6 Days!!!!1111! Very excited to see what the young guys can do with the opportunity at WR.
can't wait to see who steps up in that first game between Clark, Dixon, and McLaurin
Agreed, but man was I hoping to see Greene.
Wow! There are so many "or's" in there I feel like a West Virginia coal miner!
I like cookies.
Damn it feels good to be a Buckeye
Zoolander 2. So pumped.
I was also pumped about anchorman 2 and joe dirt 2.
I am really excited about McLaurin, he has a lot of straight line speed and could be a great deep threat.
JT is listed first, he is the starter
If you open the PDF Cardale is actually listed first. For this reason I think we can officially say Collier gets the first snap.
When I first typed that post, I put Cardale instead of JT because when I downloaded the OSU depth chart it had Cardale first, but then I reread 11W's post and they were swapped from the OSU version. So I believe you are correct that it all points towards Collier.
Yep, Stephen Collier
R.I.P. AfroDuck and Harambe
You guys obviously haven't been paying attention. It's gonna be Joe Burrow -
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
Nope, Danny Clark. The Sports Illustrated cover with him proves it.
It's Braxton, fools! Biggest con job ever. Mark it down
..Til' we wobble in our shoes!
I wouldn't be surprised if they put Braxton in just for the first play with a read option or a designed QB run. It would mess with everyone and honor Braxton at the same time.
Haters gonna hate and Bert is gonna Bert.
If/when this happens, I want the camera to just pan in all the way on Bud Foster and see what his reaction is.
Clearly we line up in a Wing T with Brax, JT, Cardale and Collier all in a row and spreading at the snap. Then Boren pulls a fumbleruski, runs for a TD and forever becomes the unlikely answer to the 2015 QBmageddon 1st snap trivia question.
when I saw Brax listed at PR I had visions of him cutting and sprinting his way to a TD in Lane Stadium on his first touch after the D gets a stop.
man, I've missed Braxton.
man, I've missed Braxton.
You're not alone - can't say the same for the rest of the B1G though
Shandy is not beer
strikes heisman pose
Pay it forward
I've had this vision too. Braxton hitting the heisman after his first TD
Keep Calm and Buckeye On
I can't see Braxton being on the same level of douche as Desmond Howard.
Ignorance isn't bliss for the rest of us.
I see A LOT of very talented freshman and sophomores on this list....very nice
"We'd wipe the floor with them" - Evan Spencer
Agree, but I see a lot of SR on the Lines. Hopefully the younger guys will get a bunch of game experience.
That's why Urban F. Meyer has Ed Warinner hes all the depth we need.
“We came! We saw! We kicked its a$$!"
Yes, I see only 12 seniors on the entire depth chart plus none of the four suspended players are seniors. That means a significant percentage of the depth chart CAN return although not all will.
Let's Go Bucks
i surmise we'll see a ton of sets where braxton, samuel, and thomas are the receivers, especially if quick patterns are the recipe of the day, which with an aggressive front will most likely be the case.
the kids are playing their tail off, and the coaches are screwing it up! - JLS
Lee and Apple should both be Sophomores. Although I wish Apple was still a Freshman.
Was scrolling down to type the very same wish....IN A WORLD...
2002, Desert Heat & a Crystal Football....like it was yesterday. *12 years later* -> UNDISPUTED!
On the official one, linked by another member below, they are correctly listed as Sophomores.
I also noticed that Dunn's jersey # is listed as #4 under RBs. Freudian slip wanting Samuel in that spot? Should be #25 correct?
Even without the suspended four, this looks impressive.
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
Correct me if I am wrong but D Lee should be a SO not a JR.
I am surprised to see Hill as an H-B. I thought we were going to see him more at WR.
"I'm not going to lie. We're anxious to be a part of a matchup like that. It's two states that love the game of football." -Jim Tressel
That was an intriguing thing to me too, to see Hill listed as an H
this is bizarre...on the OSU website, cardale is listed first:
Yes, I noticed this too. Wonder why the variation?
My best guess is numeric order.
This is the 11w version, theyre obviously pulling for JT.
