Ezekiel Elliott Says He'll Enter the NFL, Blasts Ohio State's Playcalling

Two touches in the second half.  I wonder why we lost....

HS

If I wasn't a rational person, I would even go as far as to say that this game was intentionally thrown.  I don't get how anyone at this level of play in sports, especially Urban damn Meyer, can consistently draw up the same awful plays after seeing them get us nowhere for all 4 quarters of the game.  I'm not saying it WAS intentionally thrown because I am a rational person, but a less rational person watching this game would probably believe it was intentional.  It was that bad.

HS
DefendYoungstown's picture

But, just what if this is a master plan being put in place by Urban cause he now knows he F'd up by hiring Beck.  Could it be that he stuck with Cardale for the majority of the season season hoping for a loss (to place blame on Beck) and it never happened.  Just the play calling has been so different from what we saw last season, how can you not throw on a poor MSU secondary today (don't even tell me JT can't pass the ball, he threw for 300 yards last season in East Lansing)!!!  When has an Urban Meyer player ever spoken out against the coaching staff, you had 2 guys declare for the draft today????  This team is imploding and that doesn't happen to Urban Meyer coached teams.  There's too much weird shit going on, I think this is all being put in place by Urban as ammunition to pull the trigger on Beck and not make him look like he's going back on his decision to hire him. There is too much talent on this team to have a performance of 130 yards total, something smells like a rat I say.

What we can't do in the air we'll do on the ground.

HS
NapervilleBuck's picture

Really?  Urban was hoping that Beck would F up and was giving him enough rope to do is so he could fire him?  I think you tin foil hat is a little tight.

Really don't think this game decided it for Zeke. Didn't you think he was crying during the National Anthem because he knew it was his last game in The Shoe?

We all understand his frustration. 11 Sparty defenders within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, and we did nothing to loosen things up. We could have run Zeke into that wall a dozen more times, but it wouldn't have changed a thing.

“Don’t fear criticism. The stands are full of critics. They play no ball. They fight no fights. They make no mistakes because they attempt nothing. Down on the field are the doers, they make mistakes because they attempt many things.”

So you throw gap schemes, and throw it to him on the outside.  Also WTF a golf ball sized cyst and no one noticed that earlier.  Zeke Elliot played his heart out - and as suspected Beck sucks.  Good luck Zeke tear it up in the NFL.

Nellie, that is what I said to my son.  When the shot of Zeke was on the screen, I said to my son, "This is Zeke's last game in the 'Shoe.  Why else would he be crying like that."

God bless you, Zeke, and best of luck to you young man.  If I had a daughter, I would be damn proud to have you as a son-in-law.

Teams have done this (load box) the entire season against us and our offensive staff never adjusted.  They never did a thing to get our passing game going in a consistent fashion.  That's just pathetic coaching and Meyer knows it.  I've never seen him so upset after a loss.  He is upset because like a lot of people with that program, he got unfocused.

Why would there be a link? It was quotes we obtained firsthand from the postgame presser. It's true, the video was added after we had it uploaded, but supporting quotes were in the original piece.

I don't think you understand what clickbait means.

BuckeyePoetLaureate's picture

I consider myself the clickbait police and this was not clickbait.  First of all, the quote from EZE is a big story in itself and deserves to be reported.  11W staff didn't lie or exaggerate about what it said.  Second, 11W is a news site...but the commentariat is a big part of why we all come here.  On a Saturday evening after a depressing loss, we all want to talk about what happened.  (Or we want to cry about what happened.)

Not to mention that the overworked and underpaid 11W staff updates with things like the video of EZE all the time.  You don't see that on ntertainment4u.com, where all they do is report that someone else reported that someone else reported that Kylie Jenner tweeted about Tyga hugging her on her birthday.

I agree completely.  There is no excuse at all for our offensive coaching staff never addressing much less doing anything in our passing game to get defenses to stop stuffing the box.

HS
OSUBias's picture

No, it wasn't. Zeke averaged like 3 yards a carry. The offense didn't execute. The playcalling was incredibly predictable and bad, but the players had chances and didn't execute either. This was a top to bottom loss.

