Was there ever a doubt? Golden State Showers better not win it. I can see if the Bucks getting upset by the USWNT. That's it in this field of teams.

Chicago Blackhawks also could be very deserving. Though, I would still give it to our Buckeyes for having to overcome so much both at the beginning of the season (4 new starting O-Linemen and new starting QB less than a month before the start of the season) and at the end of the season (3rd starting QB against the three toughest opponents).
Buckeye in the desert of Washington state.
I agree as well with the Blackhawks being close but man oh man is the USWNT going to be an obstacle.
It will be tough to take down the women's national team with USA pride.

See had it not be so recent I think Ohio State would've won it. Still though the significance of the playoff and being the underdog in their last 3 games with a 3rd string QB should help OSU edge out the victory.
I bet my months salary that US Womens soccer team wins it. 1) Womens sport. 2) World Cup Champions. I voted for OSU, though.
Even then, it would be a better pick than some of the other choices up there. Some of them were good at what they did but I do not think made any sort of dramatic pitch. OSU has that for sure and I think Women's soccer does too.
The Best Team nominees are:
1. Ohio State
2. Ohio State
3. Ohio State
4. Ohio State
5. Ohio State
BROHIO SPITS HOT FYAA
U.S. women will win it. I doubt New England will claim it after that debacle and Golden State faced a Cleveland team down 2 all stars. Even if those two didn't have these circumstances, the U.S. women should still win it... They won the dang World Cup.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
...and I got 2 words for you: GAME OVER!

Nice try ESPN. But I'm still not watching the ESPYs.
I don't DV. Most people don't deserve it, and the ones who do probably enjoy it.
They are trying really hard this year though.....with all the Buckeye love, I might have to sneak a peek this year
I trust there will be a thread or two (or ten) on this site to keep me informed. ;)
I espy a better use of my time as well but good luck bucks.

USWNT will win, but even though I'm completely biased, OSU was the absolute definition of this award.
to be honest, it's kind of unfair how they set this up (not that i really care about the ESPYs). you can't pit local teams against a national team and expect anything but the national team winning it - this should really be split into two categories.
Let's be really honest: Who can name the past winners of ESPY's Best Team?
No sarcasm font needed on that one, Fairfax.
Yeah, they have a college softball player up against Peyton Manning...that seems fair.
Looks like everyone agrees, the USWNT will be tough to beat off a fresh Cup run. But no one will take away what I witnessed last fall. No need to repeat the loss of 2 QBs, the early season loss, the loss of a teammate, new coaches, etc. Best/closest damn team I have ever seen. ESPN cant take that away from me.
I think key word here being fresh. It doesn't do OSU any favors that the World Cup was so recent. If I look at it with an open mind though, if that's possible, the trials and tribulations that OSU went through to win are more challenging. Highly unlikely I guess, but OSU all day every day. Also, if we are being honest here Football trumps soccer all day every day as well.
The exception is when the soccer team is the national team. Individual can bases will fracture their votes but everyone will unite around the women's world Cup team.
I'd guess that it will be neck and neck between TOSU and the Women's team. I'm happy whoever wins.
It's hard to count out TOSU because of the courage and team unity they showed in the face of incredible adversity: coming together despite losing 2 quarterbacks and a teammate dying, then beating Wisconsin 59-0, beating Alabama despite being down 21-6, then taking Oregon behind the woodshed.
That said, it will be hard to surpass the Women's team. Carli Lloyd's performance was one of the best for a U.S. athlete on a world stage since Jesse Owens, and her goals were due to the selflessness her teammates played with, especially Alex Morgan, who repeatedly drew defenders out.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume were the second choice. There are just as many people who hate OSU as Buckeye fans. The Warriors are probably the runner up (their 83-20 combined record is easily among the best all time, and they're not nearly as polarizing)
In my opinion, the GSW championship is diminished with the fact that in every single round of the playoffs their opposing teams point guard got injured. The point guards either were not able to play or played severely injured and not nearly as effective as normal. On the other hand tOSU had the opposite happen in which their QB's kept going down and still kept on winning. Hopefully voters take that into consideration while voting.
BrutusB, I hear you. But the ESPYs are an "upvote only" system There is no way to subtract from positive votes.
People are mainly choosing which team they think did the best -- only a few dedicated TTUN or Wisconsin trolls would bother to vote for someone else just to hate on TOSU.
Given that, TOSU has a massive fanbase that can upvote. Still, I think the Women's team will probably win it.

