Lest we forget the play of the game (non-Bosa division):
PG <3 PG
The dude in black looks like Carpenter. Just needed A.J. Hawk to show up...
They'd keep 'em all off the field...
Got M...igan gossip? Bang it here.
Carpenter is a fair comparison, but I had him pegged for Nick Mangold
Removal by suplex...
Did that buffoon think that stunt wouldn't end poorly?
I mean, he does play for the Steelers.
Of course, you mean he looks like Carpenter if Carpenter really let himself go. Right?
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
"We were concerned about their pass game going in, you take away three plays — which you can’t — we played the rest of them pretty decent. Now, we gotta get the three that we gave up fixed, we can’t allow that, we’re not gonna allow that, it's not acceptable but we’ll get it addressed tomorrow.”
I knew that the defense would get fixed and continue to improve after reading that. Coach Ash did wonders but so did Fickell. We gave up some big pass plays the rest of the season but we did a great job of limiting them. Opposing teams were lucky to get 1.

2014 Defense: 2 seasons! Season 1, games 1-12; Season 2, post season, smothering kicka_ _ SILVER BULLET DEFENSE. Talk about coming together at the right time!
Luke Fickell and David Ash proved to be the right combination.
GO BUCKS!!! Enjoy the moment!!
"There are 3 things that can happen and 2 of them are bad" - the Curse of Woody Hayes
That UC touchdown before the half was the lowpoint on the year for the silver bullets. So hard to imagine that same group of players shut down Oregon's offense in the National Championship 4 months later.
Joey Bosa is a boss.
If you wanna watch the Bosa sack its at roughly 30:30 in the video.
Kiel is the first QB in my (albeit short) memory that was absolutely afraid to take a hit. All season long he slid around that field like it was soccer. Man up kid.
Blake Sims is kinda like that. You hurt his feelings once and the rest of the game he's looking for an excuse to dump the ball off. That's what made Steve's pick-6 fly like an eagle. The bullets made him nervous and he threw it to Amari without a second's thought.
I'll remember that Bosa hit for a long time... Almost immediately after it happened my uncle texted me, "HOLY SHIT IS KIEL STILL ALIVE?" Dude hates OSU as a Gopher fan and he raves about Bosa.
When you consider how new Chris Ash's system was to the players - and how young they were - giving up some big plays that early in the season shouldn't have been all that surprising.
What is amazing though, is that by the end of the season, our pass defense was actually one of the best in the nation. Even with the early struggles, our guys finished in the top 20 in pass defense. Imagine what they'll be able to achieve next season -
I just did. In the Era of Da Spread O, we allow the fewest TDs of the entire FBS

I was sitting in C Deck close to the end zone where Bosa knocked Kiel into another universe, that play was amazing. Also, as a little footnote to this game, Cardale came in for some mop up duty and we promptly lost 20 yards on a bad snap - not quite a harbinger of things to come!
I'm certain I've seen Cardale lose big yardage on another bad snap in a different game by not wanting to throw the ball away. I can't remember which game, though. Was it the spring game?
'in a game that was in doubt for the first 14 minutes of play'
I don't know about the rest of you but I was sweating bullets at 33-28 well into the third. I do recall our last National Title included a WAY TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT win over the bearcats too. I must say I am enjoying the game reviews.
The pain of discipline or the pain of regret, take your pick
Was there not a "Film Study" or "Film Breakdown" article for the Cincinnati or Kent State games? Those were included in the "Chase Complete" articles for Navy and Virginia Tech.
I'm really loving these walks down recent mammory lane. It really is a testament to this team and coaching staff how far they came. After this "game" I was saying, "Yeah, we beat Cincy, but what about the B1G? MSU is going to skull fu*k us." Thank the good Lord I was wrong.

Say it isn't so
Also, this game gave us the debut of The Shrug, courtesy of that Gunner Kiel hit.
Can't wait for Sacksburg in Blacksburg! Think Urbz will run it up?
Blacksburg VA, Can't wait going to be there. First game of 2015 Sept 7th a Monday night. National TV game.
Yes. Yes, he will. Why? Because his young men deserve the opportunity to exorcise a demon. Re-read comments from the players after that loss, and answers to questions about it throughout the entire season. Hell, I bet they know the names of all the prominent naysayers who deemed the Buckeyes "DOA" after that.
They will deliver an epic beatdown of the Hokies.
Maybe this observation has already been stated. Did anyone else notice that Gunner Kiel DID NOT have his mouth piece in when Bosa slammed him?
You can see his mouth piece sticking out the top of his helmet. If I know Joey Bosa is coming for my ass, you can bet - I'm gonna have my mouth piece in my mouth - not stuck in my helmet.
I think that red thing that looks like its sticking out of his helmet might be a piece of brain matter.
Glad I caught this post. I almost posted the same comment. I think that's supposed to be a penalty too.
Energy derives from both the plus and negative
The look of terror on Kiel's face in the picture above, that just really says it all for me.
Loved the Bosa hit on Kiel. Also, a Cincinnati player won my award for best name in college football for the 2014 season = Leviticus Payne.
The Bearcats have an entire lineup of great names:
Gunner Kiel, Munchie Legaux, Silverberry Mouhon, Leviticus Payne, they even have a Mike Tyson!
Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.
Those sound like a bunch of Gus nicknames from the show Psych. That's awesome!
Just something so sweet about thumping the Bearcats.its a long story, but I despise them more than 99% of the teams out there.really enjoyed this one on a personal level.
In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Used to not have too much of a problem with them till that started that Ohio's BCS school campaign a few years ago and those Buckeye State shirts with UC highlight in their logo. They have some really arrogant, hateful fans too that are really delusional to think they are on OSU's level. It's sad. They don't realize that when they go 6-6 there coach gets a job at Notre Dame or an contract extension. OSU goes 6-6 and they get pissed and go get Urban Meyer cause that's just not acceptable.
Delusional is the perfect word,I have a lot of family in that area and a lot of people there somehow think they're on the same level.and don't get me started on Kentucky basketball ( and I know they're great this year).it truly is like another state down there.but urban and coombs are planting the flag!
Pretty amazing that this game was arguably closer throughout than the Oregon victory.
The national championship victory this year was really remarkable. I still think I am dreaming. I always dream up far fetched scenarios like beating Michigan 77-0 but they never happen. This year my far fetched scenario was basically what ended up happening.
I enjoy seeing the Buckeyes beat Cincinnati almost as much as seeing them beat Michigan.
Here's to the next 117 years of beating Cincinnati.
Caught a glimpse of Kosta on the sideline. It caught me off guard.Still hard to get over. RIP
