Think it's probably time for everyone to let go of the Kyle Kalis thing
Agreed. Let's focus on how dope [bro] it is that Chris Clark went to UCLA, which will make it awfully difficult to leave Columbus with a win over Thanksgiving.
"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed, is more important than any other one thing." - Abraham Lincoln
I like it until he graduates leaves TTUN

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, you are a leader." -John Quincy Adams
I actually think it's quite amusing how all of the comments and the predicted downfall of one and success of the other has been flipped on its head, leaving the Wolverweenie, and native Buckeye grasping for straws as to what he did and could have done. Go Bucks, and down with scUM!
I want to sip on some bourbon now. Knob Creek for me
"You win with people." -Woody Hayes
Ditto. I'd take some Knob Creek or a little of the Basil Hayden that my new best friend, Dave, brought over a few weeks ago.

Jim Beam is would still be my thing if I drank. Elijah Craig 21 year old would be a very close second.
Sometimes you don't need to fix what isn't broken.
While I do enjoy the occasional bourbon, I must admit that i'm currently embroiled in a love affair with craft beer(s). Small-batch porter's are my go-to, but there are several other styles that merit attention. Double Bocks are an excellent choice, as a matter of fact i'm drinking a Paulaner Salvator Double Bock right this second (7.9% abv). Founders brewery makes many excellent brews including the Porter (one of my favorites) and several different IPA's... But you haven't lived until you taste a Founders Imperial Stout. It is hands down the most beautifully tasting beer conceived by man, it's color it cole-black and the taste features hints of mocha that does a good job of complimenting the alcohol taste in this beer (11% abv). I suggest you try it out for yourself.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
There is a bar on St. Charles Avenue here that when you order an imperial stout (say Old Rasputin) will rim the glass with bourbon upon request. Each sip finishes with a a bourbon taste. It's really amazing and the only way I order imperial stout now.
Nothing cleanses the soul like a no call pass interference.
Wow! That does sound amazing. I love Old Rasputin I.S... Have you tried the Founders I.S.?
I'm a huge fan of Knob Creek and Basil Hayden's, but my true favorite is Bulleit.
In general, I don't "bash" players for commiting elsewhere. It's a choice they make in what they think is their best interests as a 17 year-old.
But I can't help but experience total schadenfreude when it comes to Kalis.
I agree. To me it's not the fact that he decommitted and committed to Um but it's the way he went to the media and everything he said. If he kept his mouth shut I guarantee he wouldn't be getting bashed like the way he does.
Don't forget how the media added to that flame.
Alright, alright, alright...
(I don't remember ever watching that movie sober...wonder how it ends.)

Up votes for everyone!!!!! Man I loved this movie back in the day!!!!!
I'll admit that I actually enjoy Vitale on some level. The guy brings some attention to regular season college basketball. And let's be honest - that's not always easy, as the regular season is borderline meaningless.
If Kalis would have just kept his mouth shut, it wouldn't have been such a big deal. Recruits flip all the time. But he had to go out and talk trash about "blood on the field." I hope the Buckeyes continue to pummel him for his last two years.
@Prickly_Pete - Agreed. Pummel, bash, maim, and emasculate.