HS
JaRule's picture

LOL how was the players put in a position to execute when they ran the same plays over and over and over and over and over again? How could you execute when your best player touches the ball twice in the second half? And then you still run the same plays lol all coaches brother....don't be blind

85 Yards Through The Heart Of The South

HS
OSUBias's picture

Coaching put Bosa offsides 3 times on 3rd and long and gave them easy conversions. Coaching made Mije Thomas drop the ball for the first time this season (like 3 times). Coaching made JT overthrow Braxton who was wide open. Coaching caused a huge 3rd down blown coverage by Apple. Like I said, everyone is to blame. Bad coaching bad execution bad everything.

HS
JaRule's picture

No lol just bad coaching..They need to teach Bosa to not do that then....the weather made Thomas drop the ball honestly....and what's the excuse for not giving Zeke the ball in the second half or running JT in a QB draw 50 times in a row.....or only throwing 40 yard passes or the same play of passes behind the line of scrimmage? The same plays all year long that obviously didn't work with our offensive production against poor teams

Edit- Downvote me all you want but the boos that happened this year when we couldn't do anything on offense were because of the playcalling....not the players and that's why everyone is saying the coaches are at fault right now. We were lucky to play against mediocre teams until we met a good one today and got exposed....well the coaching got exposed

85 Yards Through The Heart Of The South

HS
onewiseburdman's picture

Yes it did, because coaching should have settled them all down.  Coaching should have changed the same play being called over and over again.  Coaching would have said that's okay we are still going deep even if we missed one.  Coaching would have not put Apple to be up on the line over and over again.  Stacking the box would have forced them to open it up and then apple could have gone man on man.  Coaching would have made serious adjustments at the half.  So yes coaching caused the piss poor execution.

Do you smell what the burd/an is cooking?

HS
DefendYoungstown's picture

OSUBIAS - BOSA put himself offside 3 times NOT the coaches, Joey is in control of his body not the coaches.

What we can't do in the air we'll do on the ground.

so, if we run the ball 4 straight plays with an average of 3 yards, that's 12.  and a 1st down.

the problem is we didn't try it enough in the 2nd half.  and if you're thinking it's because he's hurt, put someone else in.  why is it that we have the best recruiter in football but we only have 1 RB and 1 WR but 3 QBs?  I love Marshall, but he drops the ball way too much.  he shouldn't be a go-to receiver... we need more players like Thomas, Spencer or Smith.  True WR.

if you have 1 of the all time greats is OSU history at RB, then why not use him?  or why not try a different running play?  it's like we only use Zeke up the middle, JT off tackle and Brax on the sweep... Zeke should be getting the ball up the middle, off tackle and on the outside.

Holy strawman.

He was never saying it was as bad as living in Syria.

It can still be a bad day, and NOT be as bad as living in Syria.

HS
andretolstoy's picture

He said awful. Awful is pretty bad.

It's college football.

Part my angst here is the fact that you guys are defending a kid who bad mouth his coach on National TV.

What Zeke said shouldn't be celebrated on this forum, I don't care how "great" he is.

Another part of my problem here is that the reporter saw how disappointed Zeke was and he set him up to make this embarrassing mistake.

Yeah, airing dirty laundry in the media rarely is the smart play. Zeke is young and emotional, so I understand.

When he gets interviewed during the Draft process, teams will bring this up. He'll learn quickly that NFL teams really won't put up with this.

People react differently when you're conditioned to winning and defeat is consumed. I remember The Wisconsin game in 2003 up in Madison when Robert Reynolds choked out Sorgi. there is good and bad in this situation when it comes to recruits.  if you're a WR or D lineman/LB, as a recruit, you can tell yourself... "wow, they could use a player like me to catch the ball or make a stop on some of these run plays..."

HS
KBonay's picture

A loss always tests a team. Last year, it was a catalyst. And could be what we needed to finish the season strong. But comments like this hurt team and hurt recruiting. I agree 100% with what he is saying. But take the high road.

