I still find it hard to believe that out of all of those players, the only LB worth playing is Shazier. There's gotta be *someone* in there that will ratchet it up a few notches. I still have my money on Perry.
Priority #1: Beat Michigan
Has Mike Mitchell even played yet? We redshirting him?
Really neat idea to re-frame the skywriting into something to make the world a better place. Props to Scott Westerman for taking the arrogance of ttun and turning into a great cause.
I thought Perry did well at SAM in the base 4-3. The problem is that they rarely use it, because they are in the nickel most of the time. The SAM position is becoming extinct.
When you lose, say little. When you win, say less.
Yes, Rest up Miller this week because Wisky is going to throw everything they have at us. This is the B1G opener for us, but for Wisconsin it is a chance to knock off the best team in the B1G conference.

Wisky is the only real team to beat in our division

Good mix of Skully info today.
Props to Scott Westerman, and now what say you Blue?
I didn't know Ted Danson pitched rugs before Cheers.
And howsabout Brax just sitting this one out? I don't think it's worth the risk.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
I hope Braxton plays at least a few drives, just to get back in the flow of things. Seems like the 1st game was a long time ago.
It's 2 days before game day, if he isn't able to move laterally like usual, I wouldn't risk it. Kenny G has proven he can carry the load. I say give him another week. "Wanna win, put Boobie in" and what happened to Boobie?
It think you let Braxton start and make him give it up on every zone read. Let him stay and pass from the pocket just to get a feel for game speed again. Then pull him after half when we're in blowout mode and let Kenny G pad those Heisman stats.
I think this is the most likely option as well - get Braxton some reps to knock the cobwebs off, but keep him in a fairly constrained playbook.
Kellogg is one of the best in my opinion. Always fair and well prepared for each game. This leaves me shaking my head.
"Those two, they're ruining this war, for all of us!" MAJ Houlihan, when she was whining about Hawkeye and Trapper because they were simply having fun.
I agree. I like Clark Kellogg on the mic. I use Squeeze the Orange in every pick up game I play.
I've been a Clark fan, too. I think Anthony has been solid in the studio, though I haven't seen many games he's called - I also think Nantz does a respectable job on the call, so I'm not eager to see him getting shuffled away.
Terrible news about Tom Tiberi's daughter Maria. So sad.

Do you think Meyer's shot at linebacking recruting is aimed at Fickell? He is the linebacker coach and has been for some time. Meyer seems to praise Vrabel and Coombs and other coaches, but I never hear him say anything positive about Luke. I might be off base here, but it seems like Fickell maybe on the dog house.
“Ain’t life grand when you finally hit it!” DLR
Yes and LB coaching. But mainly I think he's trying to warn the players that if they continue to not live up to standards they will be recruited over.
What was missed in the skully was Meyer was speaking about past recruiting in that area, so before he arrived. Which would be a shot at both Fickel and Tressel if you go back far enough.
"I spent 90 percent of my money on women and drink. The rest I wasted." - George Best
He has 2 classes under his belt already, so you can't blame the previous staff. Also, like every team, there are circumstances that you cannot control concerning recruits: Transfers (had a big one happen), injuries, and sometimes they just don't pan out as they were projected which kills depth.
I think this may also be a play on recruiting. ie a "hey, come and play here" message to recruits.

