Cliche to use The Chase again I think, but that's exactly what this feels like already heading into 2020.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
My vote for the 2020 mantra is: LEAVE NO DOUBT
Because I couldn't go for 3
Its Ohio against the world.
I was thinking along those lines too. Something like CONTROL THE OUTCOME. It's a bit bulky, I like your better, but the jist is to NOT put the game in someone else's hands.
Gotta love it.

This loss hurt us as fans but I cannot imagine the fire it has already created for this team to push it to another level this offseason. I think its similar to when Clemson lost to Bama in 2015 and they came back pissed the next year. Buckle up 2020 because we are out for blood next year and I pray we get to see Trevor Lawrence again!!!
Side note, we have a damn good basketball team to cheer for that is going to be fun come March!
Time and change will surely show...
I have full confidence in Coach Day to make the necessary moves to get us back to where we want to be again next year. Just think that last year on this day there was very small minority of people on this board even knew who Jeff Hafley was and Justin Fields was not even officially a Buckeye. The future is bright for Ohio State! Go Bucks
2013: First year with a bowl game for Urban ..ends in a devastating loss to Clemson
2014: National Championship
2019: First year for Ryan Day..ends in a devastating loss to Clemson
2020: ? ;)

I like the way you think
"The minute I think I'm getting mellow, I'm retiring. Whoever heard of a mellow winner."
I think you're on to something there, TG.
Ok. NOW I'm over it and ready to move on to next season. (I refuse to watch the NC game.)
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
I think the loss really hurts, but taking a step back, I think winning it all this year, and having that success would have made things hard in some ways for Day. I think this will make him a better coach and smarter and more driven if that is possible. I just really think a lot of greats have a very small roadblock before taking the next step. It's all about getting Justin to that next level and keeping him healthy next season, as well as getting the next QB ready.
Prediction - 2020 undisputed national champions. 15-0
I’m verry happy he is the head football coach at The Ohio State University.
After thinking on it for two days, I really think Buckeyes fans are going to see a next level of focus and fury from Ryan Day in the next few years. It feels like the proverbial kraken has been unleashed.

Let's hope he's more Urban Meyer and less Earle Bruce.
Only way that happens is if his recruiting falls apart and Day is killing it on the trail.
"I find your lack of kalua disturbing" - Darth Lebowski
Let's hope he is more Ryan Day than either Earle or Urban.
It should be Ryan Day and Dabo fighting it out the next several years on the recruiting front and in the biggest game of the year. I think Ryan Day is the guy that will figure out all the pieces that need to be put in place to overtake ANY program in the country to be the most elite.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
My biggest concern is the DBs, thin depth low on experience and a new coach incoming its not looking like a great situation back there. And looking at 247 it doesnt seem like its gonna be fixed this recruiting cycle either.
Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it-John 1:5 SEC meet Ohio State, Ohio State meet SEC
Same. The extent of the dropoff when any of our DBs were out was obvious. We lose Hafley and all of the DBs. It didn't make sense at first why he'd take the BC job, but maybe he knew the group we've got coming in wouldn't yield better job prospects for him so he jumped while he could. No Chase to force quicker throws either could lead to a large step down on D.
I was frightened when Riep replaced Wade.
I wanted Wade to stay so badly but I can’t imagine him returning to school with a public announcement in his hometown scheduled for Saturday.
Our DBs are our weakest link next year, along with our RBs.
The DB situation next year is horrifying. Not a single guy coming back has shown anywhere near the quality we had this season. If the returning DBs don’t take a massive leap forward during the off-season we’re going to get shredded by the passing game. Even if they do, our depth is terrible. Downvote me all you want but it’s the truth.
"I may not be able to outsmart too many people, but I can outwork 'em." ~Woody Hayes
Yes, but don’t forget in the wings are a bunch of 4 star guys. Players make leaps from season to season, so you can expect improvement for those guys that got playing time this year. Depth will for sure be an issue.
You are entitled to you own opinion, not your own facts.
Horrifying???? My God, man are you ok?