^THIS STATEMENT IS SARCASM ^
Question is, is your sarcasm disclaimer also sarcastic? Cuz if so by the double-negative sarcasm property it would mean your 1st sentence was your truthful opinion. That would put you at a meta-level of sarcasm mastery beyond any 11W or 12W member here.
This statement is also false.
The player's class is also correctly listed on the OSU website version.
Yeah something is wrong. The official has Cam Burrows backing up Powell instead of Hooker.
Jr listed before the So. Age before beauty?

this is bizarre...on the OSU website, cardale is listed first
Eric is clearly editorializing/pushing his own agenda
Obviously someone from 11W is jerking it around for what purpose only they know. I noticed that James Clark was listed 1st before Johnnie Dixon on the official depth chart but not on 11w's version. Oh well.
"All Aboard the Dwayne Train"
Braxton with no "OR" at punt returner...
I wonder if Jalin Marshall will resume his PR duties next weekend?
If Braxton doesn't fumble the ball in week 1, then let him keep doing it. Let Marshall concentrate on WR
That is the most hilariously vague depth chart I've ever seen.
All the OR's are cracking me up.
The one thing it does tell you is that guys are working their ass off and there is going to be opportunity in game to earn it.
"Depth is a concern, talent is not." - as seen by this depth chart...
I can understand why depth is a concern. We don't have any backups... everyone is at starter-level!
Yea this is basically just a middle finger to the requirement that we release a depth chart.
Interesting to see Warren Ball is gonna be returning kicks/primarily blocking
I was going to say the same thing. I guess this could compare to when Rod Smith was back there at points during his career.
No "OR" listed for PR yet both in bold, could we possibly see them send both Braxton and Samuel back a la Ginn/Gonzo? I sure hope so, that second guy (whoever doesn't catch the punt) often makes the key block that can lead to a big return
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I love it when there are dual returners back deep for some reason.
I like it when we set up for a return, rather than try to block it with eager freshmen and sophomores who end up running into the punter and giving the other team a first down!
Jeez, I think the Bucks are going to be playing with some damned emotion Monday. I'll be happy with a win but hoping for more.
Good luck w that VT.
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.
I Believe In Ohio State.
That part had me excited as well. Too damn bad that will (hopefully) be the least called upon unit. Kick Return
****igan smells like old water that hot dogs were boiled in. FACT
Good on Denzel Ward for cracking the "OR"-two-deep
Braxton and Curtis will be on the field together a lot
Terry McLaurin is going to have a breakout game. Or Johnnie Dixon. We really don't have any lack of depth, it's just a lot of super talented young players without much experience.
Ezekiel Elliott...And He's got an opening! Elliott! Can they catch him? No they can't.
"Terry McLaurin is going to have a breakout game"
I've been calling this one for awhile now.....
Saban on a cart eating cold pizza
I will be excited to see Soarin' Terry McLaurin have a good game.
I think I'm way too excited to see Braxton returning kicks.
PG <3 PG
Hooker as the backup safety! no Cam Burrows?
Also when did Brady Taylor move to center?
Pumped to see Hooker in the 2 deep!
Malik Hooker is a freak athlete can't wait to see what this kid can do.
“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” - Mark Twain
Man... Hookers these days are so athletic. Back in my day they were only good for one thing
On the depth chart released from OSU it still has Burrows backing up Powell
Seeing that leads me to believe that Brady Taylor may somehow be a secret Boren...
Excited to see James Clark, Dixon, and McLaurin on the depth chart..i think McLaurin is one to watch out for!
Weird to say but I'm more excited about Braxton and Curtis then I was with jalin and dontre
I'm with you on that one.
I season my simple food with hunger
Not weird at all.
Maybe because Braxton and Curtis don't drop the ball....
Both Jalin and Wilson have made some insaine grabs. They have great hands. But I'm with you, I think Jalin lacked confidence feilding punts last year. . .

No Torrance Gibson sightings yet? Rats!!
I was surprised to not see Gibson either. And even more shocking was to see James Clark.
He still has a black stripe. How can he be on the depth chart wearing a non-standard uniform?
Boy, I got vision and the rest of the world wears bifocals! - Butch Cassidy
Warren Ball at kickoff return is a surprise to me.
Yeah, why not Braxton?
