Could be him just trolling the fans that I'm sure were voicing displeasure.
I would imagine he's got to feel pretty bad. I was distraught for a week if I made a critical bad play in summer league baseball. I can't imagine what it's like being at this level.
Sure hope he's not blaming the coaches. He earned it.
I can't say I disagree.
Why does Dublin have so many round-abouts? Because everyone in Dublin thinks they have the right-of-way.
Hope this wasn't meant as a jab at the coaching staff. Probably just feeling down.
Lastly, and I know it's a long season, but it's kinda remarkable how the tides have seemingly changed for him. 3 straight amazing performances last season followed by 3 lackluster outtings.
Love Cardale and he'll always be a hero in Columbus for 2014, but he's not playing great right now. Pretty much every pick has been due to poor decision making. He hasn't been helped by the offensive line or play calling, though, that's for damn sure.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
The wide receivers aren't doing him any favors too. It's unfortunate but I think that right now (as opposed to the end of 2014) the OSU offense needs an effective distributor in lieu of a big playmaker, and Cardale's skill set just doesn't lend him to that.
"Medicine is not a science" - Leo Spaceman
Agree with this completely. I said in a couple threads earlier that, aside from Michael Thomas, we don't have any TRUE wide receivers starting, just a lot of converted H backs. While electric with the ball in open space, they can't seem to run the right routes half the time and can't even get open against MAC teams. Definitely a problem.
Sad. hope he can rally and be the team player we need.
behold the silver bullets
He can start by stopping the bullshit Twitter comments.
Agreed. If, in fact, that tweet is genuine/real/actually Cardale Jones, well, that might be all that's needed to help the coaches decide to bump Barrett to starter. I mean, can anyone on here imagine if the situation were reversed, and JT Barrett was the "starter" who was replaced today, that he would tweet anything like this (alleged) tweet from Jones??? I can't.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
I don't think Barrett has a Twitter account. There's your difference.
He does, it's https://twitter.com/jt_theqb4th
Gotta say I agree. I'm sure JT felt like shit when he want the starter but he wasn't making passive aggressive social media comments.
"I don't think you necessarily have to get a trophy to be a winner." - Nick Saban 1/2/15.
Well he just said that's been his Twitter profile for days so it is probably just a joke. And that's the last time I'm gonna comment on his tweets - my bad.
Edit: Never mind.
Barrett, who I like better and would have started from the beginning, hasn't set the world on fire in these games either. I would not say, despite what many others on here seem to think, that Barrett has done anything to win the starting job. Jones has played poorly... but in no way has Barrett taken advantage of Jones' poor play to wrest the spot away. Obviously, as fans we don't see what happens in practice. We only have games on which to base our opinions. Based on game performance, I believe that both Barrett and Jones are playing equally bad. I wish that weren't the case, but...
The thing is though, some players can come off the bench and light it up and some can't. Give JT the start and I bet his mindset, along with his performance, changes.
With Barrett in I saw the offense feeling more fluid and moving easier at times. There was a much better "click" it seemed like. And that's without him being able to get the time in as the starter, he's had significantly less reps in the games until now. He definitely hasn't taken the opportunity and seized it, but he's also coming in off a bench and having to sort of step in when the other guy has shown struggles. That's a bit tougher than coming in with the lead.
The turnovers have always been a problem with Cardale, even during the NC run. Now it seems he is thinking too much as well. He doesn't look comfortable in the pocket, and his mechanics seem off. I feel bad for him, but at this point he should be 2nd string.
The Life Of PABLO
He threw two interceptions in 3 games during that nc run, one of which was not his fault. Though he did have a few fumbles.
He also got bailed out on some jump balls and had a few of his misreads dropped by the defenders....plus there were silly fumbles. I love Cardale, but we can't just act like inconsistency and turnsovers aren't a point of concern with him.
