84? Did we lose someone else? I thought we were at 86.
Mirko was declared academically ineligible.
The offseason is the longest season.
we were at 87 before Mirko
The kicker that took Urban's parking spot is gone!
The funny thing about this is that I believe he punted at Glenville
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster...
And they are known for their kicking game.
Glenville would probably have two state championships if they could punt and kick extra points.
Which is why Tress thought so highly of their players.
I logged in to up vote that one Buckeye Knight. Good stuff!
We lose a potentially great slob, and you guys are debating the roster size?
The article links the scholarship grid to say it's at 84. I just counted 85. I counted twice. I think it's now 85, which is also what I had heard (that we were at 86 prior to this).
You're correct. We all counted the same number twice ourselves, which is why I edited the story to reflect both what the source said to what we see on the grid.

Counting the players on scholarship always reminds me of this scene from "Clue".

Thanks for the breakdown 7

Just looking at the list, how many JRs will be gone after this year? Potentially 8 or 10 easy.
Please, please, please rotate a LOT this year!!!!!!
'15 will kick ass. I don't want '16 to suck.

So 12 Seniors, and C. Jones, Elliott, Thomas, Bosa, Bell for sure.......That's 17....aren't we sitting at 16 committed recruits right now???
They hate us cuz they aint us!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
86 Marcelys (for anyone who understands restaurant jargon).
Good luck wherever you end up.

Don't laugh. My in-laws taught in and around Lexington KY. Fifth grade geography lesson introduced a map of eastern US. My brother in law asked the class to find their state on the map. After several minutes of searching they gave up, explaining "there ain't no Tucky on the map."
I have lived in Kentucky my whole life, all 34 years of it. I have been to just about all of the 120 counties in this state. I have never in my life heard anyone refer to the state as Tucky. I'm not shocked people can't pick the state out on the map, because in general our society puts zero importance on Geography when it comes to education. Much like the grammar nazis, I get very frustrated with how geography is just disregarded now-a-days.
Anyways, back to my point, I've never head someone from Kentucky say Tucky.
All kidding aside, technically KY is a Commonwealth, not a state.

It's only a difference in name. There's no difference constitutionally between the the 4 states that choose to call themselves Commonwealths and the other 46 states.
Yeah, but the smartass in me would still throw that out as an answer to the 'find your home state on this map' question.

Wonder if the staff was expecting this in their numbers? Does that mean the grayshirt for someone is off the table?
Does that mean the grayshirt for someone is off the table?
I would assume so. No need to grayshirt now, can just redshirt if they don't play.
or 1 year walk on scholarships. kind of pisses me off because hunter little-john really wanted to be a buckeye. was classmates with his mother and his fathers an alum as well.
What is a 1 year walk on scholarship? My brother just graduated high school with him and is going to Indiana next year as well. Just because someone wants to be a Buckeye doesn't mean they are good enough
he was top 20 in ohio and a composite 3 star. if they have any scholarships available they can give a deserving senior walk-on a scholly instead of leaving them unused. Hunter was said to have had a good showing @ TOSU camp last summer. I mean he did get a scholly from IU he's definitely not a scrub imo. then again I am admittedly biased.
God I hate that we are gray shirting people. Such a shady way to operate...
I generally agree, but you need to look at the circumstances. If we are gray shirting the long snapper, that makes sense because we have Haynes for one more year, and it's tough to have two LS on your 85 man roster.
The main thing for me is transparency. If a kid is told upfront and before signing day that they'd like to gray shirt him, I have no problem with that.
Urban is going to operate in the gray area, no pun intended, and that's where you may need to be in order to have the success we are having.

I can't tell.........is the a sign for the number on scholarships???
Best of luck on your new school!

I NEED to see what happened to the tool booth area immediately afterwards. Is there another camera angle?