Every year we send DB's to the League and are "horrified" about the backups who see limited action. Then next year arrives and lo and behold, those horrifying corners of last year become the first round draft picks of the next year. I've watched this for at least the last 5, maybe more years now. It may take a few games to get the loose ends sorted with a new Dback coach, but the talent is always in the pipeline. Let's not panic just yet. Put your head between your knees and breathe into the paper bag and you'll feel much better soon enough.
Generally agree. The new DB's may have issues at Oregon which is second game. No idea who is playing QB for the Ducks next year, but based on history they will probably be good.
They might be good but there is no denying that we have very little depth at the position. Two injuries in the backfield and we may have to start playing some guys out of position.
The DB situation next year is horrifying.
It would be nice to lure Coach Coombs or someone of his caliber back to Cbus. That would relieve a lot of sleepless nights. Hopefully we can convince Muskegon Martinez into sticking with his original commitment.
Same as the O line last season. Relax. Day will come through.
Still waiting for the way too early 2020 depth chart along with thoughts on strengths/weaknesses looking ahead. Perhaps 2nd half of January; after NFL declarations?
You've got that, then Signing Day in February, and then after that is I think when some have said you'll see the transfer portal come into play.
True but if signing day affects your 2-deep then you could be in trouble.
This is what I have so far. I think quite a few freshman will play and even be on the 2-deep. One of Flemming/Smith-Njigba/Scott will have a similar impact to Wilson this year. OL is in good shape but Johnson should see time. On defense it will depend on how the DBs work out. Feels like they could try Cavasos or even Ransom at Wade's position and see if they could cover well enough.
QB: Fields // Miller OR Stroud
RB: Teague // Crowley // Chambers // McCall
TE: Ruckert OR Farrell
LT: Munford // Paris Johnson
LG: Miller // Enokk Vimahi
C: Myers // Wypler
RG: Davis // Matthew Jones
RT: NPF // Jacoby OR Jones
WR X: Wilson // Jaylen Harris OR Flemming OR Scott
WR Z: Olave // Williams // Smith-Njigba
H: Gill // Saunders // Cooper
DE: Jonathan Cooper // Tyler Friday // Javontae Jean-Baptiste
NT: Tommy Togiai // ??? (Cage)
DT: Haskell Garrett // Taron Vincent
DE: Tyreke Smith OR Zach Harrison
LB: Werner // Hilliard
LB: Browning OR Borland
LB: Pope OR Mitchell
CB: Cameron Brown // Tyreke Johnson
CB: Sevyn Banks // Ryan Watts
CB: Amir Riep // Marcus Williamson
FS: Proctor // Hooker OR Wint OR Ransom
Looks pretty darn good! We’re still going to have a talented bunch of players and great coaching/support staff. Team will be just fine.
RB will be OR
Myers and Miller play their natural positions of guard and center, respectively.
Harrison will be the lone starter at DE. That length is such an advantage.
We know Ryan Day is elite. Now he’s elite and angry. Let the games begin.
F*ck Clemson, and double f*ck Ken Williamson & his other $EC officiating wiz kids.
Coach Day is just another blessing for Buckeye Nation. Beat everyone in 2020.
Happy New Year Eleven Warriors!
Thank the Maker that I was born in Ohio, cradle of coaches, US Presidents, confederate-stomping Generals, the Uncomparable Joe Burrow, and home of The Ohio State University Buckeyes- 2014 UNDISPUTED National Champions!
If game day is at Eugene next year, and I’m able to get tickets and go, I’m making a big sign that says “thank you SEC refs for pissing us off”
If I must choose between peace and righteousness, I choose righteousness! -Theodore Roosevelt.
"My other sign was ruled incomplete by SEC referees"
Might be the Fox crew. Suggest you still go!!!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
I'm going to that game, and can guarantee you I'll still be pissed.
I'm just very happy to read an article with some positive vibes. We're finally getting far enough removed from that Sat. fiasco that we can start to have good thoughts again.....finally.
If you have two people that agree on everything, that only means one of them is not thinking at all.
Who are the replay booth refs? Do we get to know their names?
I could also make a sign showing ACC and SEC officials heads inside a replay booth, but I don’t know if people would get it...
Just know they were from the SEC.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Any chance Urban is consulted for potential assistant replacements ?
I hope not. This is Day's ship.
