Jumping the gun a bit, aren't we?
I was thinking of starting a World Series open thread this weekend, just to reserve my spot. My strategy was going to be to let the thread die quick now but then I'd find it and bump it all day the morning of the first game to make sure it floated to the top when the time was right. It was genius. Everyone would love me. But, now I sort of feel like my strategy is being mocked by the OP ..... [hangs head in shame] ... so I guess I won't do it.
How would you start a thread with a picture of a toilet? Nobody would know what you meant, they would think you just misplaced a response...
"Those two, they're ruining this war, for all of us!" MAJ Houlihan, when she was whining about Hawkeye and Trapper because they were simply having fun.
So, nobody has dibs on the Super Bowl open thread???

It's almost 5:00 the games at 7:00 no gun jumping here....Have a nice evening

If we can get a hand in Dunleavy and Gasol's face on the defensive side we should be better.
Can't leave Gasol open round the arc, he's deadly.
The off season bites !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.

At this pace we may have a second half thread.
Cavs win 105-98
People have to talk about something just to keep their voice boxes in working order so they'll have good voice boxes in case there's ever anything really meaningful to say. - Kurt Vonnegut
I like the move of putting Tristan in the starting lineup. His tenacity and crazy-good rebounding are a catalyst for so much on this team. If someone can explain to me why LeBron just won't drive to the hoop when he's getting space, that would be awesome.
Things favoring Cavs:
Dunleavy and Rose probably won't shoot a combined 1000% from 3(Rose specifically)
Lebron won't play that bad again
Not being off for 8 days
Things that won't change:
1. Gasol being able to make 18 foot shots while wide open
2. Lack of spacing on offense
3.We still have to play people like Mike Miller, Shawn Marion, and Delly
4. Lebron can't pay 45 minutes and be effective on offense and chasing Rose and Butler
5. Oh by the way, Shumpert probably won't give us 20
I'm a homer, Cavs 98- Bulls 94
It's a must win game.
Read my entire screen name....

I'm starting the game 3 thread in about ten minutes. Everyone join me over there.
The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender. - Woody Hayes
Positives for the Cavs today are that the Bulls will almost certainly not shoot that well from 3 today. Gasol will not make 90 percent of his jumpers(even if they are open) and Lebron will not play poorly today. It was a close game last time with all of these things so I definitely think the Cavs will win today.
Must win for Cleveland. Go down 2-0 going to Chicago is essentially the end of the line for the Cavs. Doubt they'd be able to go 4-1 over the next 5…3-2 maybe but, obviously that wont cut it.
Well said 18 - need to step up defensively and have LBJ take over from the opening whistle but not settle for those jumpers unless he's on.
I have this feeling this game will be one of those weird playoff games where a team just dominates. I could see the Cavs blowing up tonight and winning by 15-20. I don't think the Bulls will be on fire and I could see a weird game from someone on the Cavs (like a Mike Miller) where they put up 20+. Add Kyrie and Lebron having a big game and I think they can handle business tonight.
Good prediction !!
please continue to call the games like this :-)
Bulls will win tonight...sorry!
Yeah well Buckeyedad is the cool parent anyway!
"faith seeking understanding” (fides quaerens intellectum)
Must win. We cannot go to Chicago down 2-0. I think we win this one because Bulls will not shoot like they did in Game 1 and LeBron will be much more active. Cavs by 8.
"You win with people." -Woody Hayes
Anyone have a link for the radio broadcast?
Not a fan of Thompson starting. His energy is best served coming off the bench. I think this also means we will see Perkins this evening spelling our two bigs.

The Return of the Headband
Anyone remember the "Cavs basketball tonight is the night" song they used to play at the coliseum....
No but I remember ---- Come On Cavs Gotta Make It Happen
Was it this one?
It's all in the reflexes - Me
They definitely saw red last night. The red on the bottom of Lebron's shoes.
Let's do this thing NOW
Let's go Cavs!
Love that hook shot.
Much better start today
I didn't think the Bulls would continue the hot shooting streak from game 1.