Because you can't have smallish players running back kicks with guys like Dante Booker, Mike D'Andrea, Curtis Grant running down there full speed for a head on collision. It's not like punt returns... the collisions and rate of impact is much more severe. You almost never see WRs returning kicks. I say... almost. Of course you have exceptions but most of the time you try to have a level of physicality to the player or someone is going to end up hurt.
Good point. As others have said, it would make sense that Ball is there to block for Samuel.
you try to have a level of physicality to the player
Old-timers will recall that Keith Byars returned kickoffs, before he locked down a job as a starting RB.
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
Teddy ballgame. Kenyon Rambo.
Because you can't have smallish players running back kicks
28 WARREN BALL 6-1 225 JR
4 CURTIS SAMUEL 5-11 205 SO
1 BRAXTON MILLER 6-2 215 SR
Perhaps there is an effort to minimize some hits/still a concern with durability?...keep him healthy throughout the season...Maybe unleash him more late on?
I've not really studied a lot of our kick return formations but it seems that we usually have a big running back on KR. Rod smith and Dunn have been on the unit the last few years, and I would assume it's because they're good blockers. We probably will plan on Samuel being the ball carrier and Ball blocking, but that's just my guess
I agree with this. Set up Samuel as the deep man and have Warren Ball come and be his lead blocker
That's a good guess. Spencer seemed to have that role last year, at least after R Smith was tossed, I'm not sure about before.
Why's everybody so worried about kickoff returns? Only going to happen once a game. #SilverBullets

Probably just there until week 2, to be replaced by Jalin or Dontre
Depth Chart is out. Game on Hokies!
"I find your lack of kalua disturbing" - Darth Lebowski
Interesting that Curtis Samuel weighs more on Special Teams than he does on Offense. No way is VaTech going to be ready for that...
Some skills can't be taught.
Webb is listed at a solid 93 lbs too.
Must be the bigger helmet.
Interesting to see that Torrance Gibson didn't make the cut on the WR depth chart, especially with all the glowing comments that have been made about him during camp.
I could see him being just a special package guy, due to not having a lot of experience at the position or at this level. Maybe somebody they bring in for red zone plays due to his height and leaping ability.
The comments have been about how much potential he has. Never a mention of does he even know what he is doing. As Urban said... it takes years to learn a position.
I agree. A few practice highlights and loads of potential don't exactly get you on the field week 1, in a big game, especially as a freshman, at OSU.
A few questions for staff / anyone who might know about the receivers.... One is are Dixon and Clark actually healthy , and specifically do you see Clark getting time this year? And 2 is pretty much the same question about Jeff Greene... I know we've all been dying to see him step up. Will he ever catch another ball at OSU or is his window closed?
The Jeff Greene ship has sailed....
The degree of one's emotions varies inversely to one's knowledge of the facts, the less you know the hotter you get!!
um....if you seen the video earlier today of Scarlet and gray days, Cardale threw a long pass to no other than Jeff Greene and it was a nice catch..............
that really doesn't mean anything though. I saw some of AJ Alexander in the videos and he isn't in the 2 deep either.
I think Greene will see the field, I just don't think he will be in the 2 deep. Above still doesn't include 3 other guys who would be above Greene.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
I was wondering the same thing about Greene.... with his body, seems like a natural replacement for NB opposite Mike. Was hoping he could (finally) be a breakout guy this year, but haven't read much about him/his progression this offseason
do you see Clark getting time this year
A day or two before Noah Brown broke his leg, the Columbus Dispatch asked Eli Apple which of the young receivers, besides Brown, had impressed in camp; Clark was his first mention.
Really concerned about the center position. If Boren goes down we are looking at Brady Taylor. Taylor spent a lot of time recovering last year.and I have not heard much new about him. . . Perhaps no news is good news.
Elflein and price can both move over from gaurd. Well be fine there
I'm aware; however, I still pause seeing his name. Also, I dont want to assume any position switches or transitions will go on without some hiccups. Hopefully, we can just stay healthy.
The depth charts are pretty fluid and id say a decent amount is to reward players. Spencer and Thomas were listed as starters last year after Meyer said they "earned it" in a press conference, and id say it would be hard to say devin smith wasn't the starter
Hopefully early enrolling helps.
The offseason is the longest season.