Honestly though, he had major interest in Kentucky during his recruiting and never struck me as someone who wanted to come in and stake his claim to a spot on the line.
I wish Marcelys the best and hope things pan out for him at Kentucky.
This sucks. He'd been mentioned as some interior depth since late last year especially since he didn't redshirt. I'm sure more details will emerge, but I am curious to know what mutual means in this case.
I remember reading about UM3 sitting down with Rod Smith and telling him he didn't think he would ever play. I expect the conversation went something like, "You will never play at Ohio State. Maybe there's a better option for you?" At that point, he has two choices: dig in and fight and prove coach wrong, or move on. Looks like he felt moving on was the better option.
No shame in that. If he can catch on and play at KY, it works out better for him, better for us, and better for KY. It's a win-win-win. ;)
Not surprising news at all. Word was he was in the dog house from Day One. Only reason he didn't redshirt was bc the coaches were afraid a year of sitting out would make him complacent and disengaged. Still couldnt save him.
I have it on good authority that Jones' work ethic was not up to snuff. He never was going to play!
Laziness, academic problems and blowing off workouts. Yep OSU really needed this kid sticking around. See ya kid.
I bet you said the same thing about Cardale Jones 3 years ago.
Once a Buckeye always a Buckeye. Good luck to you Marcelys!
Doubt seriously the kid thinks of himself as a Buckeye forever so why do you always say that about players that leave?
Because it's the decent thing to do.
Pretty sure it just implies that he still may root for him on his personal football journey. I don't see why there's any reason to take exception to it?
Much better than the "Next." comments.
We always like it when players shine both on and off the field. In a similar vein, I think it's commendable when we fans care about players even when they're not on our sidelines.
"Year for what?"
For the same reason jim tressel is still very close to mo c and terrelle pryor. You think it is random chance louis irizarry ended up at youngstown state? Family is family no matter the decisions that are made. its not FAMILY if you just kick each other to the curb every chance you get.
it wouldnt surprise me in the least if OSU isnt trying to help marcelys get to UK via the stoops/youngstown connection.
when i was involved in cfb, we actively tried to help every kid that left our program find another home. We made calls, we helped file paperwork, we tried to help get them admitted. We loved those kids no matter what. Family.
once a buckeye always a buckeye even if marcelys doesnt feel the same way.
Let's just wish him well.
Not a good look...neither is your comment.
Good luck to Marcelys Jones moving forward.

The timing is interesting. Matt Burrell just arrived a few days ago. Marcelys might have simply seen the writing on the wall -
The entire 2015 class arrived a few days ago. This has been in the works for a while. Just didn't fit into the program.
Of course they did. However, out of the members of that class I was thinking Burrell's presence might have been a factor. I did not know this had been in the works for a while, though.
Thanks Birm -
Just curious. How did that comment qualify for a DV in anyone's mind?
Strange. No big deal, of course. But very strange -
How'd you know?
Showed up earlier. It's gone now -
From day one I felt like the program was based on having the attitude that everything was a competition, you worked your ass off to earn time and you hit the books as hard as you hit the weights. If that is indeed the case I guess it's easy to figure out why they parted ways
Don't listen to Freddy P. Soft
Does he have to sit out a year or will he be able to play elsewhere in 2015?
I'm curious about this too. I though if you wanted to stay div 1/FBS you had to sit out a year. But maybe since we released him before the school year started he's ok to go straight to KY?
Very doubtful. He is still a transfer so most likely he will have to sit a year. Unless he can get a "hardship" to play right away. Which I think usually only happens when you're transferring closer to home.
Between knox and Burrell we're Just fine with depth on the interior. Best of luck to jones...
Has Knox recovered from his broken foot?
My comments are for entertainment purposes only. However, in no way should they be misconstrued as being entertaining.
I got 85. Still counting McCollough on scholarship for this fall & the transfer kicker as a walk on.
No way that spreadsheet is correct. It's got Braxton Miller at QB.

I'll take some heat for this but who cares.
Dude can kick rocks all the way down to wack ass Kentucky and win 3-4 games a year after what he had to say about the Buckeyes. I couldn't care less about him.
There's kids who want to be a pain in the ass and there's kids who want to be part of the solution right?
Have fun at Kentucky and good riddance man.