Comparing to game 1's start is setting the bar pretty low...
Crowd is really into it so far!
Where is everybody ......... at the game?
We miss Love's boards.
Shumpert = on fire
Shumpert came to play ball tonight
He played pretty well in game 1 also.
Shumpert is killing it!
I love the aggressiveness so far
Yeah i don't understand those games where he just doesn't seem to try hard
Watching him hold the ball is not the way he is going to win games - that's from the past.
So obviously the Bulls will make more shots but with the way Lebron is playing today, I think we have this one.
What the hell is Dellavedova doing?
Wow only he knows
What's he doing in the game gotta be a better pg out there.
Let's Go Bucks
Is that a Coach K tribute, or did Hinrich really dye his hair black?
If Kyrie starts playing offense this can get ugly.
It's officially ugly.
I guess he heard me.
Lucky ass bank shot by Yosemite
Let's keep it rollin boys
Nice to see Perkins come in and nothing fell apart. Going to be tough to stagger Kyrie and Lebron with both playing top notch defense. Will need Kyrie to carry part of a quarter like LBJ did in the first.
Agreed - the less weight on LBJ's shoulders - the better
Anyone else think everyone is unusually sweaty already? Looks like everyone is sucking air and dripping sweat like its overtime but it's only the 1st Q.
Nice to see Perkins getting some minutes, hope he makes his presence felt.
He's done some nice things. His screens complete seal dudes off
Clogs up the middle pretty well on D also. Had a nice block to start a fast break.
That was some nice ball movement.
Cavs winning the turnover battle 7-3
So much more energy on D tonight.
I've talked crap on Delly but he's having a nice game. Good D, a couple of assists.
Dela Valle player for the Cavs???
I thought so as well, seems everyone on the bench is contributing.
Tuned in late, looks like DRose & the boys are getting handled. Hope the Cavs keep rolling!
Welcome to the party.
If we start losing I'm going to ask you to leave 3M
Shumpert said I can stay. ;)
I hope he keeps talking.
If not, the Royals and Indians start in 15 minutes.
Don't leave, Dellavadova just seconded Shumpert's motion.
This is the worst part of getting a great start.
Those long rebounds keep going to the Bulls but they are not taking advantage. That makes me happy.
Seems like the ball is going right to them and they're getting stationary rebounds.
Long rebounds suck when you crash the boards. Just have to keep at it, that won't last.
Maybe I could even get one since I definitely can't jump. At 5'9 I can barely touch the net while my 5'8 son can get the rim. He did not get my jumping genes.
I think you musta got Amir's leaping ability NPF
Yes but without the height.
Shumpert is impressive.
Keep going Cavs!
Dunleavy couldn't make a poster out of LeBron with a camera and an hour on photoshop.
I'm surprised Mirotic isn't getting more minutes this series for the Bulls.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
Sure are a lot of guys with two fouls already.
Noah is a trash basketball player who thumps his chest like Tarzan after one of his ugly shots miraculously goes in.
He looks like a tall homeless guy suited up for the Bulls...
Says a lot about the Eastern Conference the previous two years that he was able to make two All-Star games as a PF/C. Then a declining Pao comes over this year and takes all Noah's stats away. How an NBA player can shot a free throw like he's making a chest pass is beyond me. You are paid to play a game, F'ing practice a little bit, tame your ego and listen to your shooting coach.
Love getting much love.
Let's win these last few minutes and stretch the lead
The silver lining of Love's injury is that he'll be back in Cleveland next year.
3M - didn't you predict D Russ would return with a photo of a lock?
No Sir! THE is the one I remember calling that shot.
OK my bad as per the usual - someone mentioned it was a lock
No worries, I usually try to stay away from "sure things and locks". Although, I'm subject to poor decision making every few years, or so...
I'm subject to poor decision making every few years, or so...
Boy is that an understatement if I've ever seen one
The upside is, I don't do it often.
I have the same memory although he did come on after the announcement with a mea culpa.
Love will be back regardless because we give him the best chance to win and can pay him the most. People don't tend to leave those situations even in Cleveland.