He will forever be a legend at OSU. He is a talent and amazing personality for the program and the university. However, he is not the best QB on this roster. He forces throws and doesnt really know how to run the offense. Love the dude but its JT. Cardale has to be ready though. I think being 2nd string will actually help him try to grasp the mental part of the game.
I'm sure he feels worse about today's performance than anybody. And it wasn't just his fault, the whole offense played like shit. But this kind of seemingly sullen reaction is why Meyer needs to stop dicking the two of them around. This is how you lose a guy. Clearly neither of them have any confidence right now.
Braving the long dark of the offseason
Neither QB is playing well right now. Nobody has won the job, but you cannot keep throwing interceptions and fumbling. Don't think there is an obvious choice yet. Keep your heads up guys, may the best man prevail!
We need to pick a QB, and stick with them. They need the confidence of knowing that one bad throw, or one bad series and they are getting the hook.
Neither QB has taken the job from the other, both have had good moments, both have had bad. I don't remember the JT getting the hook last season when he struggled to beat Minnesota, TTUN, Penn State, etc. So why is all of a sudden is it a series by series basis at this point?
Because during those games we had no idea what Cardale was capable of. Didn't he have <10 passes thrown up until probably the Michigan game when he had to come in.
Very good point, but I still think Urban has done the team a bit of a disservice by handling the QBS this way. We need to start JT and KEEP him in the game. We have too much damn talent to be playing like this.
One bad throw. How about several with two picks, dropped snaps that ended drives and a bad handoff leading to another turnover. If he hadn't pulled him we could have lost. He lost his own confidence.
Urban needs to name a starter here soon and stick with him... Knowing you might get replaced causes you to play cautious and tight instead of playing with confidence and loose... Urban just needs to stick with a guy and honestly I don't know who that should be. The one thing I know for sure though is JT handles being the second string way better and is a better team player than cardale whether cardale is joking or not you can see it when JT is out there
Definitely feel bad for him. I wish they would utilize his skill set a little more when he is playing. They didn't run a single pass play over 20 yards this game until the incompletion by JT. You can say there is no deep threat but I find it incredibly hard to believe that with all the receivers they have there isn't one who can run deep routes.
Hope he's just joking. JT may be better for the team right now, but Jones is an NFL starter.
He isn't playing well enough for a high school team, let alone NFL.
"Championships are not won on Saturdays in November. Championships are won on Tuesdays in August." -- Kerry Combs
Cardale has pouted a bit after getting pulled. JT generally more levelheaded. I'd like to see play calling improve.
I hate the offseason.
I feel bad for him but he needs to suck it up and deal.
Cardale was super pissed off when he threw his second pick. He came onto the sidelines and threw his helmet.
This team has had way too much adoration (remember these are very young adults trying to handle all this notoriety) and they are playing very distracted. Cardale has posters of his Sports Illustrated covers on his bedroom wall and said in the Scarlet and Gray days he wanted to add "more".
Adversity is good for the soul sometimes, and lord knows, this team had that last year. But after VT in 2014, they do not know what it is like to lose. IF they keep this up, they are going to find out.
Let's hope they are motivated after this struggle and I personally hope they drop in the rankings.
I'm not a fan of contacting players in Twitter but I sent a tweet of encouragement. Show the man some support he deserves nothing less.

He lost his damn mind
JT hasn't won it from him yet. Feeling sorry for yourself never helps...keep playing and trying to improve.
That's what I was thinking... J.T. didn't exactly light the world on fire and had some horrible throws, as well.
It is disappointing to see Cardale vent his frustrations through social media, but I'm not going to pretend I can psychoanalyze either QB right now and assume the situation. Support the two of them, they're both Buckeyes.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
I don't think Cardale tweeted that he was second string. He may have changed the header under his name though. Anyone know what his header said before today's game?

Stop tweet watching, Bio been the same for days
— Cardale Jones (@CJ12_) September 20, 2015
Doubtful. Days? Honestly? He came out the starter, today.