Since he’s still employed in the athletic department, I believe he will contribute.
Hell No! This is Ryan;s staff not Urban's staff. Ryan will get the best possible assistants that fits HIS program. Trust him---he has at least earned that! GO BUCKS!
Come on home, Coach Coombs.
Not sure who for QB coach. Guiton probably is a few years away yet, not even working with QBs at the moment.
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
With respect to the future QB C, he’ll be learning from Day also. That’s not to say he won’t have anything to offer but Day has a chokehold on that and the qb recruits are coming for his tutelage. Hafley’s replacement....man. Idk. Hafley did an awesome job but we also have to consider the young men already here w experience; Okudah, Arnette, Fuller...whoever comes in [or back, if the case] is getting a green group to say the least.
A lion sleeps in every man, dissatisfaction moves him, complacency keeps him asleep.
I actually have more confidence going into next year than I did coming into this year. Sure losing Dobbins / Chase / the entire secondary will hurt, but that's still less stressful than breaking in a new QB. We knew Fields was supposed to be good but there's always a chance the new guy sucks and then your whole season is toast.
I have all the confidence that Coach Day will keep this great program great.
I think that anyone scheduled to play Ohio State in 2020 has to be very, very concerned with the angry, focused determination that they will be facing when they line up across from the Buckeyes.
Especially going to enjoy ttun having to come into The Shoe and faced a very pissed off and focused Buckeye team. The last two years may look to them like close games when this one is over.
Need to kidnap Lawrence and shave his head. All that so-called "generational talent" will disappear.
And you thought he was ugly with the hair.......

Sampson Lawrence??? Nah, but a very good QB with a great future.
The future is bright! Go buckeyes!!
Live from Nowhere in Particular....
I was hoping Wade should stay, but he's gone since he is announcing his decision on Saturday. Replacing our whole secondary won't be easy. Going against our great receivers in practice will hopefully accelerate their development. As long as Fields stays healthy, the offense will carry the D next year. In Day we trust. Go Bucks !
Rose Bowl or Bust
Wade could be a top 10 pick in 2021. Good as he played, he never had to take on the “top dog” role, and that leaves some question marks for NFL organizations
I just got my Ohio Against The World hoodie and it has never been more appropriate. Pardon my language but lets fuck some shit up!
It shouldnt be this but it needs to be something like the hunger. These boys are hungry and are going to stop at nothing
I've said this numerous times. Ryan Day is the 2nd coming of Woody Hayes.
OURS IS THE FURY
We are taking the ship by force next season. Nothing will stand in our way let's gooo
They had Werner bulk up to play LB..maybe he can do a small body transformation and play FS. Having a hard hitter with experience leading a young backfield would be nice. There are other LB's that can play his position
The most important thing is for Day to replace what we're lost on the coaching staff first and foremost. Our 2020 class is once again top 3 and now we have to make sure that we also reload on coaches as well as players. He did a good job this season and do not have any doubts that he'll get top guy who hopefully will want to be here more than 1 year.
I bleed scarlet...literally
Have to remember the two pieces he did not inherit that made all the difference this year was a defensive coaching staff (well, technically he did but then said "no thanks" with the exception of LJ) and his star qb that he went out and got.
We had a QB who was playing on one leg
We had a RB that was playing 2/3 of the game on one leg
We lost the glue of our defense on a questionable targeting call for 2/3 of the game
Every reviewed call went against us
Many egregious fouls/penalties against us went uncalled/ignored by the officials
All that against us and we still had an opportunity to win the game in the last minute. If Clemson had the same scenario play out for them in the Fiesta Bowl instead of Ohio State...we would have won by 4 scores, at least.
I am very impressed with Coach Day. He's made changes that are subtle yet fits OSU's talent, wanting to play fast and aggressive on both sides of the ball. Players and recruits respond well to him, and I absolutely love how decisive he's been with the coaching staff too. The changes made last year when he took over and making what appears to be a cultural change with the QB coach show a man with a vision/plan who is committed to excellence.
We are indeed blessed to have Coach Day at the helm. Go Bucks!
Not th8nk o make anyone mad but i read a comment here about making Werner a DB...you gotta be shitting me he's way to slow to do that ....