I hope so!
I think that the way the team came together late in the season and in particular the first three games against the Celtics showed him that he fit very well. I liked that they used him to post up in the Celtics series since that was a strong point for him with Minny.
I hope you're right. I know he felt like a fish out of water for much of the season, because of how he was used versus used to being used. As long as it works out though.
I hope you're right.
I was reading about his market value given the injury, so it basically said he wouldn't opt out of his contract (or he would exercise an option). Basically, just said his big free agent payday went with the shoulder...for now.
Tough break for him.
In more ways than one... But, I think Cleveland will pay him a max contract (I think they have the space).
They'd be wise to do so, his true value is showing in his absence.
LeBron just drives at will it seems!
Lebron just took Jimmy Butler to school. damn
It sure is nice to have Lebron back with us.
They say Butler is the most improved player, but LeBron owning his sorry ass as usual, but that's none of my business.
I am happy to see LeBron pushing the ball early in the shot clock rather than dribbling for 15 seconds then going 1 on 3.
Cardale being there on the big screen makes me think of JFF. Not in a good way.
It's not just Cardale. There were a bunch of them on the court.
You know the @OhStAthletics Championship Football team is #ALLinCLE! #GoBucks https://t.co/bWoovBPbDN
— Cleveland Cavaliers (@cavs) May 7, 2015
BD - I think I need to start following you on Twitter - this is awesome.
Why are we always getting the control calls?
Finish this now boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So Perkins' flagrant foul was upgraded. I hope his teammates chipped in for that fine.
Looked like charge to me
Me too, must have had a heel on the arc.
See, Linga? Shumpert wants me to stay!
We can take it quarter by quarter brother.
1 quarter since you dropped by - let's not get ahead of ourselves brother.
Well, if you want to get all technical about it...
Two of those and you will be sent to the PL.
How about now???
I don't like the foul situation for the Cavs big guys. 3-2-2 is not good.
Gotta do better than that finish
LOL Noah is an idiot
Noah on bench watching Cardale Jones on the public address mic mouthed, "you ain't in the SEC"
— Anthony Lima (@SportsBoyTony) May 7, 2015
What an ass clown.
He must not have seen this
Probably didn't see this either
No he was probably to busy trying to pull his head out of his ass.
I didn't like Noah as a Gator and I am not any fonder of him as a Bull.
For some people, the jersey doesn't matter
He was probably born a jerk. I can't even imagine his terrible twos although I don't think they have ended.
That's what spoiled brats look like
Cardale would beat the shit out of Noah, but Urban has a strict treat women with respect policy.
Noah and her ponytail.
Drop the mic, brother
Noah has no room to talk trash, his beard doesn't even connect.
Indians 1, Royals 0, Middle First
Kipnis thrown out at home on a single by Santana, who later scored on a wild pitch
Indians 1-0 after 1
Hope Shumpert didn't pull his groin.
Can't catch a break
Good timeout, get this shmit straight.
Mozzy can overpower Gasol down low over and over. Go there and get him in foul trouble.
That should be the standard every game Cit
Bulls are not half as good without him. I'd throw all of our bigs on him.
I keep telling myself Lebron took a team that started Eric Snow and Sasha Pavlovic to the finals....
Stop turning it over
You can't blame me (SL), I've been over bringing your Indians luck...
I am such a homer and am so needing a pro team trophy - I am willing to try anything.
Huge hit jones
We sure needed that
Great offensive rebound, and way to capitalize!
Indians stretch it to 3-0, T3, 0 out, runners on the corners
Picture in picture (if that's still a thing) or are you on line?
Just flipping back and forth. 4-0, knocking Duffy all over the park. Still 0 outs.
Shump on the bike, great sign
Staying loose and warm is one thing, man will that hurt tomorrow!
Let's close this out.
LeBron is listening...
if paul blart mall cop 2 has been the #1 comedy in america the past 3 weeks like that commercial said we are in for some trouble
Random. Funny, but random...and true.
Well seeing as how there are no comedy movies out right now.....lol
Where's Habs - ???????????????
