Sounds about right. This is a good way to send a message and continue to build on a culture. Best of luck to Sprinkle in what lies ahead, either in Cbus or somewhere else.
Yep. You put rules to live by on the locker room wall for all to see, you better enforce the hell out of those.
This allows the justice system to run its course. Bad situation for all and I hope Sprinkle gets his affairs in order but choices were made and consequences will be decided and lived with pending the legal course.
Is is it too early to ask to change my screen name to "Grown & Sexy"?
Indeed, and he was around through all last year's Summer issues...
So we aren't going to wait for a team vote on this?...
Damn you beat me to it. Ole Les Miles would be getting the ballots and pencils ready as we speak
He ain't even stretch doe!!
Especially the pencil part, just in case one of his illiterate player could'nt read which ones were the stay or go boxes.
A little erasure work, bingo 100% vote to "Let em stay".
"...the man who really counts in the world is the doer, not the mere critic-the man who actually does the work, even if roughly and imperfectly, not the man who only talks or writes about how it ought to be done." President T. Roosevelt
The funny part about your Les Miles reference is that he and Sprinkle went to the same high school.

The funny part about any Les Miles reference is Les Miles.
Everyone can hang em up, D'fresh just won the Internet today!

Props to Urban for handling this swiftly and doing what I consider to be the right thing here. Best of luck to Sprinkle and I hope that the rest of the team can finally realise that they need to watch every action they commit and avoid putting themselves in situations what may lead to mistakes.
"Tracy Sprinkle is no longer a part of the Ohio State football team," sports information director Jerry Emig said in a text. "His status will be re-evaluated after all legal issues are resolved."
Despite the outcome of the legal side of things, I don't see Sprinkle being part of the program in the future.
I don't see Sprinkle being part of the program in the future.
Could this happen just for...
1. being underage in a bar?
2. being in a bar at 2am?
3. being in a bar fight?
4. not learning from last year?
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
5. Being in a place called "The Grown and Sexy Lounge?"
Better judgement allows me to cut a wide path around places like this. It's like going to a restaurant that has a sign out front that reads "Good Food." I'll pass, thank you.
6. Being led away from the scene by friends after police telling you to leave, and then getting into another scuffle at the scene and being arrested. Wasted oppotunity, he was given another chance to walk away without issue, and failed to take it..
I truly hope he can learn from this and get another chance, somewhere.
not 100% right.....the supposed victim said he was hit in the face with a bottle and the police had to arrest....he did have the chance to leave but stood around with the crowd until he was pointed out.....did i just make this seem even more insane....
My thoughts exactly.
There's a titty bar in Toledo called Deja Vu, appropriately.
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
That is what I thought as well. Good luck to the guy, though. Such a crappy situation.
You can feed a bobcat all the chili it wants. That don't mean it's going to crap out diamonds.
Another sad story of wasted potential. Praying he gets his life back on track no matter where he ends up.
The bad news is we lost a defensive lineman, the good news is it gives Urban room for another recruit. This is sometimes what is needed for a teen to turn his life around and head In the right direction.
Gotta hope this young man is able to stay in school and hit the books. Dumb question but does he keep his scholarship? Staying in school may be the best way for him to maintain some semblance of normalcy. It would be a shame to see him off the team AND out of school with no structure in his life.
Not a dumb question, i was wondering the same thing :p
If i could change my username, i would
no....i think you really have 4 , 1 year scholarships ....
I seem to recall that urban was giving out true 4 year scholarships instead of the (4) 1 year scholarships.....could be wrong but I think I read that before
Whatever type of schollie a school gives I believe there is probably a legal clause that prohibits illegal activity detrimental to the University. Therefore, I would bet they pull his schollie if he is found guilty. Similar scenario to pro contracts becoming null and void when you don't compose yourself properly.
I wouldn't call it a shame----I'd call it reality.
Best of luck to the guy. Hopefully he learned from it... Looks like Urban can now enjoy the rest of his vacation.
Hopefully Tracy pleads this down, takes care of his business and returns to the team in 2015.
Los Angeleno by birth; Marionaire by the Grace of President Warren G. Harding.
I hope the same, DJ. We've all seen too often that things can spiral downward after an incident like this.
Curious, would he still have 3 yrs availible I imagine, or would a suspended year count against?
I would hope that they would reevaluate if he is found not guilty, given that he is in good academic standing and this is his first character issue. Kids should be allowed a second chance if they are good people.
Do "Grown and Sexy" people get a second chance oo?
Urban giveth and Urban takeith away.
Urban giveth and Tracy throws it away.
These guys have been told time & time again to do what is asked and stay outta trouble. I agree with Urban's decision to dismiss him now. He's trying to build a dominant, championship team here. No time for babysitting. Those who wish to be buckeyes and win a title will keep their nose clean and take pride in wearing the scarlet n gray! How do you not learn from mistakes made by former players? Hard to feel sorry for any of them that screw up at this point. Hopefully they all can move forward and LEARN from this. As a huge buckeye fan, it gets old hearing about guys flushing their opportunity down the drain. I can only imagine Urban's reaction. (Plus I believe he was on vacation)
Good riddance thug
Can DJ Ramzy write an article "How to not be an asshole in general"?
