We thank you for your fine support.
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
Spot on, Hove. Good advice & let's hope everyone adheres to it.
Thanks, HOVE. I think I speak for the majority of us when I say we all appreciate you and the rest of the staff keeping 11W on track and on top. You guys are a big part of what makes 11W go the way it does!!
I thought I saw a post on this very same topic yesterday though...
"Defiance in Silence"
There are rules. This isn't Nam.
Braving the long dark of the offseason
I wish the real world would just stop hassling me...
Good stuff, Hove.
When deciding to post a thought within an existing thread, be mindful of the threat title that will be bumped. One too many mini-heart attacks...
"There's still some green showing before you see the chalk."
Hope this is a 5 hour course an A will certainly help my GPA
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.
Go Buckeyes Beat Michigan
I was wondering if we could audit it, dude.
I think another important thing to point out is the new open thread option when creating forums. Great post Hove, looking forward to a great run the rest of the season.
Right on - and actually disabled the voting function here (being a PSA and all).
Thanks for mentioning, FB.
I had to run away high, so I wouldn't come home low...
"+1 for you"
Also, in all seriousness, use the handy-dandy search box before you post.
Agreed Earle and one more little tid-bit added here:
Go Buckeyes !!
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
But didn't Ohio State invent football?
Also, in all seriousness, use the handy-dandy search box before you post.
Good call, Earle. And you could also try to search the site through Google search. Type in:
where your-topic are the keywords you want to search for.
Nice, now we can easily find all the shoe shine, minivan, Zima and toilet snorkel references made on 11W.
Nice, now we can easily find all the shoe shine, minivan, Zima and toilet snorkel references made on 11W.
Real pros keep a list of "good threads".
It's great to initiate discussion, but it's better to sustain one that's already in place.
Do we get bonus points for sustaining a discussion from really old threads?
Shandy is not beer
Only if you bump said thread first.
(Therein lies the challenge)
I've been working hard on my descriptive titles. I try to make everyone know exactly what they will be clicking on. I have mini heart attacks when I see a topic like, "Braxton?" Who knows whether he got hurt or what. It's very scary, so it's good to be descriptive.
"The future is bright at Ohio State."
"Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends"
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
We are on semesters here now Hove get it together
I ain't much for your fancy school schedules.
Right. Tradition! The next thing you know they'll be wanting to have black uniforms or something.
How I feel every time a dupe shows up...
Spot on with everything, though, Hove.
I hate the offseason.
On the duplicate post point : we appreciate your input, BUT PLEASE don't make another thread about why JT or Cardale should be the starter or benched. Just add your #hottake to a existing thread.
Also, it has been preached many times before, scantily clad pics don't belong here.
SCPO, USN (ret)
Also, when you are making a post about someone, but there is another post about the same person posted 20 minutes earlier, there's a high degree of likelihood that your post should have been a comment on the first one (that you know is there because you searched before posting).
Tailgate Fare Historical Archive
Don't discriminate, man.
Be descriptive with your post - both the title and body.
This is important. Single or a couple word titles and bodies have been, and will continue to be, deleted. Often this goes hand-in-hand with clickbait titles.
Greatly appreciate this. It should also be mentioned and emphasized to use the check box on whether to allow voting or not. Especially on traffic heavy posts.
Thanks, Hove. Going forward, if you're wondering why your forum topic was nuked? Check this post. If you have multiple forum topics nuked, you won't be here long. Simple rules to follow and they ensure it's nice for all of us.
I'll also add that trolling bumps are a pet peeve of mine. Sorry, Jumar. I'll have some of the guys bring you food and water.
Thanks for the food and water Jason.
To be honest, it wasn't a complete troll bump. I had a flash back to junior high when seeing the ICQ picture. I had an idea some may have a heart attack with the title, but didn't read through the OP or most of the comments. In hindsight is was a troll thing to do (I blame the sith master Alum for not completing his training). Lesson learned.
Just so it is clear and to make sure the same mistake isn't repeated, we are not to search the forums and revive threads that may give people a heart attack? Are the old threads with Ricky and #fillinthenameSucks OK to revive? Which category would the terrorist thread from Remy fall into?
If you continue to think what you always thought, you will continue to get what you always got. #AlumforStaff
My thread got nuked and I thought it was genuinely inspiring. Instead of having separate Tom Herman to whatever school has an opening this week, I cleverly started a ubiquitous thread that covered all possibilities for his next school of employment. Apparently not all agreed.
I didn't see your post, CB...and I can't speak for the other MODs but I can say sometimes there can be friendly crossfire over a hot subject (the future coaching possibilities of one Thomas Joseph Herman obviously being one).
I'll also say this - I'll easily give a constructive member of the commentariat the benefit of the doubt just as easily as I would lock onto a troll. I want to talk Buckeye shop with others looking to do the same...and I ain't got time for those looking to just f around here.
Keep posting, CB - we all have something to offer here.
Has a "Braxton should replace JT in the red zone" thread been started yet? I'm really too lazy to look and I don't want to be spayed or neutered for a dupe.