If this screen shot is legit, indeed, screw this dude. Hard to tell, though, so I'm just going to wish him well.
I still won't judge him on an unfortunate, heated Twitter exchange, probably with some annoying asshat, but that's not a good look or a way to handle yourself on any social media. I'm just going to assume it was an emotional day for the guy....
Agree. Won't judge him, but won't miss him either.
EDIT: but to clarify, I certainly wish him luck and hope he finds success.
wtf is this from?
Munson It was on Buckeye Planet IIRC.
And I don't wanna judge the dude but it always seemed like he felt so entitled, like he was some once in a lifetime lineman that should start frim his freshman year on and 3 years later get drafted. In reality he was part of a 3 man haul from a pipeline program and was the lowest out of the group potential wise and ratings wise. The staff did some coach speak about how underrated he was but he never really fit the image or plan of what being a Buckeye was all about. There have been plenty of guys to leave the program and no matter how angry they were they kept their mouths shut or had mutual respect with OSU and just moved on. "F the Buckeyes"?... Yeah dude can go to Kentucky, no one will miss him.
well at the time the bucks offered he was a 4-star. He was in the fold before Lattimore and definitely before Smith. I won't make any assumptions on his personality but maybe he simply clashed with the coaches. During the recruiting process, coaches always act differently as well as players. He could feel slighted by the lack of attention, who knows. The "fuck the buckeyes" was very disrespectful to not only the coaches, but also the teammates he had, fans will get over it once the next guy comes it.
No kidding. Look at Dean, if anybody had a valid reason to take the low road he did. But even he kept it lite. Seems like jones is just a big fat kid that works like a big fat kid. And it sounds like he is still in denial about who he really is. UK will be perfect for him.
"If you don't have something nice to say, then say nothing at all"
The name calling is uncalled for. Maybe he just didn't like it. Someone posted a private conversation on the internet between a mad teenager and, more than likely, grown ass man. Whoever posted this convo is a loser. Posting what was a private convo between two people smh. No scruples at all. Best of luck to that young man .
19 yr old immature kid - says immature things..... I would not want some of the things i said as a 19 yr broadcast... good luck to him
Not throwing heat, and of course this sequence of comments/tweets aren't a good look, but I'm sure they're not a complete representation of the situation.
We welcome these young men when they commit, let's keep a positive mindset when things don't work out.
I agree Hov. My earlier comments don't represent exactly how I feel. I guess I get upset seeing people not take full advantage of an opportunity like MJones had. No matter what you should bust your ass because either way, at a place like Ohio State, you're getting set up for life. Either through football or through contacts you'll gain having a degree from here. I know it's hard sometimes and I'm not saying I know how it is to have to balance football and academics at the highest level, but I definitely would completely devote myself to it.
No worries, all good.
Obviously emotions are high, IF those are his words (regarding the screenshot).
I can understand the backlash, but sometimes things just don't work out - often have to remind myself of that.
Hindsight is 20/20 Siva. The bottom line is most of us here were never put in the position that most of the student athletes for the buckeyes have been put in. Not just while they are at Ohio state but their entire life.
Do they have an extraordinary opportunity afforded to them at Ohio State? Without a doubt but it's always easy to sit back and armchair the situation without knowing the information, and more importantly living it.
It didn't work out. That's all we know and it is the classy, and most importantly, the right thing to do to take the high road and continue to support him.
I was gonna wish him luck...but if he really said "fuck the Buckeyes", then all I gotta say is fuck him too. If not, then I do wish him luck.
Class of 2010.
This can't be real. Nobody uses T-Mobile.
Had high hopes. Good luck, Buckeye.
Agreed - so strange - wasn't he the first one to commit?
Hard to say what what happened at this point without a lot of conjecture and speculating, let alone what goes on in the fragile mind of a 19 yr old. We'd like them all to handle themselves like an Archie Griffin or a Troy Smith, with poise and dignity but no matter how much we hate or deny the fact, they're still hormone raging kids who were playing with GI dolls and collecting baseball cards just a few years ago. They make mistakes. They say things that make them look like asshole, douchebags. Some make bigger mistakes than others, but it's part of being an 18 or 19 yr American, male kid. Particularly one with the athleticism for a program as vaunted as tOSU.
It's how we're hardwired.
If his worst mistake in life is an emotionally charged "fuck you and the Buckeyes" the day he leaves the program, to some assclown on Twitter, he's going to lead a charmed, wise, wealthy life. And trust me, as someone who walked those halls for 4 years, sat in those auditoriums, sat in those labs, spent days upon days in each of the campus libraries and drinking haunts alike, I flipping CRINGE when I hear "fuck the Buckeyes" from a fellow student/alum/staffer w/e.
I love Troy and get the gist of your post but Troy was arrested his freshman year, suspended for taking money from a booster (which caused us to be a repeat offender in Tatgate) and was generally in Tressel's dog house until it was apparent he was too talented to not play over zwick. Even into his senior year I can tell you troy was still growing up.
My point is, don't jump to conclusions (and you didn't, speaking in general) . It didn't work out. Don't project on him, just wish him the best.
I initially waffled using Troy as an example because I was certain someone might misunderstand my intent and point out his mistakes.
My fault for not clarifying; I was speaking to his public face and demeanor in relation to Jones here and his Twitter gaff. Troy always represents with dignity, yet had many, many instances where he could've said something pretty...dumb...for lack of better words, and emotionally driven.
Of course, Troy wasn't Tweeting back in the day either, so...
That was a private exchange on Twitter that someone made public.
I want whatever you're smoking if you think Troy has never said things like Marcelys did in that Pm.
I didn't realize it was private until you pointed it out, just now. Rain check for the sinsemilla and judgement another day, though?
Haha were in agreement though I'm just saying it's the right thing to do to just support him. I don't judge people but if you choose to, judging them at their lowest point is the worst.
How Marcelys reacts to this will show his true character.
EDIT: using the plural collective "you", not you specifically Rob.
Admittedly, I had to Google sinsemilla as I haven't smoked since, like, wow.....freshmen year of college? Once I started forgetting if I had eaten or not, or if I had been to class or not, I knew it was time for new hobbies.
All good brother, I knew what you meant.
So I guess there was some fire to that smoke. I wonder if the screen shot above is indeed legit. If so, I would venture to guess he's pissed about the depth chart/playing time.
Good luck to him. Another spot opened up for the class of 2016.
He wants to play. He wasn't going to play here.WIN WIN for everyone.
Good luck and a hat tip to him. Next man up..........

