Well based off his top 3 if he wants to compete for a Championship the choice is obvious
Torrance Gibson: Top 3 of Ohio State, Tennessee, and Miami
We were born to love Ohio State and hate that team up north.
Yes, that was my first thought after looking at those 3 schools...I like our odds against Tenn and the U.
Man! I hope Urban can snag Torrence Gibson. Seems like a nice young man with a good head on his shoulders. I like our chances against Miami and Tennessee. If he visits for the Spring Game, we need to fill the stadium and show him what Buckeye football is all about.
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
Gibson has a lot of patience to get through longer interviews like that.
Powerful story on the autistic child in the last WMD. Thanks for posting that one, DJ!
Who else has the Buckeyes meeting Sparty in the Final Four? That basketball is going to look sweet on the mantle.
Buckeyes, sparty, Wisconsin and louisville
“Anyone can run the option. I can run the option.” - Urban Meyer Let's beat the snot out of *ichigan.
I'm hoping Gibson doesn't drag his recruitment till NSD. Obviously, as a QB, if he wants to be the leader of this class, It'd be preferable if he committed to tOSU this spring or summer at the latest. That way he assumes the role of a leader before even setting foot on campus.
Definitely agree. If we could pull him in, He would be an excellent recruiter. And does anybody know if he plans on enrolling early?
(Get a load of North Carolina's sweet high school-like trophy case.)
I think Indiana has a better football trophy case than that!
(Everyone except Michigan. I hope those bums stay mired in mediocrity — where they see just enough flashes of light to not shatter their false sense of hope — for the next six decades.)
I'm with you there DJ, I say screw the Herbstreit mentality of wanting Michigan to do well in every game except in THE Game. I had a friend who was a Buckeye convert, his family didn't understand football nor being a Buckeye very much, back in 2010 when we were beating *ichigan 37-7 he was watching his TV wanting more blood and his family said something about us being up by 30 and it being the 7th straight year we beat them isn't that 'enough'? He wisely said never. I told him it's never enough until in that state up north they fill the Big Out House with cement, banish all thoughts of wolverat football, and cry when they hear our names because they are so scared of playing us they would rather discontinue football and hide all evidence of their shameful existence.
The only good thing about The Game is winning it - Urban Meyer
I think TSUN fans have all but given up on Hoke. Their only remaining hope is with their new OC. If their offense (running game) does not improve considerably next season, thre's going to be a meltdown up north. I can't wait.
I think you'd be surprised; living in tsun, I can tell you that most all michigan fans are delusional when it comes to their "michigan man" ... Which is fine with me!
Just... Go Bucks.
I disagree. A win is a win and I'll take one over that University anytime. But ask yourself this, do you think their souls were crushed after last years game more than in the #1 vs #2 meeting in 2006? The answer is "No". Destroying a birth in the BCS NCG (and going) while they're forced to watch from home, is much more relished than beating a mediocre team (being generous) and fan base that overwhelming expects to lose The Game. That can only happen if they're good.
"Adequately achieving on 40% brawn, 40% Bourbon, and 20% good looks, is over achieving."
I appreciate your "the higher they are, the harder they fall" mindset, Blackbeard. I agree that the 2006 game probably hurt their fanbase more, although I bet last year hurt a fair amount too, only because they could taste victory on their lips only to have it slapped away with an interception in the end zone.
I also think that a win over a ranked U of M team in what's supposed to be the best game in all of college football is going to reflect better in the minds of the selection committee.
You know the narrative, well Aurburn and Bama were ranked and played a close game so they should both be in the playoff with an ACC team and Big 12 or PAC team. BIG is bad as usual and we have no financial interest in them. We need comp to step up and that includes U of M.
That's another interesting and very strong argument against the way Matta utilizes his roster depth.
1) Did anyone else try to do this Billion Dollar Bracket Challenge? What a crock of chit! You have to give them your address, personal info and phone number so they can text you marketing crap. I tried to give them my google voice number for junk just like this and they wont accept it. Guess I'm out.
2) It is nice to see scUM get the bracket of death. They got jobbed...and I like it.
I figured it was something like that. My thinking is that if you wouldn't give that kind of information out when playing the lottery -- and it's not like the state of Ohio doesn't already know where I live -- why would you give it to Dan Gilbert when your odds of winning are even worse? I'll stick to the pools where the only prize is bragging rights and a 6-pack.
I'm sorry, but I'm just not buying the "Jordan Sibert's revenge" storyline. Unlike literally every other transfer Matta has had (except maybe for Crater, who was sort of an idiot), he actually had a rotation spot, but lost it two seasons ago because he performed poorly -- and because we were a Final Four team and Matta wasn't really in a position to experiment. He was welcome to stay (I presume) but chose not to. So what exactly would he be trying to prove?
