaks out into the starting line up. I like that a new coach will give them all a shot. By the time we face Oklahoma, they will be ready.
Im glad that Pat and Billy are both returning. I know we also have a bunch of young guns ready to make an impression as well. Does anyone think price has a chance at some DT time as well? I would never want to loose a starting slob but Price was a bad bad boy at DT in HS. Just a thought since we seem to be a bit concerned with DT depth? Well, those sc UM coaches know how to land on their feet after a DUI.
NBD, would of been more impressive if he stuck the landing.

Seems like a long time ago Meechy sat atop the leaderboard.
Obviously, I'm pulling for Meechy but it is comforting to know we have young options ready to step up and fill the shoes of the outgoing slobs.
Are we showing bias if we're pulling for our very own in Meechy to win teh job?
If the LT play, whomever that ends up being, is solid I think this line actually has a chance to be better than the last 2 years. That's a big if, tho. Decker was excellent and will be difficult to replace at a similar level. Center and RT have chance to actually be upgraded, imo. But that remains to be seen, I guess. These guys all have the credentials to be very good.
As much as I liked Boren, I think talentwise Elflein is an upgrade to Boren at center. Having a really talented guy manning the middle will be a huge difference. Throw in a guard who can pull really well (Knox or Burrell) and I expect the RB and JT to have ample running room.
Very well stated and I'm in complete agreement, SM. What JB lacked in talent he made up for with desire and toughness and I admire him. Bigger, more physical players were tough for him and I don't expect to see that as much now. Penetration in the middle is a bitch.
yeah, I meant to add that Boren was a tough as nails competitor and no slouch. He just didn't have the size and high level talent. I do hope he finds a way into an NFL lineup much like Corey Lindsey did at Green Bay, someone who also was said to not be an elite center and is doing very well.

Is that a subtle jab at the rest of us 11W members? I'm not saying my 5'10", 200 lbs, 45 year old body will be a starting slob next year, but...who are you to discount the rest of us?
With plenty of exercise and a good chiropractor, you'd have a shot.....
WAIT. What about Kyle Trout? The other "forgotten" guy?!
May the BEST GUARD win!!!
Damn- may actually make the 9hr drive up for the Spring game.. with all battles goin on!
I would not be surprised to see all three guys get some PT at Guard. It would be a great way to build depth, prepare for 2017 and beyond and keep a lot of great players happy and motivated. I would add Taylor, Trout, Schmidt, Feder and Bowen to the list by the way. Coach Studrawa will have to make some tough decisions, but better that than having no choices.