HS
onewiseburdman's picture

Why - he spoke the truth, and he spoke what everyone in the nation was thinking - including NFL recruiters, this loss could have cost them all some serious money.  I would speak my mind and I'm glad he did as well.

Do you smell what the burd/an is cooking?

HS
popeurban's picture

To address why:

thus is not how an organization should be run IMO. This is not how we handled adversity last year, and in light of articles about Florida falling apart because of discipline eroding, I'm sure Urban does not love this. Again, agree with what Zeke said, just not in public.

HS
onewiseburdman's picture

To address you.  Good thing you don't run an organization.  I do - and I can tell you that it shouldn't get to this point.  That means that the coaching staff hasn't been listening all year.  Beck and Warinner and potentially Meyer weren't listening.  If would fire all my directors the next day if I had an employee come out and have to say it on national television.  My company might not be huge - but 50 folks isn't small either.

Do you smell what the burd/an is cooking?

HS
popeurban's picture

It wasn't meant as an attack, sorry you took it that way, I was only trying to clearly address your point.  Im sure your organization is more successful that Urban's- as I was just articulating a point he has made before about successful organizations handling adversity in a certain manner.

I totally agree that what the coaches did tonight was borderline criminal but I really would have preferred he not say this. So here is the thing - the last time he spoke out changes were made.  He deserves to speak his mind - and recruiting be damned - he plays for a team that earns millions of dollars off guys like himself and the rest of this team.  Clearly they don't listen to him, and the rest of his team.  He was right, we moved the ball once really well and the rest of the play calling was absolutely horrible.  We should have wiped the floor with Sparty.  It's not like this is some giant secret.

aaaannndd..... it all starts to unravel.

The locker room and team unity that made last year so special is clearly gone.  This has been a team that had an "L" destined for it for a long time.

The coaches have not mixed in nearly enough young and hungry talent with the older guys during the year, IMO.

HS

Agreed. There's a lot of frustration in the locker room and it's not just from that one game.

Zeke has absolutely nothing to be sorry about for tonight. Can't blame a kid who was completely omitted from the offensive game plan. One more game, then go get paid young man.

I don't think so.  You don't put up 150 yards or whatever of offense, look like total crap, in November, against the first ranked team you play all year, and think you can get back in there.  We are OUT, even if we get to the B10 Championship and beat an undefeated Iowa.

HS

Yes, OSU is pretty much eliminated from the playoffs, but beating that team next week, possibly still playing for the B1G cahampionship & a great bowl game regardless is plenty to play for. You might be a spoiled fan if you think the season is over or pointless.

Dude I've been saying this since his hire.  He stunk up the joint in Nebraska.  Really it's time for multiple coaches to go.  I personally believe they deserve the scrutiny.  When you are paid millions of dollars - your team, coaching included should perform.  We ultimately pay their salaries.  Zeke and his team mates make millions of dollars for the Ohio State University - not to mention the many thousands I paid them while I attended.  It was obvious all year something wasn't right.  There is no scandal for those that are concerned.  Just shit coaching.

He has a right to be angry. The game plan/play calling looked like it was designed by preschooler. There will be some major shake ups on offense next year. With all that being said Zeke was not coming back anyway but I hate to see it announced like this

If nothing changes, (which it hasn't all year) Michigan will stack the box and shut the Bucks down just like MSU did.

Nobody thinks Bucks have a passing game (rightfully so) and will play the run and stack the box the entire game!  Obviously it works.

I tip my Hat to Sparty for a well coached game. It's seems their coaching staff wanted it more!  I feel bad for our players, so much talent and didn't even attempt to use it!

O-line, it's time to step it up, you got blown off the ball tonight! Michigans Defense is not going to be any easier for you!

HS
McPeek91's picture

I can't even express in words how I feel about the offensive play calling its been an issue all year defense did an awesome job for 40 minutes of play I'm just dumbfounded at the play calling I think you would be hard pressed to find a ten year old that couldn't have came up with a better game plan

HS
BMOC_57's picture

The defense played really good early. The offense continued going 3 and out and eventually they wore down. MSU had no threat of the pass either. I'm still baffled how we couldn't adjust to stop them.

