Out of bias, I normally have Ohio State going to at least the Sweet 16 in my brackets. However, I would be shocked if they did that, let alone the Final Four. Let's get through the B1G Tourney first before we start talking how far we can possibly get in the Big Dance.
If we can climb to a 6 seed or better then I like our chances to make it to the Sweet 16. But I don't see us knocking off a Uva or Kansas if we're stuck on the 7/8 line.
Agreed. And Lunardi currently has us at a 7, in which case we could face someone like Arizona, which I don't see us beating them at all.
Living in Tucson, if we did play Arizona in the 2nd round we would absolutely need to win. I would never hear the end of it! I enjoy reminding Arizona fans that the Bucks knocked them out of the tournament a couple years ago. They all look down on OSU like they aren't legit, so I kindly in so many ways remind them of how much better the Bucks have been since Matta took over. They are even more relevant than the Cats IMO. GO BUCKS!!!
You can't out work a bad diet!!
And what has AZ done to be talking about anyone else not being legit! Maybe they should focus on winning something first.

Well, I agree with the coach. It's nice for Sam to be THINKING that they have what it takes to make a final four and I hope like heck they do. But............
A team getting hot at the right time is all it takes to make a run in the tournaments coming up. We have three point shooters that, if they get hot, can give us a chance in any game. Russell does so much that it is hard to stop him completely. If our big guys can just rebound and defend and the shooters get hot, we have a chance to do some damage.
That "big guys rebounding" thing is a big if....
That UM loss still gives me heartburn.
We train to fight and we fight to win.
Yeah I know we had a real shot there at the end. If we would have shot the ball better down the stretch we could have come away with a "W"
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
That MI game was a disappointment for sure, but I think the outcome would've been different if we hadn't lost the previous game to MSU! We were in a funk after that loss, and I think it carried over. THAT game is the one that is the bigger disappointment, for me. I hate losing to them as much as I hate losing to Meatchicken, but at least I had been given the privilege of watching our Bucks beat the crap out of the Wolveweenies at home (and the day after the NC game, no less!!)
This team is extremely frustrating mainly because they legitimately could have only a couple of losses if they would have played a full game instead of just a good half/bad half. Whey they are on I legit think they are a top 10-ish team in the country. However, when they are off they are really off. If they can put it together and string some games together they could make a run. Final Four may be a stretch though. I see this teams ceiling as an elite 8 team but likely sweet 16 team depending on their draw.
If the Basketbucks make it to the Final Four it will be on the same level of shock for me as the football team was this year. Unlikely, but not impossible.

I have no doubt this team would make the Final Four.... if the tourney games were played at The Schott... This team has beaten exactly nobody away from home. Their 3 Ws were against teams that will be playing on Wednesday in the B1GT, and if they get that 4th one tonight, ditto for Penn St. The only saving grace is the possibility of getting placed in a site very close to home, say Louisville, then Cleveland - if they can somehow win the B1GT (oh yeah that's not played here either...) they could grab a 4 seed and get that placement. Not likely.
And for the love of God..... start strong!
Agreed - it's an absolute must on the road.
If the dont make it to the final four, then I really hope he is in the dunk contest. Id love to see what he would do, he'd probably win it.
Wonder how that dunk sideshow works?
Free food, free lodging, free stuff, and they fly the participants down there?
Life is short. Filled with stuff.
Whatever. Let's just root them on to beating PSU. Then we'll see.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
I love his confidence and if we play our "A" game (and sometimes I don't even know what that looks like) we have a good chance to make some noise in the tourney. We need to have a strong showing in our own tourney to get the kids fired up.
If the shooters get hot and bigs show up they can do some damage. However at home against Purdue no one except for Russ made a perimeter shot outside 10 ft. Had to watch the game again to make me believe it.
We're getting hot at the right time. If we don't fall way behind early, we will make a solid run. We need to not fall behind in these next games to "practice" for the tournament.
Any idea when Lee will be back? Amir does seem more engaged and played better against Purdue. Still, my sense is that Lee is still better and so need him to start practicing and play at least by the NCAA T.

Big time fan of the basketball team here, but I've been frustrated with the lack of development in Sam Thompson's offensive game the last two years. I love to see him get fired up and get motivated, but a big part of me wishes he got this serious a couple years ago and put in time (i) on his shot, (ii) in the weight room and (iii) on his ball handling skills. His jumper hasn't improved in the last two years (it's worse, if anything). He's athletic and I think he'd be an effective slasher if he were stronger and handled the ball better. Sorry to be skeptical of Sam, but some people can back up the talk. I don't think Sam can at this point. Prove me wrong.