I just read the Esquire rehash of the press release last night - they're referring to the first-shelf OF brand, which is fine. What they need to do (instead of, in addition to - I don't care) is get OF Birthday Bourbon more widely distributed because it is wonderful.
Thanks for the heads up.
Appreciate the nice long Situational. Great write up on the Kalis as well. He is a total douche
He and Taylor Lewan must be twin brothers of different mothers!
Somewhere M Man is reading this and grinding his teeth over his inability to comment on the Hindsight section. And I can't help but enjoy that.
Your enjoyment attracts upvotes...and here's another.
What a pleasant surprise a situational, thank you Ramzy. The whole Colonel E.H. Taylor JR collection is BIB except the Barrel Proof of course, I also like the Rittenhouse Rye BIB which is a very good Rye for the price.
On the shaky hands thing, I have hand tremors and went to see a Neurologist, he told there were 3 things that could help. One of the things he told me was drinking Alcohol but wouldn't recommend it due to the propensity to become an Alcoholic. The other 2 were a blood pressure med which would make me tired all the time (I don't have high blood pressure) and surgery wasn't going to happen, so I just live with it.
Thank you for another great situational, Ramzy!
Screw Baylor and TCU, OSU deserved the spot in the CFP.
Amen! And any debate about it was settled emphatically back in January!
I fail to see what's all that different about Jim Beam whether it's bonded or not. It seems it's simply done with some sort of 1920's government oversight (a 21st Century version already exists) in 1 warehouse (doesn't matter, since Jim Beam isn't made on the shores of Scotland where the sea air can affect the taste) and with a label saying it was done in this way.
Are whiskey hipsters really this gullible?
I fail to see what's all that different about Jim Beam whether it's bonded or not.
White label Beam cannot be bonded for numerous reasons, most notably that it's only 40% alcohol i.e. not boozy enough for bonding.
This is NSFW, HEADS UP!
However done properly white label can still be fun to drink!

This article will be saved and pulled out anytime I hear a Baylor/TCU fan whine about being left out. Its written perfectly.
I love the roast of Kalis. Somewhere deep down he is kicking himself. Nothing worthwhile ever comes easy.. and its clear which path he chose..

Geez. "Um, I forgot about that game." How.
Thanks for the heads-up.
bahahaha.. love the fix..
It's always a nice surprise seeing the situationals.. great write up Ramzy..