Butler is getting manhandled by LeBron
tristan thompson is a beast. I don't care if he never scores again as long as he is hitting the boards
Done a good job on Defense with those pick and rolls with Gasol etc.
Well as bad as that quarter looked we were only -3 for the quarter. Huge that we turned it around and never let it get to single digits.
I don't want to hear how Thompson is worthless or doesn't belong on this team. He has been phenomenal in the playoffs.
Best offensive rebounder in the league!
I love LeBron. His jumper isn't on fire tonight, but he's killing the Bulls by destroying them in the paint. Just a beautiful performance. Butler looks helpless out there. He's getting exposed.
He needs to stop with the jump shot against the Bulls and just power the lane. They can't ignore the foul every time.
The bulls have one more run in them - get ready Cavs and stay aggressive. NO BAD SHOTS
Bulls are down to jacking threes - so much for my thoughts.
That was a missed call
Bench is cleared. Might as well put perk out there.
I think he's given some quality minutes tonight. He's strong on the post, so use him when the Bulls go small.
Thought Thompson got hurt there. That was awkward.
The L-Train is officially back in Cleveland.
Defense has been stellar tonight. I guess Blatt can make adjustments(sarcasm)
I love that Rose is 6/20 from the field
Have I mentioned I can't stand him?
If you want me to read what you type you have to PUT IT IN CAPS - because I love that
I have to use caps for some paperwork at work, so sometimes when I switch to an email, I forget to take caps lock off. Then, I'm just to lazy to start over, which leaves people wondering why I'm yelling at them. Typing is hard...
Which is also how I think my username ended up in caps, which annoys me.
Thompson again. Each rebound worth a point
Playing a man's game tonight
Remember when Thompson had 11 OFFENSIVE rebounds against the Bulls in the second game of the season?
No that was Halloween and I was walking the neighborhood but I remember - he played well - Good memory 10
NOW WERE CALLING HIP CHECKS?
We can't hear you...
It's just like yelling at the tv.
LOL, you're not alone.
Just have to maintain for a few more minutes.
Lebron is beat
He'll be tired at the end of this series - that's for sure
Boston wore the entire Cavs team out.
While they won 4-0, every game was a grind.
There are three different types of people in the world.....those who can count, and those who cannot.
Sully and ET...
At least Smith should return next game well rested. We won't have to worry about him getting his rhythm back as I think he was born shooting.
With how well Shump has played I would have JR come off the bench and be that instant offense you need off the bench while one of LBJ or Kyrie sits.
That was the original plan when they both came over from NY. I tend to agree. Shumbert comes off the bench for D but maybe what we need is Smith coming off the bench for O.
And Boston prepared them for this type of game - the bulls shooting tonight is horendous however they will have their home cookin and crowd for game three.
Good game, now steal game 3.
And 4, and 5...
Interesting that LeBron is +31 for the game. He was a man on a mission. Plus he doesn't like Noah anymore than we do.
NOBODY likes Noah. I bet even his teammates think he's a douche nozzle.
I see from the stats that the offensive rebounds really flipped in the last three quarters. They were getting all of them early but we now lead 14-11. Thompson has 6 all by himself.
The Indians are up 5-0 in the 4th. Maybe a twofer tonight.
Yeah, the Royals got nothin tonight.
Great win @cavs and look who @Lebron give his headband too . Thanks homie. pic.twitter.com/t7ftBmHqb7
— Cris Carter (@criscarter80) May 7, 2015
Cris certainly has been letting his fandom show lately. I love it.
Hot Take time: If I were Chicago I would lower Noahs minutes. When hes in Lebron can guard him without putting in a ton of effort plus he can roam the paint. Noah wasn't even looking to score. I don't understand why the don't play Gipson and Mirotic more. Atleast they would make Lebron pay attention to them on defense.
Agreed. Noah isn't doing much out there. The players you mentioned would be an improvement over an injured Noah. Also, what's the deal with Dunleavy? He plays an awesome opening 5 minutes then rides the bench the rest of the night.