HA! Pumped to see the Panic wook in this morning's skully! He has become quite the legend and meme generator. Not quite they hype as Wook #17 but this guys fame will grow!
Was the pic of that brain-eating amoeba Photoshopped or is that really how these things look like? Damned thing looks like it's evil laughing :(
"I find your lack of kalua disturbing" - Darth Lebowski
I was wondering the same question - it can't really look like that, right???
It looks a bit manipulated. Another image
The surface protrusions are much rounder in this image. Unless the other image was taken on a roughened substrate.
I honestly have no clue. I just took it from reddit though if it was on the internet, I have to assume it's legit.
I'm with you, Chris: it's on the internet, so it has to be true. Great Skully this morning.
Thank you, sir. I was running on fumes. A couple 13 hour days this week then a trip to NYC yesterday for the real job so I wasn't exactly pumped to write a skully when I got home but the people must be served!
Chris, I’m sure none of us in the Eleven Warrior community know what sacrifices you guys make to bring us the absolute, hands down, best coverage and not just coverage but entertaining commentary too! Many times I’m reading and can’t believe what great articles you guys bring to us every day. I know you hear this a lot, but thank you so much for what you do!
Thanks, CVB. Yes, it's a sacrifice but I am absolutely not complaining because it's also incredibly rewarding to step back and see how this thing has grown. It's certainly taken on a life of its own since the days of me, Jason and Corey writing stuff for our friends/family back in '06-'07.
And frankly, the community itself is just as responsible for the site's awesomeness as the staff is.
Okay, I've done some research on the brain-eating amoeba question, and the photo Chris shared is legit. Channeling my inner Snopes, I went to Google and found the source of the photo as National Geographic, with the caption "The feeding structures of the amoeba Naegleria fowleri have a face-like appearance."
If you weren't grossed out enough by the picture, how 'bout the fact that this "typically fatal parasite enters through the nose and consumes brain tissue."
That microscopic amoeba—part of the class of life called protozoans—is a naturally occurring organism that normally feeds on bacteria and tends to live in the sedimentary layer of warm lakes and ponds.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), victims die from the amoeba after about 5 days. Since 1962 there has only been one survivor, yet the 12-year-old girl who was hospitalized last month has improved enough to be moved out of the intensive care unit at Arkansas Children's Hospital, hospital spokesman Tom Bonner told CNN.
Answer: NOT PHOTOSHOPPED.
...aaannnddd...I will never go in the (fresh)water again. This is worse than Jaws.
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. ~ Bruce Lee
Stu, maybe this is a bad time to bring this up, but do you remember the big fuss a few years back over the fish in the Amazon that swim into your urethra if you pee while swimming?
Oh yea. In fact, I do recall hearing about that but I didn't see that article/video. This picture says it all:
Damn nature, you scary.
Speaking of which, did you read the 17 Bizarre Facts link? Why on earth would someone want to do that with a toothbrush???
I wondered the same thing... And even if you could do that, would you actually tell anyone???
Gives you pause about the Mirror Lake tradition.
The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win. -- Woody Hayes
I'm not positive about this, but I think even the amoeba's (amoebae? amoebi?) take a pass at residing there.
I'm a french supermodel
No offense, but your representation clearly has no mouth or eyes. How is it going to eat without a mouth? I'm going with Chris on this one.
I thought that the photo was a gag (and placed in the Skully for that effect). Doesn't look like an amoeba to me...but then again, I guess I've never seen an amoeba imaged by an electron microscope (which that photo is).
While there have been some notable "misses" at LB in recruiting in recent years, I was under the impression that with Grant, Perry and a few others, we had an impressive group, over-all.
I don't claim to follow recruiting nearly as much as many of you, but I suggest the problem is not with recruiting per se, but with development of these kids when they get to Ohio State.
With the exception of Shazier, who still has a tendency to over-run plays, OSU has not had good LB play since B Rolle and Ross Homan left....and some will argue, not since JL left.
Sooner or later, Meyer will have to decide if it's the recruiting...or the coaching. In either case, it may not be a pretty scene for Fickell and the coaches. Simply put, I just don't see LBs on this team in recent years that can take over a game.
I don't know what's happened to our line-backing corps...I know some folks want to directly blame Fickell for that and I understand that, but at the same time he's been our LBs coach for quite a while and we've had some really good ones come through with his teaching. What's going on at that position these days?
Has everyone seen the "sweet revenge" link?? Wow, that guy hatched out an evil plan that's actually pretty awesome!
Get busy living.
It is pretty amazing that he could get the whole thing finished with her none the wiser. No breaks to check it out in a mirror?
It's actually kind of a dick move. I almost hope she wins the lawsuit.
ETA: I'm not saying that it's okay to cheat. I have been cheated on, and it sucks. But shit happens and sometimes you just have to move on with your life.
Shit happened on her back
The PeeWee scandals cracked me up. How many of them could/do apply to SEC teams? Let's see...
Yep, could be talking about 10-year-olds, or your average player at 'Bama, South Carolina or LSU....
That just happened on 11W!!
Haha! I won't say the suck but they don't really do much for me. I've just seen them once live and I did have a good time but for me but it's like going to a minor league game instead of going to see the big boys play. Can't believe I'm not catching any fall tour Phish but I am still planning on hitting the New Years Run.

THE Ohio State University
We need Raekwon McMillan in the worst way
I still feel like Urbz is just using recruit speak 'our LBs suuuuck' to get McMillan into the fold....
Every time I see a picture of the WTC as it once was; my heart breaks as it did seeing the pics on this Skully; then it broke again for the Tiberi family.
The only hard day was yesterday
Kellogg always seemed to try to imitate Dick Vitale with crazy phrases. Vitale was legitimate but not Kellogg. I agree with the change. I still don't get how Curtis Grant can't improve at LB. Fickell needs to be replaced as LB coach.
We could start an 11W drinking game based solely on the number of times someone mentions some variation of "Fire Fickell."
Scott Westerman ... brilliant. On another note, wonder what purpose it serves Meyer to complain about the D line recruiting, isn't that "water under the bridge" at this point?
Credit to Scott Westerman for handling a puerile act with the utmost class. He just gained a whole lot of my respect.
...and Michigan *still* sucks.