HS
McPeek91's picture

The penalties hurt and not getting stops when we had momentum working our way was disheartening but playing 40 minutes and only giving up 17 points is amazing in my opinion and the lack of touches for Zeke is completely mind boggling if you want to run the ball every play at least give it to the best guy on your team and maybe in the country and running the ball

HS
andretolstoy's picture

Zeke needs to take a breather. Infections kill people, young people. His coach was looking after his health.

If you want to run the ball and don't want to try passing at least run with arguably the best runner in the country and definitely the most physical runner on the team wear them down at least Zeke would have gave the run game a chance it wasn't about his health just poor play calling

HS
bd2999's picture

Infections can kill people, if he was cleared to play than he was cleared to play. If he was in danger he would have been out from the get go.

I do not get the last line at all. He did not say much of anything. He said he thought he should have more carries and he was not sure what the coaches were seeing. How is that giving an attitude? That he would be gone after this year is shocking to nobody. And given the high emotion of this game for him it probably felt right. Does not mean he is going to quit on anybody.

Buckeyefan3806's picture

Let be realistic. Tim Beck was at Nebraska for a reason because he sucked and couldn't handle being a Buckeye. His play calling showed that. Urban Meyer had his worst coaching experience at Ohio State. He didn't make Beck or Warriner accountable for their shit play calling because they did the same thing in the second half. This came down to play calling. They could have exposed the secondary so many times and didn't. They just kept doing QB reads, which was stupid. After the first half they should have know it wasn't going to work. If you through it doesn't allow the defense to stack the box, since we didn't throw it was an easy chance for Sparty. Why in the hell don't you throw it to Thomas, our most reliable receive? Yea, he dropped a pass, but come on. Also, Braxton should have more opportunities and show have given the chance to throw the ball. We know he can so why hide it? Overall shitty play calling and garbage execution. I don't blame ZEKE one bit for declaring for the draft. After that play calling i would leave to.

HS

It's going to be a divisive topic for sure.  I respect your opinion that things are usually always better if kept in-house so to speak.  Maybe it's the emotional letdown of tonight affecting me, but at the moment I don't have a problem with it. The players on the field know what's working and what isn't. The only difference is the coaches are grown men getting paid a lot of money to also notice these things. When they're incompetent it deserves to be called out IMO. Coaches love to lay blame on the players with "oh we just didn't execute", well coaches can fuk up too. He actually afforded them the same courtesy by not naming any names.

HS
MrBobDobalina's picture

You make a good point. Perhaps the difference is that Zeke hit the nuke button rather than just calling a spade a spade.

HS
Abuckeye15's picture

I think it goes deeper, this is what was going on in the locker room this season, after the VT game when it became noticeable that the O play calling was stuck in neutral and the clutch finally burned out tonight.  The idea that 3 of them were alternating play calling at one point speaks volumes (if you have 2 QBs you have none).  Obviously Herman was a big miss in QB preparation, coaching, and most definitely play calling this season.  Now it's up to Meyer to rectify that, bring in new blood and trust the car keys with a hot rookie on the circuit.  You can't have that much skill talent and waste it miserably, line play was Jekyll and Hyde all season outside of Rutgers game (against an injured and bad D), and try to make Cardale something he isn't.  Meyer needs to do what he did on defense following the sad pizza and Orange Bowl debacle and reboot on offense.

As much as everyone says it is all about the team and winning the National Championship, there was obviously a part of Zeke that wanted a chance to win the Heisman. By no means do I think that goal was more important to him than the team goals, but it was there.

The worst part about tonight was that the play calling pretty much destroyed both goals, which in my insignificant opinion, had he been given the opportunity carry the team tonight and next week, it would have goven him a legitimate shot at the Heisman, and the hopes of a repeat appearance in the playoffs would still be realistically alive.

Now that I have had a few minutes to think about it, I now believe he may not be playing next week considering the way this was brought out in the media, which would be a sad situation, but not shocking at all.

What a waste of offensive talent. Last year, JT was nicknamed the distributor. Can not call him that this year with the type of calling that was on display this year.