I think that's right in Ramzy's wheelhouse.
My bad, Earle.
God knows we have plenty of posters to use as "flaming inferno" examples.
Squirrel, what about Fada!?
Cop: What's in the bags son?
Sprinkle : That was dope man.
Tracy, ever visit Auburn or Louisville before?
Regardless of whether or not he wears S&G ever again, I hope Tracy Sprinkle can get through this and move forward with his life.
No matter what the pundits say, it looks to me like Ohio State took the action they had to make - when they had to make it.
I cringe at these type of off-season stories. I hope this sends a clear message to the rest of the team.
Chance that "Grown & Sexy Lounge" t-shirt sales will double from the exposure.
Thank the Maker that I was born in Ohio, cradle of coaches, US Presidents, confederate-stomping Generals, and home of The Ohio State University Football Buckeyes- 2014 UNDISPUTED National Champions!
Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the Ohio State football program is rogue, lawless, and out of control under Urban Meyer. Also, Meyer planted the coke on Sprinkle to open up a scholarship.
One day I will valiantly become a political prisoner of 11W jail.

edit: was not aware this was posted below already
Bet you can't say "Bert Bielma is a bumbling buffoon" five times fast.
I agree with Meyer here. Take everything away, let the legal process play out and then re-evaluate.
Wow, he was one of the last Buckeye that I would of expected trouble from. I do not know him, but Im just judging on what I have been seeing from him on Social Media ever since he commited to OSU. This sucks, I always hate to see wasted talent.
Side note, if he is truely kicked off the team does that free up a SCholly this year or next year?
Where can I get "Grown & Sexy Lounge" franchise information?
"The height of human desire is what wins, whether it's on Normandy Beach or in Ohio Stadium." -Wayne Woodrow Hayes
*edit* lol this has to be one of the least supporting communities around. i get down votes because i express mixed feelings? lol. maybe i should just post a boom pic and make it all better
I'm not sure how I feel about this.
On one hand, I'm happy Urban is giving out justice with a heavy stick. we need that kind of culture at ohio state. ofc...it remains to be seen what would happen if this were Braxton.....
I also know that some say this will help the young man in his development. They then offer stories to bolster their point.
On the other hand, I don't want to kick a kid off of the team. we could suspend him for half of the season and make him work his ass off. i hear the stadium steps are beautiful at 6AM. let him learn from and pay for his mistakes. he is a part of the buckeye family so we shouldn't cast him aside so quickly. ofc....idk if this is his first run in with trouble. if it isn't, i don't have an argument here. at this point, i hope all of us can just support the kid and hope he lands on his feet. trust me, he knows more than anyone what it means to have lost his opportunity now that its GONE.
the other point i want to raise deals with the message we want to send about ohio state discipline. urban may be kicking him off the team to set a narrative for those looking to scrutinize our program. i honestly don't care what everyone thinks about our program. i know that our coaches, both urban and tress, have done their best to produce quality young men. they are trying the best they can to keep these boys in line and sometimes it is out of their control. the media will talk about us, other fanbases will mock us, but i really don't care. they will talk and criticize regardless. heck, even with kicking sprinkle off the team i'm certain that there dbags blaming his actions on meyer and making comparisons to clarett and the tat5. i dont care about those people and i don't want our punishments to have any outside influence.
it really doesn't matter what urban does, some will always blame him...not surprising
The statement from OSU basically says that he's been dismissed from the team for now. Pending the outcome of the legal side of things, his status will be re-evaluated, which makes it sound like a return could be possible.
Yea, I saw that and hope it works out in such a way that finds him back on the team.
thanks for the reply.
I think there's a decent liklihood that additional charges related to hitting the guy with the bottle (allegedly) could be forthcoming. I think there's no choice but to cut him loose pending outcome. This wasn't one minor mistake- this was a bunch of big, stupid actions.
A man got to have a code...
hi sharks, thanks for the reply.
i agree that what happened was a 'bunch of big, stupid actions', but it was a bunch of big stupid actions in ONE incident. things tend to snowball and sometimes young adults don't make the best decision.
Urban has to take a tough stance with any disciplinary actions. Remember, he is not only selling the program to the players, he is also selling the program to the parents as well. I wouldnt want my kid playing on a team I felt was a "win at all costs" type of program that would allow people who engage in this type of activity around my kid. If my kid did something like this, his least concern would be what Urban would do to him. These are not grade school kids. They know right from wrong. And yes, everyone has and will make mistakes, but there are reprecussions for every action. Once you lose the trust of others, it is extremely hard to recover from that if you ever can. Listen, everyone wants to win, but if you get the wrong people in the program, they will destroy it from within and corrupt the others around them.
Well said MB, Well said. Peace.
