Actually an incomplete pass that was incorrectly ruled a fumble initially - though it was perhaps one of the most absurd-looking incomplete passes you'll ever see.
OCD, Obie One, O My Word ---
I think. You think. We think differently.
Please try to see what is positive in the hand the Buckeyes have been dealt today.
Remember -- this is already a 'Miracle Team' from our first setback preseason.
Have a little faith, my friend.
Sorry. Just pointing out the irony in the celebration that our now starting QB can really tackle. Shouldn't we celebrate something more familiar to the QB position?
A throw that was tipped at the line.
Yep. Some poor soul is going to get truck-sticked next week.
I wish I could UV this twice...or more. Thanks for the reminder. I needed that.
fuck tom herman…his offense is a joke, why note give Zeke the ball more… what a shit OC…hope he gets another job so we can get an OC with a brain in…I am so sorry Braxton and JT, you deserve better.
Yeah, you might end up in jail. But I understand your thoughts to a point.
Priority #1: Beat Michigan
Pay it forward
We have running qbs deal with it. Thats why we need two or three good ones
Thats such a crap excuse man, lots of teams have running QBs but JT ran a RIDICULOUS amount today and it cost him his season. Yes Im aware the one that got was an option that he chose to keep but the amount of runs were outrageous. I too, am sick of Herman.
He didn't run any more than he usually runs. He had 15 carries. There have been games where he has been in the 20's. It wasn't the amount of runs. Unfortunately, injuries happen in football.
But there's something to b said about limiting the number of runs to protect the long term health of ur QB. Last time I checked rotating QB's in and out all season isn't a good strategy...
That's right we do need 2 or 3 good ones. Braxton isn't out because he runs too much. we have TG coming next year JB coming, Collier on the bench... Plenty of talent in the funnel on campus next year. Just gotta get it done 3 more times... O-H!!!
"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, you are a leader." -John Quincy Adams
I agree, the dude is so vanilla. We need for him to accept the HC job at SMU and move on,take his MENSA papers and all. Seriously, our offense has not been creative against good competition (we did well against MSU). Sure. we can put 60 points and 700 yards up against KSU but we can't do anything against the gauntlet this is the B1G (with all of our national talent we have to show for).
What we can't do in the air we'll do on the ground.
Michigan's QBs have been healthy for years.
Should we hire hoke?
"The future is bright at Ohio State." - Urban Meyer 1/1/15
Throw this bum in jail please
Yeah, lets throw people in jail for their opinion. You commie...
Chad Morris looks like he's getting the smu gig.
Sure glad I wasn't watching the game with you today. Do you think anyone on the team, JT included, blames Herman for this injury?
That was a seriously fast spinal tap.
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.
Go Buckeyes Beat Michigan
Without Herman, we wouldn't have JT on the team. We also wouldn't be one of the elite offenses in the nation.
I have to agree... While Herman can call ignorant shit from on an alarmingly consistent basis, he does know how to squeeze every yard out of his offenses.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
I'm not sure you understand how a read option works. Every single play could go to Zeke but its up to JT to read the defense. If JT wanted to save his body he could hand off on every play. He read poorly and got a freak injury.
We could go to a different coach with a different offensive scheme but I personally prefer that we set school records every year. Once the defense is as good as the offense this team will be scary good.
I've been saying this since the injury happened. JT wasn't his best on reading the read-option today. That play SHOULD have gone to Zeke.
This. Hand to Zeke and he picks up the first down.
"There's a fine line between stupid, and....clever. David St. Hubbins/Nigel Tufnel
Thank you for the simple but intelligent analysis. Something lacking in this thread.
Dont understand how people can be upset with the play calling. Miss st is done. Fsu in trouble and two more top teams could fall.
I have no idea how FSU won that game. Very soon the Noles are going to get murdered by 4 TDs.
Their passing game is less than non existent.
"The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes." - EACommunityTeam
The Noles have won the last 3 games by a COMBINED 12 points. Just wait until those fools come across an angry Buckeye team (god willing). How sweet would it be to see our boys dismantle the Criminoles on a National stage?
Florida State pulls it out of their arse every week and they are appluaded for 'knowing how to win'. Buckeyes win by 2 TDs after giving up a late TD and 'just getting by' teams. BC is not as good as Minnesota, Indiana won and believe finished 6-6 and beat SEC East winner. But somehow someway this win will be looked at is not convincing enough.