Hate to lose a Glenville kid. Best of luck to this young man. Meech I know you're out there. Keep working hard, we wanna see you on the 2 deep this year!
We were born to love Ohio State and hate that team up north.
We haven't had a Timmons thread lately...
UPDATE (4:05 p.m.) An Ohio State spokesman said he didn't have "anything official on his status at this time" regarding Jones' imminent departure.
do we take another lineman this class now due to this and the Mirko situation?
^ best post ever ^
If he gets his academics in order, he can enroll in January and be a part of the '16 class.
Yes, I think that's what he's going to do which is good because he can fix his grade issues and be a freshman going into 2016 but with a full offseason that most of the other freshmen wont have.
Down Buckeye, bad day. Good luck in the future.
Best of luck. Next.

That sucks. I really was hoping that he would develop into something very special. Maybe his Glenville teammates can still carry the banner at OSU.

Wasn't he thinking of flipping to UK at NSD? Wouldn't be surprised if he went down there. He'd be a nice addition to their roster and would definitely do well in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Best of luck to him.
I've heard Charlotte, NC can be lovely around December 27th....
He actually enrolled early.
Get busy living.
Damn it - I hate to see anybody leave the program - but know these things are a part of life! Good luck young man!!!
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
A HUGE get indeed. All the best to Mr. Jones.
I can never blame a kid for wanting to play. There is just too much time and energy spent to play football. What surprises me is that there are not more transfers when you consider that less than half of each class gets any meaningful playing time.
Best of luck Marcelys. You don't owe an explanation to any fan. I hope it works out for you.