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
Damn, I knew there was going to be a hook like that... Any idea if you have to confirm the phone number you give them, or can we all just use my stepdad's cell?
I know Vandy dropping their game with us has been beat to death but the Rittenberg article would indicate that SDSU replaced the Commodores, not FAMU.
Now, I am getting on in years but I distinctly remember reading "Gene replaced Vandy with FAMU" and dropped the ball in getting a tougher opponent.
So, am I "mis"remembering?
SDSU was Vandy's replacement, not FAMU. The "Gene replaced Vandy with FAMU" storyline was a popular one, and one that made the Gene Smith apologists' jobs seemingly easier, but it simply wasn't true.
As a UD alum, sorry to say i'll be rooting for the Flyers in this one. It's hard to go against the bucks, but when you went to a basketball heavy school that only gets in the tourney every 4 years or so, you gotta root for the opportunity. Plus, there's always football season.
At least one of my teams will win!
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
I grew up in Columbus, went to a little DIII school in the Chicago area and got my MBA from NIU (Northern Illinois University for those outside of Chicagoland).
I'll be covered in scarlet and gray when NIU visits the 'Shoe next year.
Woulda , coulda, shoulda, what's the point....kids come and go for a plethora of reasons. Siebert didn't get the playing time HE thought he should have so he took his ball and went elsewhere. If I recall LQ Ross came to the Buckeyes as a transfer and that's worked out pretty good for the Bucks.
Also, the talk about Ross going pro is pretty funny to me, he is nowhere near ready for the NBA, so if he does, I hope he speaks French, Spanish, Greek...
The only hard day was yesterday
Q wasn't a transfer, unless you're referring to high school. He moved from Mississippi to New Jersey after his sophomore year in HS. He came to Ohio State straight from that NJ high school.
My bad; thanks man.
I'm sure soon-to-be first rounder Eric Ebron (and his departure) was a huge bright spot for UNC with Clark's verbal. In Urban we trust.
I know tOSU is only a 6 seed, but wow, I think we have one of the worst draws possible. Dayton isn't going to be easy, and then we have NM, Syracuse, and Kansas as possible matchups in our half of the region, with UF, UCLA, and VCU on the other side of the bracket. Nebraska at an 11 seed looks to have an easier path than us.
Pay it forward
DELPH YOU BEAUTY! Suck on that, Mourinho.
Also: a competent 2-3 zone is this OSU team's kryptonite. If they happen to get by Dayton, that second round game against the 'Cuse will probably be ugly.
Unfortunately, ugly is an understatement.
Thad can definitely coach against Syracuse's zone tho. Granted, when we beat 'cuse in 2012 we had ultimate zone killers in DT/Sully. I would almost be inclined to pick OSU if that matchup were to happen, however with only one day to prepare, I don't like our chances.
Old Digger Phelps said last night that if OSU and Cuse meet; with the way both teams are shooting the game could be in the 40's.
Indiana - "basketball state"
Your 11W Harbaugh Posting Guidelines
So OSU is the only team in TG6's top 3 that runs the up-tempo spread offense, relying on the QB to be the major playmaker. Not to mention, every single question in that interview in regards to schools of interest, schools going after him the hardest, etc. was followed with Ohio State. Hmmm.. interesting.
The Times article on researching autism was phenomenal, thank you for sharing.
I season my simple food with hunger
Clark knew he couldn't cut it in Columbus...simple, make it sound like NC is THE place to be, See ya in Chapel Hill in 2015!!
Pretty stoked were in Gibson's top 3. I think our only competition is Miami.
Truth & Courage, 1-17IN, 5/2 SBCT
I remember what happened last time Meyer was high up on a TE from Conn.......that's right, he won the Mackey.
I don't get why UNC is better at football; they occasionally get decent kids, but there's a lot of talent in that state too. I guess it just leaves town.
And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!
I live in Florida-Ohio University Grad.---grew up in Ohio----my t-shirts say-Ohio State Buckeyes--Go Bucks-100% Buckeye----
RE: Shooting video virtically
I've verbally lambasted my wife and mother in front of family and friends for doing this. It's a giant pet peeve.
PSU is really suffering in recruiting due to those sanctions. Only #5? They'll never recover!
I just saw on Twitter that Torrance Gibson retweeted a tweet that stated that Tennessee is his current leader. I also saw that he favorited another tweet from a Florida fan saying something along the lines of "Ohio State doesn't prepare QB's for the NFL". Take those tidbits of info for what they are worth.