My comments are for entertainment purposes only. However, in no way should they be misconstrued as being entertaining.
Just don't post anything and you'll be safe.
I'm Apack614 and I approve this message.
Earle for MOD in 16', it'll be the last best thing to ever happen to him.
And, if you think you know everything, bookmark this for future reference anyways. It will be handy to learn from what's been posted by the smart people here. I know I did.
Another one to note, don't cuss in forum titles. While cursing is not expressly prohibited, it has been requested in the past that we keep it out of forum titles.
Don't post drunk.
“Don’t fear criticism. The stands are full of critics. They play no ball. They fight no fights. They make no mistakes because they attempt nothing. Down on the field are the doers, they make mistakes because they attempt many things.”
My forum topic about Shelley Meyer did not break any of these rules so I have no idea why it was deleted. It was in no way disrespectful. I simply stated that I find it annoying when she talks up the SEC and wanted to gauge how other people felt about some of her past comments on the topic.
And you're going where with this, VictoryBell?
Zone6, with rotating WR's, will have 1000+ yards at all 3 WR positions this season
Is it really that big of a deal?
I can understand trying to figure out why it was deleted. I didn't see the thread, but if it wasn't disrespectful, I don't see how it breaks these rules either.
I didn't delete the thread, so I can't speak to why exactly it was deleted, but I'm guessing it had to do with protecting mama bear, who reads this site.
I'll confess to being a bit perplexed at the unwritten rules of enforcement. Sure, these guidelines as stated are perfectly reasonable and acceptable. But I've seen threads disappear that - at least in my humble opinion - don't cross any lines. I have not been around as long as most (I lurked for awhile and then joined in the immediate run up to the title game), nor as active, but I came here and got hooked on the (usually) smart, engaged and friendly dialog with a clear Buckeye slant. Sometimes it just seems a little less welcoming than it used to.
Regardless, 11W is still the best place to get my Buckeye fix. Just sharing one person's perspective with the intent of contributing to the community.
I see where you are coming from...but you don't talk shit about corches wife...even a little bit.
Even I know that.
But I've seen threads disappear that - at least in my humble opinion - don't cross any lines.
I can't speak for every instance you may have witnessed, but there are a myriad of reasons that threads disappear. I believe the single most common reason is because it is a duplicate post. Similarly, it was a thread that should have just been a comment on another thread.
An example is the Kareem Walker threads. Each one asked a slightly question, or made a slightly different point. So, the server space was being occupied by three threads that were all variations of one another, and all created within a matter of hours.
Other good examples are when someone makes a forum post that was covered in the Skully, or in a Buckshot (on the main page). This is where searching the site comes in. People just need to take the time to search for the content elsewhere on the site.
I realize this doesn't cover every deleted thread, but you asked a good question, so I wanted to try to give you some insight.
Tx - thanks for sharing your perspective.
"...11W is still the best place to get my Buckeye fix."
That's all we're going for here - nothing more. It's simply an effort to keep an already great community great.
Filtering out the trolls, the inane, the redundancy isn't an exact science. Know the aim is true, even if the target isn't always reached.
The overriding principle is "Don't be a jerk". Follow this and you'll be fine.
But I got my right to free speech!
The no jerk principle is simple. Even if you know you're right or someone is being a turd, don't be a jerk. It's easy.

Bumping this again for exposure.
As we get a little closer to kickoff I just wanted to bump this like Jason said above me to give it exposure. Not all of the members read the boards everyday so this may be a good reminder for all to see again. Thanks again Dr. Hove !!!!!
I figured this deserved a bump as we head "into the desert" for the better part of December. I'm guessing not enough people read it the first time.
"You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, & in the manner in which you live.
So, live. Live. Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you. "

Check for duplicates and Think before you post.
That is all.
yes, I'm still alive
I think I'll create a topic, asking people to stop posting duplicates.
I'll create one about two hours later so people get it
Can we start threads named Crap?
behold the silver bullets
It's finals week not mid-terms, use an appropriate title.
Most people who are here who went to tOSU were on the quarter system.
Yeah because all you guys are OLD!!!!!
Pro-tip: Check the date of the thread. (this was just a bump.)
Lol I was joking. I commented on this thread 2 months ago when it was midterm week and it didn't get bumped until finals week lol
Lol I was joking.
Bucknut never jokes here on 11w.
At least no jokes that are funny! Got heeeem!
"Well, thats just like, your opinion, man." -The Dude
I spent a year on quarters...much better than semesters imo...Semester kinda blow actually
EDIT: Also, Fuck Finals
I got here for the first year of semesters. I probably would have liked quarters better as well. I have 5 finals, took 2 today, 2 on Friday and 1 on Monday. Probably would't have been like that with quarters.
I could talk until the cows came home about how much better quarters were...I just want to graduate. I had to get some medical Ray Rays today to ease the pain.
Quarters were no better from that standpoint. I once had 3 finals on one day. That was brutal.