Baylor QB took a concussion late. Oregon has to play Arizona again and they've beat Oregon the last two times. Alabama is good but this is probably their worst defense in years. All that said......let's be honest the OSU defense is far from a shutdown defense. OSU winning by outscoring teams but that's what they are going to have to do. I will be a big Mizzou fan next week. Bama is the only team I am worried about but that was before the JT injury. I gotta feeling the CFP committee is going to do their best to keep the Buckeyes out of it. They need to beat Bucky Badger badly.
You can say that again.
Betcha can't post this a fourth time!
Get well soon JT!
Ms State loses!!!!
(I say that with Ole Miss up 31-17 with 5:15 left)
I had no idea I was a huge Ole Miss fan, GO REBS!!!
Bama is in trouble too...no sec in the playoffs?!!! Good thing i wore my boner pants.
Get busy living.
Get well soon young man, Next man up!
85 yards through the heart of the South.....
I'm done with that sentiment. I would like the current man to last the entire season.
Other teams fans blame the refs when they lose, our fans blame the coaches when we're 35-3 the last 3 seasons and someone gets hurt.
Come on dude, we need someone to blame when our redshirt freshman QB breaks the B1G single season TD record.
Blame scUM. Bosa came on the field after Barrett got hurt and tried to take Gardner's head off.
Yes! JT breaks every record he can & gets himself into Heisman contention, & the QB coach, you know - the guy teaching JT what to do weekly - Tom Herman - is most certainly to blame for his injury! Also, he's obviously super bad at his job. That's the ticket. An injury that can happen to anybody with the ball in their hands, at any time in this sport during any given play btw...
Oh yeah, and Braxton's tears his shoulder while throwing during practice...who's fault is that? You guessed it, that damn Tom Herman again! That SOB!!! I can't even begin to imagine how he sleeps at night. He's obviously the devil!
Look, Urban Meyer's offenses have always required a QB who can run. Kids who come to OSU to play QB know they'll be running the ball. I imagine they like the idea. I hate name calling, but the plain stupidity of some of the comments blaming him is flat out alarming. Do I agree with every play Herman calls? No, but that's the nature of sports - you 2nd guess coaches. The fact that this offense is as high powered as it is, is to be admired. Tom Herman's job isn't easy. This isn't the south where the weather is more conducive to a spread offense where you can air it out regularly because it rarely gets colder than 60 degrees. This is cold ass B1G country...and in the month of November it's just plain harder to throw the ball all over with accuracy. So, you'll likely have to run more in as it gets colder. That then means the QB runs more too. It was a freak accident & there's nobody to blame. If anything, we should be pretty grateful we have coaches who can take a guy who was the 3rd string QB in the spring & have him playing at an elite level, not to mention having a team that lost to Va Tech in playoff contention...
Great points Poison, although it was a long winded post. I upvoted you after the first couple paragraphs and read on and scrolled down. Once I got down far enough, I went back up to upvote and realized it had already been done.
One day I will valiantly become a political prisoner of 11W jail.
Ha - yeah - I was pretty pissed when I wrote it I guess. I just re-read & realized it was long. Thanks btw!
Expect Wisconsin to Load. The. Box. They're gonna make CJ win it and I don't blame them one bit. We'll find out if he can.
Defense is going to have to play their best game yet because Gordon and clement are coming and the passing attack is just good enough to keep defenses honest.
Yep, they are going to make Cardale beat them with his arm.
When you lose, say little. When you win, say less.
And so he shall.
Wish we did have more footage to show it but he does have a good arm, he just needs to settle down a bit - that boy seems to be a bit hyperactive. I just hope they have him practice that deep ball to Devin Smith cause starting off with a play like that would make Wisconsin rethink their strategy right away.
Can we have a goddamn article that doesn't mention VT?? Fuck VT.
Fuck VD! Sorry, wrong thread....
They're all chickens. The rooster has sex with all of them.
Miss st just lost
42-28 win over TTUN = Sunshine and lollipops for a whole year.
all I ever care about is a win over TTUN.
jt got his 1st victory over TTUN today. I am going to remember fondly all the hapiness he brought me this season .