Depth charts are often deceiving. If Boren were to actually go down, they may slide Price/Elflein over as they did against Bama when he went out for one play (TD run by EZE, for what it's worth). That would likely put Knox at guard.
They moved Elflein to Center on that play, not Price...
I stand corrected. Thanks.
I think it's more likely that Pat Elfein would move over to center and you would see Evan Lisle in at left guard. I would be much more concerned about Decker going down. I think that is where the biggest drop off is between the 1's and 2's as far as o-line goes.
Now if you will excuse me I am going to go pray for an hour asking God to please not let that happen.
Drive, Drive on down the field, Men of the Scarlet and Gray!
injury to Boren: Elf to C, Farris to G, Jamarco to RT
injury to G: Farris to G, Jamarco to RT
Taylor will rep at center in blowouts with the second unit, but in reality he's probably the 4th option.
Knock on wood but we've seen three years of no OL starts missed due to injury. Let's hope for number 4.
You would have to rip off Boren's leg to get him out of the game. And he would still be hopping on one leg asking the coaches to go back in.
My understanding has been that Jamarco Jones is the 6th man in, regardless of position. There would be a shuffle of the other 4 to fit him into the line (e.g. Farris to Guard, Elflein to Center) much like we did with Farris last year.
This line is HUGE. I bet they can't wait to maul them after last year.
Kicker by committee?
Biggest story-line of the day - still no decision on the PK.
With two people kicking it at the same time, imagine how far they'll kick it! Wait, am I reading this wrong??
Warren ball is just there to block
I don't think so. If he gets a chance to tote the rock on KO, I want to see what he's made of...
Love seeing James Clark on there but in all honesty haven't a word about him all summer so this is a pleasant surprise.!
I'm real excited to see if he has the speed he had 2 years ago before his injury
Clark was seen on one of the camp videos breaking free after a short catch in a scrimmage. Even Birm said he thinks Clark has a chance to make an impact if he gets on the field.
Actually his name's been mentioned a few times over fall camp and included him in the videos. But long as he's healthy he will be a contributor
Whatever happens next week this is going to be a fun team to watch this year.
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Joey Bosa
Did I miss the memo where KJ Hill was moved to H-back? Or am I reading the depth chart wrong?
The "H" is essentially the 3rd receiver position in this offense
I too thought he was a WR.. But H-Back.. WR.. all the same to me.. Noah played some Hback last year.. All can we swapped for each other.
"To The House"
In this case, he's more like a slot receiver "Philly Brown" H than he is a "Braxton" H. So, short passes to him, minimal designed runs and tunnel screens.
You win with people.
And so forth...
9 Units Strong!
Brionte' Dunn as Zeke's back-up. I like it.....a lot.....
I'm fine with whoever starts at QB, but I would really like for JT to get his shot to make up for the lone mark against the team last year. He came back from it, and he and the whole team learned from the experience but that loss has to sting him personally. I want him to get the shot at redemption. Go Bucks!
Isaiah Prince cracking the 2 deep as a True Freshman? WOW.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
Some Freshman making the two deep.. I like it. Start them young
Don't see it very often at OL
He looked like a grown-ass man going down to get his black stripe removed. Big and chiseled.
Pretty anticlimactic...Prince the only true frosh on the two deep completely on merit as Ward is the possible 4th CB in part because of Lattimore's injury. Farris, Conley, McMillian and Hubbard/Slade were pencilled in back in the spring and nothing changed. Call that one of those good problems.
Ball is a natural choice to assist the KR as that role was filled by Rod Smith and Evan Spencer past year. I expect Marshall to resume PR duties once he returns and maybe push Samuel back to RB.
I'd put more money on one of Hill/Gibson red shirting than the duo having 10+ catches between them in '15.
Woah, we have very similar icons. You're like happy Cris Carter and I'm like angry Cris Carter
How is Damon Webb going to be a reliable tackler at only 93 pounds?!
This is definitely where I parked my car.
DAMON WEBB IS ONLY 93 POUNDS?!?!
Now THAT is a depth chart!! Lots of talent on the two deep.
“Being average means you are as close to the bottom as you are to the top.” John Wooden
I like it a lot. Wrs looking pretty intriguing. Braxton @ punt return, oh no. lol.