1. Urban can tell Beck to call a pass or a series of passes at any time! He has a headphone on.

2. Who the hell came up with this gameplan? And why did Urban approve it? MSU's weakness was exposed prior and we don't pass?

3. The game calling has been suspect from game 1. We keep talking about game changers (Thomas, Samuel, Marshall, B. Miller) and then make little to no effort to get the ball to them? Why keep recruiting them if you don't know how to use them?  Has anybody on the O coaching staff heard of a pass to the tight end, or a quick pass to the outside, a screen, etc.?

4. Zeke is one of, if not the best, running backs in the nation and you don't keep using him? You'd rather run your qb all the 2nd half?

5. Thanks coaching staff for giving Mich. the blueprint on how to beat us!

Go Bucks!

I haven't seen the game yet but I did listen to it on the radio.  How many times are the QB's going to throw short  of the first down marker this year?

It is hard not to blame the coaching cause we've seen what they guys can do when properly coached, with proper work, and with proper execution.  We've seen none of that this year.

This Michigan State team isn't even that good this year.  And without their starting QB tonight this should have been easy pickings.   The inability of the offense to function this year can only boil down to coaching.

HS
smith288's picture

I get people are super glad Zeke went off on the play calling but do you realize how bad that looks?  He looks Immature, Meyer looks like he can't control the locker room, media will start drilling into a needless story taking focus off The Game, recruiting could question the staff etc etc etc.

I get how good it feels to see a player do this but long term, it's a huge issue and will negatively effect OSU. For real.

The down vote is a mighty tool. Use it on idiots, not differing opinions.

HS
RBurgundy4's picture

I get all of that, Smith, but the kid is right. Period. Maybe recruiting is the freaking problem for UFM. Are they too busy looking ahead to who they need in the future ? How about using the talent on hand? It is NOT Zeke's job to worry about recruiting. There was an article on this site earlier in the week about how many NFL scouts would be at the game and OSU never game him an opportunity in the 2nd half. The best player didn't touch the ball. That's inexcusable.  He has every right to be pissed and to call the staff on it.

HS
smith288's picture

I said he was right.  I said his tactic wasn't.  It was immature, emotional and ill advised.  Nothing about my comment said Zeke was wrong for feeling how he did.  Everything to do with how he went about his buisiness.

My thoughts: 1.) Obviously Zeke has known this was his last year since before the season started. The outcome of today's game has absolutely nothing to do with that. 2.) He's totally right with his assertion he deserved more than 11 carries. 3.) He probably shouldn't have said some of the things he said publicly but I will give him benefit of the doubt - he has earned our respect, and the right to be direct. -Captain Obvious

HS

Is Zeke right? Yes. Should he have said it publicly? No. Do I understand his frustration? Hell yes! He's been better in the second half all year...he needed more than 2 shots to to make a play. It was a team loss that as exasserbated by the offensive coaches.

Get busy living.

When I first heard this, I agreed with Zeke 100%. I still do. Play calling 10000% lost this game. He said nothing inaccurate and I love the passion. I understand the anger and his age. This doesn't change my opinion on him in the slightest but.

BUT:

What this also reveals to me is I don't think it was wrong to say this team felt entitled, as some of our opponents have literally said about us year, if you really think about it.

Urban is "not satisfied" with today's play calling? We're not satisfied either Urban. We're grateful for what you did last year. Please take some time on hiring a Tom Herman-like offensive coordinator. Tim Beck is a waste of taxpayer money.

Love Zeke but seriously - don't go out being a fucking asshole!  You knew you were leaving this year and the entire team ole'd it tonight and got their asses kicked..  For Zeke to piss and moan like this is very disappointing.  Given the sentiments coming from this team after one loss - I can sadly seeing them mailing it in next week as well and getting their asses kicked by TTUN.  If I were Urban - I'd bench Bosa, Zeke, Thomas 1/2 the O line and the rest of the Buckeyes that phoned it in tonight and start those that are going to be around next year.  Pathetic performance by many tonight and I seriously hope Urban benches every single one of them next week - starting with Zeke and Bosa.

