Had a great time going to that game. Will definitely be going back next time.
Same here - my first OSU game (my parents ripped me away from the home state at a young age - the resentment lives).
'Kwon grew up a notch that day, and I was reminding (respectfully) the dedicated Terp fans who stayed until the end that Leaping Cardale was the third string QB, yet well capable of leading the offense - I LOVE IT WHEN I'M RIGHT.
It was a great day - great atmosphere, very much enjoyed it all at College Park.
I had to run away high, so I wouldn't come home low...
I have to question that being your first attended game. I don't judge fandom on attendance at all, that's not what I am getting at. Based on your site involvement, I am shockingly surprised you had the self control to hold back from making the trek to the Shoe at some point. I do it annually contrary to what my credit status is telling me. I'm really glad you made it to a game.
Just never made it home - most of my family is out of Ohio, two of my last three trips back have been for funerals.
Had the opportunity while in undergrad school in PA to go to State College for the '97 Penn State game, but couldn't get out of work at the last minute.
I've been a Buckeye fan my entire life, but didn't really follow until Earle's last couple of seasons (huge Spielman fan). The military and undergrad school (and the misery of it all) during the 90's kept me away, and a career shift/grad school/marriage/fatherhood has kept me busy in the 21st century.
But the desire to get home and visit the 'Shoe remains - since joining 11W and sharing my fandom with the best group of internet friends one could ever hope that desire is quickly becoming a must. Something about the site that just has elevated my fanaticism...
I've made it to many Redskins and Caps games over the past decade living in the metro area - maybe I should've saved the money and just made one true mecca to Columbus - I know I would've gotten my money's worth there.
Yeah, love living in this area, now I get to see Ohio State every other year in College Park.
This was Maryland's biggest game ever. This game doesn't even compare with our our last 3 games of this year.
I'm not sure if it was their biggest ever, but it probably would have been if they won. They have played FSU and Miami while they were ranked #1 in the past. First game in the B1G against OSU is a big deal, but we were #20 at the time.
Would of loved for Lee or McMillan to have scored there. Great defense by the young silver bullets.
This game was a lot of fun. Maryland fans were really corralled to their side and endzone, and the buckeyes took over the rest.
By 4th quarter it was a meet and greet.

One of my favorite tweets of all time
"There was one time this year he had it and he fumbled it. He was carrying the ball way out here in Texas when he should've had it closer like Indiana. You know, I called him out on Twitter and it's kind of like Twitter lore now. So, it's kind of entertaining. But I just tell him to go out there and do your job. This is your job and this is how you stay employed. Go out there and make plays."

What is sleepy time tea?
It's an herbal tea that has chamomile, among other ingredients, designed to promote relaxation and more restful sleep. It got me through a lot of the more stressful points of graduate school. In case you're looking for it, it'll be in the tea aisle with a sleepy bear on the box.

Is it caffeine free?
Sooner or later it all gets real.
Yeah, there's no caffeine.
does it cause grogginess?
No, it doesn't.
This stuff. SWMBO is all about it. It tastes decent but I don't love it.
This was my first Ohio State game since the 2009 Iowa overtime heart attack bonanza, and it did not disappoint. Maryland fans were surprisingly cordial (given that the reputation for their basketball fans is pretty miserable around here), and the hordes of Buckeye faithful made Byrd Field into Ohio Stadium's eastern annex that day. The highlight then and now was seeing King Cardale (long may he reign) vault a defender 30 yards away from me.
That Iowa game was fantastic. That was the last game my freshman year, and I had fantastic seats in 11A and got to rush the field.
...and Michigan still sucks.
The Iowa game was my last as a senior, and I have to say it was a hell of a way to go out. I think I lost six or seven years off of my life that night.
NO MENTION OF CARDALE'S HURDLE!?!
I was surprised by this as well. Thanks for the video!
Maybe the Skunk Weasels will beat Maryland by more than a field goal some day. ;-) Had to laugh about all the sc UM media bloggers gushing about the FIRST three star commitment that Harbaugh secured yesterday!
Bo Schembechler: Student of Woody;
Gary Moeller: Player for Woody;
Lloyd Carr & Rich Rodriguez: Owned by Tressel;
Brady Hoke: Owned by donuts;
Jim Harbaugh: Owned by Urban to the tune of 42-13.
This was a fun game to watch. That wound of the VT loss was scabbing over at this point but was still tender. This game along with UC was where I was just like "Screw it. Lets just watch these boys get it together and work towards next year." I had no idea this is where the offense and defense would start to figure it out and really start clicking. It's fun to look back on these games and see the progression.
There were so many memorable plays in this game. I don't think I'll ever forget Michael Thomas's footwork in the back of the endzone after catching the ball over the defender's head, Cardale's leap over a defender, the defensive line making noise, or Lee intercepting it, only to set up Kwon's fumble recovery. There were others as well, but those jump out in my mind. It was as fun to watch as any noon game.

yes, I'm still alive

Darron Lee all Nostradamus up in here!
And we'll drink to old Ohio 'til we wobble in our shoes!
The line on this game was -7. Luckily for me, I was in Vegas for the 9 a.m. kick off. What a great day that turned out to be.
I still can't believe Ohio State was ranked 20th at one point this season
It's always a struggle to read them over the weekend or save them for some of the slower days at work. Nothing like having a giant grin on my face and no way to properly express it around a bunch of non-OSU fans.
Revel in the Buckeye hatred; it makes the win more satisfying.
