I love that Kenny G made the captains list, I never get tired of his smooth jazz.
Born a Buckeye, raised a Buckeye, will die a Buckeye.
Agree, Kenny is a good role model for others on the team.
8 wow! Congrats to all of them though, they deserve it. Go Bucks!
They all do deserve it. BUT I wish they would just state that there are 8 captains this year. Or just name 3 or 4 now. Not sure about the whole paring down the list as the year goes on (or after!?). Am I alone in finding the paring down at the end odd?
Regardless, all of these guys are and/or would be a solid choice...for whomever makes the cut at the end?
It seems a little odd to me too. He is probably, partially at least, using this as a motivator to have them all step up their leadership. Everything is a competition under Meyer. And this is a way to not only let the team have all the guys they voted on, but also to potentially motivate 8 guys to become Super-Leaders.
In the end I don't care THAT much, though. I just want to play some football.
EDIT: Ok, "watch" some football...
Happy to see Kenny G get some love!
A little shocked to see so many, 8. But I believe all are deserving. And personally I think it's nice to see Guiton as a captain.

All 8 captains says to me is we have a lot of leaders on this team!
We were born to love Ohio State and hate that team up north.
All week I was secretly hoping Kenny G would get a spot, but didn't want to say anything to jynx it! haha
Looking forward to seeing the "C" on the jerseys...
Pumped for Kenny G. Shazier will be gone after this year. Hoping Brax sticks around to be a 2x captain.
That's very cool! It will be fun to see the leadership blossom as each will I'm sure strive for the honor of "Season's Captains".
Edit: Will not be surprised if Urbz pulls a name not from this list of eight at the end of the year to be a "Season's Captain".
Urban definitely does not come off as a pull names out of a hat type of guy to me. Everything he does seems measured and tactical...never willy nilly.
"Anything less than flagrant is just playing grab ass!"
He didn't say "out of a hat". I read it that way the first time, too. I think guys like Hyde, Roby, and Hall all have potential to come from outside this list and get some buzz at the end of the year related to their leadership.
May want to read it again.
You guys are correct. My bad.
This is why you have to love Urban as your head coach. Not only do you recognize 8 captians, which will make this teams leadership that much better...but Urban is also using this as a motivation tactic to make each one great leaders by naming 4 official ones at the end of the season. So if you want to be a captain on a potential NC team, you have to provide the best leadership you can and lead your teammates. It could be a tough cut for Urban to only name 4.
My first post, I feel very blessed to be apart of the 11W community! I love that Kenny G got some love! I think Shazier is going to be an amazing leader as well. So stoked for this season to start!
The wise shall inherit glory, but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
GO CHUCK GO
Sidenote: That's going to be one intimidating group of grown ass men at midfield to start the game. I like it. Plus, when you're labeled a "captain," it means there's a different standard for you as a player and leader. Let's do this, Buckeyes.
Eight captains were voted on by the team for the season. However, I want to know the smartass who voted for Cap'n Crunch.

All jokes aside, I'm loving this leadership role Corey Linsley has stepped into. Hope he and the others are contagious in their efforts to lead and take the team far.
Look closely, because the closer you think you are, the less you will actually see.

Any word on the second-team captaincy?
Impressed that Kenny G is a captain.
What I think would be cool is if Kenny were given the start against Michigan.
That would be a fitting tribute to honor a man who will be completing five years in the shadows, yet could have started in most, if not all but a few systems in college football.

My thoughts exactly... how do you get nominated as a captain in your 4th year but not in your 5th year?
"It takes a little something special to be a great player. What you got in you, we're going to find out. And if there's a touch of greatness in there, how cool would that be?"

It's a little disturbing, don't you think? Or maybe I'm just reading into it.
I think so yes - especially considering he is actually lined up to start the season as our #1 RB. If you remember from last season he had the crazy foot injury.
Good choices for captains. The only name I'm surprised not to see is Jordan Hall. Where are all of the general studies majors?
I noticed that too. I thought tsun claimed all the smart guys go to school up there. That list of majors is impressive, not a slacker in the group. Exactly the kind of smart guys and leaders you'd expect to find as captains for the Buckeyes.
I'm loving the strong majors.
Buckeye football season is among us gentlemen and lady Buckeyes!

Happy for all the guys named captain, feel they were all well deserved! Especially like Guiton, he most definitely earned it and is a true leader. Weird about Hall, but I'm not disappointed with the team vote one bit.
Linsley was average at best going into last season, now he's a captain. Speaks to his character to maximize his ability and for the coaches to motivate him to do so.
Kenny G getting to be a captain is everything that is right in this world.
Congrats guys! Gotta love how many guys are looked on as leaders on this team.
EIGHT guys voted as captains ... BUT ... the number will be pared down by the end of the season??? Whaaaa??? Will the "pared down" players be decommissioned? Sorry, I don't get it. Oh well, football is a team sport so no point in majoring in minors I guess. If the team is happy and all the fans are happy whatever I guess LOL.
8 captains is a lot. It reminds of a football movie where they sent the whole team to the coin toss to psych out the other team.
And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!
Seen any more of the "old gang" on here Hit?
I've seen a few of them, I haven't really seen many unless they changed their name.I think most split up between Fox, CBS and Off Tackle Empire.
I'm too busy with school and work to keep track.
Lead us to battle young gents
Everything is a competition...who's going to be named the final set of captains. Competition among leaders. I'm down with it. Go Bucks!!
Made me very happy to see Kenny Guiton getting the appreciation that he so much deserves!
"Woody is a God-fearing man. It's good to know that he's afraid of somebody." --Archie Griffin
Kenny G a captain. How many teams have a backup as captain? Effin fantastic. Way to go Kenny Guiton! I have no doubt we could run the table in the B1G with smooth Kenny G. "Off the record." Dude will never have to put his hand in his pocket in a Cbus restaurant the rest of his life.
It's just nasty that Shazier is a psychology major. As if he isn't in someone's head enough when he knocks it off.
And no wonder Urban loves him!
8 captains on the quest for our 8th National Championship has a nice symmetry to it! Probably the only way the list of captains is not paired down at seasons end. Congrats to all!
"You win with people "
I was thinking the same thing.
holy Moses...8. Well-deserved by Kenny G. Happy for the guy.
Congratulations to all the Buckeyes named as leaders! And here is to hoping UFM has to change his mind and name 15 team captains at the end of the season. Go Bucks!! 3 Days!!
“Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.”
Ah finally, captains are named, the season is ready to start. Glad for every one of these young men, especially smooth Kenny G. Many former Buckeyes players say that being a captain is the highlight of their careers. Even Tom Brady says it is one of his greatest accomplishments (even if it is for TTUN).
I guess I am the only one who has a problem with 8 captains. Really? Anyone out there with team experience who has seem this many captains? This looks along the same line as the 2011 team that rotated captains. What is wrong with one offense captain and one defense captain? When does it stop being an integral leadership position and nothing more than just a reward for longevity or hard work?
I know, let's make everyone a captain and at the end of the year give everyone ribbons for participation. WIN.