I agree. As much as I want OSU to do all the great things they can in CFB, the thing I will always care most about is beating that team. Last year, they lost to MSU & lost to Clemson, at the end of the year, but it wasn't a bad season for me because aside from winning 12 games they beat UM & that matters most in my book. JT is the man for what he did all year & especially what he did today & as sad as I am for the guy to have his season end the way it did - I believe he had one hell of a year & accomplished the single most important thing (in football anyway) an OSU QB can do!
Hope this kid is as good as everyone says he is. He's definitely athletic, I just worry about his intelligence. This is the kid that "ain't came her to play school", I am sorry if I am a little sceptic.
Septic or sceptic? Cardale Jim Plunkett Jones is gonna show up.
"Age wrinkles the body, quitting wrinkles the soul" Woody Hayes
Despite all that he, I believe, is a 3.4 student and that whole tweet about "aint come here to play school" was just a bad joke he wishes he never had sent.
Rece Davis brought it up today as meaning that he was going to fake classes.
Rece Davis runs his mouth about OSU (and the Big Ten) every single time during his ESPN podcasts. Rece is a fanboy just like Pollack and Dez. He has zero credibility.
I think Rece went to TSUN.
Rece Davis went to Bama
Well then screw that guy.
God forbid a kid ever make a mistake. He sent out a silly tweet. Sorry for the language, but so fucking what?! Who gives a shit man - let him grow for God's sake.
You want to doubt him? Doubt him for his lack of meaningful game reps, not because he once committed the unholy error of of putting out some ill advised words on a social media platform 3 years ago.
We will see what this team is made of next week. They have been under clouds all year with Braxton going down, Spence suspension and ultimate dismissal, Marcus leaving, Rod Smith dismissal, Kosta's situation and now Barrett's injury. We pull out the B1G Championship I don't give a damn if the committee puts us in the NC contention. This teams been through hell and this coaching staff has done a hell of a job with this season. Hats off to all of them!
Ridiculous to see it all in one place. This season is gonna be a 60 for 60 film in a few decades.
if i could give ya more than one up vote i would come hell or high water it's been a good year no matter how it ends and next year is looking better yet
Thank you STC - perfectly said!
I wanna cry after that statement, stcburn. Can I cry? Is it okay that I wanna cry at somerhing so beautiful and meaningful and truthful? I mean, it's not like that. I can be a hardass. It's just I wanna cry. That's all. You know. Buckeye tears kinda cry.
Very well said!!
This offense seems to fall back on the qb to make plays with his feet when the other team D is playing well. Braxton took a beating in big games too. And now it happens again. The OL did not control the LOS today- that put JT in bad situations.
Urban seemed pretty pleased with the O-Line after the game.
You all are entitled to your opinions that coach Herman is a bad OC. I am entitled to my opinion that you are all morons that know nothing. Injuries are a part of the game. Ugly injuries happen rarely, and I understand you being emotional. Lashing out at the coaching staff for an accidental injury is child's play, though. He could have taken the same injury on a sack or a scramble. There is no one to blame for an injury like that...get over it.
You're right, he very well could have suffered that injury in the pocket.
I think the difference here is putting your quarterback in a situation where he is tempting fate more than usual. Your quarterback simply does not have to run the ball more than 5-10 times a game to be an effective run threat for defenses to be concerned about.
Meyer has said multiple times that he wants to reduce the number of quarterback carries.
They have more than enough weapons to give the ball to on the ground without running the quarterback 15-25 times a game.
That's the offense we run though. Auburn won a title and damn near won another one last year. Oregon is always in the top 5 running that offense too. I personally want to see this offense more than I want to see 3 step drops and running Dave 80% of the game. Let's use our weapons to the best of their capabilities. Pryor was wasted in the offense we ran when he was here. Guys like Braxton and JT work in this offense. Injuries happen and it sucks, but we can put up points on any defense out there.
I am not saying to stop running the offense. Just draw back on the QB runs. Use the stable of running backs and H-backs they have.
Miller and JT are not as big as Tebow, and they averaged more rushes per game than he did. They also averaged way more rushes per game than Mariotta and Nick Marshall.
No because a run with the RB or H-Back is not the same as a quarterback run... This is how our offense runs like it or not and they run it damn well.
Ask Melvin Gordon if he needs the quarterback to run in order to open up the running game.
Wasnt blaming any coach just making an observation.