I love looking back and reading all the tweets about how the B1G played themself out of the playoff in week 2. Always a good laugh.
Man, it's so hard reading MGoBlog. Just a dumpster fire of a site, looks like it hasn't been updated since 2002. We're so fortunate to have 11W and their programmers.
"I call them That School Up North because I hate them."-Woody Hayes
Kind of like their team. Hasn't been updated since 2002.
LOL big time.
Made in America because damn it, it's bourbon. In order to be a Bourbon it has to be made in Kentucky .
Mark May is a mental midget
Yep-and Tequila has to be made in Mexico, which I wasn't aware of initially. Dogfish Head makes spirits as well, and made Tequila briefly. When I was looking to get some, I found out that Mexico sent them a cease and assist letter, because Tequila wasn't allowed to be made outside of Mexico, thus, you can't get Dogfish Tequila anymore.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
That's a common misconception. See below-
The Federal Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits (27 C.F.R. 5) state that bourbon made for U.S. consumption must be:
Produced in the United States
Made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn
Aged in new, charred oak barrels
Distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume)
Entered into the barrel for aging at no more than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume)
Bottled (like other whiskeys) at 80 proof or more (40% alcohol by volume)
I love the fact that Kalis talked trash. I don't hate him for doing it. That's what the rivalry needs. Don't pretend to like the other team for 364 days a year, and then just turn on the hate for 4 hours in November. I loved Tressel and his senator like approach to everything, but I am really into Urbans honest, no BS approach to everything, including the rivalry. I can't wait for the season to start and for The Game to approach. I have a feeling it might get a little more interesting this year in the lead up to the game, with ole JImmy Football up there. He's never been one to hold back, and Urban won't either. Urban will run the score up every chance he gets, especially against TTUN, and I can't wait for it.
Really, "run the score up". Who said ohio will even get on the SCOREBOARD?
Never cared for Bourbon much until I was introduced to Woodford Reserve. Now I kinda wish the the intro had never been made. So good when it touches your lips! Maybe this evening I'll make a toast to kyle kalis eating shit using my best dick v imitation.
We train to fight and we fight to win.
If you like Woodford (and I do) try Costco's bourbon. I find it just as good for less money.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
I once saw a bottle of Kirkland brand scotch at Costco... no shit... went for 789 bucks. No indication of who made it... my guess was Glenlivet but that's just a guess.
Wasn't willing to take a chance on it. There was a bottle of MacAllen single malt in a fancy bottle... 25 years old... 1200.
One of these days.
"The future is bright at Ohio State." - Urban Meyer 1/1/15
Not surprising consider Costco's customer demographic is decidedly upscale. Their Kirkland brand is designed to be high quality at a lower price; you can pay a lot more to get something better but dollar for dollar they represent a good value.
Great Situational. Call me childish, but since I was a kid I have loathed the success of the team up north with kids with whom we all went to high school, aka Ohio kids. It is nice, and rather cathartic, to see someone make that choice that so many Ohio kids have made before, thinking that it will be the same as it has in the past, and have it turn out with no postseason for them, and a record for postseason victories for us. I'll never grow tired of being better than they, nor will I apologize. Great write up, RAMZY!
Great job Ramzy!
I put this excel file together as I felt the numbers were just screaming some kind of chart. I only included the games up to the playoff selection (including Wisconsin) and didn't insert the last two bowl games. Thought it was cool to see that everything does reinforce that our schedule was definitely not a concern versus Baylor & TCU. Hope others like this too!
"m not sure what your chart represents. From the looks of it Baylor and TCU both had more games above the line.
above the line is not good, those are your n'western states and SMUs
I would have flipped the chart so better is on top to make it conform to what is the usual convention.
What just happened?
Dear master couch play callers....please keep in mind, Urban Meyer knows more than you about football
Dazed and confused is my favorite movie ever just as Ramzy is my favorite writer ever.
The lord of brevity.
*Slips on sandals* Did someone say bourbon?
Oh hi Mark.
I don't like Beam, I have a bottle of white label in my cabinet right now just collecting dust.
Been drinking Johnny Drum based on a recommendation from Ramzy a while back. Loving it.
I literally LOL'd on that one!!
"you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning"
I just re-read that post Ramzy made of the phony ESPN Gameday crew. It's even funnier now. Anyone know if Desmond ever caught the squirrel or found his wallet?
Don't think I saw that could u kindly provide a link? Up vote to u for the direction :-)
It's also in the article by Ranzy , it's the red "you know" link.
That was hilarious, thanks for the link
Ranzy =Ramzy Sorry!
Fuck Kalis. May his next two years be mediocre at best.
Beam...Banned...clean-n-sober for 30 of the Bestest yrs last year ! Started using & abusing at 13 till the insanity stopped at 24 ! 11 hard under-the-influence intoxicated drug-filled "lost-yrs" !
Just celebrated *25 "very-happy" married to the same sweetie last year yrs ! We just married our 22 yr old daughter 2 Sat's ago to a very fine young man !
We're BEAMING...& can remember clearly the best Bonds-eVr-Beamed !!!
Owning. skunk. weasels. Is. Tradition.
Congrats on the sobriety and the happy married life. Each was probably conducive to the other.
I can only imagine after penning that marathon, Ramzy felt the relief akin to dropping an 8 lb turd off at the pool...
The piece on Kalis is some of Ramzy's finest work, and that is saying a lot
I kind of regret tOSU ever recruited Kalis so hard. He doesn't sound very smart. He totally buys a sales pitch from Hoke but closes his ears to Urban Meyer ! -- and that's just the beginning of it.
Well written, informative article as always Ramzy.
woodford Reserve and Makers Mark. why not Jim Beam? Because I couldn;t go for three.
Makers Mark is smooth as silk. WR is amazing... sweet and oakey. Knob Creek for a third.
Good read as always Ramzy. Cheers
/tips old crow apple pie
Made in America Kentucky because damn it, it's bourbon.
Adjusted this for you - Since I'm from KY, it sounds much better when said this way
LMFAO at Tanner...way to start it off with a bang! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In all seriousness, Kalis is a douche bag and should be treated as such.
"I keep getting older...and they stay the same age." ;-) I had to add that quote from one of my favorite movies from the good ole college days. Matthew Mc. can never duplicate that role...not even in his lame ass Buick commercials. Sure he's always drove a freaking Buick...I'm calling extreme BS on that one.
Great article as usual Ramzy!
It is time!!!!!
