Its tough to travel east for a game, much harder than west. Look at stanford going to NW and playing a game 9am west coast time.

Hawaii is 5 hours behind right? So 330 here is 1030 there. I know theyre used to traveling, but how often do the go eastern?

We roasted VT and could have done more. Something tells me hawaiis defense is near the bottom of our opponents this year.

OSU- 70
Hawaii- 10

I think jt will start actually. But who knows. Itll be fun.

We'll spread the ball a lot, like last week. No receiver will dominate the targets.

In total i think we get around 800 yards. Every time we touch the ball it could be a touchdown.

Also our defense will probably keep our offense on the field. Lots of 3 and outs and probably a couple turnovers.

I just want to see us play more. I wish I could see the practices.

I was a night owl when it came to hanging out and drinking beer, not so much with athletic activities.

JT starting would be a major mistake, IMO. It would just throw a huge gas can on the lightly burning fire that is the QB controversy. Cardale had to deal with the tough task of VT's defense on the road, and then JT gets a cushy start at home against Hawaii. Wonder who would look better? It would just lead to more people calling for JT to be the #1 guy.

JT will see a lot more action this game obviously, but Cardale will have to be the starter. As the OP mentioned, Cardale has never started a home game, so he's at least owed that much.

HS
740Buckeye740's picture

Cardale will get the start just because of the fact that he's never had a home game.

He'll get one hell of a standing ovation, and Braxton will get one just as big.

77-3 and I am being nice to my state of Hawaii. Think it may even be more. OSU 3rd string would all start and be stars on UH. So when we put our backups in the game it is going to remain a slaughter. Funny to think JT or Cardale as a back up....not going to be pretty at all. But this I can promise you is UH will have class and be a bunch of great kids or men.

I watched the Hawaii Colorado game and the Rainbow Warriors actually kind of impressed me. They were playing fast and they have USC transfer Max Wittek behind center. This has no bearing on the game Saturday but maybe Hawaii can win 8 or 9 games this season and help our schedule a little bit.

Buckeyes win big Saturday and I see a pick six happening.

Exactly what do mean when you say that they played "fast?"  They do not have any speed.  If they do, you are going to have to tell me who they are.  Our DL can run as fast, if not faster, than their QB.

HS
Beth_Mowins_Beard's picture

I think the fact that Hawaii will attempt to play fast will work in our favor. This just means more possessions for our offense that should score about every time it touches the rock.

HS
SlumLord6973's picture

Norm Chow's offensive mastery had a lot to do with the players he had. Its easy to look like a genius with that offensive line and a guy like Reggie Bush who could take any play and make it a big one.

Hand the ball off to Bush. Genius.

Know who impressed me as a playcaller? Chuck Long when he was the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma. That dude would call anything at any time. He was completely unpredictable.

How will this game turn out? I look at how each team wants to play and my picture of this game is Ohio State will have a little letdown after last week. The offense will sputter a bit from small mental errors and the game might be closer than people think before halftime. Maybe 24-10. Probably finish strong with another VTech like performance. Hawaii is not a good football team. At least not "Good" on the level of a conference champion competitor let alone a national title contender. If OSU doesn't hang 50 on them I would be surprised.

I think we have to spot these guys 14. It will be a blowout and the second team defense will play basically the entire 2nd half. Its a short week for us and the backups didn't play a ton of minutes at VT (although they did play a handful). Urban is always very cautious with injuries so I'm not sure we hit 70 like I previously thought. I'll say 59-14. I just don't think the starters will play enough minutes. However, if Dunn/Ball absolutely bring it then maybe we do hit 70.

Remember how we set the record for total yards in that game, and then took a 20 yard loss to give it up?  Well, the same quarterback is on the field, and this time I think he gets that total yards record back.

HS
Andy Vance's picture

I was also pondering what our single game points record is... I seem to think it's some obscene number from the leather-helmet era, but these are the kind of games where you think these all-time records are in play.

Personally, I'd be happier with the shut-out, but in the "shiny things era" of Baylor & Oregon getting love because they put up ridiculous offensive numbers against hapless opponents, it seems far more important to hang 70 on them than it does to hold them to none.

BUCKEYE3M's picture

Well, it's less than Georgia Tech's record 222 points for sure.  I agree about hanging up a big number, because when you shut a team out, that team just looks pathetic.  Seriously, you couldn't even muster up a field goal when they had walk-ons in the game?

77-10 is more impressive to people than 84-0, even if only subconsciously.

You're probably not far off. I've said for years that for whatever reason, we're a second-half ball club. So many of our games, I'm on the ledge at the half and then we cruise to a comfortable, even dominant, victory. Takes a minute to get the train rolling, I suppose.

I am saying 54-24. I think we go nuts early, but struggle a bit down the stretch with our 2nd and 3rd teamers getting game time. Hawaii scores a few time early in the 2nd half. I see 330+ total yards from Miller (he can still throw) and a total blowout. With our offense, it is hard to shut an opponent out (because the opposite team gets more possessions), so I can't say that it will be a shutout....but I will take the Buckeyes plus 60. Ohio State 70, Hawaii 10. Game ball to Braxton and a big move in the Heisman odds as well. How can a team lose a Braxton Miller and win a National Title? It shouldn't be possible. This may just be the best team ever...They are certainly better than the 2001 Miami Hurricanes and the 2001-2002 Hurricanes were supposed to be the best team ever...until Krenzel, Clarett, and co. took that from them.