"Because we couldn't go for three"
The Dean departure bothered me a little. Mirko I'm hoping will enroll come January. This one doesn't bother me at all... thinking for his sake he could use a fresh start somewhere else.
I hope it works out for him. Obviously he wants to see the field and it's not going to happen on his schedule while attending Ohio State. I'd like to see him play for Bo, and stay close to home. If you can play, the NFL will find you.

Really not funny dude. I was serious
Speculation, accusations, and "my buddy/cousin/friend/uncle says" are always funny, dude.
This is a fan site bro. I wanted to share what I heard from a player on the team. Next time I won't post anything. Happy?
Fun: enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure.
I was just having a little. Didn't mean for it to be at your expense and definitely wasn't intended to keep you from contributing to the site. I'm happy now.
See how easy that was, Dan.
That photo is not legit! It's a drug test for a feller by the name of "John Doe". Funny thing is - that's the same name they use when they don't have a name for someone or want to generalize someone as an "everyman". Either way, this provides no proof that Marcelys Jones is a user of unprescribed street drugs or "ganja".
I watched a Glenville playoff game 1.5 years ago, after Jones had committed and when Lattimore/Smith were recruits. Smith was a beast, Lattimore was great on offense and wasn't challenged on defense, but Jones? Honestly, kill me for saying this, but he looked flabby and lifeless. I was surprised he was such a big-time prospect. Obviously OSU knows better than me -- he's probably still a really good prospect if so many elite programs wanted him -- but I'm not too crushed about this. Time will tell.
Breezed through the thread has Birm confirmned this.
I don't believe anything until Birm confirms it.
If it is true good luck Jones don't forget to take the Slob mentality with you.

You're either clarifying things or are freaking out a whole boat load of Buckeye fans with that comment...
Don't expect this to be the last before september. Hopefully he is but this is happening alot around the country.
Not sure if it was just rumor but he was apart of the situation that ended up having Rod Smith leaving the program.
But basically this will happen when you stack a team like this. So much talent will make some think they are better off elsewhere.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
This guy always seemed on 'the fringe' w/ UFM... Hope this move works out for all involved.
15-1 is SWEET!
We take about 25 kids a year for 85 spots, total. It's not always going to work out, for a variety of reasons. Though it's certainly good to know why kids leave, everybody playing private eye sometimes brings out the worst in us as a site. Wish him well and carry on.
Bummer but good luck to him!
I think we all need to be mindful that our posts are on the internet, everyone can see them, including recruits, players, and our rivals. Let's keep it polite and classy, folks, no need to scare away recruits by being nasty fans.
As for the young man, good luck to him. Sometimes situations (e.g. Work, relationships) don't end up being the right fit and you have to chalk it up to experience and agree to part ways. Better not to be bitter about it.
Yep. No need to throw shade. Moving on. Best of luck to him.
This is good... Let's not stoop to the level of a particular "blog" from tsun!
If I could upvote this I would, 10X!

We have no idea what went on with M, Jones behind the scenes; Only him, his family, and tOSU coaches really do... we can only speculate. I mean, come on, we are talking about 18-22 year old KIDS... how many of us wish we could go back and redo that period of our life. I know I would make some different decisions about school and life in general if I could go back.
I wish him nothing but the best and hope he finds fulfillment wherever he choose to go.

Go Buckeyes and may Urban Meyer reign supreme forever!!!
Well, now it's official. We still will have a great o-line, not even a guy who was guaranteed a back-up spot. I loved his size, though.

Of course we may soon be accused of undersigning...........
current MOD-approved posts say we're still at 85, so we need another casualty to be undersigned
but i liked the old days of undersigning, when a casualty like this meant some deserving walk-on got a scholly his last yr. those were the days...
Being a Buckeye is hard, it's not for everyone. Heard a wise man say something like that once.
Whatever he's looking for, I hope he finds it...
Slingin' swag since 1970
Thought McCullough was gray shirting which would put us at 84???
McCullough was not told that he was gray shirting; so this works out nice for him (now that he doesn't have to)
Best of luck to him. It's so difficult to ever see the field at Ohio State, and I can understand not wanting to wait to play.
Given school not yet started and assuming count is 84, what happens to the scholarship? Can it be divided among some walk ons until next class arrives since they are 1-year deals anyway?
It's a shame when guys have the talent and the oppurtunity to play for the best program in the country but can't get their attitude right. Marceyls Jones seemed like a guy from the start that thought playing time should be handed to him. The guys that play in this program are the ones that work the hardest and are all in for the team.
Wow, NCAA Football 14 actually got something right. Every time after the first season of dynasty (with updated rosters) Marcelys Jones left due to playing time. Who knew that would actually come true...
You're killin' me, smalls!!!
EA sports apparently...
I just told my UK buddy guy about Jones and he didn't care at all. Started talking about basketball. Get used to that, Mr. Jones.