Like the ball in the stands, we balls out
Embarrassment of riches.
Wondering if Mike Weber will jump Dunn when he gets healthy.
Grown and sexy Tracy Sprinkle cracked the 2-deep!
KJ hill at H back is interesting.
One mystery to me is why kamikaze pilots wore helmets.
So much youth yet so much talent and experience. The future has never been brighter at OSU!
I would upvote my own comment if allowed
How the hell is Gibson not listed? It's not like we'll have him 4 years.
"you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning"
I read that he isn't 100% recovered from his injury yet. I bet he'll still play against VT even though he's not on the chart
The Life Of PABLO
I'm worried about our lack of depth at punter. However, I'm hoping Cam doesn't get much exercise nor opens himself up to injury
Hell, we'll suspend four more players just to give them a chance!
OK ... I got a little carried away there, I take that back.
The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win. -- Woody Hayes
- Glad to see James Clark re-emerge on a depth chart. Every time his name has been mentioned the past 2 years it's always been a "he's got a LONG ways to go before he contributes here" kind of thing, and I loved his HS film.
- K.J. Hill at H-back is interesting as previously mentioned, but I was also surprised to see Parris Campbell at WR, as I was always under the impression he's been at H-back the past 2 seasons. Excited to see him play.
- Glad to see Warren Ball with some kind of role on this team, even though it appears to just be the blocking back on KR.
- Really looking forward to seeing what Braxton and Samuel do at H and PR.
- Whoops. Double post.
It's funny people worried about Some of the true freshman not being listed in the two deep, we have 3-6 games this year that all our back-ups will be having plenty of playing time in blowouts. We have Hawaii, Northern Illinois & Western Michigan after this "Serious" V-tech game, Which i'm sure we'll open it up plenty on Offense and get lots of reps on Defense to get ready for big ten. Yeah Indiana maybe undefeated due to lack of schedule but them and Maryland aren't special so could be 5 in a row with special teams they get plenty of looks.
Surprised Cam Williams is the #2 MLB. He has shown in the past that he struggles. Thought Conner might get that spot
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
I wasn't sure if they'd put Braxton at kick return. That's awesome. He must have shown some amazing skills there.
Would be more awesome if you'd point me to the Depth Chart that shows he's at KICK return..Or did you mean, Punt?
Going through the depth chart I was just wishing that someone would play WLB. It's all good. No jne is worried with our crew of LBs.
This depth chart is like an episode of Maury. Dont worry about the dna test with all these "or"s Hokies. Just assume they are all your co-daddies.
I live by the golden rule. You don't cross my Shit-line, I don't cross yours.
Greene and no Gibson? I call shenanigans.
Can't explain how pumped I am to have 3 pure speed merchants rolling in opposite of Thomas. McLaurin, Clark, and Dixon can all FLY. I have a hard time believing any team in the country can single cover what we are going to roll out next Monday. You may be able to lock down one guy... But not 3 rotating and staying fresh. Seeing Clark rise seemingly out of the ashes here is awesome. He was one of my favorite recruiting stories in that class, suffered a nasty injury... And looks to be regaining form! O-H!!!
I hope Warren Ball returns a kickoff for a touchdown. I've always been rooting for that guy lol
im with you Goalscorer! I feel like our fellow buckeye fans are assuming this kid cant play because he hasn't seen significant playing time. he's had stars in front of him and Warren Ball would start on half of the big ten teams this year. Please let him get a chance to return one!
I can't wait to see Braxton get his hands on the ball as kick returner!
What about this battle at kicker? I don't know if I see Sean Nuernberger keeping his spot
I apparently really care about kickers. Left over from the Vest days I guess!
No "Dontrell Willis"?!!
so much talent there is no clear starter at so many positions.
Holy shit I can't wait for VTs first punt. I hope they're stupid enough to give Braxton a chance to return at least one
From my observations of all the practices that I attended and positional meetings that I sat in, this seems fairly accurate.
Take note at how much bigger the right side of the line gets for the 2nd team, starting at the center, 2-4 inches taller and heavier, left side stays the same or is just slightly smaller.
Can't wait for kickoff!!! Should be a good one Monday night!!
