I Think the Committee Solidified Us As #1 Next Week

I hope so. But honestly if LSU beats Georgia convincingly I have a really hard time seeing them keeping LSU at #2.

You're right in that how they both (OSU and LSU) win matters, I think. And overall I felt that way too about LSU moving up, but I think the committee bumping Wisconsin up to #8 makes it easier for them to keep OSU #1. Beating #4 without 3 of their offensive weapons is not remarkably more impressive than beating a solid #8 twice. I also just think this is a year where no matter what the media wants to think, the committee just flat out like OSU better than LSU, and there's a lot of reasons for why that makes sense.

I don't see why they would jump us, personally I don't care. I want to play Clemson, I wanna play LSU, Georgia, Auburn, and Bama.

We would beat them all, the closest being Clemson where we still win by 10+

A part of me agrees with you. Let’s take on all the competition and prove it on the field. It would be fun to beat Clemson especially after Dumbo’s whining. But I’m also ok with taking on the 4th seed as an easier first round match up.

Nah. I’d rather just take the path of least resistance that gives us the best shot at a championship, not gamble it all just to try and settle a score with Clemson

HS

Yep.

If LSU beats UGA, it's likely #1.  If LSU wins convincingly, it's a lock at #1.

IMO, OSU will need to absolutely smoke Wisconsin, and even then I could see us dropping to 2.

This week and last week means absolutely zilch.

Huh??

The team the committee said has looked the most complete ends with back-to-back-to-back wins over top 15 teams and they drop bc the committee’s second best team added another top 10 win. I dint think so.

HS
cecsix's picture

Not sure why people think that. Did you not notice the committee positioned all of our opponents higher than expected? If we beat Wiscy, we will have more top ten wins, more top 15 wins, and more top 25 wins than LSU, and by a much wider margin.

The only way they jump us if we both win is if they steamroll UGA and we squeak by WISCY.

LSU beating #4 Georgia isn't very much different than us beating #8 Wisconsin. They are really the same team. Wisconsin lost to Illinois which is the same as Georgia losing to South Carolina. Wisconsin was just unlucky to have played Ohio State once already.

HS

I'm pretty sure Illinois is bowl eligible this year. South Carolina is 4-8.

Every SEC team is regarded as 2 wins better than their record. Duh.

They clearly don't watch football outside of their bubble...everybody is saying Ohio St is the most complete team....LSU defense is Doo Doo

What the hell are you talking about???

We are #1....

If LSU blows out Georgia, and OSU squeaks by Wisconsin, I'd say it's a tossup. Same thing with Utah and Oklahoma. If OU squeaks by Baylor, but Utah blows out Oregon, I have no clue what they'll decide.

Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.

HS

LSU isn't blowing them out. The only defense with a pulse LSU played was Auburn and they only scored 23... Georgia's offense might be mediocre, but their defense isn't.

HS

Just speaking hypothetically. I don't think Utah will blow Oregon out either, but if they do, it'll be an interesting discussion for the 4th spot.

Yep couldn't agree more moving wisconsin to 8th pretty much sealed it if we win by atleast 2 scores not really even much to discuss

HS
JTstan16's picture

Yep. We're playing in Atlanta if we win Saturday.

HS
macdaddybuckeyesupreme's picture

If we drop to 2 we will be in Glendale as LSU will wanna be in atlanta. If we're 1 yeah definitely Atlanta

We aren’t dropping as long as we win fairly impressively,

HS
Pahimar's picture

Why would the committee put osu v utah in atlanta over lsu v clemson?

If we don't draw a team from the south we're in glendale imo. Money talks.

HS
BuckeyeRealist13's picture

While the committee has to agree with the selection, the 1 seed gets to choose where they play. Ohio State is in Atlanta 100% if they are the #1 seed. There is no debate.

The 1 seed is protected from being at a geographical disadvantage. So if we are 1 we play in ATL unless the 4 seed is LSU, UGA, or CLEM. If any of those 3 are the 4 seed we go to Glendale so we are not at a geographic disadvantage. Obviously if we drop to 2 then we go where ever the 1 doesn't.

HS

With a solid win over Wisconsin, we're getting #1.

Unless LSU pulls a 59-0 over Georgia or something

HS

I got a feeling LSU will win a wild shootout with Georgia.

If LSU smokes UGA, it will prove that UGA was overrated. If it’s close, it will prove that LSU beat a great team.

We have to roll, then hope.

HS

#1 and #2's ranking is relatively close.

#1 beats #8 by 21 and #2 beats #4 by 21.

What is the logical final ranking?

HS
cecsix's picture

We actually don’t know how close 1 and 2 are. If anything, we increased the margin this past weekend. If both teams win by exactly the same amount, we will remain #1.

HS
chris's picture

I think as long as we at least beat Wisconsin as well as LSU beats UGA (in game control, not necessarily exact point differential), the 1 is ours.

HS
oztintacius's picture

OSU will have as many top 15 wins as LSU, by larger margins... they also have 4 top 20 wins currently and if Cincy can pull off an upset they will have 5.

More top 20 wins by more points. Eye test. Metrics. Whatever - OSU is better.

HS
chris's picture

and we may have at least 2 wins (up to 4) over NY6 teams if Cincy cleans up Memphis.

HS
gobucks5413's picture

Our win doesn't have to be convincing necessarily, but we cant look bad

HS
keith7456's picture

Only way we win and drop is if Fields gets badly injured. The committee see Ohio State as the better team and beating another top 10 team will only solidify that.

HS
BUCKEYE3M's picture

FWIW, all three of Ohio State's OOC opponents are playing in their respective conference championship games.

HS
CedarBuck92's picture

If we take care of  business there is no logical reason we drop. The committee is not bound by logic so they can do what they want but would face a lot of questions for dropping us if we win.