When you read some of the articles Youncant help but think maybe at the end of spring practice he was told maybe he should look around and see if a better opportunity is out there for him. Must have been getting pasted by with some of the new bucks and was told he would be riding wood. Something neither side want to was a scolarship on
All i can say is, that being a buckeye football guy is one tough, competitive business. All the chatter about super frosh coming up behind you, academics, social struggles, spotlight, pressure.
Whatever.....best of luck to this kid. I hope he kicks ass in the sec. I hope kentucjy beats alabama...and bielema
I'm a streetwalkin' cheetah with a hubcap diamond star halo. I fought the law, I know it's over, and I wanna be sedated.
Sorry...If the screen shot is legit, the kid's a punk ass that needs some real perspective in life. I, for one, never felt good about his recruitment. IMO, if there hadn't been the other 2 from Glenville being recruited at the same time, this kid would have never been a Buckeye. Flirted with Bama a LOT and then in the end, UK....Whatever man, grow up and move on. Again, if this screen shot is legit, then take off man....He WILL regret his life choices one day...
Katzfan, please be sure to alert us when you decide to personally tell this, or any other, 6'4" 315 pound kid from that part of Cleveland that he's a "punk ass". I want to get there early because I imagine it will be an incredibly brief conversation.
Yawwwnnnn, another kid leaves and half the board is hacked off that he's leaving and accusing him of being the laziest piece of shit on earth and the other half is high and mighty and wishing him well. That hasn't happened 10,000 times before on 11w .The only comments we really need to make are about depth chart and scholarships. Anything else is just pure bullshit. The kid could have been fucked over, it happens. He could be a lazy ass too because that also happens. Bottom line, we don't know anything about it. Calling him names or saying we won't miss him etc is dumb. So is saying once a Buckeye always a Buckeye or wishing him well. THose are hollow comments. 99% of people who say that stuff will never check in on the kid's name to see how he plays. They may make a comment if he ever gets drafted, but that'll be about it. In addition to that, the kid doesn't give a shit if you wish him well or think he's always a Buckeye. He's too concerned about what he's actually going to do with his future away from Columbus.
I guess those of us who don't have frontal lobe disinhibition sometimes say things to make ourselves or others feel better.
Shame on us.
"It's always scotch-thirty on my island."
I'm just saying it's the same bullshit every time a kid decides to transfer or a recruit has the audacity to not play for Urban and Ohio State. Maybe the kid just didn't like it at Ohio State. He's going to UK or wherever else he feels is best for him and that's all that matters. He's not going to be here anymore, we'll never know the real story completely, and there's no use having 100 comments arguing the details none of us will ever know.
there's no use having 100 comments arguing the details
Good thing we're not on a message board . . .
Sorry, for thinking several years of the same boring argument is tiresome. Thought the 11W community was more creative than that.
More creative, eh? Ok, instead of a typical, snarky internet reply, I'll be real with you. Here goes:
Naw, man. I'm sorry for my original, snarky reply to your comment. I've seen you mention quite a few times that you feel that this site has jumped the shark and isn't as good as it once was. Or perhaps you like the site but just hate the comment section, I don't know. I was a lurker, long before I became a commenter and if I remember right, you used to be the helmet sticker champion (or close to it) when they were first created on this site, but somewhere along the way . . .
you lost that loving feeling. You are a good poster who I think has brought a lot of good comments and insights to this website over the years (especially when you were really engaged, back in the day), but when I see a post like the one where you take a swipe at virtually everyone who's posted on this thread . . . I actually feel bad. Not because you think I, like many others, made a dumb comment for wishing the kid luck or that I/we are being disingenuous about wishing the kid well just because we'll likely not follow the kid's career with the same interest. I feel bad because the off season is long and I know it would feel even longer if I thought this site sucked. I feel bad for you and also for me. Seeing a power user (or former power user) become disillusioned with the site or perhaps recruiting in general makes me wonder if I will hit that wall too after a few more recruiting cycles.