He also claimed he was "hacked" when it came to the tweets he made about women's sports or whatever, which obviously didn't happen.
Totally forgot about that one.
I don't think anyone knows for sure how he meant that, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it was self-deprecating humor. That's consistent with Cardale's personality.
So we are making a mountain out of a mole hill. His bio hasn't changed. Thanks for the update HighRoller.
Bio now says: It's changed, HAPPY!
Maybe Cardale is an eleven warriors member. LOL.
There were articles and everything over that :/
I love Cardale and was on the wagon for him to be the starter this season but watching him in warm ups today it looked like he was just goofing around the entire time and then he goes and changes his Twitter profile to this. I still believe when on his game Cardale is the better Qb I just hope he continues to mature and grow as a player and that this is just him trolling and that I just missed his real warm up today. Go Bucks!!!
Edit: ok so he had it up prior to today still hope he gets it together for the sake of the team.
It really isn't all his fault in his defense on the second drive he was completing passes and we were driving the ball then once we got around N ill 25 yard here comes back to back wildcat plays and why who knows and on his second pick they called a rollout 2 wr play to the short side of the field yes it was a bad read but the play should have never been called they did the same thing to jt when jt should have been picked lets just say the play calling leaves a lot to be desired. When herman was the play caller he called plays to cardales strengths and pretty much change the o to fit cardale now ed is calling plays more suited for jt dink and dunk no down field threats and if that is the case just stick with jt and another thing when cardale took over last year he got all the reps and wasn't looking over his shoulder!
Jesus man, I hate to be that guy...but use some punctuation and break your thoughts into sentences.
I do not want to!!!
Jesus man, I hate to be that guy...but use some punctuation and break your thoughts into sentences.
Here I thought a cat walked across the keyboard.
It seemed like some of our receivers ran routes short of the first down marker. That's on the receivers and not Cardale right?
I know I am old school, or maybe just old, but I hate the whole twittersphere. I would much prefer our players focus on school, and football during season. Yes, I know we don't want them to play tight and be overly focused and they need time to unwind and have a fun college experience i.e. girls etc., but twitter and social media gives the perception of worrying more about having the best tweets and likes etc. I am sure it is just perception and not the case, but when is loose too loose? This is coming from someone though who's high school coach didn't want his players dating during season though (cause it caused weak legs...) so as I said guess I am just old.
And when we win the game we'll buy a keg of brew!
Cardale Jones is too good at trolling people on twitter for his own good.
I know we are playing "lesser" opponents but they are giving us games. Why have we stopped running the Qbs completely. I know we supposedly quit the read option, but come on. Peyton Manning stopped running Kubiak's plays and the Bronco offense looked 10 times better. It's okay to admit mistakes. Hoping the lack of QB runs is do to preventing injuries.
Bottom line is the offense as a whole is a mess these last 2 games. Playcalling, the O-line, the QBs, the receivers, everybody. As Urbz said, discombobulated, and then some. The loss of Tom Herman can not be understated right now.
I don't think it is all on Cardale, and I was in his corner for the start of the season, but you can't have the turnovers like he has and keep getting the nod. It really does seem like the QB "competition" is bringing out the worst of both of them this year. Last year was such a unique year for both of them that we didn't have to deal with this.
Hate to say it, but this QB situation has already divided the fan base, and I can only hope it is not dividing the lockerroom.
Actually it's stupid, grow up, stay off twitter, focus on the task at hand
He was on twitter when Ohio State won it all. :/
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Get well soon Mrs.Naut 6-0 > 3-6.
After today's performance by #CardaleJones do we still really want the @Browns to #FailForCardale? #ohiostatefootball #browns #Cleveland
— TripleThreatCLE.com (@TripleThreatCLE) September 19, 2015
In just three games, Cardale Jones has gone from the player that Browns fans want to draft to the player the Browns will end up drafting.