What happened to team first mentality that got us to 23 straight wins? I understand Elliott's frustration but for him to rip the play calling shows immaturity and selfishness. Could he be upset because he didn't get his 100 yard game? For him and Cardale announcing today demonstrates a lack of commitment to the season and to the team. Game is over young ones, learn from the mistakes made today, and start getting ready for the next game or get out of the way. Coach has some prima donna that need to want to put their egos in check and get ready for the next game!! I'll take 11-1 with the L coming against a top 10 team by a last second FG. GO BUCKS AND PULL TOGETHER BUCKEYE NATION!!!

Frustrating day to be sure, and now I have to burn a perfectly good game day shirt (I wear one until they loose, and then I toss it.  I've had this one for a looong time).  But if we had to loose, I'm glad it was to Dantonio, and the other jagwad up north.

I guess we'll see how the boy bounce back next week.  This is either the first in a string of losses or the last we see for awhile.  I hope it's the latter.  This team is going to look a lot different next year.  Hopefully the coaching staff will as well.

After watching the game again.  I noticed the O-line was much worse than I thought.  Our offense was on the defense most of the time.  Play calling was bad, but O-line gave nothing to be desired at all.   My only argument is just before halftime, 30 some seconds left on the clock, 4th and 1 on the 47 yard line and we punt the ball.  Why not go for it????

When were these passing games you speak of? At no point during the year was OSU pass happy, if anything they were run happy. They did not use him properly in the sense that they were not balanced and that hurts any RB, regardless of the skill level.

Bad look overall, but APPARENTLY this has been brewing all year....  We questioned the hire at the time of Beck's hire, we questioned it with the terrible spring game look by Colllier & CJ, and we questioned it in the fall, we questioned it after NI, Haw, on...and on....and on...

Besides the general ground n pound read option strategy... our passing game has been terrible all year long.  Blocking, inaccurate throws, terrible play calling & routes....

What is it now? 11 ball games with 2 opening drive tds against terrible competition for the most part?  No, this stench has been growing out of the corner of Beck's office all year long, and making Ed split duties was a terrible idea in hindsight.

HS
Rockfordbuckeye's picture

Agree. This has been brewing for a very long time. I remember being shocked at how bad CJ looked at the spring game. There has been no forward progress in the team this year whereas last years teams showed steady and consistent improvement. Beck has clearly not bonded with the guys - they never mention him not last year they always have shout outs to Herman and still do. Beck has been a disastrous hire and likely cost us another NC run because we got to 10-0 despite him and not because of him. I hope he's gone before UM or at least before our Bowl game. Sucks well have to throw millions at him I'm sure just to get him out the door. Wish I got paid millions to be fired for sucking at my job.

For those suggesting Zeke 'ripped' the play calling is quite hilarious. During the postgame he was was able to quell what I imagine to be a seemingly insurmountable amount of emotion and speak very maturely.  This man has been nothing but a team first guy from day one. He is merely echoing the same sentiment from anyone (reasonable minded) who watched the game. He doesn't care about his 100 game streak.. But he does care about 2 carries in the second half and the subsequent L. He deserves to be pissed.

I am sorry this played out the way it did for him and all of the others who will never lace up in The Shoe again. The offensive strategy has been suspect all year. Today we had to witness just how mediocre their decision making really is.

This loss really hurts - very disappointing. Also disappointing was Zeke's Below the Line behaviour after the game: Blame, Complain, Defend. As Urban indicated: "It is easy to be a front runner". Next week will be a real test of Zeke's character.

Ohio State's offensive coaching staff flat out blew this one.  Zeke is right!  From day 1 of this season opposing teams have made absolutely no bones about stacking the box against us.  We all saw it.  Still, Zeke found ways to get big yards and carry a large part of the load while our offensive staff apparently didn't do a thing to find innovative ways to get the ball down the field via the pass.  It just never happened.  Its amazing that Zeke got as many yards as he did in the games leading up to tonight.  Sooner or later this was all going to catch up with us and it did.  What a disaster!  Tonight had to set some sort of record for worst offensive performance.  Further, this staff never made good on finding ways to get Braxton Miller the ball in space.  He was never a factor in any game post VT.  What a horrific waste of what is easily, the most electrifying open field runner in College football.  This offensive staff will have the dubious label of being the staff that did the least with the most.

