Thanks for the update, Miles. Any word on Samuel?

Not too much has changed recently. There's still a good chance he'll commit before the season- to OSU or Rutgers... I think the Bucks have a pretty big lead.

Andrews was a guy that I always held out some small hope for.  I know it was a long shot from the beginning but I think this guy is going to turn into a big time player.  I think it will be at the tight end position though.

HS

I agree I think with his size, tight end is a better fit

HS
razrback16's picture

Yep I agree -- and we'll actually be playing against him in '16 & '17 with a home and home against Oklahoma. Should be fun to watch.

Outside of Samuel, do we have any major prospects to look forward to before the all american games? Also, Im feeling less and less sure that McMillan comes here. OSU leads then he has no leaders, and so on and so on, I think we would have to have a sizeable advantage with him after his visit or theres a good chance we lose him to Bama.

Samuel is really the only one I could see committing soon. I still like OSU getting Raekwon. He's just playing things close to the vest.

HS

I thought Thomas Holley would announce soon?

HS

Holley said after his Cuse visit that there was strong possibility of his commitment coming before the season, so you're right.

HS

He's been saying he has no leaders for months.
Translation: we're leading.

That Bama game on November 9th is against LSU.  Would love to see nothing more than a blowout by the Tigers.

Champions.  Undisputed.

I like where your head is, but I don't see Bama getting blown out by anyone.

Also, there have been times where McMillan has said OSU was his leader.  Not sure why he is saying he has no leaders now.  Still think he will be a Buckeye tho!

I was enjoying watching Raekwon blow up running backs, then I saw him lined up as RB and, as a former DB, I got legitimately scared. Me looks like an all-around mean dude.

Birm, are there any recruits that nobody is talking about that you could see ending up in 2014 class?

HS

I think at this point the names are pretty well known. There's always a player or two out there that could get a look down the line if things don't shake out the way Ohio State wants (LB Petra Wilson, OL Brian Wallace to name a couple). One player who Ohio State would love to land is Tyler Luatua, the talented TE from California who is supposed to make an official visit in September.

HS
jaxbuckeye's picture

Birm, what do you think the chances are of getting Luatua?

HS

Awesome, awesome job by everyone on the site btw, you in particular.  Just got my 80 yr old father to start visiting the site. He loves having a source now for Buckeye news!

We will probably see a few new names pop up when December hits... Like James Clark last year.

Thoughts on the Buckeyes chances for JuJu Smith or where he probably will go? I just saw he is still taking an official visit but hard to see him fitting in.

Bet you can't say "Bert Bielma is a bumbling buffoon" five times fast.

I'm by no means an insider or expert, but based on the reports I've heard lately, it just sounds like McMillan is kind of tired of it all in terms of the recruiting onslaught. You have to remember that he's been on the national radar for a couple of years now and had a full summer of camps. School, and a normal schedule, will probably be good for him and his whole outlook. Of course I hope he chooses us, but best of luck to him however it plays out.

I completely agree.  In addition, the locals constantly in his ear trying to push him towards UGA have to be weighing on him.
I personally think the Dawgs are OSU's biggest competition for this kid and while OSU, Clemson, and Bama have all been speculated as 'leaders' at some point, him ending up at UGA wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Miles great article with outstanding information.  I always look forward to this updated.
Thanks!

Birm, any word on Dixon?  The last thing we heard about him was a few weeks ago when he put Ohio State in his top 3 and then nothing after.

Great piece Miles!!! My personal take is that we may have yet another Curtis Grant on our hands in McMillian. I don't know. I keep looking at his film and he looks to be a DE in my eyes. I'm just sayin ((Kanye Shurg)). Still crossing my fingers for Samuel that would be a great grab. Him paired with D1 and J.Marshall, with Eze,Bri and possibly Ball!!! They will have defenses at there mercy for years to come. #GOBUCKS

Every time I refresh the page, I get a mini heart attack because I think Raekwon McMillan committed.

HS

Interesting.  I never was a guy to get much into the details of recruiting, so this will probably seem like a dumb question to all of you who are plugged into this aspect of the sport ... but when reading about all of the trips that Raekwon McMillan is making it makes me wonder, do the kid's families have to foot the bill for all of these visits?  If so that seems like it would be a hardship on the families with less disposable income, put them at a distinct disadvantage.  Also, is there a limit to how many schools a kid can visit?

@ Scarletngrey01:
Has to be the most oft-asked question on the site or the one people want to ask, but are afraid to. Here's a link that pretty much breaks down the visits, of which they are allowed to take five (5) officials. I'm sure others here could chime in with good info as well.

I'm confident Raekwon will be a Buckeye.  What is "not a committable offer"?  Was it an offer or not. Maybe a contingent.......an offer if player x doesn't commit, or if your grades improve?  That's a crock if so.

HS
hit_the_couch's picture

He's been here 17 times already. So what exactly is an 'official visit?'

And then I told her...i'm no weatherman, but tonight's forecast is calling for several inches!

HS

Raekwon looks better every time I watch his tape.  Does not overpursue, closes on the ball carrier very well, and reads the pass very well.  And oh yeah, hits like a freight train. I predict another Vonn Bell street fight with the Bucks coming out on top again.
Any recent news on Damien Prince?

I wonder what happened to Noah Brown. I thought for sure he was going to commit.

Is it weird that I want to go see Raekwon play in person?  I live about 20 minutes from Hinesville.  I may have to go see a game or two.  Who wants to come with me???