But I much preferred quarters. Had two degrees on quarters and one on semesters. The semesters sucked and dragged. But I think it's because I started with quarters at OSU and was used to that.
finals are alright
This needs a f***ing bump!
Please re-read the description at the top for the love of God! Hardman may break Ryan Timmons January record!
HA! I was just on my way to bumping this Calgary.
You're both model Americ...Dubbers.
Bump bum bummmm
Spring football is like non-alcoholic beer. It looks like what you want, but only intensifies your desire for the real thing--Earle
It's amazing how few comments the threads without voting get.
I'm just here so I don't get fined
Threads without voting??
What are those?
And when we win the game, we'll buy a keg of boooooooooze!! And we'll drink to old Ohio 'till we wobble in our shoes.
Who are you?
You're leading the way in this thread 3M!
Posts with nothing but a title and a link will be subject to deletion (aka instantly nuked).
You want to share some news? Great...now break the ice, add some detail. Impress your friends and colleagues, collect upvotes.
This can't be bumped frequently enough.
My biggest frustration, I pulled what little hair I have left when we would get Forums like
like what? what is..what are you trying to share..
Click Bait Artists!
Check for duplicates. Both staff and the community are very much on point when it comes to breaking news. Dupes happen, and I'm guilty of a few myself (self-moderated). If information is hours or days old, it's likely already posted. When checking, please review the front page, the forums, and Buckshots.
And please search the Forums before posting. A simple search of "OSU UT" provides this snazy post by DJ Byrnes.
Wait, you mean we're not gonna play Tennessee??!!
"Do your homework folks and you won't get detention".
Detention, now with overflow seating.
Standing room only.
Trust me Jason just gave us approval on an addition for the overflow. 3M remodeled his own home (Kinda) recently - he's our lead General Contractor.
Our safe room is only used during tornado season...
You mean like yesterday's tornado - I think we have all survived - correct?
Those who mattered, at least.
What a pearl of Wisdom 3M
He dropped that one in more than One Direction.
Can you dig it?
I can dig it and I promise not to be selfish shellfish
Shellfish, well done.
Well if the Tennessee series is off at least we still have the Georgia one right?
I'm looking forward to the North Carolina one.
Oh, come post forums,
Bump, bumpy, bump bump.
I hear that Mark May picked the Buckeyes...
I heard it too, and there was quite the echo
If a tree falls in the woods, and there's no one there to hear it, did it really make a sound?
AS SEEN ON ROAR LION ROAR.
Comment in lieu of upvote
And F M...igan Friday is dead. Long live F M...igan Friday.
Anyone know where I can find a thread about creating duplicate posts? I'd like to get the word out.
“Megadeth >>> Metallica” - Alum 2019. I couldn’t agree more.
Maybe you should start one HAHA
If you're going to use Google to search 11W content, make sure you use the following string in the search field to focus only on this site:
This bump was well-needed. So much lack of reading the main page...and buck shots.
Thanks for bump guys.
He'd be penalized/fined/suspended these days, but man, he just leveled dudes.
Fun fact: Woody recruited him (out of New Jersey) as a running back.
And you wonder why half of these guys don't know where they are now.
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
Very nice addition Earle
Just look at the main forum page, lol it's not that hard..
Nope, it's not hard at all.
Headed down the end-of-offseason-stretch bumpage.
Couldn't you have simply posted a duplicate topic?
But what about the data users?
And here I was worried you'd just go meme with my avatar.
Fields of Dreams
I try not to post dupes.. but the site definitely could use an upgrade on the search function
Kickoff to the new season bump.
The fever is real...and can see it on the boards. Good to see many participating, just a quick reminder to please mind the guidelines when offering up a new post to the forums.
Be detailed with titles, as well as the body of the post - a few words/one sentence to accompany the newslink/clip/Tweet etc. won't cut...and will be deleted. Including a post on proper forum style for additional reference.
A quick note on the 11W live game threads - moderators will host the open threads, as in the past. Will post by quarter, and they tend to get busy quickly.
A friendly reminder to the thread participants - it's not all roses, and there will be some ups and downs...that's sports, and that's definitely football. Express yourself accordingly, but those that can't contain their emotions to where it's affecting others (and goes astray from the commenting policy) will not be tolerated.
Thanks for the listen - we made it. Here's to another great season, go Buckeyes.
Can't bump this thread enough this week.
I'm really looking forward to LOLing at the #Fire__________ posters, then joining them when it turns out they were probably right all along.
Lifetime vs. UM: L 8-1, C 7-0, T 4-0
You weren’t lying.
How does your post get deleted? I don't understand....
It's a function of the thread voting. Once a thread reaches a net -10, the site automatically deletes it. Sometimes it takes a little while. I'm not sure why.
Appears I can't reply to posts. Did I get put in 11 Warriors jail and didn't know it? I thought I had been behaving myself.
Were you trying to comment in a closed thread?
lol...what if he can't reply?
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
As good a time as any to...buuuuump
With the number of posts we’re seeing right now, we kindly ask that you read and heed before you press save on the next “Zach Smith...” post.
Post-game bump. Seriously, please read this.