We'll see what Jones is made of. Ohio State Jones has gotta be what like ten times better than Indiana Jones? We'll be ok.
The only good thing about The Game is winning it - Urban Meyer
Cardale is not our concern it's our DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I
I know their playing hard but not getting off blocks, not taking right angles, not paying attention to their key reads, not much better than last years debacle!!!!!!!!!!!
Going to be objective here this team couldn't compete with any of the top teams in the country 90 percent of time Michigan St was a Fluke!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure if your serious or not? I'm confused. WTF are you ranting about?
I'm going to be objective here. You are a moron.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Take your pick: moron or troll
You need to stop commenting bucnutforever.......you moron. You could always root for ttun.
Does anyone have an idea of how long it would likely be until JT can work again? I had an ankle injury, but it wasn't a break, so my experience does little to shed light on the amount of time that Barrett will be down.
Not that this is a HUGE question, but with two QBs down, I think it needs to be asked. Who will be our back-up next week? Marshall? I kinda got the feeling today that Meyer is getting tired with Marshalls hands...
do do we have a 4th QB on scholarship?
I would have to think that Marshall will be the back-up. Hell, Marshall may end up starting QB before next Saturday roll around. Lol
Stephen Collier is on the sidelines and suited up
Agree that this defense is not a final four team defense. After today the offense is not either. What is Jim Heacock doing these days?
If we beat Wisky and win the B1G, Urbs should win Coach of the Year, hands down.
You mean the Kirk Ferentz Coach of the Year award? Sorry, never gonna happen, no matter how much he deserves it.
If the Bucks make it outta Indy with a win, they have earned a spot in the final four. TCU and Baylor? Please. Paper tigers, a product of the AP Poll.
My final four if bammer drops the Auburn game but wins the SEC title game: Oregon, FSU, the Bucks and I think the Tide doesn't roll into the playoff so much as back in.
Regardless of what happens in Indy, give the whole team props. It's a successful season. 11-1 regular season. Warts Included.
I've been preaching all year that 1 conference absolutely will not get 2 teams in. As things are starting to shake out, I can see a world in which 2 Big 12 teams get in!
And what a sad sad playoff that would be, imo. Big 12 is so weak right now.
The other day when people kept talking nonsense about Braxton being an H-Back or transferring out, all I could think was, "let's not tempt fate here". We are always so superstitious about talking about speculating on the future and overlooking games, why on earth would we get so far ahead of ourselves about next year's QB situation in this violent game. I don't know how long it'll take JT to rehab or if Braxton will be healthy going forward, I just know we definitely didn't need to be worrying what to do with Braxton next year. Talk about snapping you back to reality!
Too damn bad Braxton's not ready to go tomorrow.
I think we have found the only way to be depressed after a win over TTUN. What a bummer.
Said the same thing to my brother earlier. Sucks to not be able to celebrate like we should after beating them for the 12th time in 14 years and driving out a third coach in that time span.
Adversity....we've been flirting with you all year long, why not pour on some more...proud of this team, keep fighting, stay together, and keep finding ways to win. All of Columbus and alumni all over the world are behind you
A little is better than nada, sometimes you want the whole enchilada
How many teams in history have lost 2 top 10 Heisman finalists in one season to injury? It has to just be us, right? I mean, that's just fucking ridiculous.
Disneys starting to write the movie script, to be released in 2015! They're just waiting for C.Jones to win the title. Go Buckeyes
"I was tired of trying to work my way around the back so I just ran him over.” - Joey Bosa
As great as J.T. Barrett is, he's a product of the system. Obviously a great, record-breaking system proven by the dynamic Miller and now Barrett. The hope is, Cardale can be another effective component to this system. Be a 'game manager' bulldozer, whatever you need to be. Just get it done Cordale.
Will see what you Goofs have to say after next week Elmbuckeye ,Tigersweat,Daitheflu,Tkebuck1.
Looks like we have to burn Colliers redshirt
i say we will see Marshall take some snaps sat
Was anybody else watching ESPN during haltime of the Bama game? Because I can't be the only one that heard Mark May rip not only the Buckeyes, but also Cardale Jones calling him the Santa Maria because he's a "large" QB and he's from Columbus
We're all a bunch of nuts
May sure loves to dial up the hate. I think our team will be plenty motivated for next week's playoff game. It's still a championship caliber team.
