Thanks Birm for the updates!!!
Did you know...
Jeremy Birmingham once ate three Thurmanators for breakfast. "They don't sell Thurmonators for breakfast!" you say? Well this IS Jeremy Birmingham that we're talking about here.

Holy buckeye! I miss Thurman Cafe. I lived two blocks away from it. I would go to the lil cafe next to it for breakfast. And then we would go there for chickenwings. or their buffalo chicken sandwich. so amazing.
I will be shocked if the Buckeyes dont get at least 1 of the DT.
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.
Go Buckeyes Beat Michigan
When is "the dead period" over?
After Saturday, with the excellent play and deeper rotation of the D-linemen, you would think that top prospects would be jumping at the chance to play for Larry Johnson and the Buckeyes.
Birm, if adding another DL is a major priority will they extend an offer out to Hamilton if they strike out on the top 4? If Hamilton does end up getting an offer do you see him flipping? Do you think it would be a reach for OSU? And finally are there any other names other than Hamilton they can turn to?
I trust that we will have a least 2 stud d-linemen in this class, with Beckner imo being one of them

Receiving more intel that points to #FSU for 5-star DE Josh Sweat. We'll find out for sure at 10am Wednesday AM

well that sucks
No kidding, even though we play them again next year, I was hoping it would be VT (if not us, obviously).
If FSU can keep up, we'll play them both this year and next year
Then so be it, we can develop 4 star guys to play lights out! We have the staff.
The D Line recruiting is a perfect illustration of how challenging recruiting must be. I give these coaches props for their persistence in the face of such a difficult process. Working with teenagers is challenging enough, as what matters to them is often quite different than an adult views as highest priority. Then you add to that the fact most of these kids have been treated like royalty their whole lives and you get a dynamic I personally wouldn't want to deal with no matter what you paid.
Come on recruits, there is about to be lots of spots opening up on the Dline between this year and next! If you want to play early and on a unit that is getting back to it's old ways now the time is to "enlist" so to speak

Hunch says we get 1 of the 3 out of Sweat, Beckner, and Harris. Never underestimate Urban's closing abilities...

Always be closing
Feels like DL, RB and WR have all been rough sells this class....which makes very little sense.
Tough sells because we are young and deep at both RB and WR... DL is what makes little sense...
Glad I got a chance to have an in home visit with Coach Meyer and the staff! @OSUCoachMeyer #GoBucks pic.twitter.com/Oma9zUyRu0

Tremendous write up Birm!!! Did anyone see Warren for TCC? #40 wowsers!!!!! He's another guy the Bucks need to keep on the radar. Our Dline situation will take care of its self. There is quality in that bunch top to bottom. Any chance Briscoe play's offense for Bucks?

Nice find 68 - get that little guy in the photo ready
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
I think the "problem" with the DLine is a combination of two things. You've got a group of kids who have been tight lipped about where they are heading and the same kids wanting to play day 1. So with Ohio State I'd think you'd look at the team next year and say Washington and Bosa aren't coming off the field. That means two positions are up for grabs with five guys already on the team looking to get playing time. If you are one of guys OSU is chasing you're probably realistically thinking there's one spot open. If I go in there and bust my butt there's one spot. Four of five kids thinking about one spot who happen to be tight lipped kids means the dominoes can't start falling until one of these kids commits to play somewhere. They're not going to end up on the same team even though they have similar offers.
Having said that don't think we offer on defense what Sweat is looking for so I'd expect him to be the domino tomorrow that picks another team.
There is no doubt this staff is relentless in everything they do - mentoring, coaching, teaching, recruiting, etc. We are fortunate to have such dedicated coaches at THE OSU

Stay golden, Ponyboy.
We do have a lot of Dbacks... and very young safeties... makes room for a position of need.
Sad to see him go obviously... but looking at this from his perspective I can see why he has moved on.
Here's the great thing about the playoffs.... Were only a game away from the national championship and get a ton of extra exposure. And if we end up winning it all expect atleast a few of these guys to consider us a lot more heavily. Happens every year
Do we have a time when Sweat commits tomorrow?
Every time I set my DVR to record Biggest Loser......It always records Wolverine Football Games!
Who is running practice this week?
The coaches really hit the road jack... I imagine there is more travel involved in a Meyers coached team... the recruitment seems more nationwide which is paying off. Remembering well us going after top recruits outside of the Midwest and always thinking not a chance... but now somehow this staff and its recruiting ways... always seems to keep hope alive.
Go bucks and bring home 3 More Buckeyes! Would be amazing to get Gillamore(or Wilkins), Cager and Beckner...Weber if we can take 4....Indeed looking forward to signing day....and then doing this all again!
I live in Kentucky. Not too far away from where Harris is. There is a feeling around the Kentucky football program that Harris might not commit to Kentucky. Some feel Alabama could be in the driver seat but they think this Sugar Bowl might decide where he goes. Many people I talk to that are closely associated with the Kentucky Football program believe that he is convinced UK is not a viable option. They are continuing to keep recruiting him and hard. There is an uneasy feeling down here.
Football is a religion in Ohio. We attend our service every fall on the banks of the Olentangy. A place we affectionately call "the shoe".
Hoping obviously that we at least get one of these kids. But if not, we're going to have to really go afte DTs hard in '15. Im not into the 2016 recruiting very much yet, other than our commits and a few other big name kids. Are there any stud DTs in Ohio or elsewhere that we have a good shot with?
I HATE ESPN
It is shocking how the DLine, particularly DT recruiting is going. I know that they have depth, but Bosa and Washington (assuming he returns) are the only locks to start. That's two open positions. With how much OSU rotates up front, 2-3 true freshmen could see PT if they bust it in camp and have the skill and determination to learn the defensive playbook.
One thing I am interested in knowing is how much longer do we have to wait for Brendan Ferns to commit? I want that kid in the next class badly. Seems like a really well rounded player.
"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed, is more important than any other one thing." - Abraham Lincoln
The D-line circumstance is puzzling. It seems to me that players who are so highly ranked, and appear to be doing there homework relative to the potential destinations, would not shy away from competition aka depth chart. Hardly any HS players come in and start their first year, and it usually has nothing to do with their athletic ability. It is almost always determined by their ability to grasp the playbook, etc. Anybody that can choose from Bama, FSU, OSU, Auburn, etc. really can't make a bad choice imo. That being said, if you're not afraid of competition at your position, your goal is getting to the NFL, and winning championships, then I don't see how anyone could choose a school other than Bama or OSU (if they have offered). I would never consider FSU with the huge stank cloud down there, regardless of what their coaches say. Larry Johnson, Urban Meyer, and the exposure you get at OSU should be enough.
But what do I know...
Thank the Maker that I was born in Ohio, cradle of coaches, US Presidents, confederate-stomping Generals, and home of The Ohio State University Football Buckeyes- 2014 UNDISPUTED National Champions!