Hi Big B, thanks for the reply. I agree that it helps show the parents what kind of program urban is running. however, i don't think leaving sprinkle of the team AND giving him a suspension + penance is a 'win at all costs' environment. I think it's just the opposite. the kid can't play on saturdays and he has to work his arse off.
they aren't grade school kids but they are still young adults that are prone to make stupid mistakes. ofc they know right from wrong but if judgment in tight situations was always so clear we would never these type of articles. i don't know of any priors from sprinkle but if he is a hard worker on the team why not be a bit more lenient?
although when compared with a suspension, a dismissal pending legal outcomes can be viewed as one in the same.
I may be off-base here, but didn't he have a little issue in high school after he committed? I can't really remember what it was.
His older brother got into an argument & was shot & killed in Cleveland.
In my near 40-ish rational mind, that would seem like a wake up call to get out of your situation and don't go down the same path. Unfortunately, some people prefer to learn the hard way.
What are the chances that Sprinkle's was not involved in the riot, and not in possession of an illegal substance, did not try to conceal said substance to avoid prosecution. I see that there are some who are sympathetic towards Sprinkle; if he is a victim in this situation this may be warranted and all rights, privileges, and titles should be reinstated without malice. But if he has any culpability in the events he is accused of should be prosecuted to the extent of his participation. I struggle to comprehend the expressions of sympathy I'm seeing, is this genuine towards the individual or transferred fear this may hurt the team's chances of obtaining a national title?
The Chronicle Telegram published the police report. If it's all true it paints a picture of a guy that's guilty of a little more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I hope this young man takes his punishment and works hard to get his life straight to be a buckeye once again. This should happen at every school. You get out of line and ur done pending on the outcome. Far too many kids are given leeway and do not have to face the music. Look at Winston......how many times can you get in serious trouble and not own what you do/did.
He left town and went full Sprinkle. You never go full Sprinkle.
Ding, ding, ding, ding. We have a winner for the prestigious "Dumbass Who Gets Suspended Because He Can't Handle a Few Weeks Without Coach Supervision" award.
Let's hope he is like Marcus Baugh (and others) - that he takes what he has coming to him, learns from his mistakes, and works his way back into the good graces of the head coach. Or he can hang out on the streets of Toledo and waste a ton of talent.
New 11W Segment: Better Know a Grown & Sexy Buckeye
So El Guapo, one of OSU's most dynamic players last year, missed three games. If Sprinkle is fortunate enough to make it back, I dont see how he'll do anything but ride the pines.
Why couldn't he just do like M.Hall? Give him the finger and be done with it?
Cause he's Grown and Sexy.
The drugs may not be his, but I think there is a good chance the other issues are valid. I mean I haven't been a college kid for a long time but I don't spend much time in my backseat. I think a drug test should be able to determine rather quickly if he was using.
In either case I hope he is able to learn from this and is able to turn things around for the better.
Drugs may not be his, but it is still very bad news for him legally if somebody doesn't admit to "that's my cocaine", because it is still in his possession, not sure if charges will stick though. I had a decent friend in high school, didn't really hang out with him on weekends, but he was driving a friend who had weed on him, that he didn't know about. Drug search of the car brought forth the weed, ended up having to take the fall because the guy in the back seat didn't admit to it as he already had other charges charges pending on him I believe. I can't remember if the driver willingly took the fall for him or not, Lord knows I wouldn't.
Another very sad story- A girl that had graduated from my college with a nursing degree went on a blind date with somebody who had a good reputation amongst people. As she was riding in his car, they were pulled over. She didn't think anything of it, til the drug search brought forth from what I was told "a ton of drugs, big time dealer/seller". Eventually charges were not filed, however as a nurse she had her job suspended/lost for a year, had to obtain a lawyer to fight the nursing court charges, legal fees of over a year plus, had to move back in with parents, until she was finally cleared close to a year later.
I know it's hard to do at times, but I hope Tracy can take that as a lesson learned and make sure the people he runs around with are clean. If it also means he has to avoid bars, I would recommend that as well.
It was found in the backseat of police car #1, not his car.
Thanks for the correction. Either way, this is not going good for Tracy, seeing as how the police are claiming to do a search of the car previously to placing him in the police car.
1) The police's 'word' is worth more than a 'common' citizen.
2) Since this is a reality in a courtroom, I think they should be held to a HIGHER legal standard than a 'common' citizen. When they break the law, they should get absolutely HAMMERED. If they are ABOVE us, they should be treated as such.
Best of luck to the kid and hopefully he can get his stuff together.
Not here to troll...Go Blue
If you die before you die, then you won't die when you die.
I thought Urban's rep at Florida was you can get away with anything... Now, at OSU, it's get your feces together or get lost
What a difference... Go Urbs
I want to see the police dog that can restore order following a riot involving 50 people. Maybe we can give Sprinkle's roster spot to this Lorain PD direwolf?
I'm a streetwalkin' cheetah with a hubcap diamond star halo. I fought the law, I know it's over, and I wanna be sedated.

Wearing the scarlet and gray is an absolute HONOR. If you want to be a BUCKEYE---act like it.
We're old news!! Miami just took our place on the sports news page........
I genuinely approve of the direction Urban is taking the off-field expectations with these guys. Up north, a wink and a signed football for the A2 po-po and the story never even breaks.
Well played Andy
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.