Anyway, not trying to pick a fight with you and I sincerely do hope the commentariat have a few more surprises for you to keep you engaged. Go Bucks!
I don't take it as a starting a fight or anything like that. My perspective has changed and that's why I've become scarce. I used to have a job I hated where I could sit online all day and make comments on the internet thinking I was saying something meaningful when really no one gives a real shit what I or anyone else has to say on the internet in a comment section. I do feel like in general the comment section took a big step back, but that's part of growing pains. My comment today is more about how predictable stuff like this is. You don't even need to look at comments and can recite most of what is going on. In general I've come to appreciate it again. That and I just don't think it's worth getting worked up about anymore. I used to really care what was becoming of the site because I felt like it mattered to preserve something that I believed was important to me The site is more popular now than it has ever been, it didn't need to be preserved. I did stop getting enjoyment from the site. During this season I had a blast coming back on and commenting. I don't think the comment section is horrible or bad anymore. I don't really care what happens here anymore.
When I was the helmet sticker leader when they first started counting them, I thought what I had to say actually mattered. Now I don't care much about how many helmet stickers I have, or if people appreciate my perspective, or anything like that. I enjoy reading about and bantering some, but I realize that my opinion and anyone else's opinion about kids we'll never meet or know playing game is pretty much just something I like to share to waste time when I'm bored. It's not impactful or insightful. The kids playing will never give a shit. My words of encouragement or being cocky about how good the team will be etc has no impact whatsoever to the kids or what happens on the field.
I don't take myself too seriously anymore. So I understand that my words on the screen are just that. I put them out there to waste time when I'm bored, most probably read them when they are bored. The arguments (which I used to be quite happytaking part in) are people who are under the illusions I used to be, that their opinion somehow are more important than everyone else!
Happy to hear some insight to your evolution over the past couple of years. I've wanted to ask several times but never knew how to phrase the question or didn't have time to "get into it", plus its not my business, so thanks for indulging me. I actually agree with your thoughts that our opinions here don't matter much, if at all. The difference is that I've always felt that way and have never taken posting on message boards with all that much seriousness. I almost didn't type anything because not caring all that much + realizing that commenting is somewhat meaningless should = not posting at all. Yet, here we are. I found you interesting enough to ask.
You mostly now post when you are bored, which I get. I generally don't have much time to be bored between working a lot of hours and having young kids. Most the time I am posting is while eating breakfast or lunch, or in the case of last night, I had a report to get out for this morning and was procrastinating, because damn, sometimes I need some social non-work and non-child interaction and I can generally do this in under 10 minutes a sitting so it helps fill that void .
So while we can agree that our opinions on here are generally useless in terms of affecting those who play for our beloved team, I enjoy the interaction with other posters and hope that they generally appreciate my comments. If they don't, oh well, this is primarily for my enjoyment. The day that I stop finding enjoyment posting, I'll be gone. Again, glad your occasionally killing your boredom with us.
Yeah, I started posting here a long time ago, before we had to sign up for accounts and all that. I was pretty young, and thought my opinion was important lol. I do enjoy banter once in a while and that's why I still come here. I check the site out every day for the most part.
I wish the big man a great career wherever it may be. I was really hoping to watch his career come to fruition in Columbus. Good luck sir.
The lord of brevity.
Best of luck to him. Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye...
Naw, F that dude. He seemed lazy, entitled & thuggish from the start...
Man, my schizophrenia tends to really act up in times like this. Screw it, I'm gonna have some candy corn. Good night.
THIS SUCKS!!!! I was hoping he would work out!!!!!
Sad to see good potential not get developed into talent and skill