Thinknthey said safety? Wasnt he recruited as that?
Lived thru the 90s....even now it hurts, but it's getting better
Buckeye players such as Wilson have come forward and said how much focus and anger they will play next year. That is the attitude all the players should have. But for God's sake, let's not make this a "revenge tour" like you know who did this year. How did that work out for Michigan? GO BUCKS!
I don't need revenge I need retrieval...that is taking back what was stolen. Just gives us back what you (ncaa) have taken from us.
Trust me, Chambers will take over with 0 drop productivity. By the way, I just went on a 12 game win streak to take home a cool 1,500.00 in fantasy. Yeah Ya! Got a knack for spotting talent. Sorry, couldn’t help gloat...#chambersthechosenone
" It's real good whatcha done Anthony, real good ! "
Congratulations on your win! That's a great way to end a year/decade! As for your comments on Chambers, I think you are on to something there. Chambers seems to be the one RB few speak of yet has plenty of potential. I could easily see one of the freshman RS backs from this year playing large roles next year. It certainly helps with so much of the offensive machinery returning. Go Bucks!
Ty. No luck involved. Lol. Really excited for Chambers and Crowley to showcase next season. Really want to see some lateral improvement with Teague to make some guys miss in 2020.
2020 the year the Buckeyes follow the Daenerys way to end every game. Go Cobra Kai on all haters of Buckeye Nation. Would love a rematch with Spicoli and Whiner Sweeney !
Depending on Wade's decision, we're probably gonna have to go the transfer portal route to keep from taking a major step back at corner.
Honestly, I can't see another area that concerns me that much looking ahead to 2020. Depth might actually be just as good as this year's at several other positions groups
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
That picture of Coach Day gives the appearance of a laser focus and pissed off Coach. I look forward to seeing new coaches this year, hopefully replacement of Hafley and Yurcich are grand slams.
Next years schedule showcases Oregon at Oregon and Iowa so going undefeated may be a little harder. Still, this year will be Ohio Against The World.
No RB, no secondary...let’s stop obsessing about beating southern teams and play for The Rose Bowl!
(I think OSU is the only northern team to win the national championship this century, and it’s only a matter of time before we can’t compete. If you think this sounds defeatist, consider the best OSU team of my lifetime just lost to Clemson’s third best team in five years. Seriously, think about that.)
How about: we're grown men who don't need a catchy cliche saying to go to work.
Gonna get plenty in '20
We are amazing but you're fat cows grazing
This is not needed. Football is not requiring silly catch phrases. DV away, I don't care. Urban did retire didn't he ? Sometimes it seems like he's still here.
I'm all in on the positive outlook, but I haven't yet moved on from Saturday. Colin got it right when he wrote "Pain, anger and incredulity". Depressed? No. Deeply disappointed? You bet. We made mistakes, yes, and ALSO we were robbed. I feel so badly for our Seniors and those leaving for the NFL. This was their moment.
Life goes on. Happy New Year.
"Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else." - Judy Garland
We had a wonderful year!!! But I did see sometimes are wrs wasn't getting open as fast may just be my eyes but looks like we need more speed this upcoming year at the wr position. Like a Samuel's, Campbell type my thought is possibly Jameson just let me know what you all think... Happy 2020
"Nobody despises to lose more than I do"
Respectfully disagree, my friend. ;) I think OSU's WR corps is going to be one of the strengths of next year's team and one I worry about the least. If you want to worry, worry about the secondary, as others have said. I hope Day gets the Hafley replacement in soon.
"Yes, he inherited arguably the most talented roster in college football, and yes, it already had tremendously steady infrastructure before taking over. "
Still couldn't get it done though. Swinney and those ***** from Clemson are laughing at OSU as a team of jokes as they, SEC refs, and ESPN got the game they wanted vs. LSU under HIGHLY suspicious circumstances. Day's couple of bonehead calls in key situations didn't help either. The battle cry of wait until next year is BS. This team was robbed and almost the entire nation knows it. Gene Smith should sue the NCAA and the SEC and mandate that Ohio State will NEVER again play in a game where the refs are SEC. Someone needs to step up for these kids OFF the football field. Enough is enough. Do something......
