I remember it was mentioned and maybe it is new but they are shying away from the night games later in November due to the weather. They have been played before at night in November but I think this is part of the new scheduling alterations they are dealing with currently.
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Seattle Sounders 2019 MLS Champions
It's cold enough at 5:45 when the second half kick off occurs in the dark after a 3:30 start. No need to be playing at 8.
Yes, I remember that... but for some reason I was under the impression that exceptions could be made based on circumstances. I thought that the only game off limits for a prime time kick was The Game. At any rate, it appears as though this will be a 3:30 kick.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
I'm trying to remember why exactly when we covered this in the spring? But to the best of my knowledge based on the Minnesota game last year Gene was not going to risk a night game in Nov. or that late in Nov. or something like that.
Why are people surprised?
Sparty can be served for lunch or dinner.
Nice - Sounds like it might be a mid-afternoon snack.
3:30 games are great late in he season. Plenty of time to tailgate, but don't have to wait all day, and the entire second half will be played in the dark.
I was just about to say the exact same thing. 2nd half will be in dark and plenty of time to tailgate beforehand.
Night games used to be prime time as a there weren't as many other games competing for viewship; hence most of the country will be seeing you play. Even if they are still considered 'primetime", it seems like now there are a ton or great "night games" (kickoff after 7pm).

Here we go again, thread #20 about this.
I'm going to stir the pot a little. They are student athletes after all.
The recruits like it!

You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
Time changes tomorrow night. By the time this game is played, 3:30 will be dark, especially if a cloudy day.
Uh oh I was counting on a 5 pm start
12:30 kickoff means I will be hauling to get home after my boys birthday party
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.

I still want to find out who scheduled Sparty the week before The Game.
"The future is bright at Ohio State." - Urban Meyer 1/1/15
Somebody who cares about the fans! Three weeks in a row (B1G championship) of OSU's biggest games of the season, so awesome!

Me too. I'm surprised Gene Smith didn't have enough juice to bully the B1G into sandwiching Illinois, or someone like them, between the two teams up north. There's a reason Alabama has bye weeks and push overs before their rivalry games.
So we are worried about the weather when living in the Midwest? Really? When is the weather not changing every 20 minutes?
I hate the offseason.
It's more than the weather. That's why night games are announced in the spring. Just the extra law enforcement required is a huge factor.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
I prefer a 3:30 kick to primetime.
behold the silver bullets
They've already had 3 night games. That's a lot for one season. The Minny game is at night too. Regardless of the time, people will still watch.
And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!
The only thing that would top this is if we wear black jerseys.

I hope we get game-day though...

Coach Meyer likes the later games for recruiting purposes, I'll defer to him on what time he wants the game to start.
(look at how many noon games have been played this year)
"Those two, they're ruining this war, for all of us!" MAJ Houlihan, when she was whining about Hawkeye and Trapper because they were simply having fun.
It could be a recruiting disaster to bring in recruits from warm climates and freeze their butts off sitting in the stands on a cold and/or wet Columbus night in late November.
WHAT WOULD (insert one: Woody, Earle, Coop, Tress, Urbz) DO?
Recruits are going to come to OSU-MSU regardless of what time it's played & the ones that don't come are going to watch it on tv no matter what time. I believe urban like late games for the national exposure, games like Minnesota, penn state, Rutgers & va tech make sense for that purpose. But everyone will be watching OSU-MSU. It doesn't need to be a night game to get attention
Isn't there a BTN rule that prevents them from doing that in November?
We have two night games in November.
May not be allowed to do it in the third or fourth weeks though.
Ohio State plays Minnesota at 8pm, I didn't think the Illinois start time has been announced yet.
Thank God. I hate late games since I moved away from the west coast. 8PM games suck so bad for me.
I am welcoming 330 kicks!
If this game were played the first weekend in November (or earlier) then it would of been an 8pm kick without a doubt. I think most people believed since it is played on the 21st, and the B1G leadership is still stuck in the 1900's, that the game would be a 3:30 kick.
One day, The Game will be an 8pm kick
I'd prefer to not go to a night game in late November. 3:30 would be perfect.