I see what you did there.

Looks like a straight Buckeye ballot for me this year!
Still won't watch that clown show.
For fear of treading too deep into banHammer waters i'll just say that I disagree with a recipient of a certain award this year.
So I'm choosing not to watch.
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

I've never broken this out before, but there's a first time for everything.

USWNST gets it, IMHO. The final game was showcased their talent, just like the NC did for us, but their win was more recent so it'll be front of mind over us and the others.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
I see this ending poorly. If anything Ohio State related doesn't win every ESPY its up for, there will be great gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands over some ill conceived conspiracy perpetrated by the Booyahs (RIP, Stew) against Ohio State.
Its an award they made up to promote themselves. Please please please Buckeye nation, don't be upset if\when Ohio State doesn't sweep. The Buckeyes have the only hardware that matters.
Call me a homer but lets see.
1) NE Patriots -- Team everyone hates, coming off the deflategate scandal
2) UCONN WOmens Bball - All they do is dominate, there really is no compelling storyline there. It is not like they banded together to overcome the odds. They win it almost every year.
3) Blackhawks - Yes Kane had been battling injuries, but this is their 4th cup in like the last 6 years. Kind of like UCONN
4) Golden State - The Cavs would have been a more compelling story if they had won. Golden State is kind of vanilla
5) Womens Soccer - Nice story line, but really, they were like one of the favorites to win. Just because they underachieved the last 3 World Cup's is no reason why they should win.
I think the Women's team is the stiffest competition, but really how can you not choose the Buckeyes. They overcame the odds and won against all odds.
Compelling, but given the recency of the event and the coverage it is hard to imagine that the women's soccer does not take it. Of all the teams OSU's win happened the longest time ago. Just by that alone and short memories it will be rough I think.
Should they win based on having a compelling story and team together run. No question. Is that how these things work? Not often. I mean Meyer did not even get coach of the year for probably the best coaching job ever.
I voted ......Did you?
Dammit. Thought we had a chance until the U.S. Women's team got nominated
two words: third string quarterback wins national championship. now that's a team of the year.

It's a stupid category, who's better the team that reached the pinaccle of their sport orrrr.. the team that reached the pinaccle of their sport?

I was going to vote, but Big Ten Coach of the Year Jerry Kill was not on the list, so this is obviously some second rate beauty contest...
DBU? LBU? You can keep those. The Ohio State University is 9unitsU.
I can't see the snooze fest that is women's soccer (world cup or not) knockin' off the Buckeyes here. CFPC = 33 million viewers vs WCC = 22 million. The interest for most of America just isn't there...
Slingin' swag since 1970
It's going to be nearly impossible to beat our national team that just won the world cup for an award like this, but it would be pretty epic if they did, especially considering all the OSU haters (aka jealous peasants).
Third String Quarterback's first start at the BTC = 59-0; Selection Committee 'Mistake' = David meets Goliath & David Eats Goliath; Underdogs again = Third Time's a Charm & The Champions of the First College Football Playoff. NOTHING MIRACULOUS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
Don't forget the loss of a teammate.
Same emotions as most above. Hard to overcome the USWNT after their WC win, but as far as coming together through adversity, I don't think there's been a better "team" short of storybooks.
"If we worked half as hard as our band, we'd be champions."
I disagree. Buckeyes should win it. All other teams were given a good shot to win their championship. The Buckeyes weren't even supposed to win the B10 championship game. Did you forget tOSU was ranked 13 in that PSU game that went ino OT. Buckeyes were severe underdogs in last 3 games.
I don't see any way that the USWNT doesn't win this.