They deserved so much more. I was listening to the game a work surrounded by TTUN fans. It was a horrible day. I just do not understand the play calling at all. One drive was JT run every play. I just can not understand why. Meyer should have stepped in and called the plays with so much on the line. I'm glad Zeke spoke up. He has every right to. Thank you zeke for everything you have done . Now I have to listen to these TTUN fans all week . I hope we take care of business in Ann Arbor.

I don't blame the guy for saying any of this. Good players want the ball in their hands. Should he have questioned the play calling in public? Maybe not but it is an emotional situation and an important moment for him and the team. He knew it was going to be his last game in the shoe and it hurt.

Going down giving your best shot is one thing but it just did not look like the team was trying much. If anything, Zeke deserves to make a claim like this if anyone does. As he is pretty much the sole reason they made it to this point with a winning record anyway. The play calling was totally awful. Yes, the players did not execute either but it is hard to block more guys than you have blockers.

Hell of a run EzE. You've more than earned the right to speak your mind. This season is FAR from over. We got scUM. We got Bowl game. PSU beats MSU, we got Iowa. Beat Iowa, we got PLAYOFFS.

Did people forget its the COMMITTEE who decides? Sure, we "need some help," but we ain't out of "it" yet.

Be grateful, OSU fans. We've been breathing rare air for a while. I personally don't care what happens after last year's run. It was that special to me.

You are right!  It is not over yet.  Michigan State is just not that good this year.  They just outcoached us yesterday.  Sparty is known to have major letups after big wins.  Penn State could definitely beat them.  We can beat Michigan.  We just have to fire our offensive staff and go to what we do well whatever that might actually be.  Seriously though, our defense is good enough to compete in the playoff.  Zeke should just apologize to the staff and his teammates in house and everything move forward from there.

Without question, I have also never seen such lack of awareness from an offensive coaching staff as to what was working (i.e. the short drive to the end zone by running Zeke after the sack/fumble).  Zeke was completely on point when he mentioned that OSU's offense, this season, had a tendency to get away from plays that worked, just so they could try something different.  Coaches at every level occasionally forget that winning is the ultimate goal and showcasing a playbook doesn't impress anyone.

However, I have a major problem with Zeke using a public forum to air his grievances.  Those type of statements should be kept in the locker room and never made known to the public, especially through the media.  If I was Meyer, I'm sitting Zeke's ass on the bench during the first quarter of the TSUN game, so that he can think about where and when to open his mouth while he wears an OSU uniform.  I can assure you that NFL people will be writing this little nugget down when evaluating, not only Zeke's athletic ability, but his personality and how he deals with adversity.

Sorry that Zeke wasn't used properly, but not impressed with his post-game outburst .....

EZE,

It takes guts to say the truth sometimes. Sadly too damned many homer fans will gladly stick their freaking heads back into the sand and hopes it just goes away.

You, Braxton, and 8 - 9 others should have been shown more respect in your final game in the shoe. You all earned and deserved better. The current administration is having trouble with honesty at the moment. It's never easy to fire someone but 99.99999% of the time, he or she who is fired........deserve what they get. A lame ass approach would be to deflect attention until you're actually ready to deal with it.

Never question the value of saying the truth.

Just watched his press conference.  Appears he was answering questions- I would not say (like this article headline reads) that he was blasting coached or play calling.  Does anyone who watched this game disagree with anything that he said?  I would say no.  I was not able to watch the first half as I was out working but was able to see some stats and I was saying why has Zeke only carried the ball 2 times and we were near the end of the first quarter.   Once I got the chance to watch later in the second half- I was screaming what the hell are we doing?  So I too like Zeke was complaining about terrible play calling and still wondering why he was getting the ball.  We heard all year about all our play makers, why not go 4 wide to open the "D" and let Zeke run wild.  Bottom line was we were out coached, out played physically (line of scrimmage) and deserved to lose the game.
